>>11786622He's friends with a human named "Jones". Be afraid.
Hm...think I need to call an exterminator. Looks like there might be some kind of infestation going on.
>>11786611Nice, I’ll finally have the full line up of Marvel Primes>>11786628I really need to track down a Shrapnel at some point, he’s literally the only G1 Insecticon I’m missing
when's my nigga Primon
>>11786559Is there a way to make limbs out of Junkions and fossilizers etc. For these guys?
>>11786629Shrapnel is the hardest to find and the priciest. I was holding out for the rumored Target SS86 Inspections three pack, but I have way more Autobots than Decepticons in my G1 collection and the Insecticons felt like a really glaring absence from Megatron's crew, so I decided to just say fuck it and get the DCS. Not that much more than getting the Legacy versions on the after market and I think they look a lot better.
>>11786602His artifact was always his Rhisling - he uses the thing to literally cut through the fabric of time and create portals.
>>11786621That Sentinel sucked and Leonard Nimoy deserved better.
>>11786589His head looks too small. Plus the face is a bit weird.
This is a long shot. Does anybody know in which of Thew's Transformers review he says something is "a bit Naked Lunch, isn't it?"? I just watched that movie and want to finally get the reference. I think it was one of the older reviews.
>>11786633He exists in superposition with Prima, sometimes he’s the first, but other times Prima takes that title>>11786671His design and proportions are more taken from the cartoon than the original toy
>>11786671Its fucked up you didn't think about this >>11786688 before you posted that
>>11786688The expression is not menacing enough. He looks scared more than angry. He needed to take more from the toys face>>11786688Who pissed in your cereal?
>>11786671I'm happy with the smaller head, makes the body more imposing by comparison. I always thought the toys larger head gave it somewhat childlike proportions. The face does look weird though. I think because the expression isn't as exaggerated as it sould be.
>>11786671>His head looks too smallThe head on the original toy always looked too big, you're just too used to it to notice I guess. New one actually has japanese robot proportions like in the anime.
>>11786583>>11786585I like the sand colour but I think keeping the blue and bits of red clashes with it too much. I'd have preferred a more green-tone deco, something akin to Rolling Thunder Optimus.Speaking of, I'm disappointed we didn't get that design out of the GI Joe collab line.
>>11786671You seem confused, Missing Link is the line where theyre made to be accurate to the toys

>>11786722It almost seems like they felt the need to keep the red and blue because those are the iconic colors
Bombshell has always been my favorite of the trio. I think I just like his mouth grill and horn and that they make him look like an evil bug knight. Also, maybe I'm stupid or it's just my copy, but his arms were a bitch to tab into the legs in bug mode.
>dug up Kingdom Rodimus>he's still goodNo idea what they could possibly modify or add to make the new one seem viable, other than the facesculpt that I warmed up toI'd imagine it'd just be Marvel vs Sunbow designs, but he'd lose his sword (from Regeneration One) and possibly his rifle (I don't remember what guns he used in the show, possibly his older pair), in exchange for ???
>>11786659>I was holding out for the rumored Target SS86 Inspections three packwell, now I feel retarded for getting Kickback alone while he was on sale, fuck
>>11786779Who knows, they could be battle damaged or dead variants too.
>>11786552It's been a long time, but we can once more say, Takara won again!
>>11786775The only reasonable thing you could do with another shot at a Commander Rodimus is to make him an all-on-one transformation, except there's no way to do that in scale with 86 Optimus, Megatron, Magnus. Either the robot is way too big or the vehicle will be laughably small.
>>11786554If they're just going to do shit like this for any "weird" g1 toy then my interest in missing link is a good as dead.
>>11786789I didn't mind what they did with Titanium Rodimus, I wanted that as a kid. But then you miss out on the trailer being a fun separate thing/waste of space.I'm sure whatever Hasbro does, it'll be disappointing for everyone
>>11786794Well the Ironhide is pretty much the weirdest g1 toy so it can't get any worse.
It's amazing how varied Sentinel Prime's depictions are. Most characters designs across series are very much in-line with one another, the most notable case besides is probably Megatron before Animated started bringing his designs back in line with G1 again.

>>11786834I don’t necessarily mind characters using their “iconic” looks, I just wish we got more variety on the characters used. When was the last time characters like Hoist or Novastar got a substantial role>>11786861I’m trying to remember if he ever uses those in BWII. I love how over the top his design is, it’s a shame he isn’t used as much as Megatron or Magmatron
>>11786866I also like how over the top he is, I just think he really needed proportion help, especially in his other modes. I still don't like the drill just splitting and becoming pauldrons, storing the dragon head inside..

I can’t figure out how tall this guy is supposed to be. I’ve tried measuring based on other figures near it, but none of the comparisons are consistent
>>11786980insanitude>>11786984He's a fuck of a lot taller than 7 inches. Look at him compared to the MP rhinox down there. 7 inches isn't even as long as my hand, and voyagers are usually pushing that
>>11786991My best guess is that he’s around 9 inches based on some other pictures I used to compare, but it’s hard to tell due to the angle
>>11786991>7 inches isn't even as long as my hand>>11786992>around 9 inchesAlright so it's more like 5 inches. Or, as the ancients say, a bit under 6 inches.
>>11786980Not that anon, but to put it simply, this is garbage which the TFwiki treats like absolute canon. "Ask Vector Prime" was set up sort of similar to the letters pages of old TF comic books, where fans could write in and get responses from people acting in-character as various TFs, such as Grimlock, Blaster, Dreadwind, etc., except in this case, the replies would come from "Vector Prime," whose powers could allow him to look into any TF universe/continuity for answers. Jim Sorenson was the primary responder as Vector Prime in this account. The guy fancies himself a great TF writer, having penned a few mostly forgettable FunPub stories, but since he failed to have enough creative talent for a significant impact, he used opportunities like this (as well as other things his entries for The Allspark Almanac) to latch onto the franchise like a leech and dictate what he wants to be canon without having to pitch, write, and get approval for actual stories to justify it. To make matters worse, he seems incapable of leaving his absolutely retarded politics out of it, resulting in preachy, masturbatory left-wing fever dreams like what's in that screenshot. Imagine a failed writer (who failed for a reason) being given a soapbox to conjure up the stupidest bits of continuity you've ever heard, all out of thin air, without needing to write stories to justify the existence of any of it. Any sane fandom would mock this trash into obscurity, but instead, the people running the TFwiki lap this stuff up like dogs, putting references to it in countless pages, treating it as authoritative as the real fiction from shows, movies, comics, etc. It makes it so that the only thing more embarrassing than the TFwiki itself, is the fact that Hasbro treats it as a reliable source for info when designing toys.
>>11786611>TankHe's gonna be another Tarn repaint, isn't he?
>>11786984Seems similar to Magmatron
>>11786996 >the only thing more embarrassing than the TFwiki itself, is the fact that Hasbro treats it as a reliable source for info when designing toys.Yeah the writers a fag but if the wikis images were good it really wouldnt matter that hasbro used them. Problem is they aren't, meanwhile Seibertron has high quality images of the toys from all angles, and this isn’t used because...
>>11787002Tarn has 28 steps.
>>11787012I actually theorized that Hasbro has been using images from Seibertron because the first page of Armada Jetfire's toy has it mistransformed almost exactly like the new toy replicates, though the original toy's instructions also leave it mistransformed, so it could be coincidence
>>11786824>BUZZ? I'M MISSUS NEZBIT

>>11787101The guy you're talking about wasn't an IDW writer.

I don't want to come across sounding mean or dismissive but is someone paying you to post this way? Or does it bring you pleasure?
>>11787163>They DID sneak a whole bunch of fanon by HasbroYou may want to reread this part:>"the few responses to that request seem to indicate that most of the questions were written by the Almanac II's authors."In other words, the guys who were already writing the canon stuff were the ones asking Sorenson to come up with this shit - they were literally feeding him questions, meaning they knew what the responses were going to be before "hiding" them in the book. This was a coordinated effort, not some guy going rogue and hiding his own headcanon in the margins.
>>11787131Yeah but imagine if he had knees that could bend the right way.
>>11787194i'm pretty sure it's false flagging
>>11786554I must be the only faggot who had an Ironhide toy as a kid when he was new and hated how it looked nothing like how he did on the show and love this new Missing Link because it looks like how I imagined it should have been back then. Head > Slead
>>11787196I did. The Almanac deals with Animated. but they stuck a bunch of retcons for other continuities as Easter Eggs in the margins.so it wasn't the guys "already writing the canon" stuff because canon would've only corresponded to Animated. The wiki's whole stance is that it is published so it counts, and the wiki itself had a meltdown over people feeding Sorenson questions because they complained it was "gaming the system". Look at the Gobot's page. Some wiki authors got mad because by making AVP answer questions about Gobots, it made them officially Transformers lore and had to be covered by the wiki. so even some of them found the whole thing kinda dubious. there have been discussions on the whole thing.
>>11787204
>>11787203Same. For me it was Ratchet. For the longest time kid me was wondering if there was some secret mode that would give him a head and make him look more like the cartoon. So count me in as one looking forward to Missing Link Ironhide and Ratchet.
>>11787210Already got my Ironhide order in. Ratchet is an instant buy as soon as he is available too.
>>11787204>I did. The Almanac deals with Animated. but they stuck a bunch of retcons for other continuities as Easter Eggs in the margins. So? They're still people who were trusted by Hasbro to handle Transformers lore - just because the Almanac was about Animated, that doesn't mean the questions the writers were asking Sorenson had to be about Animated, too. Again, in case this wasn't already clear for you: These are the people who were already in charge of the lore. They knew exactly what they were doing. Nothing made it into that Almanac that wasn't greenlit by Hasbro.
>>11787214Yep, I'm sure Hasbro knew the writers of the ANIMATED Almanac were going to throw out canon information about ALL the Transformers fiction, including tons of shit they were never in charge of to begin with,And that's why they hid it as Easter Eggs (wiki's term for it) as opposed to straightforward information. You're 100% sure of this because, uh, you just want it to be true. It's really burning your ass that someone else doesn't think so huh?
>>11787217>Yep, I'm sure Hasbro knew the writers of the ANIMATED Almanac were going to throw out canon information about ALL the Transformers fictionIt had to be approved before it could be printed. And again, it wasn't just one guy writing it, like you were suggesting.>It's really burning your ass that someone else doesn't think so huh?Well, for starters, I'm not the anon you were originally talking to. Honestly, I don't care about how canon any of it is either way - this is just what you'd call "stirring the pot". It's always fun to make autists reee.
>>11787203>>11787210The one half decent argument I've seen for the look of Missing Link Ironhide/Ratchet is that they are a tad too show accurate, and don't have enough "transitional" jank that would be less final model. Like how Great Car Rally Ratchet is *mostly* the cartoon model but also has some extra detail from the box art and somehow includes the treads from the sled as his own feet. That Takara focused too much on "here's a G1 toy Ratchet that looks like the show" instead of "here's a G1 toy Ratchet that would *inspire* the show".
>>11787222so I guess all those other mistakes people mentioned earlier in the thread, Ruckus, Roadburner, MAGA Jazz, none of those were actually mistakes because nothing slips by Hasbro. And as for stirring the pot, I said ONE thing and you have been arguing with me since
>>11787226>you have been arguing with me sinceKek, this is is my fourth post in this entire thread. Like I said, I'm not the person who was arguing with you. You really are having a fucking episode over this, aren't you? That's funny.

I asked aaron an unrelated question at a con once but I think his answer is relevant to this trainwreck of a threadHe basically said that Hasbro was more concerned that each toy was getting enough spotlight than the minutiae of whatever minor lore or plot continuity a particular media piece was putting out, so long as it hit the really broad strokes and was fine from a 10-mile viewThere is a reason that even attempts at larger continuities like Aligned, UT and the Bay films turned into clusterfucks and y'all'd probably have better mental health if you put that level of care into trying to analyze this shitI want to say the original question was how the hell did wheelie being a sexpest make it into the final cut of rotf but its been a long time, I remember the answer more than the question that led to it
>>11786552Any reason we arent talking about Rexblade? He looks like if Grimlock was part of a Korean toyline
>>11787110What the heck is this from? Wasn't part of the original concept for Cybertron that it's a rogue planet which no longer had a parent star to orbit?

>>11787259I don't like itTakaras been doing some interesting stuff, but this goes too far into "generic" and lacks any real "transformer" nessMost likely because of its ridiculous proportions
>>11787271I love his dumbass dinosaur ATV mode or whatever it's meant to be. it rocks.
>>11787217>Yep, I'm sure Hasbro knew the writers of the ANIMATED Almanac were going to throw out canon information about ALL the Transformers fiction, including tons of shit they were never in charge of to begin withHow exactly do you think IP development for a Hasbro property works?

>>11787277would it have saved a whale if they just fucking made t-reges shaped like t-reges?>>11787279it's probably his best mode, how sad is that.
>>11787279Giving any robot a sword(or hammer) that's nearly as big as they are automatically makes them about 5x cooler, Hasbro has much to learn on this front
>>11787279It's strange that they're using a 3D printed prototype for the promotional photos, when it's out in a month. You can see the striations in every photo, but very clearly here.
>>11786621There's only one Sentinel Prime. Accept no imitators.
>>11787286when they're chonky like this, yes. no other option will do. and I HATE when they do chonkybots with tiny shitty guns, or like really LONG thin guns?but when they're not, gigantoweapons kinda suck and look weird.
>>11787288why wouldn't they be using resin? I mean if this is PLA then it's pretty fucking impressive, the striations are verrry subtle. I'd definitely use one of this quality to make my own custom shit.
>>11787293>why wouldn't they be using resinWeird right? But some of those surfaces even have that smoothed-over top layer thing. I haven't used resin myself so I don't really know the tolerances but my guess is because they need it to transform, clip together, etc
>>11787295oh good point, that shit can be brittle.

>>11786621>>11787290Please, gentlemen, please, there's four Sentinels and there's room for all of them to be awesome.Animated, DotM, Megatron Origin, and technically War for Cybertron :)
I think Kickback is probably the most visually improved figure from this set just by virtue of his wings being silver. Never cared for the clear plastic on the Legacy release. I've also always loved that his weapon is just a laser tommy gun. TFA Insecticons should have had a 30s gangster theme.
>>11787317It especially works because that's how Kickback even gets his name.> Kickback is as charming a guy as you'll ever meet - but it is a charm rooted in an uncommonly cruel cleverness. The singular purpose of any friendship that this Insecticon begins is to dig up embarrassing facts about the other robot or person so that Kickback can influence his "friend" into doing his bidding. Humans are particularly susceptible to his seductive talents, but even Autobots have been known to succumb. The only thing Kickback enjoys more than recruiting these unwilling double agents is destroying them after he's exhausted their usefulness.
>>11787286I haven't been super interested in Wild King due to how samey and partsformery the energy beasts are and how kinda bland the larger figures look(although world dragnus is kinda cool), I hope they do more stuff like Rexblade in the future>>11787292I have to disagree, when i lend my little guys the swords from larger figures they immediately look way cooler.>>11787302Rex Kaiser looks so friggin cool but the miniforce guys are just way too big it's ridiculous. I'd have to go with Rexblade by virtue of him being reasonably sized
>>11787317Can't wait to get this set to complete the 3 DMC Seekers. The insecticons are just an awesome bonus. love the silver wings
>>11787322it's probably fine for a kids line and better than cyberworld but wild king figures still look too cheap/waffly for me. plus i'd have to import them which makes them even more expensive so I don't think its worth it even if I think some of them look kinda neat. Id rather just put that money towards takara imports if I'm going to be paying import costs.
I don't really have strong feelings on this Shrapnel or the character, but he looks as nice as the others and the way his weapons combine is badass (badass).>>11787318That's fucking hilarious, old TF comic and toy bios are such kino.>>11787323I've yet to take that Skywarp out of the box, but it's a nice looking version of the mold. Everything in the set is very worth the money, kind of thinking about picking up the Reflector and Thundercracker set now.
>>11787340Yeah, Budiansky clearly had fun with that. He doesn't just kick back, he kickbacks. Of course, Larry Hama still wins the award for having fun while writing toy bios. GI Joe bios are just full of him making jokes for himself as much as making a cool toy personality kids would want to buy.
>Delicious, eh, Shrapnel?>A little heavy on the electrons...electrons>>11787341Yeah, the Marvel TF comics are a really great balance of goofy fun while also taking the storytelling and characters seriously enough for you to keep buying into it. And Hama's a fucking legend. I'm not even a Joe guy and I still respect his stuff from a distance. In an age where long form storytelling in comics is basically dead, it's awesome that shit like Real American Hero gets to exist and continue after more than 300 issues. I know some of that is because there's no retirement plan for creators and Hama has bills to pay, but still.
>dude le heckin slop Go back to twitter
>>11787324That's how i feel generally abt Wild King as well, but Rexblade is something genuinely new, and he's juuuust Brave enough that I end up really wanting it, though the import fee does temper that.Cyberworld is just sad though, it does a lot of cool and fun new stuff as well, and I'd probably like the designs in a different toyline, but nobody having any friggin elbows is just pitiful. I can't imagine many kids are dying to play with them

>>11787371Can't say you aren't getting your money's worth. But like, at a certain point it's less of a toy and more a piece of furniture
>>11787223I do kind of get how some people think ML Ironhide/Ratchet look TOO good for being authentic G1 toys and kind of stand out among the others now but it's also kind of funny to think that some other people don't like this Missing Link release because it 'isn't janky/shitty enough' kek
>>11787411I think it looks pretty cool (and I tend to prefer a number of older toys to their modern counterparts) but I understand. It almost looks like an alternate take on Masterpiece or something. I think it preserves enough of the G1 flavor to pass, though it makes me wish they had been similarly liberal with Sunstreaker and even Optimus just to see how they handled it.

As an adult, transforming the legs of the Encore release is already a bit of a chore due to the size and strong ratchets.I still would have loved to have it as a kid, though. Incredible toy, way better than the Titans Returns disaster.
>>11787186Is it easier for you to process the people you disagree with in your head if you group them all together as having the same opinion? I work with the intellectually disabled so I've seen a lot of that.
