Finished putting together this SD Neue Ziel. Would love to get the HG as well at some point but it's kinda rare and also too damn huge.
Does anyone know if those third-party emotion manipulator style hands for 1/144 kits will fit on Late UC Gundams? I just now realized that I could give my MG Victory, V2 Assault Buster, Crossbone Full Cloth, F90 and Cluster Gundam full manipulable hands.
LITERALLY only bots got it. Went out of stock in less than a second. Why the fuck aren't Bandai stopping this?

And I want a cheap but decent marker, not the shit they sell at Michael's I'm testing this on a toy I bought on eBay for $1.99, I don't need to waste $14.99 for a marker unless it's going to magically force my hand to draw perfect straight web lines

>>11788822I'm going to a Mall in Arcadia (suburban area in far north east Metro LA). Besides Orange County, it's the next highest concentration of SEA dispora in California. Can I just say I fucking hate this thing. It broke apart and now I can't put it fucking back together
>>11799952Going from Blokees to MG "Ver. Ka" is a giant leap in terms of difficulty because those kits come with transforming or core fighter gimmicks. Maybe try High Grade or normal Master Grade next time.
>>11800202Anon, the actual thing that differentiates Ver. Ka is the huge waterslide sheet. The various Balls and Crossbones and Sinanjus and Unicorns use the Ver. Ka molds but aren't always labelled as such. So in this case, "normal" Master Grades are not actually any easier than a Ver. Ka kit, and HG kits remain the easiest for practice.

She can't decide
its weird that I can barely find any forums posting and discussing about SMPslike the plastic quality and some of the engineering is way better than gunpla and other plamos
Okay Gunpla General, old snapfag getting back into gunpla (mainly girlpla but have picked up some mobile suits and my first zoid for the backlog).Redpill me on Godhands. Are they just overhyped nippers with only marginally better plastic nub trimming than a normal set of nippers and an x-acto knife? Or do they remove the need for a hobby knife all together? I’m just getting back to model-building after years and need to know whether I should splurge on such a tool. Way back I built one PG, multiple MGs, several HGs (both 1/100th and 1/144ths) plus some older gundam kits before Bandai started standardizing engineering such as the 1/144th Victory and V2 Gundams from the 90s. No experience with RGs, only have built 1 30MSister, 1 Figurerise Standard, and 1 30MPreference. All these were with cheap-ish plastic cutters and a hobby knife, which worked fine for me all this time but am I doing this all on hard-mode without a Godhand?
>>11804656You can get similar ultra-thin single blade nippers from Chinese brands like Dspiae and Stedi for half the price. IMO, what you should be checking out are nano glass files, they're more convenient for nub removal than hobby knife.
>>11804699>similarOnly if you don't care about plastic stress. But if you paint stress doesn't matter.
>>11804703If you truly care about plastic stress you would be sanding the nub instead of cutting it flush.
>>11804726But if I can cut if flush without stress, why would I spend all that time sanding and risk oversanding or damaging surrounding detail?
>>11804730The issue is that on single blade nippers, the blade and the blunt side aren't perfectly level. So you'll end up with the tinniest nub that you need to clean with knife or files.
>>11804745The lip is there so you can grip the edge of the part. The blade goes flush with the part and the blunt side gives you the leverage to cut.Of course, theres exceptions when the sprue is on a flat face, but generally the lip is an advantage and not a problem.Though I will agree that dspiae nippers are definitely good enough. Cutting 3 mm runner isnt a realistic comparison, especially when the speed and force of the cut also matter a lot.Source: I can get perfect cuts on my chink 3.0 nippers.
>RG Refined Barzam modification kit>HG Serpent >HG Gelgoog 3>Now thisdoes not our faith in official bandai gunpla deserve to be rewarded instead of being slapped in the face by KO companies?
>>11804986A 1/144 Serpent is worthless when all the EW designs are 1/100.
>>11804986Where are they going to sell this? I gave up on bandai ever making any of the amphibius mobile suits from TB.
RIP Rishetta guy
A long gone /gpg/ oldfag once said in this thread that your skill level is not about how difficult a kit you can build, it's about how big of a mistake you can recover from. The mistake was not to liquid-mask a super-brittle part and hope the mask will somehow come off without the part breaking, the mistake was not replacing those 0.7mm plastic rods with steel ones from the very beginning.Oh well, natural STAHL looks better than plastic painted with Alclad Stainless Steel anyway, so I guess it worked out for the better in the end (the hardest bit was dremelling out a groove for the rod in a tiny part).
how do you use this tool and what is it?i see asian people in videos using it like a magic paint eraser
>>11806369Soft tips that you put a small amount of thinner on to clean panel lines. They're reusable. Probably use them for other things as well.
>>11806227Damn, that's really minuscule. What kit that part's from?
>>11806666https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10859909
>>11806910>easy version
>>11807103The "hard" version has PE wheel spokes, which to me is actually way easier both to assemble and to paint. I would pay more for it, but it wasn't available.
Getting back into the hobby after a long time out. What's the strat for getting things smooth after sanding? Running my finger over the sanded part it always feels off. Also been using an exacto knife to file nubs down but it feels like they always take more than they should. Like if I'm trying to file things to be flush it feels like they end up chipping inwards a little bit and creating a divot.
>>11807396What do you mean by off? Is it not flush enough or does the sanded part have different finish and texture than the non sanded part? If it's the latter you can get some cheap nail buffer to sand that part until it matches the surrounding area. If you want dedicated tool for it then you can get Gunprimer Balancers.
>>11807396My process is generally to double-nip the piece off the runner, hobby knife the nub down as close to flush as possible, then glass file until smooth. As long as the surface feels smooth to the touch, the extra sheen from the glass file doesn't overly matter underneath some paint.
I kinda like these mini/micro versions of regular power tools. They are obviously quite useless for any legitimate woodworking, but for cutting plaplate and such? Perfect. They also run on the same variable 12-24V power supply my watchmakers drills run on.
Anybody built this? Bought the HG without doing research thinking the partsforming would be minimal but found that it's extensive.
>>11811547This is a notoriously fragile and fucky kit, too many structural compromises were made to make it transformable
>>11811547Half the people here will tell you it's a hand grenade aka prone to exploding, half the people will tell you that it's a skill issue and there exists no bad kits ever ever whatsoever
>>11811196I've been dancing around the idea of buying one of these and a desktop drill and sander, since my other available options are industrial grade shit. Unfortunately, it'll have to wait until I get a bigger desk (and bigger workshop room).>>11811547I literally found one today at Hobby Lobby, snagged it since I've wanted a second one for kitbashing purposes for a while. That being said though, I'm a stupid crazy fuck who makes terrible irrational decisions.Conventional wisdom regarding RG Zeta is, it's fine so long as you pick one form and leave it in that form forever. The Revive Zeta is fine as a kit, because it doesn't make any structural compromises to facilitate the transformation the MS mode is quite good (at the very least it's a damn sight better than the old Delta Plus). So, your purchase of the HG was probably fine, unless you like the large amount of greebling that the RG gives you. You don't want to transform the thing unless you buy a metal frame that's more expensive than the kit itself.
>>11811598>desktop drillThat one will be the most useful of them all.
>>11811598>The Revive Zeta is fine as a kitThe collar gets in the way of the head and the numerous stickers will wear off, and I found it very underwhelming as a kit for some reason, but you're absolutely right that it does its job without exploding. Granted it chose to compromise nothing for the Wave Rider, instead opting to give you a big adapter to plug half the Zeta's parts onto, but still
>>11811709The honest truth is, the Zeta transformation system isn't going to work at 1/144 scale without some serious advances in engineering and materials. The RG Zeta was an impressive achievement at the time, but much like the MG Victory it's something that works more as a showcase of engineering than an actual product. Besides the fact that these are model kits and not toys, the vast majority of people are content leaving the kit in MS mode since it's a lot cooler-looking and more posable that way. And in that sense, it can be perfectly fine to never give it a transformation system in the first place.MG and PG can get away with transformation systems because they're bigger and you can use larger volume of plastic to make the transformation pieces stronger and more able to withstand the transformation process, but even they end up making compromises (for instance, how many of them implement ab crunch?). At RG scale, you may well need a metal frame, which could end up costing more than the entire original kit.
>>11811710>some serious advances in engineering and materialsCan you do itPlease>the vast majority of people are content leaving the kit in MS modeThe Wave Rider mode for the HG is impressive and I want my Mk-II on it, it's just that the reassembly between modes sparks zero joy.Do the MG and PG Zetas have no issues, both for transformation as well as in general?>RG Metal BuildMay as well buy a PG with that money...

I play 40k so I'm no stranger to putting together models or modifying/painting if recommended.I know they aren't models, but I was also considering the Metal Build Strike Gundam Heliolopolis Ver. or the Metal Composite version of the Odaiba Unicorn Gundam from the Tamashii Nations shop in the event that I don't find a limited kit that I like, anyone have experience with either?
>>11813513Gundam Bases are starting to pop up all over the globe, so their exclusivity is going to be a bit less "exclusive" in the future. I went to the one in Hong Kong a few weeks back, and they had the RG Nu and Sazabi from Side-F (albeit at significant price increases compared to buying it at Fukuoka). If there's already a Gundam Base in your country, you'll have opportunities to get exclusives there instead. That being said, if you're new to Gunpla you might want to cut your teeth on something more basic, and save any exclusive purchases for after you've gotten better at the hobby. To that effect, you could try looking up hobby stores in Shizuoka and finding ones that have P-Bandai exclusives in stock, since those can be harder to get than Gundam Base exclusives (or at least the ones that haven't been reprinted in ages). That means you could try looking for a RG Perfect Strike, or Destiny Impulse, or whatnot, and build that later on. If you insist on Gundam Base exclusives though, you could go for the HG G-Self Perfect Movie Version, Moon Gundam with Long Rifle, or a Unicorn Perfectibility.

>>11813537I know there's more G-Bases opening up, but there's only one location in my country that's also not close to me, so I'm trying to find something that really reminds me of my trip.I'm very used to assembling model kits, but I'm also not very in-tune with Gundam as a franchise. I would likely be looking for something pretty basic/iconic design-wise.
got my f91 harrison
>>11813979I prefer this one over the 2.0 version because:- It recreates the color scheme of how it appears in the Steel 7 manga (white parts in the limbs, opposed to the full blue color scheme as it first appeared in the original Crossbone story).- Its leg articulation is waaaaay better compared to the 2.0, which for some unknown and insane reason, restricted the bending knee to 45° or less (wtf man, hard to believe a 20 year old kit is better in that aspect). The full ABS inner frame looks good, but also feels a bit... squeaky at the joints. I highly recommend to sand the pegs and ball joints just a little bit before inserting them in their respective sockets to improve their movement but more importantly, to avoid breaking anything.I didn't do that with my previous X-1 Full Cloth and one of the wrist joints ended up snapping so I'm going to do my best to avoid a similar accident with this one.
>>11813513>Metal Build Strike Gundam Heliolopolis Ver.I have the original MB Aile Strike, it is a cool figurepic related is the daban copy kit of the metal build mold with a diecast framethe main gripe is that particular edition you mention does not come with any of the backpacks and the vanilla Strike feels a bit boring>Metal Composite version of the Odaiba Unicorn GundamI have the original release with the label number 1006. The transformation is waaaaay better compared to the MG unicorn kit, but is also bit barebones, as the awakened version is the one with the green colors and the funnel shieldsI can't find reviews of that particular unicorn you mention but it seems the plastic comes molded in a slight gray color instead of pure white or noncolored plastic so that mya help against a bane of the original release which was it tended to become yellowmine still hasn't but it may do so in the future
>>11813991pic of the daban strike I mentioned
>>11813513RG Unicorn special coating version is very cool, I recommend it. Nu titanium finish is also good. The Haro and rx78 in gundam base color are also worth it. Everything else are meh.
>>11813981Might be worth putting some silicone oil in the scary joints too.
>>11788436Where did you get it from and how much?
There we go, finished my RG Sazabi.Don't these two look great together?
>>11814826needs a white one
>>11814926I was planning on it, but I kind of want to go for the HG and the red plated or black MG Daban one so I have two MGs.Maybr next month I'll get the white Star one.
>>11804703>That SPN-120Genuinely what the fuck am I doing wrong. I feel like I've tried to cut it like every kinda way and there's always visible stress. Quick, slow, flushed down, etc. I feel retarded.
>>11804730If you don't have a little bit of damage on your kit how do you know that you've truly built it?
Do you think they'll ever reprint this Figure-Rise Standard MetalGreymon?
