Why are the minifigures in the Mayor Manor a weird sickly glow in the dark green color? Are these supposed to be flesh or yellow equivalents? I also don't understand the arguments over whether this is "better" or not than the 3-in-1 haunted mansion since they are completely different concepts from different themes.
>>
>>11846688
Because they glow in the dark retard.
>completely different concepts from different themes

>>
>>11846688
Faggots gotta justify their displayslop glorified fascade that's $30 dollars more expensive than the glorified fascade that's intention is to be rebuilt into numerous things. Also the minifigs in the 3 in 1 are just better.
>>
>>11846705
Plus a majority of that facade is 1x1 tiles or 2 dozen studs for the windows (while cool) just inflate the parts count so fags who think price per piece means anything will be happy to pay $30 more for less minifigs that are worse. Plus that tree takes up probably a good 20 percent of the set and makes it impossible to mod or moc.
But hey at least you get several dozen of these “bricks”. It just too bad they don’t make an actual masonry style brick… oh wait…

I'm sure you can notice there's more grey trim on the shield on the left, they can't center their printing worth shit apparently. I just replaced Dedra's legs, so I hope they approve me again.

Progress has been made. Gotta finish up the engine room and the hull over it, then work on the rest of the outer hull.
(The black bit in front of the engines, besides being my best effort to use the 8 technic scaffold pieces between the two sets, will also double as a docking area to connect with Citytron airlock pieces/sections.)

>Why are the minifigures in the Mayor Manor a weird sickly glow in the dark green color?
it's been stated that this will be a recurring "theme" that they plan on adding to each year, similar to the Xmas Winter Village type sets

keeping that in mind, they needed a generic yellow figure color so they can high-road the muh-diversity factor and avoid it. somebody must have suggested glow-in-the-dark and everybody in the meeting agreed it was better than yellow for this series

I got a couple of those on clearance 1/2 price at Target. this might be the only set where you get hat-with-hair and just-hat, and it doesn't look all bad. Indy hat-hair crushes the previous Indy Minifigs. this was opposite-Luffy where I thought they needed to include regular hair and regular hat, so you could have the bit where the hat flies off and Indy picks it up

the Marvel Cinematic Universe (also known as the MCU movie series) has that sort of cultural-sensitivity trouble with introducing the X-Men, almost to the point where they really CAN'T do it!

X-"MEN"? what about the X-Women? or X-LGBTQAlphabet? you can't even use the word X-Men. okay sure the comics had a like X-Factor or something, but it's lame they can't use "X-Men"

and we are quite far away from WW2, what do they even use as Magneto backstory? was he in an abusive Summer Camp as a child? 'cause he'd be pretty old now if he was in that other type of camp

cartoons don't count

a goofy cartoon is far different than a theatrical release in theater, hopeful of billion-dollar-revenue type numbers. nobody pays attention to cartoons. DC has apparently many epic, high quality Justice League cartoon movies that shame any live-action offerings, but nobody has seen them because they are cartoons

Netflix made a live-action One Piece = Lego sets. 1000 episodes of a cartoon = no Lego sets (sorry but anime = cartoon)

(okay Lego DID Make an X-Men '97 set... but my points are still valid for the MCU in current-year)

Well seeing as Adam Driver might be Magneto and the movie is about dimensional jumping, they're gonna say the X-Men are from a 90s world. Which would make sense because it's stupid that mutants are one thing but super heroes are another in Marvel. Like if you're born with super powers you're a mutant but if you gain super powers through a freak accident you're a super hero. It never made sense and it's the perfect reason why marvel should have never combined the IPs and it's why X-Men rarely showed up against the FF or Avengers or Spiderman.

How do you go about making MOCs? I'm currently in a situation where I can't build because I lack space. I think a huge aspect of building MOCs comes down to part knowledge. Sure I can dig through Studio and try to come up with something, but nothing beats having all kinds of pieces at hand. So I guess the more sets you build the more part knowledge one gets.

Something I’m still not sure about is whether it’s worth watching videos of MOCs by other builders. I always get really excited when I see something that appeals to me, but then I find myself wondering, "How did he do that?" and afterwards I feel this sense of emptiness because I probably wouldn't be able to pull it off myself.

I also lack space but I have a dedicated moc shelf I rotate my builds out when I'm fed up of looking at them. Building sets can help learning techniques, a lot of it comes down to what you have already but I always end up having to order something from Bricklink whenever working on a new moc. Watching moc videos can be disheartening at first, but you can learn good techniques from them as well. I also have a separate Instagram just for lego and that is a pretty good place to find short form quick moc techniques, or find out about parts you didn't know existed. New Elementary is a good blog for keeping you up to date with what new weird parts lego is putting out, and they also public articles when those new parts are available to order on lego's Pick a Brick service.

My best advice to you would be to just try building something small with what you've got. Limit yourself to 16x16, pick a classic theme or something you already have specialised pieces and minifigs for, try to think of a little scene and just go for it. Then post whatever you end up making here.Hope all that helps!
picrel, something I built sticking to a 32x32 baseplate.

>>
>>11847251
You ainte gonna make mocs unless you start playing with your bricks. Building sets from instructions also helps you learn techniques. Studio is great for prototypes that you can then assemble with real bricks. Its important to keep your bricks organized so you can find what you need for your moc. Start small. Draw an idea on paper and try to create it.

I agree
it was shocking to see a character named "Brick Daddy" dressed as a pimp, but we could have also gotten a flashy-dressed girl character to go with him.

if the mentality was that kids would not "get it" (he's not a pimp, just a villain mobster) then they would not "get" the girl-alien as anything other than a mobster, either

Vidiyo has such a character, and I think one of the CMF alien babes might have counted but I forget which one I was thinking about

it is surprising that with all of the other [insert correct word for DIVERSITY] represented among the Minifigures and Minidolls, that the one which is most visual (in 'Merica, at least) is NOT represented in Lego

I bet there are even test-bodies with [insert correct word for FAT] bellies, and all of the designers and executives cringed at.

thanks for the free advise, says the Lego execs. I expect a full set if any of these get made. it's the least Lego can do to compensate me for these free ideas:

easy mode:
Castle Theme - sort of like the D&D one but with y'know, yellow figures. Knights, rogue (smirking girlboss), wizards, sorceress (another smirking girlboss), peasants. 12 characters easy-peasy

medium mode:
History Theme - using "history" gives Lego "an excuse" to do things like Egypt, Samurai, African Tribe guy, Greek toga babe (smirking girlboss) maybe they use flesh tones for this one (?) harder to pick a good spread of characters for balance reasons

hard mode:
80's-90's Nostalgia celebrities - similar to the Marvel TV series thing, this would grab a couple people from a thing, and a couple from something else. like Baywatch Hasslehoff and Pam Anderson, Cheers, The Nanny (smirking girlboss!), Jay Leno, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (smirking girlboss) etc. picking the list of characters for this one would be difficult given the vast or sensitive options

Re-asking here, does anyone have this piece? I am wondering if anyone has variants similar to the top two images and if they are authentic. I got them from a bricklink order. They have a number, but no Lego logo or part number on them, and there seems to be plastic flashing bits in the pin hole and cuts. I don't see any visible injection point either. The pin holes have no consistency, like the one in the top left, where the bottom hole curve is completely round, while the top has the 2 corner bits.

The bottom-most image is what I got from New Elementary when this piece first came out, showing it had the Lego logo and part number embossed, with the injection point being the middle of the pin.

I mean its pretty obvious that Lego doesn't care about kids so why seperate builds to make playsets that they could afford and play with? It makes more sense to just shove everything together because retards will still fucking buy this shit. I swear most lego buyers are peak retarded when it comes to responsibly purchasing their hobby.
>inb4 poorfag
I'm not but even if I was why the fuck would you gloat about wasting your disposable income?
>>
>>11848988
(sarcasm mode):

obviously so you'd buy them ALL instead of only the one you want.

Lego was even nice enough to put them all in the same package, and not make you hunt down all the individual sets. isn't that such a hassle? you'd want a set and whoa! where is it? I'm looking for that one set... how do I complete my Spongebob set?

and now you don't wind up with 4 Spongebobs since they'd need to put him in several sets. one is enough. now you don't have extra characters! good for you, right?!

putting them all together saves the planet! less boxes. less factory carbon footprint making individual sets. you want to save the planet, not your money.

that flex! that drip! - it's an opportunity to show off. when your visitors see this displayed, they KNOW it cost a ton, and you have the type of money to drop on the ultimate silly thing. it FITS the theme of the show! the show has a snarky crazy tone, so you need to match that with a hilarious over-spending display. and your visitors will "get that message" seeing this expensive toy!

Random question. Does anyone know why people who MOC these huge elevations don't just use Duplo? They are compatible with Lego bricks. They are stable. They are strong. They tend to be cheaper too. So why not just build interior infrastructure with Duplo and then convert to lego for the externals?
>>
>>11849114
Just use what you have in bulk and don't need.
>>
>>11849114
I always check garage sales for duplo bricks. Parents usually sell the $30 buckets for $1.

like the other guy said, you just use whatcha got. ain't nobody bought any duplo (but if they did, they'd use it for sure)

when Lego does these giant sculptures for their parks, they are built around empty wooden frames. so it's "legal" to do that, and
skip the Duplo all together. just glue some baseplates to the side of a box. I've even seen them do that on the Lego Masters TV show

Anons, I highly recommend to you all the pinball machine! Finished building it last night, and I've scored 3 ramp "goals" this morning. I was more excited for the Sea Serpent GWP at first but holy shit this thing is fun. 10/10 set, it's a bit pricey so maybe wait for a discount? Either way I feel I'm getting my money's worth from this set.

my local The Lego Store had one out (minus the blue figures to avoid pinch-policing) to mess with, the mechanics of it were tight. the flippers and launcher were bouncy and the screw-mechanism to move the guy towards the baby was amazing. one of the spinners got stuck and it was nearly impossible to get the ball up the ramp. maybe they could have made it easier?

I suggest mod'ing it to have a space babe as the goal. I know why they wanted to do new-color space baby, but did Lego realize that a lost baby is like, the most traumatic thing for a parent?
>>
>the thing but Lego and twice as much as and not nearly as fun as a functional tabletop pinball machine
>but wait if you act now you can get the thing but Lego Pac-Man… again twice the price as a functional Pac-Man but a LEGO version of a 45 year old game.
>>
I hope the next SpongeBob set has the Rev up those fryers guy in it.
>>
>>11849114
They probably do when they have Duplo. But why bother buying Duplo for this when you can just stack 2x2 bricks in a colour you never use and put a plate on top?

I can imagine how that shit works. Lego has to be convince some guy on a board of education that it would be great to waste public funds on eDuCaTiOnAl material that combines cReAtIvItY with STEM. and bam, Lego sells a couple overpriced parts packs
>>
>>11849282
>overpriced parts packs
Well yeah, obviously nobody here is even going to touch the instructions that come with it
>>
>>11849191
Yeah regarding the ball getting stuck on the spinners, I just mash the flippers to shake the machine and it gets dislodged. I've also had the space man jam a few times, but resetting it forward and then back fixes it. Still a perfect set imo :) Been playing it tons today

Lego constantly tries to sell sets which are basically screaming at customers to make their own stuff. they are usually not worth it unless there's some cool unique parts

those space ones are kinda neat but not neat-enough for me. this would have been a perfect opportunity for Lego to put dat one hair piece in a unique color (which hair piece? the one you wanted... and you know, dat anime space color) and a cool torso print, to tempt the purchase.

the dome cockpits are nice, and at least they used DARK blue/pink instead of LIGHT blue/pink
>>
>>11849282
It's insane what the markup is on Legos sold to schools.
>>
>>11849282
>>11849309
You guys have no idea how much money Schools waste on average on stupid shit. Having worked in schools I can all but guarantee that schools could run on a fraction of the budget given to them if the administrators and school board members weren't raging retards. Those legos would absolutely get bought up by some dumbass principle with little thought as to bow they'd actually be applied in an educational sense.

Funny, got a few of the yellow wheel rims in the middle of your pic and generally like picking those up, got 4 of the lime claw things plus a bunch of other stuff, just have to figure out a good way to dry 500ish bricks, or rewash all them at once before doing so

nothing to do on weekend. so i reassembled MT-10 i bought months ago

>also stop mention that fucking chink crane. i alredy trashed it. it was obviously designer's fault that actuator didn't work. also unimog, i assembled it perfectly. but drive train resistance is very well known issue in technic community
i am not retarded other technic works really well
