I got this

During the pre-order for this I went for the new MP prime instead. While that MP prime is good but I wouldn't call it like great great- people who have it would know what I'm talking about.

But this guy?
Takara held a booth last month at the local toy fair and had a few Trise figures and shield prime for public play. Once I played with it, I was sold.

Managed to get one with with a 26.66% discount from the original release price. Opening it up, I can see why this higher price than MP prime. This is diaclone level quality. I feel like if I actually have play tested the new MP prime I wouldn't have preordered it over this.

Anyway, not much to complain. But I do have to mention I feel like the head sculpt doesn't fit the body. It is too "normal" Prime. It should have been zoidsified a bit especially with the face plate though I don't know how to approach this.

Ziods Megatron when?

Were they? Was that the actual definition of "toy"? I agree prices (for everything) have gotten retarded and every corporation is playing a terminal game of "save a shareholder; fuck the customer", but you're a genuine dolt to assert that the purpose ANY toy is to be infinitely affordable on pocket change, just because that's what you need them to be.

I haven't even decided if I'm just going to cancel the whole thing. may as well stick with my Botcon Sunstorm since nobody matches anyway

>"hmm, Transformers cost a lot of money and keep getting more expensive..."
>"But... some toys... are cheap?"

>"Yes, that will do! Some toys cost 50 cents, so therefor, ALL toys should cost 50 cents!"

I regret getting them actually. They're not terrible but I've come to honestly prefer my Dramatic Capture seekers. So I'll probably sell the 86 guys off. Glad it saves me the trouble of trying to get Starscream, which is already turning into a shit show from I'm reading and hearing.
It is a shame about Sunstorm, but I might just try my luck on picking up a cheap ER Starscream and painting him into Sunstorm myself. I can live without the Rainmakers, and if I change my mind there is always the Siege set.

Pic related, like to me this just looks RIGHT. Everyone instantly recognizable but slightly stylized in the same matching aesthetic, without the hodgepodge of scales and styles you see in the recent 86 stuff. And that's just the Seekers, not even getting into the whole Astrotrain debacle.
>>
>>11852319
Yeah I like mine a lot too. I wish there was somewhere to store the motorcycle in robot mode, I'd like if the Zoid mouth was actually poseable, and if there was maybe some kind of locking mechanism for the robot mode legs since there's so many joints in there for Zoid mode it can be a little janky to get them both matching. Very minor complaints.

It was so refreshing to handle a figure not only with such quality, heft, and density, but such detail as well. The care and the passion of the designers really shows in it.

I'm kind of turning towards just being a Toyrise guy. This and the Brave figures I have are all stellar, and Overhead looks like such a breath of fresh air. I've really grown tired of obvious corner cutting in mainline while prices continue to rise. Sure it's more expensive to import this stuff for me, but I'm actually happy with the figure itself and not left accepting major flaws just because "well they're probably never going to make another Armada Sideways..."
>>
>>11852513
>>11852517
You're both idiots who lack critical reading skills. The original statement was that "you're a genuine dolt to assert that the purpose ANY toy is to be infinitely affordable on pocket change". This is not true, because there literally ARE toys that are made with that in mind - not Transformers, obviously, but the statement was that no toys ever were designed to be cheap and affordable.

..anon are you implying gifts aren't a thing anymore?
You just got old and no one is buying you gifts anymore. People still give and get gifts. I gave my nephew a gift this last weekend. My girlfriend got me a gift a few weeks ago. I don't really get gifts anymore for my birthday or christmas but younger people in my family still do.
And no all figures weren't just available always. There's a ton of BW, BM, Armada, and Energon figures I could never get because they just weren't distributed well, especially at the end of those lines. Hell I remember trying to find 2007 Bumblebee was a whole quest.

Right? They're nostalgic, they're super easy and cheap to make, nobody owns the patent (though only World Pog Federation ones can call theirs POGs I think, which is funny since it derives from a juice drink brand that they do not own. but I guess it's like how 'Frisbee' is trademarked despite it being the name of the company whose pie-plates people were throwing around, except spelled funny.). you could do literally every franchise as pogs, and people would pay up to, what, 15-20 cents for each one? that's like 18 cents profit.
>pog comes from pog
wait really? I knew there was a reason I liked that one bit of gen z slang while despising the rest. Twitch really had a pogs championship stream? nuts. I mean, let's be real, the game didn't fucking work
It wasn't 'crazy bones' level of nonfunctional, but the game was designed around actual Passionfruit-Orange-Guava or milk caps, which had a STAPLE in them. the staple makes them unstable enough to flip when struck. The ones we all bought do not, so the game doesn't work for shit.

It's not even the general engineering or design.

The current mainline is cursed with bunch of minor QC issues happening at most critical parts that I have never encountered at this level of frequency.

Just this thread you already got people complaining about 86 shockwave- a figure next to no paint and they still manages to fuck it up at the molding level

Used to be you can get like 10 figures in one go and maybe like one of them got some issues big enough to write about but still not a boner killer.
Now you got like 50/50 chance of getting a figure that did not even print its eye/face properly. Remember that one anon who get a 2 pack and both the visors are fucked up?

This is really not acceptable with the higher than ever price.
People are willing to pay more as long they get what they expected and decently non QCed ridden toy.

Going from stuff from Takara, the problem is clearly with Hasbro
Hasbro needs to put it's foot down hard with their QC guys in Vietnam. Unless their strategy is to force people to buy multiple copy to kitbash a decent figure out of them.

You know that Google Lens can translate the text from pretty much any image, right? I'm assuming you want the two big chunks of text:

>TRANSFORMERS Age of the Primes AOTP-36 Nexus Prime THE THIRTEEN NEXUS PRIME ▶The face design inherits the design that appeared in "ONE". The design motif is a mix of Heatwave, the Transformers Collectors' Club exclusive item in which the character first appeared, his appearance in "ONE", and the depiction in the book "Covenant of Primus". At first glance it looks like a simple two-stage transforming Voyager class, but a huge head exists inside its torso. The included instructions only describe the single-stage transformation, but overseas it has been suggested that a body to make him a true combiner will be released.
>An example of the combined form with Aerialbots attached to the arms and legs. As mentioned above, the existence of Nexus Prime's combination attachment units and the members that will become its arms and legs is currently undisclosed. However, its body is fully compatible with the Superion frame included with AOTP-01 Silverbolt, and Nexus Prime, when transformed into combined mode, can form the body in place of Silverbolt and combine with the frame with Superion's chest turned to the back.

I'm sure everyone at Hasbro is completely convinced that they will be gone soon, and are just lining their pockets. In the same way you can't expect us to buy subquality merch at premium prices, you can't expect them to continue doing their jobs when they don't believe those jobs will be there long.

Yeah. It's pretty fucked. This is some of the QC issues I've run into:

-Alpha aTrion has awful excess plastic right on the hinge of his cockpit, so it always feels like I'll break when transforming it.
-Shockwave having a giant cut on his chest.
-Thundercracker arriving without his face
-Sideways arriving with on of his hips all scratched up, and dented, his waist is also slightly off set, not sure why.
-Powerglide having one of his hips looking like some acid fell on it.

Takara doesn't escape unscathed either, their Lio Convoy arrived with paint damage on the head, mold damage a claw, and the tail missing.
>>
>>11853736
For the most part yes

>>11853744
But only issues out of this I agree with are the eyes, and shoulders being an issue but for super mode actually. They're stupidly short. I hate hasbros weird obsession of making something almost perfect but do like one or two stupid changes that knock it down a bit.

Yeah, I was expecting this to be much more of a mess. it's a mess for sure, but it's not a shitty mess. It's kind of in the same boat with guys like Rampage and Depth Charge.
I guess the answer to how they would handle all the spindly, skeletal understructure is to make it abstract and use the waffling to their advantage. It actually looks really plausible as a real monster truck. It's just a shame the cab just becomes a backpack like that, I feel like that was wholly avoidable.

>>11853967

In 2026? In a post-Rexblade world?
>>
>>11853994
well they connect to the body of the truck along tiny axles, because they are huge oversized TIRES, not oversized wheels. There's very little you could do, except split them up, and even then..

What these are the same thing, that's literal nonsense. Monster truck transformers have been completely solved and we're getting this. I'm not an animal Hasbro, I'm a human being...
>>
>>11854005
Do you not get the difference? These have fenders and huge housings. They aren't connected to any visible axle, they're connected to those pieces.
>>
>>11854007
Rexblade too is just a wheel on an axle. Just fold part of the truck cab over it to get that chunky look then, or accordion the wheels inward. Anyway the most important thing they didn't do is the splitting wheel, which could be done any number of ways.
>>
>>11853967
This looks oddly solid. Non TF TFs are the best TFs getting made recently it seems. At the very least far and away the more exciting releases.
>>
>>11854010
No that's what I'm saying Rexblade is, UNLIKE the guy you're saying should use the same engineering. Who can't, because huge gaps around the axles is part of what makes it a monster truck.
but yeah, splitting wheel was possible. the question is where would they go?
>>
>>11854014

While I don't think anons comparison to rexblade is particularly relevant, they could have done more to internalize the wheels somehow. Not only would it have done wonders for the size of the figure given the other collab characters heights but would have also meant he wouldn't have giant tumors hanging off his limbs.

Think proto armada monster convoy.

Evil ass grim reaper skeleton monster truck transformer with a flaming scythe is like the coolest transformer concept ever. I just wish the toy looked as good as the concept sounds on paper, like the entire top of the truck hanging off his back is really lame. they could have at least made it look like a cape
I actually like the wheels on his shoulders, it gives him a bit of an interesting interesting silhouette, and some continuity between both modes. I wish the bottom ones could have folded into his shins or something to beef them up, I unno.
>>
Onslaught arrived in the mail, and I just attached Brawl and Blast Off to his frame, but... I noticed the instructions don't show how to transform Vortex and Swindle into limbs. I assume it'll be fairly easy to figure out how to attach Vortex, but I just wanted to check with anyone here who might have also gotten Onslaught, am I missing a second page of instructions or something? (If I remember correctly, I think Long Haul and Hook came with two pages of instructions for all the combining transformations.) I'm hoping Swindle's instructions will show how to transform him into a leg when he comes out, but Vortex's certainly don't. I tried looking online for a scan of Onslaught's instructions to make sure I'm not missing anything, but nothing seems to be showing up yet.
>>
>>11854575
Apparently Hasbro can't advertise toys in the instructions that aren't currently "on shelves" the same time.
>>
>>11854576
that is simultaneously an understandable and infuriating regulation
among other things, how do YOU know when the toy's being sold? I bought TMNT figs that advertised figs from like 6 years ago, because they were still on the shelf, but the ones they're advertising were not.
>>
>>11854576
Okay, so it's a relief that I'm not missing a page of instructions at least. Thanks! But it's odd that Vortex's limb transformation wasn't even on his own instructions if he couldn't be included on Onslaught's. I wonder if his rumored upcoming re-release will have updated instructions.

I also wonder whether this rule is some sort of actual law, or if it's just self-imposed by Hasbro. If it's a law, I guess there isn't much they can do about it, but if it's something they decided themselves, then it's incredibly stupid to stick so rigidly to it for stuff like combiners.
>>
>>11854428
The weird one flaw this figure has. Everything else is pretty good for what it is. I just wish the energy masters could do more unique animal shapes like frogs or gorillas or sharks or something.

Given the focus on Cybertron's continuity, the fact that they both transform into stealth bombers, and this figure also holding a Soundwave cassette player, this is 100% Cybertron Soundwave being represented by a redeco of Earthspark Soundwave. Whether it’s a New Legends toy or not I’m not sure, especially since every other retooled or redecoed toy in the line has been a Generations mold

Got a second copy of this guy

Nothing wrong with the first one, just getting another to get ready for Jetfire combine mode.
Personally speaking the super mode is always a meh for me so I am freeing one for normal bot mode.

>Chipped paint on the right chest

Yeah great going. No this is not because of the super mode combination. This is probably already damaged during the factory assembly.

For all those complaint about QCs, I think one of the biggest issue is the fact I don't know when it started to happen but I feel the current paint they are using is not as durable. I remember even during 10's the only way you can damage the paint job is with either chemical or metal item. As nothing hurt the plastic the paint will stay.

These days all you need have the paint get in contact with something and there is a risk of the paint being scrape or chip away.

Nexus is sort of a "reverse combiner" in that he was originally one guy who ripped himself into five other entities, rather than a normal combiner being a bunch of separate unrelated dudes who temporarily merge into a gestalt; the combined form of Nexus is his real body, and his limbs became self-aware and developed personalities of their own after being separated for so long.

If you look closely plenty of transformers have two shades of the same color nowadays due to the different plastics they use, so it's not proof that the POM parts are going to always be affected by extreme photodegradation. Time will tell.

Unless someone's tried to cram Brawl onto Silverbolt and it worked you're either gonna need an Onslaught or they're actually gonna give Nexus his own frame at some point in the future.
>>

Stupid question but were the Predacons in G1 the same size as the Dinobots? And I’m talking about the cartoon because I know the toys for both of those were the same size because I have both. It's because you're more likely to buy other figures while you're waiting for the figure you actually want to be released, since you're keeping your eye on the franchise for longer. If they just released all the Thirteen Original Primes all at once, many people would just buy the 13 then be done with it. But since they drip-feed them to us, people buy other unrelated figures to sate their hunger.

The best TLDR I can give is that its extremely inconsistent due to switching main writers at various points, the storylines are pants-on-head retarded, and the later stuff becomes tumblr fanfiction. They restarted it with a different comic in 2019 and I think that one is okay for the most part, if meandering with shitty art near the end.
>>
>>11855870
I didn't say it was bad, just not mature like you are looking for. Its a fun series of comics but it tries a little too hard to be surface level "mature" while never really committing to it.
>the robots are kissing but who cares about that now, swerve just blew his own face off that silly goose
Like I said, the live action movies for all their faults are much more mature.
>>
>>11855870
Shit story (Unicron was hugged to death with the power of love and anticolonialism), Star Saber was butchered like others JG1 guys, characters were unlikeable etc.
>>
>>11855830
The thing I never got about the spare frames argument is, if you're into combiners enough to want the full Nexus Prime combiner then wouldn't it stand to reason you have Superion and/or Bruticus already, since they're much higher profile characters?
Like, who are these people that so invested in a nobody like Nexus and his limbs but who don't want the Aerialbots and Combaticons? Is this just contrarianism run amok (as usual)?
Now, I could totally get it if you told me you need an extra frame to display Nexus/Bruticus/Superion all at the same time, sure. The problem with that is that a lot of the same people I see complaining are also the ones who don't like display shelves and insist that we should actually play with our toys.
>>
>>11855870
They had SOME good ideas but most of it is bad fanfic-tier, with fags and trannies everywhere, Marvel quipping constantly, and edgy OC donut steel characters everywhere like Tarn, Drift, etc.

You're understating it. Gay relationships (Chromedome and Rewind, Cyclonus and Tailgate) and Arcee being Galvatron's mtf brother are all major plot points in the post-war books.

No, it's a business model. Hasbro makes one toy to be "as close to Sunbow as a non-MP can be" then releases a sidegrade a year later at a higher price point.
>He says, while also bitching that Nexus won't come with a frame of his own.
Yes, EVERYONE should bitch about incomplete about half-assed incomplete product that will probably get HasbroPulseTM-exclusive DLC. It's preying on FOMO and there's no excuse (besides line go up infinitely) for a multinational corp like Hasbro to do that. The same is true for Haslab and MTO Seekers.

There's no way we're seeing a new Superion or Bruticus again for many years (probably another decade, which is around how long since their CW versions came out). But even if we did...I'd be sticking with the ones I have. Perfectly happy with my AOTP versions, the ones you claim are too tooner yet too inaccurate at the same time somehow.

probably almost zero, since it wasn't designed by Takara, and since she didn't get a toy for Hasbro to import unlike the Deluxe Insecticons it's probably in a really hazy area legally.

Dude doesn't get the credit he deserves. He found a way to intercept a spark before it joined the matrix. Think about that in human terms. You have a loved one in the hospital. They've barely been hanging in there, and finally, it becomes too much. They're dead. You'll never hear from then again, everything concerning them in your life will forever be in the past tense.

Then this guy comes in the room with a machine and says "wait here, I'm going in." He straps on his fucking headset or whatever, proceeds to surf the astral web, and snipes your loved one's soul before it can go to Heaven/Valhalla if you're Jewish.

A nurse then rolls in a stretcher that has what looks to be a manakin of some sort on it. The guy, still wearing his VR headset, plugs a USB cable into the manakin, and it immediately takes the shape of your loved one. They're back.

You'd be fuckin amazed. This man has cheated death for the betterment of both your life and mankind as a whole. You're in awe of what this means as a society.

Or at least that's how it was supposed to go. The manakin was actually exposed to transwarp radiation and your loved one comes back with a blend of their organic self but adorned shiny metallic parts and they're inexplacibly able to produce a hoverboard from the back of their shins.

Yeah, he, Megatron, Tarantulas,Terrorsaur, Rattrap, and (surprisingly) Waspinator had some of the coolest Transmetal toys of the bunch. In comparison, I never really cared for Cheetor's, felt Airazor's was kinda lame, and thought Primal's had a bit of a lackluster transformation (though it looked cool and is definitely my preferred version of the character). Pretty much all of the TM2s were awesome, though.

Well, I was saying about the size differences between their planet modes to see if Primus necessarily needs a HasLab, and if he does get one, it would fail unless they pull out all the stops and reveal the stretch goals early like the last two (for Omega Prime, Blue Bolts was made into a full Weaponizer when they initially plan on making her a static weapon, and then came the Matrix Blade and the rising road stands, and maybe the addition of the RID Cerebros, while Liokaiser immediately started things with Deathcobra and the Fierce Fighting Battle Staffs, before hiding the display stand and storage for the staffs).

They've been doing that for 15 years. The Prime Wars trilogy was entirely 5-10 minute youtube vids. The reason they did that is it lets them reach kids without investing in TV network licenses and working with Netflix or whatever, also they figured out adult collectors don't watch Saturday morning cartoons. Though I'm not sure how much that applies to MLP.
Their current strategy is actually spamming collabs ever since it made them a bunch of money with Magic the Gathering. pic related was originally a joke and then it came true.

While I'm here I just remembered that The Hub (along with its international equivalents) used to have a Transformers show airing around he time of MLP. I actually remember watching it as a kid and later dropping after a major show event I don't entirely recall (I think they gave Bumblebee a proper voice in one season? Don't remember). Can someone recall what the hell younger me was rewatching?

Your franchise is kinda nuts with amount of adaptations it has received, not sure if I'm even gonna be able to Google the answer to my question

MLP toys are actually pretty weird in that Hasjew /refused to make plushies/. Adult fans of the show didn't really care about plastic brushables or whatever, they just wanted the plushies. The cunts made proper show-accurate G4 plushies only after G% FUCKING ENDED.

Isn't Cocks getting sued by the fucking Board of Hasbro for ruining the brand with unnecessary collabs? Kek

That's hardly something to get upset and drop a show over - Bumblebee ALWAYS had a proper voice (at least up until the Bayverse movies gave him Wreck-Gar's gimmick).

Hasbro is being sued by it's shareholders if that's what you mean, but also because they overprinted and allegedly lied about the 30th anniversary edition selling out and dumped the product in a landfill.

Thoughts on the cancelled Twilight Sparkle Prime Botcon toy? It would have been a recolor (and maybe head retool) of pic related.

nah I just remember that after that the show just had exceptionally worse writing

(kinda like Princess Twilight in S3 finale)

Again, don't remember much at this point, should probably do my own >research tbdesu

yeah I remember something about that getting discussed on /mlp/ kek
many just pointed this as being a /toy/ & /tg/ habbening while the board was still butthurt over Live-Action MLP Movie NOT getting cancelled

Hasbro has always thought girl toys icky for the most part. Honestly a lot of the designers probably need TRT.

I'd only have to replace the head, chest, most of the arms, and give it an ass to make it servicable. Amazing progress on female representation Hasbro! Y'all niggers didn't believe me when I said Windblade was the sign of the end times.

I imagine it being translucent, with a simple shape like Charmander's tail. Probably would have to compromise on the size of the hair for the sake of transformation.

The only downside about this kit is I don't think the individual vehicles have a robot form. At least it's cheaper than getting another Superion frame and two recolours and still being incomplete.

>I genuinely am curious how you pull of Firestar's Firestorm esque head design.

Easy. The fire is just an effect part that plugs into the top of her head that comes off so the head fits into vehicle mode. Transform her and plug it in for robot mode. Possible fire coming out of the back of the car in car mode?

Also allows for silly things like plugging other things into her head.

2014. Honestly, I just love Battle Unicorn in general, so I probably would have gotten it even though I don't care for The Horse Show just do that I could have every version of the mold.
While we're on the topic of both Battle Unicorn and MLP - while I was glad he actually got to cameo in something, but it bugged me that they A) made him look purely robotic even though he's a Technorganic cyborg and B) scaled him to Windblade instead of to the ponies, because he's supposed to be around the size of the BW cast.
Image cropped as best as possible to avoid pissing off certain individuals.
