The stone pieces are about the same grey the batcave patio will be, so I think darker buildings works better to separate the spaces. The darker they are the less weird the shadows from the figures falling across them will be, too. Haven't peeled the film off the mirror but it already adds a lot more light to the space.

how are you retards missing the point here, which is that the human elbow realistically moves a lot closer to 180° than 90°. all double elbows are unrealistic just because actual elbows are single jointed, but it doesn't change the actual range, which sucks on the mattel figures.

>>11820922Why do people get mad when their McFarlanes can't pose well but people seem fine with kid core figures from Mattel limits like no ankle joints and torso articulation? Is it just a different audience?
>>11820925Probably because they're $13 as opposed to almost $30 and that they're specifically not catering to collectors while still working well as stand ins. Are you going to shitpost all day when the collector line comes out too?

I didn't realize the Batmobile was on shelves already. Spontaneous Target run worked out great for me. And got a discount too.
>>11820938Well yeah, because when you compare them to their contemporaries in the same price bracket for the same target demographic and they posed like shit. Comparing a McFarlane to a Marvel Legend for example tells you all you need to know. Todd has good ideas that are just not implemented well. Ball joints for ankles and wrists, ball joint and cap for shoulders, and ball jointed torsos, mostly just the use of ball joints. Even Hasbro has started to adopt similar articulation by adding ball wrists to their Black Series figures and starting to implement the new shoulder system in Marvel Legends. But all those good ideas were burdened by issues. The ratchets in the ankles and wrists were far too big, causing the ankle or wrist to never rest in a good neutral position, if you wanted to stand your figure up in a neutral position, you had to rest the joint in between two of the ratchet points and that's just annoying. The shoulders felt kind of limited at times, and Marvel Legends has demonstrated that they don't need to be, plus for characters like Nightwing, they were too lazy to paint the shoulder caps which would break up the costume design. The torso joints were often limited for seemingly no reason, hindering range of movement, and the proportions were all over the place with sausage thighs and what not. Yeah, there was a lot of things to complain about with the line, especially when comparing it to something in it's same class. >>11820948I don't even really collect McFarlane, so I'm not sure why you think I'm the one raging about the kids line. I actually think it's pretty good.
>>11820948Jeets like this are why I can't afford RAM or a new SSD.
>>11820951Nice! Lucky!
>>11820953MLs were $23 rather quickly after DCMV launched, only a few years, and DCMV stayed at $20 for longer. Meanwhile these 13 dollar things with horrible limitations get lauded when they're 7 bucks less than $20 mcfarlanes that got shitcanned by posters here when they launched. The psychology of that $12.99 vs $19.99 is just too big a hurdle for you guys I guess. Even the complaining about torso articulation being limited when with the core line it isn't even there.
>>11820972Sorry that it upsets you anon, but maybe people just had lower expectations of the Core line and those expectations were blown out of the water. McFarlane and DC Core aren't trying to compete with one another. They're catering to two different demographics at two different price points. But whatever, you do you and keep getting mad at the fact that people are enjoying the Core line for what it is. I'll never understand why some of you get so fucking bothered by complete strangers who you'll never meet liking something that you don't. I don't like McFarlanes and don't collect them, but you don't see me sperging out whenever someone wants to discuss them. Some of you barely qualify as people with this type of behavior.

As someone who likes both Core and Multiverse I'd say Core is like a checklist of all the things people wanted Mcfarlane to change. 6 inch, better proportions, smooth elbows and knees, no ratchets, cheaper, even the name implies you'll get "Core" versions of the characters and not be stuck with Injustice or Longbow Hunters Green Arrow. Unfortunately we're not getting any of the stuff Todd's guys got right.
>>11820948You're like the only one who posts AI Jarret. Just leave your trip on so you get filtered.
>>11820980I don't understand that behavior either man but it's how personal it choose to conduct themselves here. I don't like it but I can't change it, all I can do is leave. >>11821063>There's no way Star Sapphire or Larfleeze would get made in Core.depends on how they handle it. the wwe line puts all kinds of lower and mid card wrestlers exclusively in their basic line because they're not worth making elite figures of.
>>11821228If that happens, collectors would get pissed because of the shit articulation of their favorites and no higher tier option. If Todd could make a Larfleeze then Mattel definitely can. It makes more sense to make the collector line entirely ignoring the core, making the core only for younger fans or poorer fans.

I’m starting to get worried. We’re all hoping the collector line is like motu chronicles but what if it really is just core with added articulation? If they were $22 max I guess I wouldn’t have a problem but non wired capes for collector would be a deal breaker so I’d just go import for caped characters. I don’t think Mattel is going to wiff this but they need to go ahead and show us an example of their collector line for people to get a realistic idea.
What's wave 2 of the Mattel DC kids line going to be?
>>11821438SupermanJohn Stewart Black Batman Jokerized Batman Wave 3 isDeathstroke Scarecrow Wonder Woman TBD Take WW with a grain of salt
>>11821439There’s also supposed to be a joker van
>>11821434the wwe line is your best comparison point right now. wwe basics are like $11, have similar articulation scheme to the core dc line, while elites are $25ish and seamlessly fit into a collection of basics, but with more articulation. don't be surprised to see core parts reused in the collector line. the wwe elite line is inconsistent with accessories. sometimes they're softgoods, sometimes they're just soft plastic shells that impede articulation. the real thing you'll want to hope for is that the collector line is closer to the wwe ultimate line, but even then those are pretty inconsistent. some are great, extra articulation than the elites, more accessories, better accessories, and sometimes they're nothing special but still $35.
>>11821434>if it really is just core with added articulation?screencap this then because that is exactly what it’s going to be. WWE has been their cash cow and they’re going to follow that exact formula. the shit WWE basics aren’t much different from their “Elite” line, and then there’s a further, slightly less shitty step above that they charge a premium price for because you get a toe joint and a butterfly joint.the problem with some (most) of you is that you weren’t around for Mattel’s bullshit with DCUC. they will buck the shit out of you, cut every corner, and have the same distribution problems you bitched about with Todd. you are going to be disappointed, full stop.

I've stopped counting the days I've spent waiting at walmarts across the greater southern Illinois area looking and hoping to find those sweet sweet mattel core (children's line) DC action figurines. It seems I'm destined to die alone, un loved and without a new figgy to stuff up my bussy. I did get lucky at Ollie's (good stuff cheap©) and found a copy of Superman:Doomsday so I'm almost done re reading the death and return of Superman. Never read these comics, but for $4 I'll give it a chance. I also found Hardware season one from the Milestone universe (?) not sure how Milestone ties into that era of DC but I think he looks cool and really deserves a figure since Todd has done a couple of Static figures and one Icon figure if I'm not mistaken. Idk, the book has sienkiewicz art so I'll enjoy it regardless of continuity. And the book that made these pointless trips actually worthwhile for me, silver surfer epic collection vol 6, Thanos Quest. Silver surfer #50 was one of the first books I bought with my money so not only is it a banger of a story but it's got sentimental value. Hey, maybe I'll the mattel stuff next week. I just don't see a need to order them yet, the pics that you guys post helped convince me to give them a shot and I guess I'm just getting antsy to give the figures a try.
>>11822255Are you kidding? We collectors get ratcheted slop in McFarlanes, MLs, Classified and Black series while the DC core line gets smooth normal joints like we used to have on figures back in the 90s? What the fuck?

>>11822368I liked the story with The Brotherhood of Dada where the Justice League gets sucked into a painting. Dee Tyler, the second Phantom Lady, was in the background and aside from her four issue intro in Action Comics, that's her only appearance until she gets killed by Deathstroke during some meme event.I suspect Grant Morrison fucking loves Phantom Lady. He mentioned her in Supergods and she keeps showing up in his comics.
>>11822280Ironically he was the one character that pushed me to read Batman comics for sounding like an interesting foil to Batman, beyond just constantly watching TAS as a kid. The whole Knightfall saga was like a gateway drug for me.
Painted the clock tower and added some darker blues and greys to highlight the shape without making it too distracting.Cut some foam to eyeball how the forward bat patio section will look. Thinking some trees between the buildings and the platform to add more depth.I'm going to finish the frame and sculpting the rocky cave wall before I paint the buildings anymore, I'm still not sure how bright or dark they should be and throwing slabs of white foam right next to them isn't helping. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have all the construction done and all that'll be left is painting.
>>11822644Nobody asked
>>11822644That's awesome, keep us updated!
Fuck you jarred>Unmans your starman
>>11822761That's neat!If you don't mind some criticism, I think you'd be better off finding some star-shaped stickers the appropriate size, applying them where you want stars, and then securing them with a top coat of some kind. Stars are one of the main sticker shapes, so it should be easy to find ones the right size at a well stocked hobby/art supply store.
>>11822771Didn't think that'd stay on. The shop that made vinyl stickers closed so i just said fuck it I'll learn how to paint a star.
>11822453>11822644>11822750
>>11822368It kills you? It guts me. I really do enjoy DP, I'll take any version of robot man and Todd and keep with the monkey themed mini figures by packing a Dorthy in with Cliff. Ah well it's too late for Todd and mattel likely won't touch the team in any version, but they did make a bee girl for their superheroine doll line several years ago. Guess the best hope is for a Chinese company to make them.
>>11822761Painting soft parts leaves many with regrets. Beware the cracking. If the figure is articulated a lot it will occur faster. You did sand before applying paint and apply a varnish to seal as well after right?
I might just try to find the kenner figure. I really do like this look, it's corny to give Superman a Batman styled utility belt with pouches but that's what looked cool back then
>>11823000Corny can be good.
>>11823000A leaker promised Todd was going to do this. I saved the Injustice 2 head for making a custom, but they never released a buck with the straps and pouches.I also thought about making a trenchcoat version but generic Superman bodies became kinda scarce, and they started using doll coats instead of plastic.
>>11823061I think it's time we accept that not all the leaks are going to come out. There just isn't enough time. 2026 is basically half way over and some of the preorders are out to September and October. They may have just chosen to rerun the old molds people wanted with this Vault stuff.
>>11823061That would've been pretty neat, Todd didn't seem to be as interested in the various Superman incarnations as he was Batman. It's pretty cool you guys got the blue/red versions of Superman though and with the notable exception of George Reeves Todd did cover the movie versions of Superman.
>Welcome to the Matt cave.
>>11823241Did he ever collect spinmaster?
>>11823241Kek
>>11823061Todd lost the license so they were canceled. It required new sculpting they were no longer willing to do.
>>11823277Are the Absolute DC figures in the leaks fake?
Superman is very angular
>>11823344They’re real. Don’t expect a bunch of unique sculpting.
>>11823364They cant be made without a bunch of unique sculpting as all except Supes require raised portions. Blank bucks wont work.
>>11823367Ok.
>>11823367Homie we got a new 52 supes on a blank buck
>>11822959Skirt is removable so I never have to actually handle it, she's just going to be in a flight stand to look pretty for my JLU collection. She's sealed and I took off a bit on the diaper. I've seen people take their figures into an ass blaster and shit like that to sand them but I don't do that I just take off big rub areas and seal each part individually with a few coats.
>>11823255yes.

>>11823605FYI every shown off 6 inch Mattel core figure and vehicles comes to around $330.
Saw Mattel’s collector line per my Chinese retailer friend. Welp some of you will be happy and some of you will come around or move to imports.
>>11823628If they aren't like Chronicles or WWE Ultimates, they're making a mistake. I mention the latter now because it looks like they've made a good few updates to those bodies, that will hopefully translate to Chronicles as well (the joints are there, the range isn't in some spots).
Oh and what that other anon ways saying about them releasing in October instead of January looks possible. They will definitely be getting sold over there by then. I guess he wasn’t bullshiting about being an insider lol

>>11823518We have a vtuber board that can't be true.
>>11823645Mattel and McFarlane are too cowardly to make a Phantom Lady anyway. My hopes are in some independent toy company making public domain heroes with kickstarters or something, but then she'd probably be like three inches tall and it'd be the red and blue version instead of the lemon and lime.I'm fully aware of how fucked I am and that's why I'm teaching myself how to use blender and make my own Phantom Lady minis, busts, and statues.
Or they'd give her the wrong colored goggles.Man, there's so many collectors who want iconic old school characters and here's one of the first female superheroes, written by one of the first female writers in comics, Ruth Roche, and drawn by a gay black man, Matt Baker, who together made a comic considered so scandalous that a schizo psychiatrist named Frederick Wertham screeched at Congress about Phantom Lady and it lead to the creation of the Comics Code. An important character with an important history in both the DC universe and the comics industry, but I guess McFarlane and Mattel are just milking the cow instead of making toys that matter."Cowards and thieves," I tell my Phantom Lady shrine.
>>11823708No one asked, stop talking to yourself.

>>11823605 This is why only dumb people say increases from $20 to $27 or $20 to $35* are nothing; because if you really collect a line, an increase like that will add up.*CEs are basically just regular McFarlanes, there is nothing special about them, I didn't consent to those added accessories and card stands
>>11823703Kickstarters for toys are kind of winding down. We may be outside the time when that will fly anymore. There would also be no sense in having a sexy character like Phantom Lady made by Mattel or McFarlane. They would botch her and make her look far worse than that toy you have at >>11823708Only fully Chinese toy companies like Inart or Xesray could make her properly.
>>11823894Seems too good to be current mcfarlane so I'm skeptical these are real.

What was a DC Multiverse figure you were genuinely excited to find? Or maybe a figure were looking forward to when their release was confirmed? I like the lesser known characters so figures like wave rider or animal man or the JSA version Mr terrific were really cool to hear about. But the figure I was most stressed out over hoping to find or buy, for non scalper prices, was Wesley Dodds aka the Sandman. Im not that familiar with his golden age stuff but I really enjoyed Mystery Theatre and I like the JSA and that whole corner of DC with All Star Squadron and Infinity Inc. So while I normally won't let myself get bent out of shape over a toy this figure really got into my brain and today I remembered just how often I was checking target or eBay etc. As soon as I found one for $28 I jumped in and even paid for faster shipping just to make sure I actually had a Sandman figure. I can't really think of a figure from the series that was so make or break for me, I likely may have just stopped collecting them if I missed out on him. Have any of you felt this way about a specific figure? Which one?
if any figure needs a "greatest hits rerelease" or whatever its this guy. we have 239876423 knightfalls already
>>11824391>The good times>A b8nch of shit no one wanted so it binned hardLmao
>>11824391It was bad from the start dude
>>11824444They have used that mold tons of times, sometimes with a better wired cape
>>11824459I own 3 of those and alternate bucks of 3. They are good figures for the price I got them for. But do enjoy even worse figures for $34.99>>11824464Not for $12-$20 depending on the figure
>>11824476yeah but the only instance of it looking good is the year two figure and the spawn two pack one which are both a pain to find now, where all the knightfalls are easy to get still outside of the night people one
>>11823954Fitting for McFarlane.
>>11824476it'd be a good opportunity to get rid of that plastic cowl piece to make it more seamless, they even have the tooling to do it with the first appearance figures torso
Nightly update.Carved an arch into the cave side. I'll use rolled up foil to add a rocky texture to the flat side, but there's a lot more cave face than I expected so maybe I'll make a mount for all the extra batarangs I never use. Also put Robin in with Batman for the first time and their capes cover up most of the buildings I've been painting all week, so that's cool.
>>11824819The only man unafraid to post diorama progress notes here. He's committed, he must finish it
Stop replying to yourself
I'm bummed about Multiverse ending right after we get a CWverse Supergirl. There's a lot of cool figures they could have done with that door opened, like Red Daughter or Dreamer

>>11825175Gee anon I wonder what you are implying here. It seems it may be you are going to take out your Robin figure and have fun posing with Batman fighting crime. I am sure that is what you mean.
I need to dust. It’s funny a Mattel figure works better than a mcfarlane figure in the 89 Batmobile.

>>11825330i didnt even think that was darkseid at first. jesus
I always miss chase figures in my area but these are always left behind.
>>11825336Thats because no one wants him. At least he has someone to collect him. You are giving a toy a home.
>>11825170>>11825171That's Red Daughter, a duplicate of Supergirl created by Black Kryptonite who ended up in fake post-Soviet state without any memories. She only wears the helmet in like one scene but I would still want a figure of her to include it because girls in faceless helmets are hot
The new McFarlane Supergirl doesn't exactly blow me away, has any fancier company announced one? Like a Figuarts or Mafex or something?
>>11825336I'm hoping that the gangbuster at the other Walmart nearby hits clearance so I can get one to open. Same thing with The Guardian. You guys think mattel will do a Bibbo or Dubbliex? Clawster would be a reasonable choice for the line, kids like to have monsters for superman to fight right?
>>11825366Thanks for the pic. I think gi Joe classified has two female figures with helmeted heads, the ferret atv driver and the baroness with coil bike. The ferret driver has a more ATV helmet with a brim while the baroness has a more typical fullface helmet.

>>11826033Given all you guys buying it now Im not so sure.
>>118260327in is a bad scale but Mattel will never make the same kind of figures Todd did in the first 2-3 years so it was never really a choice for me. Maybe Mattel will make Absolute figures and I should wait for those though. Anyone think Absolutes from Mattel are basically a certainty?
>>11826080That's the idea anyway. They're making better ones later on I think. Batman addiction is pretty strong though, right.
>>11826118Like what, Speeding Bullets Batman? Do you really need more than one Speeding Bullets Batman? That is the new hotness nowadays, makes sense that they'd get to those pretty soon. Kinda like what happened with Metal.
>>11826204It's kind of assuming Mattel's figures will be better, easier to pose than Todd's. That's why one would want a Mattel Speeding Bullets instead of Todd's. I never actually got Todd's.
>>11821429Awesome pose, anon
>>11825946Thanks. Just bought two for $13 each, free shipped.I'll still probably buy the CT and Tobeyman but hey, it's less money than a greasy Toddler figure, they won't be wearing lipstick, plus the front AND back look like they are fully painted!
>>11823000You can also head-canon that it's Jor-El, like maybe the Superman/Jor-El equivalent of Flashpoint Thomas Wayne as Batman. Or it's Jor-El doing research on another planet before Krypton goes kablooey.
