What went wrong?
it was always wrong. peak npc "collectables"
>>11766286Hopefully they will be replaced by Blokees and we'll have affordable modable 1/12 figures of every ip imaginable.
>>11766286It was a novelty fad that lasted surprisingly longer than I thought, but was still destined to pass. >>11766336You're a blokees employee, aren't you?
>>11766336Blokees should get to do every IP imaginable as 1/12 champion class or equivalent, but more likely it will be hero class or defenders that we get every IP imaginable.>>11766642China use bots. They've never heard of things like interns to offer college intern credit to the way McFart and Hasblo need to in order to shill on even fifth rate Mongolian basketweaving bulletin boards.
>make Batmite>call it Batman
>11766913>type troll shit post>call it funny
>>11766286It took over shelf space meant for actual toys at local comic shops and convention halls
>>11768146Yes, it's taken over shelf space at local comic shops that would be used for graphic novels, books, comics and, yes, actual toys.Same for bookstores and others places where toys could be found - the one exception possibly being Walgreens and CVS. But even Burlington, Ross and Marshall's (so I assume this is true for the Big Lots left on the east coast and Ollie) are now filthy with remaindered Funkos.
>>11766642No. They just have a very clean look and great articulation which lends itself well to multiple IPs but not enough I like. If I were to compare them to a comic book artist I'd say they're José Luis García López, NECA would be Alex Ross, and Todd would be Todd.
>>11768797Ross as NECA feels both insulting to NECA and to a lesser extent, Ross. For one thing, NECA doesn't have a bunch of heavy set older friends it invites over for BBQs and then gets them to sit in molds so that it can design action figures based on their bodies and aging thick-set proportions ....
>>11766286Too many being made overallToo many being made of new media (movies, tv shows) which weren't good or well received in the first placeToo many of plain looking charactersToo many nonsensical color variantsAnd if we want to criticize Funko not just Funko POPs:Too many products tied to Funko POP brandingToo many experimental and gimmicky productsToo little original designs (their original designed characters (except Freddy dressed as a ___) are actually pretty good)Should have stayed a private companyShouldn't have let go of some of their more talented artists
>>11766286the package design could have been better, they got locked into the style and never ever updated it. they are sturdy and stackable, but the 3/4 head image blocks the view of the figure awkwardly off-centeredoften you need the box to "explain" which character it is, so I don't mind that most people display them un-opened, but the boxes could have been better for that
>>11769309Some of these are very valid but you could throw some of this shade to say McFarlane for their jokerized everything and too much batwanking batcrap>>11770079But also a valid point

>>11770693True, some of the trends are happening in other toy companies too. I don't like it when companies make random variants when ignoring other in-demand figures. I'd like it a bit more spread out.And that's all to say, I actually like Funko as a whole. My criticisms are more out of frustration than anything. I mostly like their horror stuff because something about horror being super-deformed and/or minifigure sized really scratches that itch for me. I don't know how to explain it. And their sculpts have only improved over the years.
>>11766286I work in a toy store and honestly the range has just gone to shit. Remember Kane from Alien? Yeah me neither but that's the level of shit we're getting sent in. If they just went back to basic recognisable shit it'd start selling again.
