Has anyone gotten or seen first hand these Moto Nuclear blind box kits? They suddenly are everywhere on my socials. They look kinda neat, but 25USD for the chance of getting 4 of the same kit is kinda suspect to me. It's why I never got into the Monster Hunter figures, its always blind box shit. There is an AliExpress that claims it has "all" 6 for 120USD but then you don't get the "secret" 7th kit.

Additionally, any "Feminine" mechs like the Nobel Gundam or Valsione are fair game as well. What you do with your build in terms of theming is up to you so long as your base is "Feminine".

Basically finished my Blokees Arcee I've been doing in G1 colours. Well, sans shoulder wheels, need to wait for chrome to cure on that before I paint the tyres and then attach them. It's been a bit of a ride (discovering Tamiya primer is hydrophobic whilst testing out Kaleido paint was, uh, fun) but I'm pretty happy with how she came out. More pics will follow once the wheels are done.
Recipe has been:
>Mr. Primer Surfacer
>Kaleido off-white, pink and pink flesh (also a mix of clear blue and clear white for the windscreen and Italian racing red for the lips)
>SMS steel
>Vallejo metal colour chrome
>Burnt umber, lamp black, primary magenta and pyrolle red oils
>Kaleido gloss varnish
>Molotow chrome (for the wheels, not pictured)
>Yet to be determined paint for the tyres
I'm genuinely impressed with the Kaleido paints, they work amazingly well, the clears especially. SMS steel is a really nice metallic too, though I've gotten through half my bottle doing this kit as it's quite thin and needs multiple coats.
Kit itself is quite nice, modded the elbows a bit to increase range but otherwise built OOB.

Hey guys, I'm trying to replicate this incredible shiny metallic neon/fluorescent yellow/green combo on this counterstrike skin.

Question: What's the best way to do a scratchbuild that involves profligate use of hinge mechanisms? My initial plan was to buy a bunch of small metal hinges from a hardware store (or Amazon/Ali if they don't sell anything small enough), hold them in place with pegs and use pla plate to hide them flush on the undersides of the folding pieces. My planned build is going to involve probably upwards of 24 hinges, though I'm still in the planning/design phase so that's almost certainly going to change.

Just finished this, it was my first girlpla and non bandai kit, I'm honestly extremely impressed
Almost entire kit was undergated, strong plastic (if anything a tad stiff), honestly it was a very lengthly and smooth building experience
Was not expecting at all for the kit to come with parts to make the girl both in and out of her wolf armor, which is fucking awesome. This feels premium as fuck for $60, and comes with a plethora of accessories and option parts, some of which completely alter the look of this thing
I will be buying more of these
I also did infact fuck up more than a few of my waterslides, I'll probably go back and fix them later. I pulled an all nighter building this shit and by the end I could barely articulate my hands.

I had the idea of making Naadleh-like hair for my groupbuild, but I wanted it to be flexible, so I decided to try to buy some yellow rubber bands and cut them up and then make a wig out of them. But it turns out that they like to retain their shape even after they've been cut, so I tried a few methods to straighten them out, and arrived quite accidentally at using a hair iron, which immediately melted the rubber band and when it cooled it was in a straight (and flat) shape.

Now to repeat this probably another 50 times to get a full head of hair, then somehow attach them all together in such a way that I can put them on the head of my build.

>>
>>11769176
Don't rubber bands eventually become brittle?
>>
>>11769417
Yeah, I did some research and it's a combination of UV light, temperature, and keeping it in a compressed/stretched state for long periods of time. So I guess if I keep it indoors and don't stretch it, it might last longer. I figure I'm just going to topcoat the wig once I've gotten it into a position I'm comfortable with, and leave it like that. But overall, I'm probably not going to care what it looks like in a year, long after the groupbuild is over.
>>
>>11769176
Why not just use cables? I'm sure hardware stores sell insulating cables by the meters or what not and I'm pretty sure I've seen really thin ones. Or you know, just use those copper wires.
>>
>>11769554
I sadly don't think that's going to help. They just don't make rubber bands with the intent on lasting anything.

>>
>>11769823
I'm trying to go for a flat/rectangular look, and wiring is round. I did think about buying some wiring in my initial search, but I don't really want to spend that much time stripping wiring. Plus, a pack of 600 rubber bands cost me only $5 on Amazon.

I bought some black ones from aliexpress a few years ago, a pack of three for about 8EUR. Taxes and tariffs have changed since then so I think they are around 18EUR including shipping which is still cheaper than a pack of three official ones. They had that flaky sort of plastic around the edges but after some light sanding they were fine. The range of motion was about the same although the joints wouldn't hold position when maximally extended. I'd imagine all the other Chinese brands are using the same specs and probably even from the same factories.

>baby beginner
I'm going to assume it's "I have no building experience or budget, I just want a friend"
>HGUC Revive Zaku II
Good and flexible for modern times.
>HGUC Zaku II from the 2000s
A bit aged and clunky but it might be fine considering you haven't developed any specific standards yet.
>HGUC Zaku II F2
A bit better than the latter, it's a specific design, up to you on whether you like this one's looks.
>HGUC Zaku II FZ
It's from a memorable OVA, up to you on liking its design.
>HGUC Hizack
The Zaku's sort-of successor in the sequel show, it's an older kit but probably still worth mentioning, it's very endearing but has few accessories.
>HGUC Zaku I
A surprisingly decent kit despite its age, not the Zaku you wanted but it's still green.
>HGUC Zaku II Origin
I honestly don't know much about this, don't love the Origin designs, and see them as a bit expensive. But it does seem to have the most accessories, and therefore might be the most fun you might get for a Zaku.
Bonus
>SD Zaku
Various ones exist, if you just want some version of a robot you like represented on your desk. Zakupla-kun also lets you display it as if it's still gunpla waiting to be built
>HGAC Leo
The Zaku of the Gundam Wing series, apparently they routinely go for $10 at Hobby Lobby if you're in the states. Minimal accessories (sabers, gun, shield) but it's a reliable trooper!
Also get at least a Gundam Marker of some sort to panel-line your stuff. But don't use panel liner fluid or pour-type markers on pieces after they've been built, they'll crack pieces and stain them because the fluid's trying to expand/evaporate. Disassemble stuff before panel-lining and you'll be fine. Even if you're not going to paint, it's nice to have a few markers so you don't go "why are those black lines completely blank on my copy"
>>
>>11773737
I'd go with the 2003 Zaku II. It's old but it still holds up and it's a pretty quick build too especially if you want to make an army of Zaku.
They're also pretty cheap if you want to customise it.

okay you've convinced me

I'm sorry anon.... but I've got to go with something in stock right now as I am impatient
>>
>>11773825
Whenever someone posts an American store item here I'm always shocked by how things are basically half price compared to elsewhere in the world. Unfortunately the shipping cost is then 1.5x the kit.

>named every affordable Zaku that came out since the 1940s
>but no he's going to go with the one that looks cool, has a variety of accessories, AND a cool-looking cannon
You are dead to me and I hope you realize this, never respond to Anonymous again
>>

don't worry I plan to eventually become a total addict and will likely buy every single zeon suit I can (they just look cooler)
I may also someday get a ball
>>
>>11773981
You must get all the balls
>>
>>11773737
Just go with whichever variant you think looks nice. For all the faults of Bandai, the one thing they do well is to make gunpla as beginner friendly as possible.
>>
>>11773810
Do a 'maintainance in progress' theme, have the outer shell sort of hanging on wired / in process of being lowered onto the inner frame.
>>
>>11774257
If I had two I'd probably do that but it's Kshatriya man, gotta complete it.

I just want a reasonably priced ribbon arm mf
>>

How exactly do you use it, are you rubbing the point against a stress mark? Scraping the blade aliong it?
>>
>>11775012
>rubbing the point against a stress mark
This. Also, there is no "blade" per se, it's a smooth piece of stone but it's not actually sharp.

What's the deal with those ganso sd gundam world kits? Are they just throw back to classic senshi kits, if so why are they so stupidly expensive? They barely look any better then older kits kits you can still get for like 15 bucks.

Has anyone here ever built this guy?
I'm thinking of taking the plunge for 70 bucks is steep for something you gotta build yourself. (only models I've ever out together are pokemon kits)
>>
>>11776587
Yeah that does not look like it's worth 70bucks. That said, pokemon kits are also kinda overpriced for how basic bitch they are. They have few parts than a typical EG gunpla while costing more.

I preordered them. I hope EZY isn't ass, I have wanted an Alphonse for a while but all the old kits are scalped to hell now.

just got into gunpla and this is my first build ever what do yall think?
>>
>>11777403
For a first time build, it's passable. You really need to improve your nub work though, I can see a bunch of places where you didn't properly trim the remaining sprue off of the pieces.

Agate knife is a knife that you use on A gate. get it?

My first ever gunpla just arrived I bought real grade and all the instructions are in Japanese oh god what have I done
>>
>>11777516
Only the pictures matter
>>
>>11777516
If you can put together an ikea shelf, you can put together a gunpla.
>>
>>11777403
Not many people start with an RG but good job. Maybe invest in a file or hobby knife for those nubs though.
>>
>>11777516
Just take it bit by bit, you'll be fine. As long as you don't accidentally cut off a peg or something you'll be fine.
>>
>>11777547
>As long as you don't accidentally cut off a peg or something
That's even better, that way he'll learn how to fix stuff.
>>
>>11777559
It's his first, he probably won't have cement and rods to fix it.
>>
>just finished HG MkII Titans
>pose it around
>shoulders seem a little tight
>check joints
>big stress marks
fucking WHY
>>
>>11777516
I didn't think I'd need files so I'll only be starting this tomorrow when they arrive, but why do the numbers on the sprues not match up with the numbers in the instructions? That's really fucking stupid desu. The tiny metal blade for the sword is nice though. It even has a wavy pattern following the edge.
>>
>>11777688
What files will you be using?
>>
>>11777697
I dunno, small metal ones. And some little pincers for the stickers.
>>
>>11777698
Be careful not to gouge your kit when using metal files, always check how close you are when sanding down the nubs. What other tools do you have? Are you using single blade or dual blade nipper?
>>
>>11777698
>>11777688
Not useful to you now but sanding sponges are pretty good and in my experience glass files have been excellent.
>but why do the numbers on the sprues not match up with the numbers in the instructions
Do they not? are you looking at the correct sprue?
>>
>>11777708
The snips are dual bladed. I've had them for a long time since I used to play tabletop wargames. I almost threw them out when I stopped but they came in hand for clipping the ends off guitar strings.

>>11777714
>are you looking at the correct sprue?
Never mind, I've been coaxed into a snafu. I was looking at the pages explaining how the follow the instructions and not the instructions themselves. Having different numbers on there is an odd choice.
>>
>>11777682
>try to pop arm out of socket to see what the problem is
>arm shears straight off
I am so fucking mad. I've never had this problem with any other kit

It comes with LED? Cool.
>>
>>11777933
So, has anyone bought one of the third party 1/100 Lupus Rex? The Wolf Tech one seems cool but some people have complained about fitting issues and broken shoulder joints.
>>
>>11778244
I don't know why anyone would want a bootleg MG Lupus Rex when Bandai are almost certainly going to announce one at Shizuoka in a few weeks. Chinese kits tend to be hit or miss when it comes to quality, so why take the chance?

Come to think of it, why are there so many bootleg MG Lupus Rex kits coming out of China? Do they just like the design that much? I never thought it was that great looking.
>>
>>11777958
that looks like an intense amount of effort- and mass. does it have some diecast frame?
>>
>>11777516
I've started building this and so far it's pretty smooth sailing. Got me a craft knife, tweezers, and snippers which is all a man needs. Done the right leg so far, I can't believe how much articulation and attention to detail there is.

completed, he may a little fella but it is so cool
>>
>>11778569
Nope, all plastic. The only piece of metal in it is a magnet that turns on the cockpit led.
>>
>>11778982
hopefully the binders won't make the arms shear off, eh?
>>
My left index finger has so many tiny cuts from using a craft knife to trim off bits of plastic.
>>
>>11779364
The shoulder part that hold the binders are separate from the arms themselves and they have a little locking tab as well.
