mighty max was just polly pocket for boys
So?
>>11734649Loved them as a kid, but honestly they were just begging for a kid to take them out for the day instead of a Game Boy, lose one or more of the pieces, and then just be sad because your playset was incomplete/missing forever.
It sucks that Polly Pocket is still a thing but Mighty Max is pretty much gone
>>11734649Yes, that was the intent.
>>11734649You needed 34 years to notice that? You're a tad slow anon.
>>11734778>lose one or more of the piecesThe whole point of these is that everything is stored inside, I still have all my MM sets and not a single one of them is missing pieces.
>>11734812Well Mattel has been doing those Jurassic World Micro Adventures........
>>11735085The only piece I ever lost was when i lent my skull dungeon to my friends and HE fucking lost dr guy and broke the legs on frankenstein. still fucking mad about it. I gave the one he lent me back in pristine condition meanwhile.
>>11734812I guess girls and boys play differently. Just look at Lego Ninjago. The catalog pages kinda show that difference.
>>11735139And now Lego Friends. Much more playhouse.
>>11735139>Boys want fluid motion, conflict and dire stakes >>11735162>Girls want stationary, harmony and mundane circumstances Vehicles verses real estate.
>>11735099That's why I never lent my toys, I knew the other kids would never be as careful with them as I was. I probably was considered an asshole for acting that way but that's the only reason all of them are in stellar condition 30 years later so I don't regret it one bit.
>>11735193I would say action vs conversation.
>>11734649if you don't think this shit is cool there is something wrong with your brain.
>>11734649Wait until you find out GI Joes were just Barbie Dolls for boys. Or that She-Ra was just MOTU for girls. Or Pokemon were just Monsters in my Pocket for weebs.
Funny is that they did few variants to re-use the molds.
>>11736699Looking at some customs ones, you could give them a new spin.
>>11736700I dont know how the minifigure molds look like, but you could give them one or two different minis but re-use the case molds.

Anyone interested in those spiritual successors by Kotobukiya?https://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/en/title/roverrobin/
>>11736709They're from pearia, koto is just distributing them. I have a few of them and they are pretty fantastic.
>>11736709>>11736719I want to like those so bad but the sculpting style just doesn't feel enough like the vintage stuff. It's very obvious it's sculpted digitally and lacks that hand sculpted charm the originals had. I also don't like some of the design choices they've made with various things that don't feel like things that would've been done in the original line. Namely, focusing so much on holiday stuff.
>>11736756>honestly it's just not a bonified kino that's kicking a ton of ass and looking a little chunky to me, you know what I mean? just pack it all up, no point in investing and selling whatever you got laying around
>>11736756I'm not a fan of the holiday stuff either, which is why I just got the slime gingerbread man and nothing else, but whatever. It was among their first and cheapest stuff. I don't think the digital aspect bothers me in hand. You're looking at extreme close up photography of the stuff. Having something the size of mighty max, it's really hard to tell (or care anyway) in person. I like the crocodile even more than I thought I would. I'm especially excited for their upcoming horror head sized stuff, this one will have to break out of the package to not wind up my favorite toy of the year.
>>11736709that's the first revival one that I actually like. has a good amount of stuff that comes off the set, which a lot of these newer ones rarely do.
>>11736825Possibly just due to extreme close up pics or viewing the renders giving the same effect. (Another thing - Why aren't they ever using real pics of these to sell them? I don't want to see the damn renders. Show me the physical product!)I don't really get the same authentic feeling from this cuttle set either. There's so much smooth surface between the top of the case and the curled tubes that stick out. Very few of the older sets had large areas that were completely smooth. Almost everything was sculpted with texture or detail of some kind.
>>11736838I don't know what to tell ya. We haven't had mighty max toys in almost 30 years. These are the closest things to that that anyone has bothered to make. I like the ones I have gotten and I'm excited to get more, I'm thrilled to have new sets of this style to look forward to.
>>11736709>>11736719I prefer Sydney Swift!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qidfHG6mOTw
>>11736880Yeah I like what this guy is doing, I like the lovecraft ones the other dude is making even more, but until they start making them in either production plastic or at the very least offering them in full color high resolution resin prints, I have no interest. "look at this cool thing i made" ok, can i buy it? and if I buy it, can I play with it?
>>11735139>>11735162You’re a pedo you fucking frog.
>>11735333>>11735193Makes me realize why toys exist in general. On one hand, it keeps us out of trouble, but I think they groom us too somehow
>>11736880That's the kind of design and thought process I want the Pearia set to have. I wish those were mass produced. Give that guy a budget and more sets to design!
>>11737077>honestly not gonna lie but these sets are bussin and kick way more ass than those pearBLEH sets, just keep on bringing out the goodness over those mass produced low quality produced sloppa any day of the week! play ball
tfw missed the Mummy King bootleg that went around.
I want to complete my collection but the prices on variants and the sets im missing has gotten so damn high
>>11737125fuck this guy, he started and stopped the project like 3 times over years and years and even refunded everyone the money after literal years of dicking around. Ask me how I know. He then finally messaged people years later when he decided to get back into it randomly, but I no longer used my old email and missed it. I hope the guy that did this shit gets cancer and dies.
>>11736906You instantly want to buy it? Sometimes they are just unique fan art. Not everything is buy-able.I wonder how good would 3D print files sell?
>>11737028Groom? You mean set preferences or cater to your human nature.
>>11737621
>>11737617>I wonder how good would 3D print files sell?Has anybody ever made and released or put Might Max files up for sale? I've seen a few people who made some mini Max figurines but never seen files for actual playsets of any size put up anywhere
>>11737627I know only two. This Warhammer Genestealer https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5110378And from >>11736880 a polly pocketlike thing.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7074475
>>11736906You mean this Mirage Land things?

>>11737665I dont understand this. They have a shop? But they arechinese and i cant find any listing. Might be a language problem?

>>11737660>>11737668>I dont understand this. They have a shop? But they arechinese and i cant find any listing. Might be a language problem?Someone posted a link to the page with these before. It's some Chinese seller I think but these are not factory produced. They are just 3D prints that are hand painted. They look pretty nice, but paying so much for hand painted 3D prints isn't really something I'm interested in. At least the Pearia stuff is cheaper and factory made so it's way more durable and you don't need to worry about damaging the paint or anything.
>>11737668They were offering up unpainted resin prints of the >>11737660>>11737665small cthulhu set for a bit. That to my knowledge is the only thing they offered for sale so far. >>11737617Uhhh yeah bud, if I like how a toy looks i'd like to buy it. Every single one of these guys making "fan art" would have a production toyline if they could. Much like >>11737713said while it can be nice to have a prototype they're not durable or playable and I'm in this for *toys*, so i'd like to be able to play with them without fear of immediately wrecking paint or dropping them on the floor etc. The most insufferable part of sofubi is certain makers acting like it's high art and deliberately only making 5 of a figure and charging thousands of dollars for it. It's not like a painting where the original is expensive but you can easily get a print for affordable money that acts the same. The last thing we need is to encourage other toy fandoms to follow the hype toy/sofubi example. A toy should be accessible and playable, or else it's not really a toy.
>>11737713Thanks for the informations. Thats the problem with garage toys, expensive for what you get.>>11737768Thanks for the infos. The Chtulhu is probably for testing the waters.
>>11737028I agree. It's actually featured in this masterpiece that the secret society is corrupting young generations early to groom them into toys of their own.
>>11737768>>11737787That store doesn't look active anymore at all. There used to be the Cthulu unpainted prints and a painted version offered for sale there. https://lepstudio.booth.pm/items/7741847I don't remember what they were selling them for, but I remember being kind of turned off by the price even before international shipping was factored in.
>>11737792Weird. I guess that sale didnt worked and they stopped the shop.Or it was a scam and they closed the shop after they had enough victims.
>>11738229they probably realized just how much effort it takes doing such a detailed paint job like that on multiple pieces. It's really not sustainable. Things like this really have to be mass produced and painted in the factory or else you'll go crazy
>>11738276Thats a good point too. Maybe they were too ambitious than realized it doesnt work.
>>11737657Found this videohttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/hzktgsH7Vfg
I wonder how easy it is to make a Mighty Max digital playset? And if this would sell. Or if this only works if it is free, fanart.https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/graboid-mighty-max-play-set-model
>>11739703that doesn't look like a MM style set and isn't designed well for easiest printing and some of that super small detail will be lost. He isn't designing well for things to be printed at this scale. An actually well made MM set like the ones from this guy >>11736880 would be better since they're in the right style, are already separated into all the necessary pieces which makes printing easier, and is so much more similar to what MM fans actually want.
>>11736880>SSbased
>>11736838I had the scorpion one growing up and since the claws and tails still move in folded up mode, I used it as a big monster scorpion with my other toys.
>>11739786It is just inspired by MM or in the vain of. But that was just the last thing i found that kinda is a playset like MM.
Rogue Hobbies converted one of these into a little 40k dio
>>11742441I saw that. Quite a good idea to take a incomplete or defective playset and make something nee out of it.
>>11734649I had this wolf one without the mini ship as my only one as a kid. I wasn't too impressed as there weren't really any interesting features on this one. Looking at some of the other ones posted in the thread the wolf feels pretty bland in comparison.
>>11742441>>11742442while cool to see one professionally painted, I think the crossover is offputting
>>11734649This was the first Mighty Max I bought. I fucking loved it>Polly Pocket for boysFuck yeah it was, my sister got the girls ones and I got this.
>>11734649I found this after 2 decades. Another is a turtle. Dont know if it is also mighty max but it has the similar gimmick of opening up to an internal base. I saw the cartoon a couple of times but I dont remember much of it. Thanks for helping identify what it was.
>>11743252Turtle? You dont talk about ninja turtles, somi guess you got pic? Thats the Tokka playset from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
