Resin printed out a pool table. its a big large, but i think larger is better then too small.
>>11757315everything in this image is resin printed!

Forgot if I posted this last thread, but I’’ve started added the armor and clothing to my commissioner’s OC, as illustrated in his source material.1/3 - boots, plate armored shins, and stockings
>>117573512/3 - articulated crotch sash. Final design will be shaped like wavy fabric
>>117573523/3 - chainmail thong (non-castoff)
>>11757353Magnificent... but that can't be comfortable, having metal rings pinching one's pussy...i know i hate when my cock hairs get caught in the zipper
>>11757316Very nice, you are putting that printer to use. Is warping a huge issue with resin? Bet it doesn't really matter on stuff like bottles and skulls, but on those large rectangular furniture? This is my only concern when it comes to resin. I want to get a printer this year, still a bit afraid of all the hussle with post-processing.I printed myself the bottom hull of my tank, and a little stand to finally see how big it actually going to be, well... it's quite big.
>>11757392
>>11757392Yeah, if theirs no structural support, it will warp over time, especially when the temperature changes. Most of the stuff i can live with, like furniture, but anything flat and thin like a paper will warp unless you can add like, a cross beam section to it like in pic.
>>11757362It’s the client’s design, realism be damned.
Also, in the process of saving up for my own Bambu A1 off Amazon, but in the meantime Shortstack-anon is testing out some designs in FDM for me. I’m going to try and start making FDM-compatible figures and parts once I get my own printer, and hopefully I can rework my current figures on Cults to be FDM-compatible.Pic related is the preliminary parts of a project I’ve had on the back burner for almost 10yrs now. Still can’t go all-out working on it, the commission takes priority, but hopefully this will be my first figure made entirely for FDM. And no, this isn’t another fat woman, the subject is just built…differently.
Is there any way to determine to precise color shading I need for something?
This is barely a custom but I like it enough to post. For being 11 bucks these Chain Chomps just make me stupid happy for some reason. Like it's so damn simple. I've bought 100+ dollar figures that haven't made me smile like these things. If I see more I may pick up another lol. Anyway I decided to make Bowser his Chain Chomp weapon from Super Mario RPG.
>>11758134

>>11757830Yes but it might take a while since it's quite literally something they teach in artschool, it's quite literally called "Color Theory", there's some youtube videos explaining it, but if you want a best experience look up warhammer turorials and just follow the gist of them
Made this some time back, what should I do with it?
>>11758134Damn that is pretty cool now I want one for when I get bowser
>>11758563For 11 yeah it's a cool little thing. There's probably a much better way to make a Bowserish handle for it. That was just my slapped together thing.
>>11758326They give extremely homosexual energy, making it as in-game accurate as possible. Good work.
>>11757315awesome stuff anon>>11757392love seeing the progress on this. that does look big kek. guessing it'd need a slight upsize to fit characters in it.
>>11759174In the game those tanks are mostly tankettes operated by one man. Current size allows to put a driving seat in and all, but I decided to not do it, as you would not see the driver anyways. I kinda sacrificed it for the articualtion. Tower is really heavy, it's gonna require a massive ratchet slide.I really need to thin out the final version, this one is going to weight around 2kg. It's 1,3 kg already.
oooh been a whileI have a nagging question, as I look over a lot of blank figure bucks that are rarely the size/build I want, let alone the color:how do you paint joints? Like, you can't, right? is this a job for dye? Is there such a thing as surface dye stain that resists being rubbed off by joints, but doesn't require the whole 'boil it in a pot of water' thing?
>>11757407shit, that is good to know.>>11758134it's so weird they're FINALLY making the toys I wanted as a kid, but I'm just going 'eh, i don't really need mario and sonic characters anymore'but they're actually good toys now. The classic designs and everything, not always the new shit.>>11759083I bet there's a ninja turtle weapon somewhere, perhaps Slash's knife with the blade broken off, that would work here.
>>11759883You can paint joints but you have to sand them extensively to avoid paint rub. Using a base figure cast in a desired colored plastic is the best way to go. Outside of that option dyeing is the only way to go. It doesnt rub off, it's effectively permanent, and it's the least cumbersome way to repaint a base.
>>11760174ahhh essentially make the joints too loose without paint, then paint them. That's smart. is it usually easy enough for bucks to be disassembled?I wonder if anyone makes like, dyeing markers.. with enough overflow that you can let them seep into hard-to-reach cracks.Well anyway thank you. I have a lot to think about if I ever get that far.
Got a question annoying me for a while:I like the Wind Toys 1/12 base body for his shoulder proportions and amazing ab crunch, but I've wanted to swap its crappy gummy hands and the entire hip/leg assembly that can't swing forward and up properly out for a Romankey's wrist joints and hands and hip/leg assembly. Is this possible?I want to know before blowing some cash on this attempt or risking breakages.
>>11757291>>11757280I bought Nancy for the female civilian body that wouldn't be as out of scale as most everything else is with McFarlane's shit. The head popped off pretty easily after applying some hairdryer heat on it. But I don't intend to take apart her body, although I do fucking hate the painted panty hose on her legs and the overall beige-ness once you try other heads on her. Some Mattel wrestling figures also make good cheap civilian bucks. But I am only fucking with clothes and accessories, hands and heads, not taking the bodies apart. Yet.The two taller figures are both Mattel WWE, the make was also from Ross, I think $4.99? Female from Target (online only but still available for $12.99). Just ordered another when I wanted a ML my local stores just never seemed to stock and needed to something else to hit free shipping. She's been great for that but a PITA to stand. It takes museum putty sometimes.
>>11757315>>11757316Looks awesome. I would buy one from you if they were reasonable and I am sure people too lazy would pay like $30-50 for just the table. Some guys sell things like that bar background and pool table for like $200-300.
>>11760733Hard to say unless someone had both figures and are brace enough to try it in the first place.
>>11761352this is truly the hardest thing about figure customizing.. there's no standards or tolerances.
>>11761352Damn. Does anyone at least have images of a Romankey body disassembled into its components so I could get a good grasp of what I'm looking at for the hip section?

>>11760237>ahhh essentially make the joints too loose without paint, then paint them. That's smart. is it usually easy enough for bucks to be disassembled? The sanding just eliminates any potential for future paint rub to occur. If you're willing to take a rubber mallet and a flatheaded screwdriver to the seam of most action figures after heating them up, most torsos should give.
>>11762852ah, so not easy.. well my point is, in order for that to make sense, you're saying that, without paint, they would now be much looser. having more space in between the joints.
>>11760237I haven't done it myself but some guy I bought some suited Marvel Legends for customs (no heads, no hands) also tossed in the legs, the long coat (without the sleeves), and some other similar pieces that he probably hasn't been able to sell as fodder and doesn't really have enough to dump as an actual lot. Enough people do it that it can't be that hard. I'm going to try it myself, to take apart the bottoms, sleeves, torso, etc., for the first time once I look up some videos or go through the archives here. But I'm assuming the same tried and true methods of hot water, blow dryer heat, patience and elbow grease will get me somewhere. And if not, that's why I am starting off with some crappy wrestler bodies that were essentially free.

Thanks to the anon who mentioned Gundam pen as a way to line a figure. Initially I thought I'd ruined it and used rubbing alcohol to try and backpedal, but then what remained was close to what I was after. Not perfect but I'd rather have it imperfect this way than without.

Who makes the best aftermarket joins for customs? Like those old revoltech joints that click
Been printing off the Sam's Forge Arcee upgrade kit. Using a mix of Bambu black PLA and Resione TH-BJD; was originally going to do everything except a few pegs in resin but I've found some parts are just better in FDM. Also even with a 0.4mm nozzle my printer can get really nice results; layer lines are borderline invisible on the side surfaces and the top just needs a bit of sanding to get rid of them.
>>11763853Also printed off the EMP shotgun from WFC for her. Doesn't store in vehicle mode, sadly, though I might print off a port or something so it can mount on the roof in classic goofy Transformers fashion.
>>11763855>can mount on the roof in classic goofy Transformers fashion. That was cannon for g2
>>11763994It's true! Damn, now I wanna make a G2 Arcee.
>>11763693At this point? blokees or bootleg lego
>>11764099i would buy the fuck out of a bootlego lot of just joints if someone knows of them selling onedo blokees sell them a la carte?
>>11758134>>11758135This anon again. I have bought 3 of these things now because I had an idea. I didn't want to mess up the RPG weapon, and I wanted one normal on his leash... so I bought another. I want to make this an accessory for a or any Venom figure. Like he's lashing out and making a large symbiote face to bite someone. Any ideas on what to do for the eyes? Not sure how the basic eyes are on there exactly. Right now it's just paper stuck with blue tack, but I want something that looks better and doesn't look halfassed. Any ideas?
>>11764493>Not sure how the basic eyes are on there exactlywhat do you mean? You have it there in front of you, you can see they're molded detail. you'd need to either sand those down, or make new eyes out of putty with a half-dome scooped out of one side, so it could slip on and then be quickly smoothed out before it hardens.
>>11764470You can bulk order pic related off ebay. Five below on occasion sells cheap knock off lego using the same parts that might be worth looking into aswell. Far as blokees goes I'd just recommend buying fodder off the net. They really should just sell the joints on their own in anycase.
>>11764680oooh yeah those do feel like the'd be of good use. Still, hinges would also be nice. I have a kit of simple small ones but they're not amazing.
>>11764470>>11764099I bought some Chinese BootLEGO kits from Ali for about $2-3 which seems to have been the special welcome price, but the last time I tried adding another one it was still only $4-5, shipped free (unlike eBay); that said, this is mostly blocks. Probably the Thor Mech would have the most joins but not more than - maybe 8-10? But you can easily either dump the balance on a kid relative or dump back to sell as LEGO fodder pieces.I assume you can get the joins at one of the free standing stores at some malls, if you have one nearby, no idea how much or if there's a limit to what they will sell you, etc.It wouldn't surprise if you could find joins on Ali. Blokees has an official US site that sells stuff, they offer no free shipping until you hit margins but you can write them pretending to be a collector who just needs replacement joins and wants to buy quite a few to make customs. At worse, they won't replay. The contact account is here:https://blokees.com/en-us/pages/contact
>>11764756I know I'm inconsistent about it, but I do try not to buy from china when I can avoid it. At least, directly. Let some other sucker buy it first. My bank actually seems to have aliexpress blocked.
>>11764493>>11764498You can find white vinyl label paper (similar to what you might use to line a kitchen cabinet shelf or drawer. But actually slightly thicker, a bit more like higher end wall-paper. You might even be able to find some store like Michael's that will just GIVE you the odds and ends left over if they have to cut something like that down for someone. And then do some patterns you like, possibly several, till you find some you like, that you test on plain paper, as you already did. Either keep affixing them with their own adhesive plus poster adhesive. I would also make extras to be on the safe side and keep those carefully flat stored. Or add superglue to make sure the edges don't curl up on you as these age.
>>11764796keep in mind though the extant eyes do have relief, so they would have to be sanded down first like I said.
What are some good silver paints that can closely match how Hasbro paints their Silver Surfer? One with a nice metallic sheen without going full chrome.
>>11764837Forgot to mention but I don't mind both brush or spray paint choices, I just want to know some good options.
>>11764800I'm personally comfortable with fine sanding but I am not sure the person wanting this >>11764493 is. If you mean removing these >>11758134 and >>11758134 googly eye things, yes, you are correct, that would likely need some sanding to clean up and possibly either an entire repaint or a good color-match, but black should be Babby's Easiest First Color-Match job, depending on how inexperienced that anon might be.>>11764778I feel you, but let's be honest, buying from both Walmart and Amazon has gotten me crap that was sent directly from China, via customs and even delivered to my door by someone like UmiUmi or that other company whose name starts with an S.Plus which almost all our plastic crack come from China (or Vietnam and a few other spots). I mean, I think even the Japanese toy makers like Mezco and InArt are making their base parts in China, even if they get "assembled" in Japan. But if you want to avoid it, I would try writing Blokees or hit up a LEGO store, either in your home town or the next time you are traveling to a big city that has a store. OR you can sign up for BrickLink and see if a store has enough of them (it appears they are called "hinge" parts), that would probably be better than eBay since there's no fee charged, as long as you don't get some asshole seller looking to make a living off idiot AFOL's - it looks, based on what sold recently, that some people do carry large lots of these and the parts you need could be purchased this way. A lot of folks will have minimum but you can always pick up a present for some rug rat in your life.https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=2&catString=22&catType=P&v=1
>>11764837for small areas, can't go wrong with one of those chrome markers.>>11764918Ah yes, I have done that on bricklink before. I could absolutely do it again. >>11765682yeah, the REALLY high end ones are a perfect mirror finish (on a flat surface, IF you do it right) but you're looking for a lesser effect, and the affordable ones provide that. Shiny enough, but you won't see yourself.Do follow my advice and don't cross back over your lines. If you make a mistake, let it dry, go over it again later. Resist the urge to treat it like a normal marker, as scribbling will really reduce the shininess until it looks messy, uneven, more like brushed steel. Also, not sure if you've used that kind of paint marker before, but they usually have a spring-loaded tip that you sort of pump to charge it with paint, and if you overdo that because it didn't seem to flow right away, it's like taking another edible. You'll end up with way too much coming out. Just take it slow with these fucks.
>>11765221>I was hoping there was some way to get them stupidly CHEAPThe cheapest way, as I said, is the free-standing LEGO stores in malls, because they do sell the spare pieces by their lonesome, with no minimum purchase requirement, no postage or shipping. If you don't have a LEGO shop near you, then you CAN order directly from their website, but the minimum postage with be about $5, so probably about $25 for say 100 joins, as an example?>>11765691Is that something you can get at say a Michael's? Or even some clearance store that sells art supplies? I just need to know what name or 'type' (chrome markers?) to look for?I picked up PICREL, new for $6 at Ross, and I'd like to line him like I've seen others say they've done with Gundam pens but I'd like to do as a practice test. I'm sure I've got the patience to do it right, but still, I'd rather test it on this buck and with a less expensive marker before I go to a hobby shop.
>>11765691>Shiny enough, but you won't see yourself.Yep that's what I'm going for. Also thanks for the extensive advice anon, I'll definitely keep it in mind when the markers arrive.

Does someone really need a 'self-healing cutting mat' or can I get away with any of one that's only a few bucks? And I assume I can find one of these at a Michael's or a Hobby shop, as I'd rather pick one out by thickness, in person?PICREL is what was recommended to me by a self-taught friend whose been doing custom figure tear downs for about 8 years now, and done kits since he was a teenager and gunpla since I have known him, who now even has teenagers of his own now. And I've never done a model kit in my life, and most of my custom work is very recent and simple paint and kitbash, hot water to remove a head, etc. Whenever I have done any cutting/trimming (usually photographs, graphic design projects) it's done done on top of plain, colored card stock bought in bulk packs from the dollar store. These, of course, have no guides or lines, I just use my metal straight edges, some I've had since school.I can afford $35-40, just don't like to waste money. And would rather spend money on actual figures.
>>11766395I've never used a mat, but then I work on a card table and I don't care what happens to it.I would assume this 'self-healing' is like the kind of rubber stopper in a bottle that you can poke a syringe into multiple times, and the holes will reclose under the tension of the rubber.>just don't like to waste money. >>11766530I think you went ridiculously excessive with the breast and generally went overboard on proportions; most actual females would gain weight everywhere.Breast that huge and pendulous (think Dolly or the Barb Wire actress), a woman has far more curves AND way more girth that the stick figure you are depicting. Now, you aren't really doing an anatomy project and probably just want to satisfy some fetish, but just make a statute in that case. You're never going to get this to articulate into what anyone would consider "good poses" and you're never going to get this to stand properly without a flight stand type display base propping it up.

You can probably set up things, cheaply, than will work as diffusers or reflectors and there's probably stuff that other customizers have set up in the past for displays that we might even find in the old archives or old threads here, and certainly elsewhere on-line.And will you die happy, anon?I just got way more lightening effects than I was expecting - essentially tossed in for free - from a dude I also bought something else at a great price, so at least for tonight, I'm happy.
>>11769070I was thinking like, you know, thin sheets of translucent plastic, the kinds of things I used as cutting boards before I had plastic cutting boards.. or if not translucent, then like, crazed, you know the shit.. But in white. That would make it easier to attach to the underside of each shelf AND keep the lights from getting tangled in the figures, as they do now.>will you die happyyes but because I adopted a daughter, otherwise no.
>>11769078>thinking like, you know, thin sheets of translucent plasticColored cellophane would be less expensive, dollar stores might even have it. And it would be less rigid and easier to trim to fit. I'm going to have to run an extension cord to test it so it's an issue for another me, another month, but I'll probably test it with fabric anyways.
>>11769848yeah but wouldn't christmas lights just poke clean through cellophane? in any case, let us know how it works out.
>>11769852You would leave a drop distance, just like with construction?
>>11770139right, yeah that could workMy goal was to press them up into the ceiling too, since they droop so low.
>>11769852I was thinking of building a frame, cellophane would also curl up. And yes, you would set the frame apart from the lights in the same way that a studio photographer would set up a defuser or a a reflector apart, unless it was a cap right over say a flash bulb. But I'm just mentally spit-balling, I haven't done anything like this since I would help out my friends in art school on their film projects and that was ages ago. There's a guy who does a lot of toy photograph and he uses reflectors a lot but his displays, when he shows them off, are just stuff sitting around like most everyone elses. I think the next display thread, you gotta ask people who have well lit cabinets how they managed them. I remember one dude said he bought those IKEA pin spots.
Printed out some trash bags and cans, i just thought they were neat, but they didn't really fit into any of my collection.
>>11771434they came out great, and the black gloss paint really sells that plastic bag look. Where to put them....
>>11771436So ended up making a alleyway Diorama for them.
>>11771437We can see the finished trashcans here lol, but started with some XPS and started looking up common sizes for doors and shit.
>>11771438the walls are modular so i can have a tighter hallway effect.

>>11771436incredible. looks better than if you used real flexible plastic
Project SOLDIER 1/12: shoulder armor shaped, angel installed. Waiting on boots and head.
Ive been trying to make a sneasel plush for the past few months but the only real progress ive made is a finalized arm. spent about a month trying to work out a head design only to have to scrap the whole thing cause both i and the person im making it for wasnt happy with it. feels bad..
>>11772141having to redo something is always demoralizing, sometimes you just have to wait for a second wind.you have great skills though, I'd have no idea how to do that.
>>11772141plushies are crazy hard.I assume it'd be best to prototype it. wrap cloth around like, a tennis ball until it looks roughly right, then copy what you did scaled up.
>>11772289ive tried stuff like that and i just dont really get it. i generally just buy some shitty cheap fabric and just make it over and over till its to my liking. but in practice yeah thats kinda what you should really do.
>>11772314I have no idea how plushmaking works, maybe it's time to analyze your technique and study others who do. If you've just been winging it thus far, that's tits mcgee and you should be proud. Think of your study time as something you wisely reduced so it wouldn't take so damn long.
>>11772319I wouldnt personally call it winging it, its trial, error and itteration. There may well be more smooth ways of handling it out there of course.this instance though was more so me spending way too much time trying to tweak a design that was fundementally flawed from the get go . im hopeful taking a step back to work on other parts will help whenever i do go for it again. torso prototyping has been going really well for the most part.
>>11771436>>11771434These look really good. This alleyway diorama >>11771437 looks great and would be perfect for something like having some thugs mug someone and having a street level character like Deadpool, Spider-Man, one of the Gotham heros, etc. Or even for say a TMNT or something that isn't just DC or Marvel.Of course, if you aren't into capeshit action figures, and your toys are say anime figures or joy toy army figures, you aren't necessarily going to have much use for a street scene with trash cans and trash bags.
>>11772141That doesn't look bad. Have you thought about going to a thrift store or close-out store or even a yellow-tag item and getting an existing plush for the base of a head? My Bestbuy barely has anything besides Lego and Pokemon now but when they had plush, you could buy the floor displays that were beat up and dirty. My friend used to launder them clean and use them for pet toys for his two dogs. I think he once got one for a buck.
>>11772504oh yeah japan's really squeaky clean with their trash aren't they
>>11772706im probably going to moreso reference other sneasle plushes going forward for a baseline. there are certainly plenty of examples lmao.
Printed out some clear resin water splash effect for Aqua, with a RGB light under it to simulate her trowing up scene.
>>11773032video>>>/wsg/6137280
>>11773032that is amazing.>I thought you said glow-sticks were all-natural>I SAID they contain the same chemicals fireflies use to light up.
>>11772866Well so can be Singapore ....
>>11764493Me again. Tried to sand down the eyes today and obviously that scuffed up the sides around it, but it did give me an idea. Is there like a resin that I could use to make the eyes? Like masking tape the Chain Chomp and apply the resin? I've never used resin before, no idea if there's any white kind for hobbies. A kind of glossy white substance that'd harden and mask the scuffs from the sanding would solve the problem of noticing the original eye sockets if I had painted it, and make the eyes cooler than a simple paint job. It doesn't have to be a resin, but it's what popped to mind. Any anons with experience or an idea what'd work please let me know.
>>11776552I think you'd be better off with apoxie sculpt.
>>11776552>>11776555Would this work?
>>11776567nah you're gonna want something sculptable for sure. There's a few similar compounds, i wanna say one is literally just called 'green stuff', but the idea is the same with most of them. You knead together two soft materials, they start hardening slowly, so you have time to sculpt and shape. then afterward, if it's not perfect, you can still sand it down or abrade it down with the right kind of drill bit or whatever.
>>11773055kek
>>11776567Milliput Superfine White would be the right color though maybe not quite the right finish. Should be simple to put a gloss or satin topcoat over it though.
