They literally have Pokemon tier lineup but they always make toys of the same 4 characters. Why? It just seems like a waste of potential to me, they could make lots of money.
>>
I can't say that it's because no one remembers the show, because they milk Angel hard now too. It's kinda weird since they're all called cousins too.
This really did feel like Disney's answer to Pokemon before Spectrobes. I would've dug merch of them back then.

They literally do not.
>>
>>11719216
>Spectrobes
I was trying to remember the name of this game. Was a fun departure in the monster collecting genre.
>>
>>11719202
Never seen anything from the franchise beyond the first movie, but most of those designs look a bit too samey to me.

The box art for the first DS game looks so familiar, but I can't tell if I actually played it or just saw it often when browsing in Gamestop.

It's not so much Pokémon and more like 100+ flavors of Pikachu, most people only care about the original Stitch while the other experiments come off as obscure, weird offshoots from him. Still, I see the appeal, at the very least it's a more interesting toy concept than making every single 101 Dalmatian.

Lol. Didn't even notice until you pointed it out. Looks like she's got five o' clock shadow.

By far disney's most infuriating quality is negging fans of very specific titles out of merchandising or acknowledgement. They'll make all the brown magical girls, ducktales, and spiderman dolls in the world but if you're a fan of any of the movie to tv show spin offs (Tarzan, Hercules, BLoSC, Stitch, etc) you dont even exist in their eyes.

At the very least someone should make a lind of blindbag cousins (not unlike those key chains from a few years back) but alas we are damned to drown under infinite stitch merchandise. Hell it took them nearly 20 years to merchandise Leroy.
>>
>>11719202
Furries are not as big an audience as you think, though much bigger than they should be
>>
>>11719670
I keep thinking about Kingdom Hearts and its very microscopic Disney presence. Squenix is really the only company pushing anything for it, but Disney themselves revert back from appealing to neckbeards to wholesome family values. And yet they still create the cringe that is the "Disney Adult".
>>
>>11719202
At least they made these. I hate it when Disney gaslights the cool things
>>
>>11719988
It is a company whose very existence has become contradicting. They speak out of both sides of their mouth and still manage to disappoint everyone, and after all the bullshit the disney adults will still pony up the mountains of greenbacks to waddle around in the decaying ruins of Walt's parks. It's right out of the pages of 2000AD.

Suffice to say if you want anything made for these obscure works you'll have to commission somebody or make them yourself.

I loved the purple and orange guys. Took them everywhere as a kid.

It sounds like a stretch of an idea but if Disney really wanted to make merchandise, they should make a virtual pet.
>>
I think they're starting to catch on since more merchandise of the cousins has been showing up lately, but it's still largely just Angel and sometimes Leroy and Reuben.

I'll never understand why they didn't market them more when the show was running, it had the potential to be Disney's answer to Pokémon and they just wasted it. Even Disney Japan haven't jumped on this shit really.
>>
>>11721183
Leroy and Reuben only just began getting merchandised within the last two years. They really need to popularize the rest. Hell instead of sending Stitch abroad, they could have done as much with the cousins.
>>
>>11721183
Reuben is pretty remembered, I'm surprised it took this this long. Angel was always a shoe-in.
There's certainly dudes here and there but they work better together, and served as a good excuse for Lilo and Stitch to go out on adventures together
>>
>>11721183
Japan has too much of their own IP's already. They obligate Sonic, made Voltron a US property, that time Yo-kai Watch was an actual Pokemon replacement ...
>>
>>11721274
They did like Stitch a whole lot at one point in time, after the hype of the first movie and show but way before the US remembered him and Disney started cashing in on merch. My workplace even sold some translated Stitch manga. It helps that Japan really likes Hawaii.
They even did their own anime after the first TV show ended, but it did some fucked shit like making Lilo grow up and leave Stitch and him getting adopted by another girl, I think it took place in Okinawa too.
>>
>>11721272
>dudes
duds, I mean
I understand the complaint that most of the cousins are just "stitch but x", and he's still the one that stands out the most
>>
I already knew there was a Stitch manga, but only now did I find out there's multiple ones and one of them is about Stitch accidentally crash landing in sengoku era Japan instead of modern day Hawaii
>>
>>11719525
Girl needs some teeth.
>>
>>11721572
Japan's got an entire multiverse going on, and they're doing little with it. We could've had gachas and a 3DS game and such.
>>
>>11721572
This one is awful. It completly misses what stitch can and how it behaves. It speaks fluent english...
>>
>>11719202
My favorite was the volcano lizard thing
>>
>>11719202
Where the fuck are the Ruben plush dolls and figures in the west. At least Japan and probably Asia remembers good ol 625.

It's usually just Stitch, Angel, Scrump, and fucking Leroy.
>>
Stitch already makes more money than Star Wars and Marvel.
Could it be better? Maybe, but toy companies probably already know what sells and doesn't sell, hence what they're producing right now.
>>
>>11723213
Given how much they loathe Walt, I'm still surprised they havent ditched Mickey for Stitch as a new corporate mascot. He's about as hollowed out as Mickey these days.
>>
>>11723064
Asians love stitch
>>
>>11723213
Holy shit, I knew Stitch was popular but had no idea he was THAT popular. In that case, the franchise seems really underutilized.
>>
>>11723598
Yea Asians still love him
>>
Even as someone that grew up watching this show religiously I can tell you right now that I do not remember 99% of these designs and of the ones I do, my only reaction is "oh yeah that guy."
Frankly I was flabbergasted when they started shilling Angel in the leadup to the live action remake until I realized the simplest answer of "she's basically just Girl Stitch and we want to sell toys of that" was probably the right one. If she didn't already exist they would have just made one up instead of pulling from a 20 year old cartoon.
That all said, Reuben was an actual character and not a glorified monster of the week so I'm shocked they aren't doing more with him at least
>>
All I saw today, hunting down other crap for a foreign friend, was Stitch clearance
>>
>>11723043
I'm already not fond of Lilo-less Stitch and this ones is apparently the only Stitch media to not even acknowledge her existence at all, but I'm too much of a sucker for samurai and historical settings like that
>>
I remember liking the red evil cousin as a kid, they could make him into a rival if they wanted to
I guess not enough people care about the experiments from the show, but who actually remembered Angel until recently? People mainly remembered Reuben. Disney can absolutely just make people care about something again.
>>
The electric one was my favorite, did he get figures at all?

What is the best figure of angel by the way?

I remember seeing Angel plushies at Disney World, in the mid to late 2000s. She was also very popular in Japan to the point where she became a recurring character in the anime spinoff.
>>
>>11727543
>but who actually remembered Angel until recently?
Asia, you out of touch boomer
>>
>>11719202
Not really, Disney almost never ever makes merch for tv series. It is extremely rare that they will acknowledge a tv series and this goes back to the early Disney Afternoon days. They never improved much.

But anyone that has been to a disney Park, or even a tie-in stoe like Bento Box knows full well that they are definitely NOT wasting Stitch potential. Disney overloads on the Stitch merchandise more than just about any other property they have.

And the tv experiments are really just off color Stitch with a weird shaped head, not a whole lot of potential there.
>>
>>11727543
Angel was always really popular because she was just a pink girl Stitch. There's a reason she was the character that lasted past the TV series. Even before her episode aired she was popular. I don't remember when exactly she was first shown off but I remember there was quite a bit of hype for her episode online. As someone who works with kids I can tell you most of them don't even know where Angel came from and haven't seen the animated series. They just know she's Stitch's girlfriend from merchandise.

I think the various cousins have a lot of potential for blindboxes and pins so I'm shocked no one has jumped on that bandwagon. Or a mobile game. I bet a mobile game would do well for Disney. I really just like Reuben and I would like a nice Reuben figure.
>>
>>11725300
They made alot of crap for this remake. I'm not surprised you ran into it.
>>
>>11724698
Realistically they could, or atleast should, merchandise Leroy and Reuben as much as Stitch and Angel. Angel and Leroy have a history together as the rival duo to Lilo and Stitch, and had a whole movie dedicated to just that. Though I want to see more for the other cousins too, even just that much would be appreciated.

Fuck man we dont even get toys of Gantu or Hamsterveel. Atleast Jakks makes Rouge, Eggman, and all the other Sonic foes.
>>
>>11728498
Disney is dumb duh
>>
Ultimately Stitch could stand to be Disney's answer to both Pokemon and Sonic. Many parallels between these properties exist from autist appeal to character power sets. The thing is Stitch on his own, just like Pooh or Mickey, makes so much money they never will bother to put in the effort to expand things beyond just the focus on him and maybe angel. It should speak volumes that they jettisoned Lilo a few dozen times.
>>
>>11728499
I wouldnt say "dumb" as much as I'd say callous and cynnical. They know they could do more but they make so much money as is they wont bother.
>>
I would totally fuck Angel up the ass
>>
They considered a plush line. Beanie plush protos of the cousins made it to ebay. Look on worthpoint.
>>
>>11728259
Really it's a bit of both.

Disney plows through some Stitch merchandise to the point of absurdity at times and at the same time they almost never do anything for their IPs various tv show spinoffs.
But Angel (and to a much lesser degree Leroy and Ruben) which originated from the show has shown theirs a market for his cousins that Disney has done little with besides Angel being Stitch for girls.

I could see a market for them in like blind bags like the recent doorables cousin box or even pins
