It's been a long dayWithout you, my friendAnd I'll tell you all about it when I see you againWe've come a long wayFrom where we beganOh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you againWhen I see you again
I tried sorting my light grey bricks into old grey and bluish grey piles, but I can’t tell if I actually managed that or if I just ended up sorting by amount of yellowing. Should I even bother separating the light greys?
Watching LEGO City builders on Youtube is so infuriating. All they do is to put modular buildings side by side, slap a road in front of it and call it a day. I mean fine, but thats like 1% of what you can do with a City. Most of the time when I see a set, it serves as inspiration for what else to build next and coming up with more and more ideas along the way. Picrel is from the LEGO House and a positive example on how to do City builds.
>>11850190https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVbEerGjUpU closest I have seen for “creativity” that I can remember is some guy building shit outta marsk blue and having to figure out how to do so without bankrupting himself, also thats a fuckass long car
>>11850190That's a pretty neat city but it still feels soulless because it's lacking zaniness (think of the town levels in Katamari games where there's wacky shit going on everywhere you look). If you're not going to do silly shit with minifigs you might as well just omit them from the build entirely.
>>11850065Tahant
>>11850189Like what color is the middle piece here? Old grey or bley?
>>11850195That was a fun watch. I tink being limited adds to the creativity. The exposed studs gives it a nice touch. Might sub to his channel.
>>11850209That piece didn't exist until they switched over, so dark blay.I'd say that's honestly the easier metric, any post-2003 piece can go right in the bley box.
>>11850228But it’s light grey, and it says 2002 right on it. I guess the date is helpful though, thanks.
>>11850265The piece may have been designed in 2002, but it wasn't first (barely) used until 2004 and only saw widespread use starting in 2005.I mean I guess if you're a zoomoid who doesn't remember the switchover tough luck, but you should be able to look at a piece and at least have a rough impression of what side of grey it debuted on.
>>11850265>>11850273I should also say that, in the worst case scenario, just BL the piece and see if it actually came in old grey/dark gray.
>>11850189I recently had the same problem with light gray and light bluish gray, especially for axles and bushings, it's really hard to tell if it's just light bluish gray that has been yellowed, or old gray
First lego set I've bought since... at least 20 years at this point. This seems like a nice one to get to be like, a counterpart to the Da Vinci flying machine my mom got me as a present.
Got that last bag finished up, her are the highlights. That style of cherrypicker is completely new to me, and that signpost is a first for my collection. Interested if anyone has info on that red brick with the understuds on the side.Any bonkle fans happen to know if that silver claw is actually Lego? I see no stamps and the nub isn't sized for standard bricks, but I know Bionicle had some odd pieces.
>>11850371>Interested if anyone has info on that red brick with the understuds on the side.Came in some old space sets. Specifically, M-tron for that color.
>>11850374>Came in some old space sets. Specifically, M-tron for that color.Yeah, I have a LOT of those from 1990s Space sets. Most of mine are light gray. I also have a bunch of the counterparts where the sides are covered in studs (mostly in black).
>>11850307It did, one of them was much more yellow than others so that went in the old grey pile and the others in the blue grey pile. I guess the worst case is I have to check how much it contrasts with other pieces whenever I build something
>>11850426>>11850385Be ready to eye strain a lot while sorting gray shades>>11850371I mostly had a ton of bulk like 500 to 1000 bricks 99% being regular
Tired of the raid
>>11850371>silver clawDoesn't look familiar to me. It's definitely not Bionicle-related, but I can't rule out it being HF or nigfago or something.
>>11850371>>11850483Silver claw’s connection is too rounded, not lego
>>11850374Thanks for the info! I've seen them in blue and yellow for space and aquanauts, but couldn't place which line would have red ones.>>11850483>>11850503Can confirm, found what it went to in the next bag and it definitely isn't Lego
>>11850519Speaking of which, here's the bag I'm sorting tonight. Judging from the detritus and amount of small parts, this one came from the bottom of the tote.
>>11850525What do you do with the stickers on pieces
>>11850209>>11850265Keep in mind that bleys can yellow with age/sunlight which makes them look a bit more like the old greys

These spammers have gone too far. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! Also, those models probably cost less to make or purchase than the $400 lego enterprise.

>>11850668since I was a child I dreamed of official Star Trek Lego. it's finally real, and I cannot afford it. my soul hurts. I want it so much, yet I cannot internally justify the high cost. what odd torture. surely I can spend my hard-earned money on something like this. but... it's so much money! how can I claim to be a fan, and not make this sacrifice? do I insult myself by not purchasing it? am I not the fan I thought I was? tears as I doubt myself. resentment for this Lego thing I also love, who now torment me so. and more internal shame as I realize it's just a toy, and I'm a grown man, and have such silly sad feelings over it. much like those TV shows which flaunt giant mansions and yachts, it's simply not for me. be happy it exists, and other people enjoy them.

>>11850721>MOC it manextreme irony is... I did.cobbling together budget-crew was the most fun I had with my Lego in a long time. I no longer care so much about autistic accuracy. I've said here before my bit about how Lego constantly re-makes the X-Wing, and each time Lego does it, it makes your own X-Wing more and more valid, it doesn't NEED to be muh-official-Lego-version.it's LEGO you can use your imagination, surprise, the solution was there all along
>>11850190One thing I dont like about many city builders is that they make cars and road lanes only 6 studs wide. I dont CARE what kind of math you use, normal cars should fit TWO people side by side so so should lego cars. thats why you should use 8, but preferably 7, stud wide cars. That's my ted talk.

>>11850941Who even cares about star trek anymore? Those who watched TOS are long gone...
>>11850959I wish. Space Police III was one of the best themes they've ever made, it's proof that space can coexist alongside licenseslop, but here we are. At least Cityspace was fun if short lived.>>11850960I just watched TOS with my boomer dad last year, now we're on TNG. TOS rules.

I'm not spending $150 on 3 Minifigs (I want Zelda sets, too, and have not gotten any) and $150 would still make me feel immense guilt and regret for the privilege of th-thanking Lego for offering me the chance to give them a lot of money. it would still feel like a virtual mugging.maybe Lego will eventually make a $50 Trek set with a couple of figures? (everybody in the room laughs hysterically. n-no, I was serious. they laugh harder)
>>11851054I'm sure the set will be $150 at discounts and it has 8 minifigs... I dunno what you talk about 3 minifigs man. Just wait for discounts like any sane person.
>>11850572>>11850573>>11850576>>11850577Is it just me or lego star wars is back in 2027? Legit peak wave
>>11851054Have you tried... not being poor?
>>11851054Lego doesn't really cater any of these Icon sets to casual or moderate fans anymore. The entry point on all this shit is probably an average of about $300 at this point, so they are catering to the AFOLs who have an entire basement of floor to ceiling shelves of display sets, and then the rest of the basement is their "Lego city" that they have probably spent tens of thousands of dollars on, so another $300, $400, $500 set is a drop in the bucket. Most of the time they could release these GWPs as little sets on their own as $20-$30 sets, but they either set like $200 thresholds, or require you to buy a $500 set during the first week it is available, or you're buying like a 200 piece set with 2 minifigures for $150 on eBay.They should put out at least one or two small sets when they get a big new license. They obviously aren't going to do a full theme for every IP they get their hands on, but a couple small sets in a smaller price bracket would be nice.
>>11851058>I dunno what you talk about 3 minifigs man.I wasn't saying Trek, more general Thing-I-Wanted like, the Zelda sets where Lego thinks 3 Minifigs is enough for $150.if I'm setting my spend-limit at $150, the set still has to hit value-limits, too. Sure some Things might require less Minifigs. Like, and A-Team set needs only 5 Minifigs (please toss in the girl character, Lego! and maybe a couple of generic villain henchman? but the 5 for sure. maybe even the Spanish guy they had in the later episodes, too)I've never done "discounts" on Lego outside of Target/Walmart clearance luck. for Trek I might try and figure it out. what do I check Amazon constantly or something? I'm being snarky, I'll ask Google what to do...
>>11850941Star Trek will probably get more sets under Icons. Maybe it will evolve into a separate theme since LotR is rumoured to branch out of Icons fall 2027 when they do the new movie sets. Simpsons is also rumoured to branch out. We also got Spongebob now too. We might see a midi scale starship collection for star trek in the near future, maybe minifigure packs too. Hell, include minifigs with the ships to separate it from star wars.
>>11851068>the Zelda sets where Lego thinks 3 Minifigs is enough for $150.That sets $130. And it is also widely available now, at places like Target and Walmart so it is only a matter of time before one or the other puts it on sale or clearance, or there is some other way to get it for cheaper.

>>11851011>too tameDo you just mean in terms of design language? Because as far as its content it was probably at least as sci-fi as Futuron or Classic Space. Not everything can be UFO, after all.

>>11851221>at least as sci-fi as Futuron or Classic SpaceNot that anon but City Space looks like scifi space that is happening in modern day (it literally is hence being in City) and Classic Space feels like space that was happening in the far distant retro futuristic...well future where people lived in space and colonized planets.Nasapunk I think people call City Space stuff?

I feel like my collection is incomplete without the spaceship and launch pad (bag 16 I think?), although neither are actually anything all that special, but obviously I'm not forking over 210 bones for it even if I did want the rest of it.
>>11851349It's probably bricklinkable right? Generic parts plus a sticker sheet?
>>11850752Finally, someone understands. I cannot deny the sovlful look of 4 stud wide cars from the late 90s but personally for my own builds I won't accept cars that don't accommodate 2 figs side by side. The absolute minimum for a baseplate is 6 but then the sides will protrude slightly to make space for minifig arms. Add side mirrors and you have a total width of 8.
>>118514026 wide is kino but you’re right the mirrors do make it 8.This Harry Potter crap is decent with the way they did the doors.

>>11851406The problem with the doors is that they are often too tall or too short desu. Actually your example HP set is preferable in terms of size compared to the gigantic sneedchampions sets.
Did some mods to my sea serpent. Feel free to copy any ideas you like (the dragon is from the chocolatier CMF)!
