Pre-orders go up on Pulse today. Sam Flynn and his Light Cycle are $99.99
4-pack is $139.99
>>11756849>>11756851So Hasbro didn't quietly forget. I'm not a fan of the price but I am a Tron fan, so fuck dammit..........And why isn't CLU orange?
>>11756870Clu was yellow. Rinzler and the rest of his troops were orange.
>>11756851>Want to buy a second Rinzler to make a Tron custom>Can't do that without buying 3 other overpriced figures
>>11756926There'll always be someone on Ebay who buys this kind of stuff just to part it out.
>>11756849Wish Sam's helmet didn't have the face on it, what are the chances these hit pulse's clearance?
>>11756936For a mark-up over the already outrageous $35 per figure asking price.>>11756940>Wish Sam's helmet didn't have the face on itThat's accurate, though for a hundred fucking dollars they should have given him a third head of his disc wars helmet. The motorcycle helmet looks retarded for anything other than him riding the motorcycle.
This line is going to shelfwarm big time at these prices
I might have picked up a Rinzler (at Ollies) if it was sold individually. Hasbro clearly does not think Tron is a popular enough IP for retail (they are probably right) so they are doing these shenanigans with overpriced exclusive multipacks and haslabs. Because it's the only way to be worth it to them.
>quorra gets neutral and smirking heads>clu only gets a dumb smirking head relevant to only one brief moment from the movieI hate Hasbro
>>11756961Can't shelfwarm if they never see shelves. They're Pulse exclusive and don't release until December. They are probably making these to order, hence the high cost.
>no black guard 4 packSo much money left on the table. A Sentry with orange Light Cycle should have also been a no brainer. Pretty sure the Sentry Light Cycles were the same Gen 5 design as Sam's, so easy repaint there. Very dumb not releasing these army builders.
>>11756849>>11756851What the fuck are these prices
>>11756976Smarr famiry business. Prease understand.
>>11756976They know the line will bomb at retail and got freaked so now they are Pulse exclusive at inflated costs as they try not to lose as much money
>>11756963But you can recall the exact moment.
>>11757070That's not even what he was wearing in the moment this expression was taken from. He was in his long robe, not his battle grid suit. It'd be fine if it were an extra head in addition to a neutral face, but this being the only unmasked Clu head is a really weird choice.
>>11756940Even worse is that he only has the motorcycle helmet, not the normal helmet also.
>>11756849>>11756851>Hasbro PulseFucking hell it's secondary market it is, then.
>>11757159Small indie company, please understand. At the low price of $100 a third head would have broken the bank.
>>11756963A smug asshole is exactly what I want CLU to look like though.
>>11756851Don't care. Getting this.
It's hilarious people are buying these. If the west falls, a small part of it is due to our mental addiction to buy worthless plastic "thing I remember" at nearly double the price the stuff would've been 6 years ago
>>11757875Didn't realize you commie fucks over in China were allowed to post here.
>>11757884Did you notice the 'OUR' in the post?
>>11756849>>11756851I want to buy these but the UK prices are fucking ridiculous. The equivalent of $140 for Sam and $195 for the 4-pack. Fuck that.
>>11756963>dumb smirking head>>11757331>smug assholeI'll look forward to the day that this future peg-warmer ends up in fodder lots at the equivalent of $2 a head, so I can replace all my RDJ Iron Manlet's head sculpts and sell them off to unsuspecting tourist casuals at a huge profit.
>>11758773>future peg-warmerYou people don't seem to grasp the notion of a Pulse exclusive.
>>11756849> 100 dollars> doesn't glow or light upkek no
>>11756976made to satisfy some tiny amount of ancientfags that actually watched this disney slop back in the theatres 100 years ago
>Disney shits its pants and wonders why there's shit in its pants Why am I not surprised
>>11758874Doesn't BigBad Scam Store get pulse shit after they don't sell or maybe they just buy up all the stock and resell itThey started selling the omega rangers right after they got heavily discounted on pulse
>>11759953BBTS clearly buys stock and resells it. Given the long pre-order window on these Tron toys, it seems pretty evident that Hasbro is making them to order. There will be some extras made for addressing returns due to QC issues which could be sold later, and maybe they'll round up a bit to have some extras to sell once they're in stock, but I ultimately wouldn't count on these being available for long enough to get marked down. I could see this being a situation where few people pre-order them because they're waiting for a sale, and when they sell out without a sale happening the aftermarket prices get retarded because so few were produced.
>>11756849Farewell Tron
>>11760420A lot of dumb people are in for a rude awakening when these Pulse exclusive made to order products don't end up clearanced out, and they have to resort to paying a scalper double.
>>11760449hint: the secret is just to not buy it if it doesnt reach the price you think its worth. When I see a figure I get a number range in my head as to what I'd pay and if it doesn't hit it, I don't buy it.
Finally watched Tron Ares and surprisingly liked it. I wouldn't have minded even just Ares in his original red outfit but it just seems like everyone has little faith in the brand when even Hasbro has relegated the Legacy figures to being exclusives.
>>11762314>Legacy fans make a big stink on social media about Ares not being good enough >THERE'S DOZENS OF US, DOZENS!>Hasbro somehow thinks dozens = hundreds of potential customers>markets toward a fan base that hates corpo suits for ruining their childhood sci fi movie franchise>products fail because fuck them corpos>full helmet Ares and his motorcycle in Wave 1 could've boosted sales based on "rule of cool" alone>they won't do it because we need figures of Simpleton Sam in his dorky helmet, Olivia Munn minus the sex appeal, and uncanny Jeff BridgesDamn, oh well.
>>11762314I'd definitely be down for Ares and his cycle. Would probably also buy a white Ares variant. Can't say I'd be interested in anyone else from the movie though. Well... there's Julian Dillinger in his Sark cliffhanger form, but we don't even get to fully see what he looks like, so that would probably be a tough ask. Would have absolutely zero interest in buying ugly Asian girl or ugly black girl.
>>11762367Very reddit coded opinions
>>11762367>>11762531I would've easily gotten Ares and his cycle at least, and while I definitely want the Legacy figures, it just seems weird to double back on the previous films without cross-promoting any merch for the new movie.>Well... there's Julian Dillinger in his Sark cliffhanger form, but we don't even get to fully see what he looks like, so that would probably be a tough ask. Yeah between Ares seeking out Sam and Quorra plus the cliffhanger with Julian, I'm definitely hooked what's to come but it just seems like the franchise is constantly stuck in a loop of being revived and then shelved indefinitely.
>>11762551YES, YES, YESEXACTLYTAKE PRIDE IN YOUR MONGOLIAN BASKETWEAVING BREATHERN
>>11762652If they didn't want the Tron franchise to not die again then they shouldn't have made Jared Leto the face of the revival>hurr durr this movie wouldn't have existed without himNormalfags don't like that guy and everything he touches is poisoned now. The current gen doesn't give a fuck about his older roles. All they see is his Snyder Joker, Morbius, and his weird cult shit
>>11762551Liking Tron Legacy because "muh childhood sci fi movie" is Reddit as fuck.
I want these but Sam not having a combat helmet makes it feel like he doesn't belong with the others.
>>11760449That's the thing though. Some of these people would only buy them at a REASONABLE price. If they aren't going to be reasonable then they don't mind passing on the figures.
>>11756849>>11756851WHAT????THOSE ARE HILARIOUSLY OVERPRICED!!??
>>11762809I mostly remember him from Lord of War, American Psycho, and Blade Runner 2049. I mean, I've got no beef with the guy (kek), but I hear ya. Still, the premise of the Ares character was something that I actually ended up liking so I wouldn't have minded a figure of him in the red suit with a light cycle.
>>11762815Shitting on old sovl thing and shilling new corporate slop thing is what reddit always does. We saw it with Star Wars and basically every other IP that has gotten a shitty modern revival.
>>11756851$140/4 = $35, which is just a little over the $27 price for a normal Hasbro 6" figure. So it's workable when considering it's a low-production exclusive. >>11756849$100 for figure + vehicle. This one's a tad pricey. I will probably end up with it anyway.
>>11763076Tron Legacy is the cash grab by Disney moron. It ripped the soul out of the OG Tron from the 80s. The original Tron movie had all kinds of interesting looking programs and colors and designs. Tron Legacy everyone is a pale human with minimal make up. The vehicles are bikes, cars, and aerial vehicles. No tanks that would've looked cool as hell.
>>11756849kek
>>11756849Why is it every time hasbro reveals a pulse exclusive I actually want I’m inbetween gigs fuck my nomadic creative career chud life
>>11760168I hate to break it to you sister, but Hasblo hasn't set up a 3D printer in some nice pristine climate control room in their Boston HQ where they are going to make these, one by one. Sure, they might close orders at say 900 but they will make a few thousand. Smallest factory order is somewhere in the range of 4 to 10k. And 4k is seriously unlikely. They would waste more money making the molds, turning the factory on, etc. Than what is wasted in raw material between 4k and 10k.
>>11756849>>11756851there's a million better things to do with your money, it's really amazing to me, having grown up in the 90s/00s that there are so many toys that are cost prohibitive to teens and children, that are no fun beyond a poseable desk ornament, hundreds of them in hundreds of different licensed toylines, and it just keeps going without any groundbreaking developments, just marvel legends style figures until the end of time, like all video games using the same engine so the graphics all look the same, guys on here say the weat can't make toys, well I don't think anyone can anymore
>>11763271I dont know why people get hanged up on the tank. The lightcycles and recognizers are more mandatory "Tron" than the tanks are. But there is a brief "blink and you missed it" shot of a tank in Legacy. >>11768523Eh. I understand your perspective even if I question why someone who feels that way is hanging out in /toy/, but I'm still a Tron fan even if Ares was a let-down. The price of the figure 4-pack isn't too bad as it breaks down to $35 per figure for a low-production run, but the cycle's price I can't rationalize.
>>11768400Minimum production run is in the 2k to 2,500 range. I own plenty of things which were publicly stated to only have around 2k units produced. The horribly overpriced Tron Haslab got 1,386 backers. I think this is less horribly overpriced and overall more desirable, and Hasbro also clearly thinks it's more desireble since it's a pre-order and the movie 1 stuff was a Haslab. It should be able easily hit 2.5k. If these Legacy toys only got 1,400 buyers, yes, Hasbro would have to make more to meet a minimum threshold for a production run and continue selling them on Pulse until their stock is exhausted, but they aren't going to make more if they don't have to because they don't want to be left sitting on unsold stock. The entire point of a long pre-order window like this is to know how many units you have to make.
