For a youtube cartoon I thought it was alright. We're potentially witnessing the last attempt on Mattel's part to market the franchise to young children. More than anything else it reminds me of the other webisodes mattel has produced for the likes of imaginext, dc, and hot wheels. Now I'm just wondering if there's any merchandise planned to coinside with the series. Seems like a great jumping off point for Imaginext MOTU.
>>
>>11825198
I imagine it's an E-tail exclusive convienience. That core four pack with goatman was packaged similarly, as were the hot wheels.

Ya, as an early exclusive that would have been nice. As is, it doesn't introduce much. They could have at least included some extra accessories, like the goblet, and idk, maybe Trap-Jaw's dismembered arm for He-Man.
>>
>>11825183
I got to say, movie skelly looks great. I love how they've done his head and hood, I think the crook on the havok staff is so simple but makes such an impact that I wish it was the standard design from the beginning.

Really fucking sucks that the few stores in my area aren't stocking the movie figures. I guess theyve chosen to carry toy story 5 (?!?!?) instead of either the motu movie or the new DC line.

The idea the creator of the toys had was

>Skulls are a symbol of mysticism
>Factions would fight over Greyskull hence the flag that flipped around depending on if you wanted the Evil Warriors or MotU to own it
>The castle was the skull of a giant buried in the ground with a castle built around it
>It has time warps inside of it with weapons from every era
>random people and groups would try to raid it but the more time they spent inside the more theyd go insane
>Skeletor became a skull wizard barbarian because he was thrown down the soul of wells sticker full of monsters which is why the castle and main bad guy have skulls
>something about ancient aliens cause of a few stickers like the space suit and computer
>>

>20 episodes
>episode one lightly focused on he-man
Let's say the next 9 each focus on the major heroic warriors, then the additional 10 focus on the evil warriors. Skeletor, Lynn, and Beastman like MAA and Teela each take up one ep each. If I had to guess we'll see Mek, Battle Cat, Ram Man, Fisto, Orko, along with all the evil warriors that appeared in the film. I'd be surprised if they deviate from that line up but MEF, Zodac, Stinkor, the Snakemen, Meteorbs, and Gygor would all be cool.

Mattel has infinite Barbie money forever, the He-Man movie is an investment in trying to revive their boy brand equivalent. It's a loss in terms of box office but it was successful with both critics and audience and has tons of positive press all around the internet, so as a very expensive advertising campaign it can be seen as a success. Keeping the brand in the public eye is a benefit if the Big Naked Gigachad Barbarian trend starts coming back around.

If the SECOND movie is also a big flop they will probably wind the push down.

>>
>>11826145
True, and that proves they have a vested interest in having a boy brand. But since they're merely a licensee for DC they also have an interest in maintaining a homegrown IP. Kind of like how Hasbro keeps Transformers and GI Joe going even though Disney fans probably make up 90% of their profits with the Legends and BLACKED lines.
>>
>>11826143
I pray they recognize and accept fan complaints of the first film as they undertake the creation of the sequel. This first movie is so painfully close to getting it. If by the grace of god the second movie can deliver on a generally competent action heroy He-man in addition to all the splendor of Eternia we'll make it. If not it's fucked.
>>
>>11825537
Neat
>>
>>11825965
Of course they are, the shitty film was just a giant toy commercial to sell merch and that's all they care about.
>>
>>11826145
Nah, they're just borrowing that and can lose it at any time. They want an in-house brand to throw around and He-Man is perfect for that.

I mean they do also have Hot Wheels, which also prints money. But that has different societal connotations and doesn't really have the same kind of "nerd following" a traditional Good v Evil story will bring in.

>>11826292
That's what really pissed me off the most about the film. It didn't have to be the best thing every created, it just had to be good and solid. But they actively went out of their way to undercut any kind of dramatic tension while also insulting itself and the franchise as a whole in the worst way possible.

The entire film felt like it was written by people who straight up dislike the franchise, which is kind of a kick to the teeth for people who genuinely DO like the franchise and all it's silliness.
>>
>>11825981
Capitalism always wins!
>>
>>11825503
Who's mustachio head did you use for this custom?
>>
>>11826337
>I mean they do also have Hot Wheels
They also own Matchbox which has been turned into a modern F&F/Hobbs&Shaw movie with John Cena coming to Apple soon. For some reason they were willing to offer Matchbox over Hot Wheels to test the movie audience.

For those that didn't read the article from the UK a couple of months ago, Barbie - for all the big box office hype numbers - translated into total shit for sales for Mattel. Mattel is certainly moving much more MOTU product right now in connection to the Amazon engine than Barbie was doing. So if a sequel is already being greenlit to at least start pre-production (script, retain cast, early budgeting and casting ideas) then I would say internally MOTU the Movie did well enough for early expectations and long term goals are likely still in-line with their vision.

>>11826337
>The entire film felt like it was written by people who straight up dislike the franchise
I disagree with this statement more than anything. I think it was carried by people who definitely loved the franchise and were trying to find a balance between hardcore fans (us), casuals (those who "remember" the idea of MOTU - also sometimes us), and those who mostly just know Robot Chicken or memes more than anything concrete (hi /co/).

If you ask me to name the most difficult thing of a GI Joe convention, it's that so many are hardcore to the point they know the comics, cartoons, and file cards inside and out. Those hardcore fans are to difficult to please and push everyone on the edge wanting to know more out too easily. In MOTU this was the .ORG forums. Anyone who remembers the Classics era knows how rough and hardcore .ORG got on the forums. With the fall of .ORG's forums you know have smaller hubs like /motu/ or /leddit/ or even /fb/ where it's more a mixture of people together.

<tbc>
>>
>>11826365
><tbc>
So when the movie is trying to do the memes people recall, hit the story beats and action people expect, and make it an accessible story to new people: Adam's journey from fish-out-of-water into the hero's journey, MAA's failed protector story and chance at redemption, Teela's... well Teela didn't get as much honestly so she was more a transition character in support of Adam and MAA's stories while her own journey was pretty reduced by comparison so I might have to think longer about her role after seeing the movie a couple of weeks ago. But the point is there's a lot to cover and this is a lot of good groundwork here trying to make fans happy and new people be interested. Given the constant praise I see the movie get I would say the studio did a good job trying to establish a solid enough base to build off of not unlike Iron Man which was made at a time with zero world building really in mind.

Hello!
>>
>>11826365
Yea no, there was no "attempt to find balance", most of the characters were played as completely unlikable assholes throughout the entire film. All the Masters were dicks the entire movie, Mossman was a sacrificial lamb who's death was played as a joke, the Sorceress was played off as some goofy chick in a bird costume, Randor died to a full on looney toons gag, and they were actively embarrassed about the names of all the characters including and especially the main freaking hero of the franchise. They made the same "Fisto fists people!" joke a dozen times and it wasn't funny the first time. The entire movie was filled with awful, bad cringey movie to the point where the least cringey character in the entire film was ironically Cringer.

And Jared Leto didn't even play Skeletor. He played the Joker cosplaying as Skeletor, right down to using the same awful laugh people hated from that awful harley movie.

the visual design departments put in lots of overtime to get this movie to look great, but every other aspect of the film just felt like they wanted nothing to do with the franchise at all. If the movie isn't going to care about it's own characters, how can you expect the audience to care?
>>
>>11825617
Because it's better
>>
>>11826337
>That's what really pissed me off the most about the film. It didn't have to be the best thing every created, it just had to be good and solid. But they actively went out of their way to undercut any kind of dramatic tension while also insulting itself and the franchise as a whole in the worst way possible.
>The entire film felt like it was written by people who straight up dislike the franchise
I can relate and my thoughts mirror much of your own, however I'm much more forgiving of the movie overall. Really the bulk of the film's problems are easily ignored if you ditch the millenial humor and stop making such an ass of Adam. There were so many points in the first half where I kept thinking "guys, just reel it in. this is too far". The movie desperately needed more ass-kicking He-man and less Don Knotts Adam. The Trapjaw fight specifically should have marked the turn of the tide but they kept going and that's when it starts feeling like a piss take. That doesnt turn around up until the Skeletor fight!
>>11826366
Agreed. Some anons disliked the Don Quixote angle with Adam but I thought it a brilliant take for the character in today's world, something people under 30 could really relate to, but again alot of that gets undercut by Adam being a buffoon. You had something great there but you just insisted on retarding He-man in his own film. The Thor movies, for as much as I dislike them and consider them awful adaptions of the Kirby source material, atleast began with a competent adaption of Thor before throwing everything they got right out the window in exchange for a bizarre golden retriever puppy-man take on the character. MOTU by contrast has done the exact opposite and I worry how that will pan out. At the very least the ending of the movie we got opens the door to cool shit. If they sideline He-man in the sequel to have She-ra show him up we're fucked.
>>
>>11826387
It's important to keep in mind Adam was teleported to Earth as a kid. The Heroic Warriors essentially endured 15 years of Skeletor's rule and so they've become jaded and cynnical. His return, for as much as they laugh and disrespect him, acts as a means to reignite the fire in their hearts. There's a charm to the idea of Adam serving as a Pollyanna-type given the stakes, but again it's betrayed but the unnecessary humor.

As for Mossman I dont buy his demise. For starters Skeleto needed somebody to make an example of, so it's best that Mossy (the one Master who's effectively immortal) got the short end of the stick than say Fisto or MAA. Even Roboto's death wasnt permanent, so there's no reason to believe Mossman's would be. The only death in the film that does feel believable was Randor's. That entire portion of the movie is frankly the best part because of it! To each his own though. Frankly the cast was far from this's movie's major issue. Everybody did a great job and I struggle to think of a single bad performance. Letotor was a 1 to 1 adaption of the 200X version with some Tim Curry sprinkled in, and he carries the movie hard as a result. I really dont see the comparison to suicide squad joker at all.

In closing I agree the fisto joke is fucking eyerollingly terrible and all the other gags in that vein were no better.

Anyone thought that the first part of the movie (all the way until time skip to adult Adam) was actually really good and if they kept that tone and balance, movie would be perfect?

>>11826052
I really hope we'll see more of Eternia and its people. Right now my biggest fear for the show that it will be just the main cast 5 heroes and 4 villains and little else

I think next character short is coming, page claims to have 3 videos with one hidden.

I, slighlty sad about those, I recall when leaks suggested next show is movie prequel with character shorts. Im fine with what we're getting (prequel show couldn't even use most of main charactersor get any real story progression) but short little adventures focusing on guys like Teela, Mekaneck, Stratos, etc would be awesome.

From my theater experience with the movie they could've added more cheese and corniness to the flick: Skeletor absolutely terrified some of the kids in the audience. The compromise I guess would be to remove some of the joke lines from the Masters and add more to Skeletor and crew. I am not a He-man fan but the impression I got from the movie is that Travis Knight got the 6 year old and 40+ year old audience appeal right, there were gratuitous deaths and references for the adult audience while keeping the movie kid friendly by not visually depicting Trapjaw getting turned into red paste which also allows the writers to reuse him for a sequel.

What I want to know is if they will make a H.R. Skeletor figurine, I want him with the coffee cup and some scaled lame motivational posters

>>
>>11827279
The public opinion of he-man for decades has been that it is gay and camp and bordering on self-parody just by existing, and that’s among even people who grew up with it. I don’t really know why anyone ever expected this movie to be anything but that. It was about as serious as we could hope for given the view people have of it.

Chronicles Movie Orko, has light up eyes
>>
>>11827284
there is a big difference between playing it straight, like Adam West's flavor of camp, and the characters acknowledging that their names are dumb. that is the critical difference between the two.
It's the audiences job to call Fisto's name dumb. Not the movie's. You can take camp at face value as a child and just enjoy it, or as an adult you can shit on it. For instance, you probably didn't think about how Skeletor's lack of ears and eyes don't make sense. And no one in the film points at Skeletor and goes "ermmm... what the heck, how is THIS guy able to do anything! Gawrsh!"
>>
>>11827268
This right here is my only gripe with the movie. First time Fisto joke was ok i get. Next two times I cringed. Also the shoving in locker bit. The He-Man name drop being a joke was so lame. It's like they want you to take the whole IP as a joke. We'll we have a sequel so they can at least fix it in the next movie. Make everyone accept their codenames as if they been using them for years. Calling out to He-Man without giggling like a school girl everytime. Getting a new director who isn't cuck for marvel quips would also be nice, like Peter Jackson.
>>
>>11827268
>Princes of the Universe song randomly interrupted by the characters coughing and gagging for no reason
You definitely didn't know Princes of the Universe if you didn't understand they placed it at the moment of silence before it kicks back in a more upbeat style from the more known ballad opening for Highlander.

I think this was the worst joke in the movie but it wasn't for no reason, Adam coughed out "how old is this place". They were coughing from the dust cloud from the wall they broke down. Awful joke, but there you go.

I got some new slime from Amazon to test later in the original Slime Pit I dug out. The wife gave me some keyboard cleaner blue slime from Target so I looked up a similar green version. The blue stuff left no sticky anything behind for clean up so hopefully green is as good.

It actually works pretty well for what we grabbed. MysticHome Super Clean. We shot a quick vid I'm going to try to webm. >>
>>11828432
Ehh. The bigger issue is people lining up like the first Captain Marvel or Wonder Woman movie with that stupid >>11828469 kind of mentality. When they raise money to send groups of girls endlessly to see the movie like it will be inspiring. We saw that with Black Panther as well where a humdrum film ripping off Thor which was ripping off Shakespeare was vaulted to the upper levels of praise for its "diverse" cast of minorities even though it was almost all one particular minority. Not to delve into that /pol/tv/ side of things, but it did get free bucks for it. It was funnier that both WW and Marvel sequels failed because there was no free handout of tickets the second time. Panther ride hard on Boseman having passed away, but still didn't break a billion the second time or have any demand for a sequel film.

The Aussie Supergirl actress just needs to learn to STFU just like the Snow White one. Sometimes when a microphone is in front of you don't say whatever comes to mind

I am running around hitting some stores that aren't near me, like GameStop and the few decent LCS in my metro area that also still carry collectibles and toys. There's also a mall nearby and I just had breakfast for lunch with an old co-worker I no longer really see, but he told me about this really old, crowded fire hazard hoarders toy store nearby, knows the owner from his Hot Wheels track race nights. And my co-worker can score a discount from the old dude who runs the place if we find anything.

Anyways, was going to treat co-worker and his kid to discount Tuesday matinee of MOTU at the nearby AMC, one of the largest in my county, and they aren't playing it until 10 pm. Only showing.

Instead it's hours of World Cup matches!

It's a fucking disaster my guy, stop comparing it to things that actually worked. It's more like the Lone Ranger reboot than Wakanda Forever or Last Jedi (b/c those movies made money).

I'm a bit surprised, I assumed the Classics castle was bigger than that although I guess they mostly just had to make sure the door was tall enough for the bigger figures.

I'm very slowly working on a Masterverse / New Eternia scale Grayskull that's a combo of scratch build and 3D printed base pieces but I haven't worked on it in a while. I really should get around to it though, I was super excited about it and then I got distracted by other projects. It's going to be over 2 feet tall when it's done.

I'm curious, how many other under-40 MOTU fans are in this thread? I got into MOTU when I was in college because an older friend who was an avid fan and collector introduced me to it, but before then I had very little if any connection to the IP. The only He-Man that I have any childhood memories of is Space He-Man and it kind of came and went, because I was more interested in GI Joe and Batman (so I can't say I have any particular nostalgia for that version). I turn 40 this year so I don't even feel comfortable being referred to as a "younger He-Man fan" even though I am too young to have been a first generation fan.

Remember that Classics is being shot from a low angle and the castles are arranged in a curve with Classics the furthest back. It's not beyond massive, but it's still a decent size bigger than Origins. Core in about the same height as Origins and Classics comes with an inner floor area giving you more space.

Sounds a lot like my experience with MASK. I got into it through reruns, and I knew there were toys and I wanted them, but I never saw them anywhere and I didn't realize the show and toy line had been canceled years ago.

With GI Joe I watched reruns of the Sunbow show religiously although the new episodes from DIC were still airing and the toys were still everywhere, and were for a couple of years.
>>
>>11830399
I was introduced to it through 200X. Tried collecting the line but couldn't find anyone but multitudes of He-Man and Skeletor variants. The only ones I have left from back then were the three Snakemen (Hiss, Rattlor, Khan) and Zodak, all in storage. Been a fan ever since, tuning in and out of MOTU updates while looking back into Filmation and others. Bought some of Classics but never fully committed to the line. Flashforward to recent years, and while Masterverse was neat, the recent 200X line is an absolute godsend for me and it's all I ever wanted.

It was funny to find out that both my dad and older brother used to be fans of the 80s cartoon which they sort of grew out of. Absolutely loved the new movie and happily bought He-man and Skeletor Chronicles so far.
>>
Original Dad Anon here. Also known as the Raz Spammer. I haven't been checking these threads because fuck Mattel not selling Movie Origins in leafland. Also Red Shadow on Club Payskull. Miss me with that shit. I'll sign up again for the Mighty Spectre.
Just want to say that my kids loved the movie, there were other youngsters there to. Mattel should have marketed this as a fun capeshit type thing not "finally learn how he became He-Man." I think the nostalgia angle hurt it more than letting it stand on it's own to be entertaining.
My only question about the movie was who the fuck was this Dion woman? Her whole character was that she was a bitch to Adam and spins while shooting. Lmao what was Sy-Klone busy?

Also it warms my heart to see all this autistic sperging ITT. I used to think the discord trannies and YouTube manchild mafia went after me, but I see it's just general unpleasantness all the time.

Nah dude it’s like choosing to look at shirtless at any other point in your free time. But as I’ve gotten other and become a father myself i am often shirtless and understand while boys with fathers didn’t have the same reaction I did.

Like most elder millenials I was exposed to He-Man primarily through gag edits on youtube and the occasional Robot Chicken skit. I finally watched through the Filmation show a few years ago while caring for a dying relative. Maybe it's a bit of self-infantilization but the good vibes and morals helped me a lot during that time and I look on the wacky world and its characters very fondly now.
>>
>>11830823
Maybe people just dont bring that up but I have yet to hear that kids din't like the movie once they saw it.

Movie was suppposed to be for general audiences as Revelation was meants fo be for OGs and CGI for new generation. Bur for what they actually they were targeted and who they appealed to was all over the place (Revelation being very woke, movie appealing to nostalgia etc)

Dian was a royal guard in one story in newpaper motu. Guess they just wanted to diversify cast with Glup Shitto.
>>
>>11831002
Honestly, other than some language and the fact that movie was fucking LOUD I have no complaints from a parental perspective.
If a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy can find an audience, there is no reason Motu couldn't. GoG was helped by being MCU connected but still. It was a decent movie that deserved to do better. I took my kids to see it a second time instead of Supergirl.
>t.gigachad christian father

As for Dian, what a weak character. If anything this was a missed opportunity to bring in Tiff Smith to star as Andra. I haven't seen her since that night at Zolocon.
>>
>>11831009
>obscure normie female soldier added to main cast.

>>
>>11831020
Undoubtedly. It's a shame because I don't think people Andra herself. I remember thinking she was the okayist part of Revelations. At least more likable than Teela was in that show.
The complaints were that she replaced a red head and that the series sucked as a whole. And maybe I am misremembering but Andra was the least complained about character on the main cast.
Andra - The Comic Book featuring Masters of the Universe was kinda weak and had terrible art. Maybe that was the straw that broke Mattel's back.

The movie did what it was meant to do.
Toy sells are through the roof and a sequel was green lit. This is a long term strategy. It will be on Amazon Prime and be a constant top 10 streamed movie. It’s a movie made for streaming. Theatrical release is an obligation not a gold standard anymore. Amazon and Mattel just positioned themselves to have a powerhouse IP.
>>
>>11831171
In leafland. For Sketchy Manny, you're either gonna have to wait and see if it goes to amazon potentially at a markup when they go to discount in US. Or ebay now/whenever.
Movie Spikor would have been the easiest to find at Walmart if things were still stocked. This stuff was plentiful like a week or two ago, but may have been picked through already. Its weird that it seems like you cant or couldnt find it honeslty, you must be rural. We got movie origins he-man, spikor. The CC 200x stuff. Origins trap jaw and all the other movie line stuff. Stores all over the goddam place got shippers or their shelves stocked back up but sadly I wouldnt be surprised if there was no restock but perhaps some more waves of origins if we're lucky.
>>
>>11831704
From the reviews I saw he's a solid figure with decent articulation. However I can't fathom why they didn't give him toe articulation when even basic toys like Jada do it, I find it more annoying with Skeletor since he's barefoot.
>>
>>11831908
>Theatrical release is an obligation not a gold standard anymore
You're right, and I'm reminded of that very weird episode of re:view covering the garbage pail kids where Mike explained to jay that "the movie" used to be the zenith of an IP's culture relevancy. The last time that was true was the first pokemon movie, and that was nearly 30 years ago.

Just finished rewatching the 1987 film btw. It has some high points but the two teen characters do sort of drag the movie down a little. All the actual MOTU stuff in the movie's still great anyhow. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Dolph-Man, he brings a Chris Reeve Superman energy to the role. Has anyone noticed how close the movie grunts are to established evil warriors? Beastman aside Blade and Saurod just bring to mind Triklops and Whiplash. Karg on the other hand comes across like a donutsteel patchwork of everyone from Trapjaw to Grizzlor.

The blue thing resembles a towel which occasionally get used to wrap heavy barbells when squating as some people would find a nearly 600 lb bar resting on their back uncomfortable (540 lb in plates plus a 45 lb bar) though the scale of the bar looks wrong as they appear to be too thick to be a typical 45 lb plate probably 45 lb bumper plates as they are more popular than plates over 45. I have no clue if it is anything more then a toy prop though I doubt it is a child's wristband given that this looks collector oriented.

They're independent, neither will make a difference to each other. The only thing this might do is potentially make them apprehensive about She-Ra, but even then I doubt it.
>>
>>11833034
There was a posted product description blurb, and it sounds like it's a towel to wipe down equipment. Given the size, I assume it's for real world use rather than for the figure? It also is pretty small though, so maybe a full size towel for the figure? One thing that would have been a good inclusion is a weight bench, but there are cheap replicas available online that will work well. Assuming he can get into a seated position without stressing the shorts, that would be fun. May just have to get this guy a full mini squat rack and what not, he's going to be a fun item to have in my basement gym.

The Nike hybrid logo was fun, but it wouldn't make sense to pay royalties on a toy, so I'm fine with it being this ram head logo instead.

Assuming we got all 3 variants, I would probably just stick with the gym one, maybe the suited one (would be kind of funny on my work desk). I don't think I'll need all of them though.

>>
>>11833281
Adora did grow up with the Horde while this Adam grew up on Earth, would be a pretty funny dichotomy of bad bitch Adora and overly nice guy Adam. I get that there's no identity to preserve, but hopefully the He-Man persona becomes more defined from Adam, and She-Ra can likewise be significantly different from Adora (assuming we get more in this world, of course).

CG work isn't done early like the old days of even WETA with LotR or Lucasfilm for SW. They split it off to half a dozen or more studios for who was cheapest and change designs constantly. If you ever listen to the commentary tracks the producers will mention the CG work comes in near the very end for the finalized cut after changing it constantly. Agents of SHIELD was famous for having less than 2 weeks to develop, animate, and deliver any CG work for air. More than a few times arriving a day or two before the episode airs.

The point is that the DESIGN was likely constantly changing in projects like this movie. Remember that the end credits Orko silhouette which is simple artwork was more old school Orko design than the actual CG version shown for 30 seconds. Hasbro has started repeatedly that they have issues delivering screen accurate Marvel designs for the movies because they get early concept artwork and rarely the final version in time before they start working on going into toy production. If you want a screen accurate Orko then this is how it was going to be. Notice that Roboto as a toy is slightly different from the movie version and that's a character that was on-screen for a decent amount of time because at some point the design changed from what Mattel was given to the final screen version.

Do people mix and match different sets and themes? I'd love a Castle Grayskull for my 200x figures and some vehicles, should I just get the movie stuff for now and wait to see if the cartoon line gets their own?

I dont know if its like this in murica but now shipping still has a seperare shipping fee for each item even from the same seller. And your shipping prices arent the same as ours. New stuff in. Frazetta Girls' Conan, Spectral Undead Guardian Skeleton, and 200X Roboto are here. Conan is cool. Limited movement as he's totally retro. Peg hands, balljoint head, forward/backward swing shoulders, balljoint hips, and peg feet. Nice sculpting. Boss Fight Studios' Undead GITD Blue Skeleton was a WM exclusive. Everything is fine except the hip bar with balljoint ends are too tight even with heat. Modern articulation but no waist turning at all. The Subternia 4-Pack skeleton is a bit better in comparison. 200X Roboto is chunky! Hips are tight. Rest was fine.

Alright I've been thinking
Do you think the reason why the early 2010's MotU comics didn't last as long as contemporary lines was due to DC being the publisher?
Nothing on the books actual quality but rather that DC has higher expectations for sales compared to other publishers and unlike other publishers want to focus their best resources on the IP they actually own/made

DC's had a poor history od handling licensed comics, so it wouldnt surprise me if that was the case. My question now becomes what publisjer would have been better suited to the task? My gut tells me Dynamite.

Can the new Frazetta Icons and Immortal Champions partswap with MotU origins somehow? Even just the armour and heads?
>>
>>11839352
Immortals Skeleton head would likely need to heat up a little to fit the bigger Origins ball but it is just a smaller normal balljoint underneath on the Champions body. It should transfer over. The helmet is so big it can fit on the Dolph movie head with that epic hair from Ramen Toy without even heating it up. So any Immortal armor/gear not sculpted on should be able to transfer to Origins.

Frazetta Icons heads are a balljoint like Origins. The weapons/armor can transfer over with Conan and Carter. They're slipped over a default muscle body. So that wrist guard can come off. The figure pulls apart with a little heat very easily to take off the arms at the shoulders or the hands or even the legs. The boots are two pieces: The top and sides of the boot are slipped over the bare leg. The foot itself is a peg joint. Not sure any of that will be handy on Origins. Didn't get Death Dealer yet to know if they gave him a new torso or armor over the muscle body. The fur belt on Conan is sculpted as part of the fur trunks.

It's too much gold, and looks like piss yellow. A darker gold and if they had kept the original boot design, it would have looked better. Don't know why they decided to make new boots when they already had the sculpt from the mutated Ram Man figure.

Speaking of collabs, what 80s IP other than TMNT you think Mattel is going to use for 2027 collab? Not many other major ones to pick from. Maybe finally do Bravestarr? It'd be limited to Marshall, 30-30, Judge, and Tex Hex.
>>
>>11840558
GI Joe is the last 80's tentpole they havent covered yet so I'm a little bullish on it. However they have DC, TMNT, Dino Riders, and Street Sharks to consider now. Not to mention the laundry list of deep cut IP like Bravestarr, Blackstar, Thundarr, or even Conan. Thundercats really did a good job of focusing on the big names so you could do the same with Thundarr and the rest without losing much.

Maybe? My expectation is to see it dumped without any fanfare straight to streaming out of the blue like the LOTR and Netflix Avatar shows did.

Transparent Skeletor's up on amazon canada now
>>
>>11840647
Definitely grabbing this one. Will be my first Core figure. Anyone know how the size of the staff heads compare between Core and Chronicles? Would be nice if the effect would be usable. Beyond that, absolutely can't go wrong with a translucent Skeletor.

As long as all the major/supporting characters are turned into Origins it's all good to me even without a real movie Grayskull playset. Need Fisto and Daina (sp?) to happen. Maybe a movie Eternos Guard from the opening minutes.

I really hope turtles and dc get made in this core style and mighty masters style.

You guys think it would be overboard to buy a greyskull just for my mighty masters? The scale looks great to me.

>>11840909
Why do you not already have one as a MOTU collector?
>>
>>11840917
Because I just started collecting motu this year. My first motu toys was a 200x man at arms from McDonald’s when I was a kid. I went back and rewatched the show after I found out they were doing a new movie. I’m all in on core and mighty masters. Not a fan of origins or chronicles.
>>
>>11840909
Honestly you’d be better off getting the battle for eternia 2 in 1 instead which you’ve inspired me to do just for mighty masters.

TMNT and DC for sure. Would like to see GI Joe or any of the barbarian cartoons or just weird stuff like how the Stranger Things villains turned out without the MOTU required member. Demo and the Hellfire Club demon were good figures.

Kek. Man I wish both these variants had gotten better names. Even Baja Blast is higher effort than "translucent skeletor".
>>
>>11841112
That's why I keep banging the drum for Thundarr. They already have a working relationship with Warner, it'd be a waste not to realize it. Gi Joe and DC are cool in anycase. I'd still like Fuerza T but I know they'll never bite.
>>
>>11841112
>Hellfire Club demon
Forgot about AD&D. Would love for Hasbro to let them make Warduke Origins. There's a lot of figures from the LJN line they can pull from.

Obtained He-Man the Barbarian Core War Paint edition at Target along with Heel mode John Cena. Didn't see much difference with MAA from the 4-pack version.

At a glance it's not too bad but the longer you look it more obvious the mismatch is. Good use of the power slash shield btw.

Does anyone here own either the bossfight H.A.C.K.S epic or hero Red Sonja? Does one of them fit in with the Origins line height wise?
I'm confused because I thought that epic just meant more bonus stuff (extra heads etc) but now I found out it's also 1/12 while hero is 1/18. But shops have the hero sonja listed as 10-15cm while the epic one is just listed as 1/12. To make it worse epic Conan is listed as 8-10cm. I ask here because It's about which will fit better with my origins because I use them for my fantasy display.
>>
>>11841982
There's a whole line called Immortal Champions which Boss Fight is making to go with the 5 point 5 sized figures like Origins.

So I missed Blast Attak on MC. But there hasn't been a lot of chatter about him on here...I just want a version of him for nostalgia sake. Is the Orgins a huge upgrade or would I be happy with a vintage?
>>
>>11842316
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMRGxr9bZLY
Gimmick works exactly the same, there are no extra accessories, they look alike thought Origins might be a brighter and shinier and maybe a tiny bit have a dopier face. Vintage has a stronger spring so explodes better.Origins has a cable going over from upper arm to lower, not sure if that's cool or if it risks getting damaged. Since gimmick is retained, Origins has not waist articulation.
>>
>>11842381
Thank you. I took a break from Origins after Red Shadow broke my spirits and I'm getting caught up.

How does 200x Prince Adam scale with Origins He-Man? It would be perfect to have a twink Adam that really seems smaller than He-Man.
