lego prices give me the pression
Uhhh here’s the stuff I washed, they’re dry now, I think I need to open the two technic boxes and fuck around until I get something made
How does this video make /lg/ feel?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIg1vmdZxEo
My aunt found my cousins old Lego lot and she gave me this box of “figures” as she called itI’ve managed to complete 23 figs (including 2 $100+ Jays) with plenty more on the way
Thoughts on /dbs/ joining these threads soon?

Why are the minifigures in the Mayor Manor a weird sickly glow in the dark green color? Are these supposed to be flesh or yellow equivalents? I also don't understand the arguments over whether this is "better" or not than the 3-in-1 haunted mansion since they are completely different concepts from different themes.
>>11846688Because they glow in the dark retard.>completely different concepts from different themesKek.
>>11846688Faggots gotta justify their displayslop glorified fascade that's $30 dollars more expensive than the glorified fascade that's intention is to be rebuilt into numerous things. Also the minifigs in the 3 in 1 are just better.
>>11846705Plus a majority of that facade is 1x1 tiles or 2 dozen studs for the windows (while cool) just inflate the parts count so fags who think price per piece means anything will be happy to pay $30 more for less minifigs that are worse. Plus that tree takes up probably a good 20 percent of the set and makes it impossible to mod or moc.But hey at least you get several dozen of these “bricks”. It just too bad they don’t make an actual masonry style brick… oh wait…
>>11846671Nobody likes you pedophile.
>>11846708I hate that stupid piece so much
My Sea Serpent came in today, I was and am still excited. However I'd not looking forward to contacting lego customer service over my shield misprints (both were misprinted but this is the worst). I'm sure you can notice there's more grey trim on the shield on the left, they can't center their printing worth shit apparently. I just replaced Dedra's legs, so I hope they approve me again.
>>11846671Return of the king
Progress has been made. Gotta finish up the engine room and the hull over it, then work on the rest of the outer hull.(The black bit in front of the engines, besides being my best effort to use the 8 technic scaffold pieces between the two sets, will also double as a docking area to connect with Citytron airlock pieces/sections.)

>>11846688>Why are the minifigures in the Mayor Manor a weird sickly glow in the dark green color?it's been stated that this will be a recurring "theme" that they plan on adding to each year, similar to the Xmas Winter Village type setskeeping that in mind, they needed a generic yellow figure color so they can high-road the muh-diversity factor and avoid it. somebody must have suggested glow-in-the-dark and everybody in the meeting agreed it was better than yellow for this series
>>11846705the ghost figures are alright, I just like glow in the dark elements. the cat turns my head more than the figures. I hope later renditions of that theme bring back zombies.

View of the cabin.
FTL drive on the spine there. Also obviously the two airlock pieces aren't from either set but I bought a bunch of spares a while back for just such an occasion
Cozy little cabin. And by cozy I mean hydroponics is taking up half of it, the kitchen another quarter, and the crew gets to take turns sleeping on the one single bed stuffed behind auxiliary control.
>>11846864The design or the paint job? I might hack together a design on the computer before painting a new one, but the characters usually look pretty ugly without a nose and squished into a Lego head.
>>11846898NTA but it's the lines under/next to his eyes. Makes him look like he's got fucking Voldemort nostrils. I'd try to avoid painting anything in the nose area period.
Okay, now it's done. Also used all the totally chromatically incompatible burnt orangeses and dark tans for a little bit of crappy terrain. Also also, mining spider.
Shutters on the windows, just to make the whole front section marginally less likely to violently and explosively decompress at the first sign of space debris.I feel like the antennae sticking out of the front add, a certain, as the french say, "I don't know what".>>11846920And speaking of the french. >>11846986They tried to reboot it but got cancelled by jeets.>Cover your heart Indy! It’s “culturally insensitive” to accurately depict Indians.
>>11846986>>11846988I got a couple of those on clearance 1/2 price at Target. this might be the only set where you get hat-with-hair and just-hat, and it doesn't look all bad. Indy hat-hair crushes the previous Indy Minifigs. this was opposite-Luffy where I thought they needed to include regular hair and regular hat, so you could have the bit where the hat flies off and Indy picks it upnotice the totally [historical bad guy] plane but without any of the symbols on it, lol
>>11846988>>11847004It's ironic because the Temple of Doom looked like the only set I would have gotten.
>>11846988I will never understand the pearl clutching over temple of doom. How are you supposed to have an adventure in another part of the world without villains? It’s not like every Indian in the movie is a villain. There are plenty of good guys.
>>11847019The bad guys are bhramin and the good guys are dalits. Indian izzat demands the set be cancelled.
>>11847019>How are you supposed to have an adventure in another part of the worldYou're not. They can come to your land uninvited, but you don't get to decide to come to their land.
>>11847019the Marvel Cinematic Universe (also known as the MCU movie series) has that sort of cultural-sensitivity trouble with introducing the X-Men, almost to the point where they really CAN'T do it!X-"MEN"? what about the X-Women? or X-LGBTQAlphabet? you can't even use the word X-Men. okay sure the comics had a like X-Factor or something, but it's lame they can't use "X-Men"and we are quite far away from WW2, what do they even use as Magneto backstory? was he in an abusive Summer Camp as a child? 'cause he'd be pretty old now if he was in that other type of camp
>>11847029>you can’t even use the word X-Menyeah they didn't just release a show with X-Men in the title where the characters constantly say “X-Men” or anything
>>11847029>Faggotposter>Retarded nonsensical takeLike pottery
>>11847030cartoons don't counta goofy cartoon is far different than a theatrical release in theater, hopeful of billion-dollar-revenue type numbers. nobody pays attention to cartoons. DC has apparently many epic, high quality Justice League cartoon movies that shame any live-action offerings, but nobody has seen them because they are cartoonsNetflix made a live-action One Piece = Lego sets. 1000 episodes of a cartoon = no Lego sets (sorry but anime = cartoon)(okay Lego DID Make an X-Men '97 set... but my points are still valid for the MCU in current-year)
>>11847049>he doesn’t know about the costStill a fun set to be desu.
>>11847029>we are quite far away from WW2, what do they even use as Magneto backstory?Well if I was a big DEI retard than I'd make Magneto black and retcon it so that he was a victim of the Rwanda genocide.
>>11846595Where is bounty hunter pursuit?
>>11846923A certain, je ne sais quoi, friendo. Nice work
>>11847063In the trash where it belongs. Fuck AOTC.
I really need to complete a bricklink order, they’ve been rotting in my wishlist for quite a while
>>11847071Fuck you, spergboi
>>11847029>what do they even use as Magneto backstory?Well seeing as Adam Driver might be Magneto and the movie is about dimensional jumping, they're gonna say the X-Men are from a 90s world. Which would make sense because it's stupid that mutants are one thing but super heroes are another in Marvel. Like if you're born with super powers you're a mutant but if you gain super powers through a freak accident you're a super hero. It never made sense and it's the perfect reason why marvel should have never combined the IPs and it's why X-Men rarely showed up against the FF or Avengers or Spiderman.

>>11846595How do you go about making MOCs? I'm currently in a situation where I can't build because I lack space. I think a huge aspect of building MOCs comes down to part knowledge. Sure I can dig through Studio and try to come up with something, but nothing beats having all kinds of pieces at hand. So I guess the more sets you build the more part knowledge one gets.Something I’m still not sure about is whether it’s worth watching videos of MOCs by other builders. I always get really excited when I see something that appeals to me, but then I find myself wondering, "How did he do that?" and afterwards I feel this sense of emptiness because I probably wouldn't be able to pull it off myself.
>>11847251I also lack space but I have a dedicated moc shelf I rotate my builds out when I'm fed up of looking at them. Building sets can help learning techniques, a lot of it comes down to what you have already but I always end up having to order something from Bricklink whenever working on a new moc. Watching moc videos can be disheartening at first, but you can learn good techniques from them as well. I also have a separate Instagram just for lego and that is a pretty good place to find short form quick moc techniques, or find out about parts you didn't know existed. New Elementary is a good blog for keeping you up to date with what new weird parts lego is putting out, and they also public articles when those new parts are available to order on lego's Pick a Brick service. My best advice to you would be to just try building something small with what you've got. Limit yourself to 16x16, pick a classic theme or something you already have specialised pieces and minifigs for, try to think of a little scene and just go for it. Then post whatever you end up making here.Hope all that helps!picrel, something I built sticking to a 32x32 baseplate.

New sort report! Just finished up another bag tonight. The picture is a bit deceptive; each bag is about as round as it is wide
>>11847656>your good wills actually have legoWtf, how much?>>11847644Try making a basic moc out of the stuff you got, I have a fair bit of bulk but need to mix it up+get more bulk to build with
>>11847656Dumped on the table, we can see an NBA baseplate, conveyor belt, and some wooden wall panels from those Western sets.
>>11847663Wonder what build the cursed conveyer belt could be used in
>>11847662I regularly find them at my Midwest giodwill. 15 a bag for these, reckon they each weight 10-15 lbs. It's great value, but invariably Goodwill poaches the minifigs to sell in their online auction site. Still, I find bits and pieces.>>11847663Alright, got the common pieces and junk sorted out, we can see this one had an amazing mix of vintage pieces! Parts from Western, classic space monorails, Insectoids and Town. Of particular note is the white battery-box cover, which goes to the battery used (possibly) in the monorail as well as (definitely) the light-and-sound bricks. Fingers crossed I find the rest of it one of these other bags!
>>11847673I don’t really care for minifigs as much as the stuff you posted or general bulk, upper midwest or lower midwest? Since I’m in that sort of area, also the weird green clear thing is a Hero Factory piece. Glad there’s still being stuff found

>>11847685Will try to go down there tomorrow since besides a haul of 1.7 pounds for 17 dollars I haven’t had much luck with getting good bulk, here’s some of my earlier collection bits, main bit of pride there was getting sand red at all
>>11847685legit one of the worst sets from G2, the moment I saw it in stores I knew the line was gonna be in trouble
>>11847251You ainte gonna make mocs unless you start playing with your bricks. Building sets from instructions also helps you learn techniques. Studio is great for prototypes that you can then assemble with real bricks. Its important to keep your bricks organized so you can find what you need for your moc. Start small. Draw an idea on paper and try to create it.
>>11847718>>11847251Also just getting two random smaller sets, pouring out both the bags into one pile, and seeing what you can make is a good strategy, plan on doing that this weekend

>>11847726I did a space train, sort of. More like a monorail without the rail.
>>11847730Rare based Unitron enjoyer?
>>11847732That was the driving force behind the build actually, my squad of Unitron didn't have their own ship or vehicle. With all the green parts I've been hoarding from Lego store pick-a-brick wall visits I'm tempted to revisit this dropship I did for the Toy Story soldiers.
>>11847734Unitron is massively under-appreciated, not least by Lego themselves. Good on you for giving your boys a flagship.
>>11847736The Unitron guy with the silver shades was/is one of my favorites of that era of Space, never had any of their sets but got a few figs over time. The catalog diorama of their monorail being raided by Spyrius is one of Lego's all-time best.
