what does the supreme court decision mean for /toy/ collectors? can we go back to buying a bunch of stuff from Japan without paying a ridiculous surcharge?
>>11719470Unfortunately I don’t think the ruling means much. At least for toys. Once the gene is out I don’t think you can put it back in. We might get a little something here and there, but why the effort when people already are use to paying the higher prices. You should have stopped buying. This is your fault. JK, I think only the Chinese stuff is going to benefit from this. They are the ones who are the hungriest. Throughout all this ordeal the cheapest quality figures have been from the Chinese makers.
Trump is still trying to have unilateral 10-15% tariffs. Companies are still not going to lower prices at this point, or ever. Even with going back to pre-2025 tariffs I’d wager most companies will just keep the prices as-is to pocket any extra profit.
>>11719470from what i understand it lowered the import tariff from japan from 15 to 10 for now for the next 5 months, but the longer term plan seems to be to try to use another act to recreate the previous tariff rates after 'investigations' which out of this administration means they will find an excuse to do what they wanti don't think any companies will adjust prices lower; all of the previous volatility is still there, he simply can no longer raise and lower them as quickly at his whims but he can still do slower and with how long it takes to ship overseas its plenty long enough
>>11719470I don't think it means too much for importing tbqh. The problem wasn't tariffs, it was the removal of de minimis and apparently that was removed using the Big Beautiful Bill, so getting that reinstated is not looking good. Sucks.
>>11719495its both really, but yeah its probably not coming back unless tariffs go away entirely and it is back to a net loss of money trying to collect low cost package import duties again
>>11719493case in point, he just raised the minimum rate to the maximum 15% all of 20 minutes ago out of pettiness
>>11719495The import fees are the real ball-buster, and like you said, de minimis was killed in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
>>11719470What decision, I don't watch the news
If prices don't go down, it just shows how all the hate for Trump is actually theater and that the elites fully support everything he does. It's the same shit with Bush 2 and the Patriot Act. Everyone says that they were fooled by all his actions, but despite all their lamentation and Bush being 2 decades gone, no one has dismantled what they created.Same shit with Reagan. Everyone blabs about what he did for the big businesses, but we continued down the same path and democrat presidents/senators/reps actually made it worse.
>>11719735They declared the tariffs Trump implemented as illegal and they will be revoked. Not that this is going to bring prices back down...
>>11719766As long as it means I don't have to pay extra for DHL again that's fine with me.
>>11719735Court decided that the avenue trump pursued for tariff is a no go so they said no.Two judges said the decision is retarded. One of the judge (a liberal) got so mad that he wrote a 63 page document on how to circumvent this ruling because he thinks the decision is bs too.
>>11719470It means Orange Jesus will have to give everyone a tarrif rebate and you will all be able to buy more half nekkid waifu figurines for pennies
>>11719788Hate to break it to you but the three women who weren't appointed by the Republicans are the liberals. The five men plus the Stable Genius' last, rushed appointment, a woman, are all recognized as very conservative. I'm too tired to look up whom you mean, but I know it's not the black guy or the other old men because if it was up to them, they are so fucking conservative I would be able to type 'fucking' in public and sites like 4chan would be barred from ISP's in the states. They are exactly the kinds of lawyers writing and passing laws like the porn ban in Texas. So you must mean the beer boofer or the other two and none of those three would even ever have a black lives matter platitude on their social media just for appearance. As far as those three are concerned, there were only good people on one side.
>>11719788Kavanaugh wrote the 63-pager. Thomas and Alito were the other two dissenting justices.
