What the fuck is a 12,000 piece sagrada familia going to look like? This set is in theory six times larger than himeji and three times larger than notre-dame. I know the thing looks a bit like a colossal termite mound, so maybe a lot of the pieces will be tiny and textural.
I also wonder what it’ll depict. Will it be the whole thing? Will we see the distinction between the art nouveau and art deco relief sculptures? Will it be the currently unfinished building, or will we get a set of what it ought to look like once it’s fully built?
The mind boggles just imagining it

the key words are "play scale"
it's for kids to play with
I had a lego batman batmobile and lego star wars general greivous starfighter as a kid
the batmobile had a basic hinge cockpit, but the starfighter used sliding bricks to open the cockpit, I thought they were the bee's knees
and then I got my first lego city police car and you had to pop off the top to put a minifigs in
I was incredibly disappointed that it didn't have an opening car door instead, especially when I learned that car door bricks exist
kids love it when they don't need to disassemble their toys while in the middle of playing with them, even when the disassembling is just one piece on top
it breaks immersion

The coloring is obviously fucked, the white on black just doesn't work, but in terms of print consistency yeah I would say it better back then if only because they were nowhere near as elaborate. Lego is doing better then ever and while attempting more complicated printing designs is expected the quality standards feel lower somehow.

I don't really have any major issues with the company itself - for now. If normies want to pay for black slopboxes then they are free to do so. You can get good value sets if you don't have room temp IQ

>I don't really have any major issues with the company itself - for now. If normies want to pay for black slopboxes then they are free to do so. You can get good value sets if you don't have room temp IQ
well, the idea is that if nobody would buy a $400 set, then maybe "I, personally" would be able to acquire a real Lego Star Trek set for a reasonable price. Lego doesn't even make that an option.
and Lego did not HAVE to put OP favorite character Mihawk in the $300+ set. I'm aware that I can pretend they never made him at all, but gee, wouldn't it be nice of Lego to put him and his tiny boat in a polybag for me?

does it stop me from "liking" Lego? nah. I have a good imagination

I enjoyed the show, but wave 1 sets don't offer many villains to play with. Now that august sets include a marine ship, i think of pulling the trigger. Building large castle which will serve as a hq of my evil convenant. I deconstructed all of my medival sets besides my mocs. Castle splits into 3 parts so I have a way to see all rooms, so far I have finished fundations (castle is on a cliff) which consist of hidden cave entrance with abondoned miner operation/gear, which lead to primeval temple corridor with booby traps (pressure plates) and other room with altar to old god. On the other side theres an entrance from the lake and smugglers den which leads into castle dungeon and further an old valut turned into witch underground garden. Ive got 2 rooms linked via secret passage and theres well opening in the smuglers den and stairway in the dungeon.
The 1st floor consist of armory, stable, wardroom, festivities room, kitchen, with one stairway and one ladder linking it with 2nd floor. Im finishing last details, while doing walls of the 2floor, where soldiers bedroom and few other rooms will be. On the 3rd floor there will be castle lord room (with 4rd floor attick linked via stairs), latrine and few other rooms with mechanisms for draw bridge and porticullis (2 different gates to exterior and interior courtyard).
Its been like 2 months already since I started working on it and altho lm done with it in 60%-70%, im not taking pictures till I will be done 100% with at least 1 on the 3 parts of the build.
Its fantasy project so most rooms have mosters, creatures, bns, traps, hidden entrance or some other forms of storytelling.
I will probably do a photo session and post it here/ in the moc thread when I finish.

There is still problems with the one piece line (certain figures being only being in random sets to make people buy them, the random wanted posters, etc), but £120 for the Going Merry with all 5 of the straw hats is great.

I really enjoy the base build I just wanna basically do what they did for the movie model and raise the cabin up a level!
Then the area that was the old control room can have a tea table and some weapons (I'm still thinking of how I'm gonna go about designing that)
I like lego ships :)

>Why are pirates so wonderfully cheap??
those sets were cleverly designed to be awful.
Luffy (wearing) the hat is only in the two most-expensive sets, despite the fact that in the LEAST expensive set, Shanks has all three options: hair, plain hat, & hat-with-hair. why not include Luffy hat-with-hair in the Buggy the Clown set? obviously they WANT you to buy the $140 ship, duh! or if you buy the $330 restaurant, you'll get it there, too.

I also thought the random wanted posters was a terrible choice, since they are such a big deal in the show. I have not bought any of the sets yet (because the bad set design choices I already mentioned) but I can imagine I'd be upset if I did not get the Luffy poster. and they have posters for characters they did not do minifigs for.... boooo! why make the posters if you can't hunt down the minifigs???

either Lego did it completely on purpose, to encourage buying the big sets, or it was a complete goof-ball-whoopsie "did we forget to include that in the Buggy set?" because they were just CERTAIN that every fan WOULD buy the ship. it's only $140. that's not much, right? every fan will clearly want the ship (sarcasm on that last bit)

I had a cracked head order that was rejected. it took a couple of emails, several days, and they made me send a pic of the cracked head as "proof" before they finally sent me one

so I had a legit request that was leer'd-at. it was humiliating experience. 0 stars would not recommend

(pic related is not my head, but it was cracked like that in the front)

back when The Mandalorian 1st came out, I legit requested a new helmet. (the print was waaaay off-center) the 1st replacement came without incident, but was also off-center, and they made me send a pic before they sent me a third one. so I guess they "thought" I was trying to get free helmets, but they were both legit wonky-looking

Finished the new Creator 3-in-1 castle. Seems the big difference between the previous one is the focus on detail. The last one emphasizes the outside, while the one I have has a superior interior. I heard people were bitching about brick built horses, but that’s something I took as a given in these sets, and have found them really endearing. I’m pairing it with the dragon, and some older castle scraps I inherited from the 90s. Need a classic derg for the transparent wings I have.

Convice me not to bite the bullet on the older 3-in-1 castle. The wyvern looks especially alluring, and I’m considering kit bashing it with the one I have for a bigger build.

Yeah, maybe a small GWP that requires spending $200+ at a lego store. Lego absolutely is no stranger to making highly sought after characters limited to $300+ collector's sets.
>>
>>11739071
dude it's the 5 starter faces of the franchise, they are bound to get recycled endlessly, they will just play up the potential exclusivity fomo temporarily. when they start doing more niche pokemon I will genuinely believe that yeah, they are doing those as actual set exclusives to force people shell out the big bucks
>>
>>11739086
This, they will show up in cheaper sets in 2027, Tandbricks was surprised we get a minifigs scale set this year because he knew they are coming in 2027, the only expectation is that there won't be that many minifig scale sets and will be more spread out. Like look at Winnie the Pooh set coming has the donkey guy in a far cheaper set than before and he was a keychain too. I expect keychain of all pokemans

-they can't get Pokemon as a theme, and not know.
-somebody, anybody working there at Lego must know
-there's zero chance there is not a single person working for Lego, who is not also a Pokemon fan, and would know.

IF Lego is planning to do minifigs of Pokemon characters. the MINIMUM EXPECTATION is:
Ash
Misty
Brock
Jessie
James

>star wars be the flagship theme for the smart bricks is also a very weird movie
it was Lego's only option. they NEEDED (desperately) guaranteed sales from the sloppity-slop-slurping Star Wars fans to create the illusion of success.

those fans get the Star Wars sets for the prestige of having the NEWest Star Wars sets. it wouldn't matter if they had the smart bricks (or maybe MORE since they now needed the "Star Wars with smart Brick" sets!)

so it's not about selling the smart bricks. it's about selling the Star Wars sets. but Lego can use those stats to claim it WAS about the smart bricks. despite the obvious inferior actual-use of the smart bricks in the sets.

>Duckbricks lego dungeon
I'm kind of obsessed with Lego ecelebs and their absurd lego rooms. DuckBricks is obviously insane due to the sheer volume of stuff on display. But some people are imo even more deranged.
Like Bricksie who mortgaged a commercial property so he can have every single Lego set he owns on display along with his Lego city. He and his wife drop their kids off at daycare then commute to some random building to build Lego all day. He also tries to get his toddler age kids to build his LAN sets for him and gets visibly frustrated when they won't stay on task.
Kevin Chapman must have been inspired by Bricksie but clearly lacks the funds because he moved all his shit into a self storage locker and hangs out there for hours endlessly rearranging his "Lego city" which is just a handful of modulars on some folding tables. He's not even in LAN but tries to keep up with the other collections he sees on Youtube.
Emmasaurus and her husband keep their Lego city in the master bedroom of their home and sleep in a side room. I think they have three rooms dedicated to Lego in total. They just had a baby too and are in complete denial that their home is littered with hundreds of thousands of choking hazards.
So DuckBricks is maybe top ten craziest AFOL hoarders but definitely doesn't crack the top 5.
>>
>>11739450
I dont know who any of these people are except duckbricks but that sounds hilariously fucked up. It's like some unholy combination of autistic lego fan and normalfag which somehow become the worst if both worlds. Would they still be this bad if they didn't get into Lego? Would some of us be this bad if we became normalfag? Lol

Also the first guy is literally the fucking dad from the first Lego Movie.I had no idea there were guys really like that.

Smart brick seems like it was created by a board of directors, or some suits in a room who have no actual idea how and why people like certain properties. The fact that 95% of the sounds played are generic beeps and boops that are going to be interchangeable with other Lego themes proves they have no understanding of what makes people like SW.

Even if you hate SW and think it is slop, at the bare minimum, you'd probably understand that people like it for the ships, and the aliens, and the fights, and essentially knights with laser swords. I think it was silly to expect there to be actual spoken lines and conversations on the smart brick, but at the bare minimum, SW is filled with iconic sound effects, and blaster noises, and ship sounds, and light saber swooshes, and music. They kinda, sorta, maybe put a few shoddy, choppy, MIDI-ass sounding clips in there or a couple SW songs, but it is clear they gave no fucks about the sound effects, since they're just planning on using them over and over again in other themes.

Like, fine, the dog fight areal battle blaster noises are fine (even if they're nothing like the actual sounds from the movies) but do they really think kids are going to want to halt everything so they can fly their ship down and bump the smart brick up against a gasoline line so it makes "glug glug" noises like it is refueling? Do they really think kids want to recreate the iconic cantina scene when everyone stops and puts apples and milk in a blender to make fruit smoothies and the brick makes a "whiiiirring" sound?

No, it is so they can reuse these same generic sounds across all their themes. Lego thought they were going to knock this out of the part, but there's a reason why this shit was met with confusion, ridicule, and mockery. There's a reason why they warned their LAN members to not be critical of smart play, because it "wasn't for them" and withheld the embargo date until after the release date.

in "Lego General" news, it looks like we get a new leak style! I've seen this a few times before, it's the "I saw it but couldn't take a picture, so I sketched it!" the "sketch" is obviously some kind of AI overlay filter on top of a real picture with accurate-ish set underneath. could somebody be so accurate re-drawing something from memory?

also I'll toss out a pre-emptive "booooo!" since this looks like a $200 set but only has 5 Minifigures. c'mon, Fortnite has like 5000 characters, and they can only do 5? the $100 bus set had 10 of 'em! I hope the sketch is wrong

First why the fuck were so many people finding it necessary to bit down on a minifig part when they take no effort to take apart by hand but why do minifigs from this era just suffer so badly from torso cracks? I grew up on sets from around 2007 to around 2011 and almost none of mine have cracks beside known brittle colors like redish brown and lime green.

I'm 37 years old, all my old lego is like that, We just bit the pieces to pull them apart, it was just how you did it no one thought this shit would be worth money 30 years into the future, plus the pieces just got a ton of wear and tear because as kids we actually played with our lego, we didn't just build them for display, but we took that shit apart immediately and built whatever crazy shit our imagination was thinking about.

Worse is that my dad superglued some of my earlier lego sets. This, for example, was super glued...

Oh? New thread when? Stfu babydick!
Before spamboi showed up we used to have threads for weeks at a time. There’s no discussion it’s all speculation on whatever spamboi I sperging out on that moment. Meanwhile anyone actually posting their own shit gets lost in the shuffle. We get basically no OC because retards feel the need to repost the latest instagram Reddit reposts as if we’ll somehow miss out if we wait for the actual unblurred pic releases.

Not even trying to purposely antagonize you but have you considered Reddit? Because it offers exactly what you crave. Post your toys, other people post theirs, you have actual usernames to attach to your toys, you get updoots.

Ironically enough, I stopped going to Reddit because you are more likely to have speculation and wishlist comments ignored whereas right here, people are likely to respond to them more quickly because the interface is so much simpler and less of a pain in the ass to navigate.

>>11740038
>Are you only in lego for the minifigures?
clearly Lego knows this, it's not even like... maybe they are doing it on accident. they will always put the most desirable characters in the most expensive sets. always. at least... at first. The 1st Zelda set was $300. once they max'd profits on that, they can try again with a lower price. this time, only $140 (aren't we lucky! sarcasm) it might take several years, but eventually Lego might get down to a $5 polybag Link

it's obviously easier for Lego to sell 10 sets at $300, than it is to sell 600 sets at $5.

as far as "b-but... the set!!!" goes, yes, sometimes the big sets are cool and amazing and "worth" the hundreds-dollars. but if you only wanted the minifig, to build your own MOC around, you only need the one figure, not the whole $300 set...
>>
Even in the 90s lego dabbled with minifigs as a collector's item with those three packs but shit has escaluated to insane degrees since the 2010s. They're smaller snd less articulated then typical figures, why did minifigs become socially acceptable funkos?
>>
File: spacebattle.jpg (101 KB, 690x423)
101 KB
101 KB JPG
>>11740067
Lego was doing minifigure "battle packs" even as early as the 80s and early 90s before they even had licensed stuff. They did this for space, castle, pirates, and city. And these had 5-6 minifigures in them and were $4-$5.

Naturally, the introduction of SW is what made made minifigures change from little people to populate the worlds you built to "miniature collectibles." And naturally, it became a chase to some people to get all of the figures, and drove the prices up for figures from larger sets.

>why did minifigs become socially acceptable funkos?
Funkos are already acceptable amongst normalfags, its just that Lego is also acceptable amongst normies and casuals, so collecting the minifigures is as well. But we're at the point where adults collecting pretty much anything meant for kids is "socially acceptable" now anyway.

>>
>>11740067
Lego is basically fancy Funko on the licensed side. They even courted the same audience of adult maximalist displayers. If you look at Lego content on social media at lot of it centers on having these insane displays with dozens or hundreds of sets crammed into shelves or overflowing onto surfaces like desks and dressertops.

IMO this is a form of scam. The BL seller will list the set as New (Incomplete) and give it a token discount of <$5 per fig then make that up with inflated shipping and handling fees. So they get the full value of the set back and get to keep the figs.

>Are there really just that many people buying several hundred dollar sets solely for the minifigs? Is investing long term in minifig value actually that lucrative?
it's a different sort of "buy just the minifig for $50"
step 1 - buy full set new
step 2 - remove the minifigs you want
step 3 - sell the leftover
it's waaaay more hassle to sell the leftover junk, but in the end, you get a guaranteed fresh minifig, and depending on the leftovers, it might wind up less expensive than having bought just the minifig for that $50

Most set listings on BL are a total scam, it's almost always cheaper to just part out the set, even if you buy the minifigures separately as well.
You can almost always make a profit on LSW figures, it might be hard if you don't know star wars characters but if you can tell a character is desirable and not likely to return in a set, or has a lot of extra printing or specialized moulds, you can definitely take it out of the set and get a profit for it a little while after the set retires. It might be becoming less lucrative now though, just because so many people do it, and the sets are becoming more expensive than what you can sell the figures for. >>11740101 Dark Falcon I think is going to be like the Ghost II set, so many people bought it (at least it's a good set) for reselling, or collectors don't want to have to deal with aftermarket prices so they just buy them straight away, that there is so much supply and people can't justify selling it for much more than RRP even when it's sealed now.

I would normally agree but I think in this instance there genuinely was a DEI angle to it. We've seen lego acknowledge a lot of different kind of people who had never been represented in lego before. Stuff like the wheelchair mold probably wouldn't have happened normally. The Friends line in particular goes crazy in on this, this line alone may have influenced the decision as they saw it as worthwhile in order to appeal to a female audience.

I prefer the Netflix versions since that's the one I watched. sorry to the anime fans. I understand how they must be upset.

to be fair, I think if it was a different show, that I enjoyed the anime for, and Lego made sets based off of a new live-action Netflix version... I wouldn't want the sets. I'd wait until they re-colored Luffy's Hat to bright yellow. but that can't happen in modern-politics because it would also require a lighter-skin-tone Luffy, and that's something Lego is NOT going to agree to (I tease, because that's a schizo thing to say, but probably true)

It was not part of the first wave, it and the haunted house were the full extent of the "second wave" that came out later in a much more limited capacity because the theme didn't sold that well so yeah it is rare. While the male zombie face was used multiple times, the female remains totally unique which makes her particularly coveted(and she looks way better and more frightening than shit like the cmf zombie cheerleader). The other thing is the special zombie relic stone. While all the other relics came with each of their respective monster cheaper and prolific sets and again all of them on the haunted castle, since the zombies came later there was no duplicate of it on the castle that predates it and naturally people want the full collection of stones.

i can understand they remove B model in large set over 2000+ pieces, it takes 2-3 days to disassemble. so some of builders don't want do that. but why smaller sets?

>>
>>11740811
bl is so shit ordered from there once and just never saw my thing EVER
anyways funny minifigures you got. good job
>>
>>11740808
What an abysmal design
This looks like something a child would throw together with spare parts
Was it some sort of free promotional polybag?
>>
>>11740832
It was a set in the Dino island adventurer line. I though the whole theme sucked. Terrible color choices, construction design and play mechanics.
>>
>>11740833
This literally looks like the kind of shit a four year old would throw together. Good hob, lego group engineers.
>>
>>11740834
Yeah I know. I loved the jungle and Egypt themes and when this came out I was like how did they go so wrong.
>>
>>11740772
tru they don't produce much set with playablity function or multi model. build only once and put it on shelf
at least Creator 3 in 1 still exist
>>
>>11738441
Ended up buying 2 of the cheapest set after it was clearanced down to $15 since they make good little beach huts and pulled Buggy and Luffy.
Wouldn't mind Roger's poster either.

Like the pirate wanted posters much more than the wizard portraits but the line needs more small and mid tier sets to help pad it out some
>>
>>11738899
Ehh tried my luck with them once saying I was missing a bag from the dark falcon set trying to get a 2nd Dark Jar Jar
>jump through a bunch of hoops
>bag shows up a while later
>Jar jars head and upper body missing
>but his legs are there and they put in Darth Reys hood piece and White Vaders chin piece for his helmet
>>
Some leakers started to tease the smart play pokemon sets so a reveal should be soon, perhaps next week

WTF? Did LEGO forget Pokémon is a JAPANESE PROPERTY?!!

BREAKING: LEGO announces there are NO PLANS to release any Pokémon related products in Japan!!!!
>>
>>11740892
There's probably licensing deals which prevent Lego from being allowed to sell construction set pokemon products in japan

>want to buy a torso that only appeared in one set on bricklink
>about $5, expensive but understandable because of rarity
>but seller has a $20 min buy - fill up cart with misc other parts from wanted list
>shipping is an additional $30
>tfw $50 torso
>the only other sellers with the part which ship to my country are even more expensive

go thank your orange chimp, only dhl ships to usa and thats their starting rate
>>
>>11740927
Sure sure sure people haven’t been overcharging shipping costs for a while now.
Fucken scalper. Let me guess you’re the asshole that snags the figures and sells the set as “incomplete”
>>
>>11740930
i hardly sell minifigures i sell sets and bionicles, and yes it is so because of orange chimp, our national post used to ship for 25€ but they stopped because one day tarrifs other day not, now only DHL remains and they start at 55€ (12€ for a letter) so go thank your orange chimp
>>
>>11740906
shipping is $30? Are you ordering it from abroad? I live in Britain and never pay more than £3 for postage, but I also don't order from outside my country.
>>
>>11740908
midi scale sets and helmets I can understand even though they are imo complete slop
but there is no way there is demand for this crap. looks awful, ketamine yoda, ugly bases, vader has his cape clasp with no cape, small bit of text on the plaques looks like it says "bruh" from a distance, etc etc
>>
>>11740962
I live in Australia so most shops with parts I'm interested in are international
Even domestic shipping is like $10 USD
>>
>>11740978
americans are goycattle, eu buys most of 3 in 1 10-50€ , usa buys those busts and 700$ dust collectoes
>>
>>11740980
I would have thought Australia would have a lot of Bricklink stores. We have a decent amount in Britain but Germany seems like it's one of the better countries for Bricklink stores.

This is why I hate MOC more than official B model builds. This model 's function itself is fine , but some parts keep falling off while I'm playing and assembling. not to mention some of building steps are confusing to follow
