I think Kenner is still just riding off it's 1979 success. I much prefer the BLACKED Series, though it is a tad obnoxious. I pick up a Kenner every now and then if it's reduced to like 5 euro.

Hasbro has to stop making black series of figures of characters no one cares about. The oeginal figure lines were always like 6 heros, bad guy pilots and troopers, aliens and droids.

We need nore aliens and droids.

And stop charging 30 to 50 for a figure just because it has a jet pack or extras.

Never have I seen a company work so hard to fuck their own lines up

My local figure store charges €20 for a shitty little 3.75 of a literal who character.

No shit? If you hate it then you'll really hate it next year when for the 50th anniversary of SW we'll no doubt see a flood of retro stuff.

A lot of it is Disney, which lays a whole lot of terms of what's expected of Hasbro.

That's not how it works.

Same here in America, I just want decent 3.75 scale figures at decent prices.

Hopefuly next year gets us a shitload of vintage reissues at hopefully decent prices. Some reissue vehicles and playsets would be nice, too.

anon, Kenner doesn't exist since 1998, it's just branding for Hasbro to put retro style figures under.

Oh shit I didn't know that. Ty. Fuck Hasbro then

I'd been away from collecting sw toys for a long time and feel like old man yelling at cloud, but the prices for 3.75 today is criminal.

I see what you did there with the BLACKED series.

Price along with the Disney characters are a huge reason for the decline.

The new style Kenner stuff would be much better if they actually bothered making cool stuff and leaned into the play pattern. You need a bunch of kick ass aliens, troops and droids with some vehicles, creatures and playsets to make the line feel exciting. Almost all of the retro released stuff is either based on disneywars slop, which means most of the figures are diversity brigade humans in rags, or "figures never released in the original line" ie 90% background characters and brief outfit changes that were already too boring to make the cut 40 years ago. It's a recipe for complete and total lameness.

I'd be much more okay with SW output if they picked one line to pump *everything* into, all the vehicles, all the creatures, every background character- and vintage retro makes the most sense as it would be the most affordable. They could then dick around and slow trickle out whatever they want in more premium lines chock full of articulation and whatever else.

As it is having like 4 different lines running where none of them get proper attention and none of them put out enough figures to even build out a single scene in a year, let alone a movie or show, leaves them all feeling unsatisfying.

apparently it's due to the increased part count that comes with more articulation
personally i feel like the new figures are too fragile, which is the worst of both worlds since kids can't buy or play with them
i think 2007 - 2012 was the sweet spot, enough articulation to be mostly satisfying and durable enough for kids to enjoy
i also think the 2005+ figures were also decent enough, although i get why people dislike swivel elbows

I wonder how well the disney stuff sells compared to OT and PT figures or even EU or vidya game figs. Gotta suck knowing you're making shit most people don't want.
