I miss core class.
>>11859240>What was your favorite reveal from SDCC?Alpha Bravo?
>>11859240Shredhead looks cool, how are they gonna paywall it? Pulse exclusive? Only going to a store not in my state? Limited run? Stuck in an expensive box set? Scalped to oblivion on day 1?
>>11859261Yeah it's pulse exclusive
Green
>>11859264Why can't those cheap merchants do stuff like this more often? If they're gonna charge you an arm and a nut for everything then at least they could do more to give you more for the money.
>>11859261>>11859263i can't blame them for putting Shredhead as a pulse exclusive, it probably was the only place they could do the paint budget justice. They did this with the recent Flamewar as well.
>>11859240Nautica
They showed plenty of non g1, non tooner stuff this time around so I don't get OP.
Nautica. She got hit with current design things, but she's still appealing.
>>11859263Fuck this hobby
>the red fighter plane is a blue plane>the blue Powerglide is a red space shuttle???What is with Nexus Prime's limb guys? These seem swapped in colors for some reason with the originals.
>>11859240Nautica a close second. Both translate really well plastic.
>>11859274Just a tard trying to force a meme
Walewave, Nautica and Red Alert.>To be clear, still uncertain about a Nexus Maximus frame. They will be discussing feedback once they return from SDCC.Heh, Freudian slip
>IDW Nautica!!>but we changed her chest and all her other parts so that it doesnt look like IDW Nautica, but just has kinda the same head and outer silhouette
>>11859305its not a Freudian slip, they can use the Nexus Maximus trademark now that the dildo is no longer on the market.
>>11859295Never heard of this guy before but he reminds me of Cannonballboth black vans with very unique decals
>>11859069>>11859099>>11859227Where is this from? I tried searching, and the only GGT Toys that comes is an RC car place and an instagram that won't load.
>>11859328He's an OC from the current Skybound comics, a bunch of spark remnants got jammed together and now it's a new Autobot who turns into Carly's van.
>>11859307It's not fair
>>11859354>rest your head on my voluminous bosom that won't be included in my toy
>>11859330Another pic had "DP Robot Store" on it which is a very large Aliexpress Shop that is mostly all 3P and othersThey get some great harder to find stuffSeems it's "QQT" as the maker? and follows the "Liberation" style of 3P kits which is "Combiner Frame itself and or Limb" configured Vehicle" style partsSo you could buy the Hasbro Commander/Frame and just get their kit to gap fill and skip $100+ on 4 Deluxes, two of which you won't even see in Combiner formSo far only found the Aliexpress listing from themhttps://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256812623374144.html
>>11859354I remember a while back, like a year or two ago maybe? I saw an anon wanting them to make her so badly. I wonder how let down he is over this announcement
>>11859396>>11859397>>11859402>>11859404At least post accurate chunky robot roboporn.
>>11859397Cvte
>muh bewbsYou people are pathetic
>>11859415What are you even talking about
>>11859367Thanks much, anon
>>11859415Men like boobs, you'd understand this if you weren't an inferior.
>>11859415she's the first IDW release in studio series and hasbro has faceplanted straight out of the gates because, like you, they're either terrified of attractive women or desperate to appease troons.
>>11859295I haven't cared about Shredhead in the comic at all but he makes for a really cool toy.
Reposting from the previous thread, as I didn't realize it was already dead.>>11859130>What year Botcon was this going to be in again? She would've been released for Botcon 2014. Honestly, I just love Battle Unicorn in general (dude deserves a modern remake), so I probably would have gotten it even though I don't care for The Horse Show just do that I could have every version of the mold. While we're on the topic of both Battle Unicorn and MLP - while I was glad he actually got to cameo in something, but it bugged me that they A) made him look purely robotic even though he's a Technorganic cyborg and B) scaled him to Windblade instead of to the ponies, because he's supposed to be around the size of the BW cast.Image cropped as best as possible to avoid pissing off certain individuals.
>>11859305I'm still not clear on something. We saw two components in nexus colors, are thry making two more later or are they saying you need to "complete" it with Alpha Bravo and G2 Wild Rider?
>>11859440Will you relax? Female robots don't sell. The less feminine they look the better the chances of them not rotting on shelves.
>>11859446Two more are coming later.
>>11859451I really wish they just did this guy normally. I feel a lot of people will wait since no one knows how they'll sell the frame. It's a 5 figure box set then everyone who bought early is getting triple fucked over.
>>11859454Its because it took so long for them to decide on how to do Nexus in the first place.
>>11859444>>11859130They were never "going" to do itThe Twilight Prime appeared during a presentation of rejected/canceled repaint ideasIt was a spitballed joke idea they never had any real intention of doing
>>11859447Do people even remember when they used to tell you to shut the fuck up anymore?Fuck we're getting old, Boco.
>>11859447that logic doesn't hold up in a collector line whose sole purpose is producing toys that are accurate to the source material.
>>11859468Age is a bitch.Yes sir...
>>11859469Its a retail line. At the end of the day Hasbro only cares about kids seeing it in stores and getting their parents to buy it. The collector angle is secondary.
>>11859469>collector lineIf I can buy it on the shelf at Walmart it is not a collector line. That's just hasbro marketing so we grown men feel less bad about buying toys.
>>11859245You can tell the designers miss it too because of all the gift sets they’ve made full of potential Core Class toys, like the Mini-Con pack or the Cereal exclusive
>>11859491I still want Spittor from that Naruto frog.
>>11859415Hi Frank
>>11859496Got aotp powerglide. He's not perfect but I dig him. Have always wanted a good powerglide so this is nice. He is such a loveable scamp.
>>11859491>>11859493i have to imagine Diver/Spittor will happen from Gamakichi, otherwise why design him to basically be that design?
>>11859501Oops didn't mean to reply
>>11859512Same reason they designed Dilophocon to look like Iguanus, it's just an homage.I'm pretty sure they can't reuse any Collab molds/toolings. They might be caught up in the licensing.
>Multiple figures from Energon coming in 2027.The anime or the Image comic?
>>11859568Leader class Scorponok and Generation Selects Tidal Wave.
>>11859572That it? There were some other cool Cons on that show. The Autobots toys....not so much.
>>11859568Image.Would love some Energon updates though.
>>11859572Oh right. Forgot about those leaks. No interest in Tidal Wave, the titan class is far too big for that, but I'm excited for Scorponok.
>>11859454>I really wish they just did this guy normally.I get the feeling that they originally had no intention of making all of his components and were content with releasing just the first guy and leaving him at that (hence why they named him Nexus Prime instead of Heatwave, why he didn't come with his own frame, and why he's largely based off of his ONE appearance, who didn't combine). The current release "strategy" for him is a direct result of all the complaints calling Hasbro out for it, so now they're backpedaling and giving us some quick and lazy repaints for the missing limbs - this wasn't something they had planned to do from the start. I'm pretty sure they still haven't figured out what they're going to do about his frame, since they already released the dude it should have come with.
>>11859621They should have just given up.
>>11859447>Will you relax? I will relax if you tell me why you wear the tripcode. Otherwise Im going to chud and sperg out even more
I just saw this listing for SG Drift on Mercari and realized that this mold would be a pretty good base for a custom fembot.
>>11859621>The current release "strategy" for him is a direct result of all the complaints calling Hasbro out for it, so now they're backpedaling and giving us some quick and lazy repaints for the missing limbsThat's not remotely how any of this works. All this stuff is planned out years in advance. They can't just ring up the factory and ask them to shit out a few limb-bots out of nowhere within a few months because a group of less than 100 terminally online nerds complained extremely vocally about it.
>>11859415Faggot
I'll laugh if Takara just randomly reveals a retooled Silverbolt frame for Nexus, along with the four repaints Hasbro has planned, for a New Legends release.
Takara should do galaxy convoy. A real one.
>>11859733>They can't just ring up the factory and ask them to shit out a few limb-bots out of nowhere within a few months because a group of less than 100 terminally online nerds complained extremely vocally about it.Except they actually can.
>>11859742The fact that G2 Menasor has shown us this is a realistic possibility is what makes me hesitant to go all in on Hasbro's Nexus limbs. And Takara would probably get their colors right, unlike how the new Breakaway somehow manages to have the exact REVERSE colors for every single major part of the figure. Heck, they might even do things like give the torso bot a new head as Heatwave, resculpt the combined head to look like Timelines Nexus, or even make different mold choices for the limb bots. Unfortunately, it was years after Menasor's G1 release in Legacy that Takara stepped in to reveal their G2 set, so it might be a long wait. And even then, there's no guarantee, so waiting might just result on missing out on any limbs at all for Nexus without having to pay aftermarket prices. Makes me long for the days before Siege when it was almost a sure thing that Takara would make upgraded versions of Hasbro's figures (but that's probably why Hasbro eventually raised a fit and put a stop to it, 'cause too many fans were passing on their stuff to wait for the inevitable Takara versions).
>>11859742Takara's new Generations book outright says they have no idea what Hasbro's planning for Nexus.
>>11859261Two of the Wal-Marts around me all got rid of the voyager and leader shelfspace during a recent reset so I don't even care at this point.
>>11859799That's my point, they might do their own take, like they did with Menasor.
>>11859274They've released a shit load of non sunbow stuff over the last few years but retards still keep crying. The first wave of Age of Evolution is mostly animated and fucking Energon Decepticons and people are too busy crying over studio series 86 to care.
>>11859850They won't. Takara Transformers is a nostalgia enterprise, no one in Japan gives a fuck about funpub characters.
>>11859860>nostalgia enterprise yet they make original characters more than hasbro
>>11859863Wild King is their kid line yes. Do you think they'd sell a Nexus Prime combiner set to kids you dumbfuck?
>>11859765Is the number really that high? That would remove anyone who buys from stores at minimum from wait for Takara.
>>11859621It's more likely the design team had wanted to make Nexus a commander but higher ups wanted Superion/Silverbolt, Bruticus/Onslaught, and Jetfire in those slots amd did not approve a fourth. They were already lucky to have gotten two in one year. I assume this meant the team probably had to downgrade Nexus and it's loose connectivity with Silverbolt was built in during this process as a way to give the fans something to work with because they had already worked the limbs into the schedule and they had no time to drop them and design brand new retools from the limb molds. That's just my guess though.
>>11859877It's as good of a guess as any. In my opinion, the solution would have been to make Nexus Prime as the Titan with a full team packed into the box, and instead of Star Convoy, just do Logos Prime as a voyager since "The Arisen" is a stupid concept anyway. But who knows, maybe the higer-ups were insistent that there has to be an "Optimus" somewhere there in the Age of the Primes line.
>>11859870Projection is incredibly unbecoming. They infact would do this, yes.
>>11859894Wouldn't Nexus Prime just be Nexus Prime with all his combiner limbs attached? That's his base form, isn't it?Not like there were any other Cybertronians around to combine with.
>>11859733>They can't just ring up the factory and ask them to shit out a few limb-bots out of nowhere within a few monthsExcept they literally can and literally did. Were you not paying attention when they initially said they had no plans to make Nexus a dedicated combiner?
>>11859894You're delusional.
>>11859900They said they had no plans to make in a dedicated combiner frame and that hasn't changed. He still has no frame and there are still no real plans for a frame. Limbs on the other hand are something we've known about for months now. We have known since around the time the figure was first revealed.
Toys Are Russ interviewed Evan and Nate. Shredhead is Pulse exclusive because they didn't want to compromise the paint apps. Energeon Universe is also planned to be a Pulse exclusive capsule. The plan is to do 4 Energon Universe figures a year. Armada Demolisher is coming next year. They also want to redo duds like Generations Strong Arm in Studio.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNw8V3FbtUI
Nexus prime is genuinely baffling to me. They really managed to do it in a way that satisfies nobody AND requires you to buy a second Silverbolt. This would MAYBE satisfy someone autistic enough to buy 2 sets of Aerialbots and use one set as Superion and the rest as individual bots.
>>11859900>they initially said they had no plans to make Nexus a dedicated combiner? No, they didn't. They said they had no plans to make a dedicated frame, not that they never planned limbs. Nice try though.
>>11859899>Wouldn't Nexus Prime just be Nexus Prime with all his combiner limbs attached? This sort of confusion is why the original Nexus Prime's torso bot was a different guy, Heatwave, while his combined mode was Nexus Prime, and why the current AotP version has his torso bot being Nexus Prime while the combined mode is called Nexus Maximus. >AND requires you to buy a second SilverboltIt's even worse than that. It would require you to buy TWO Silverbolts if you wanted to display both Superion and a combined Nexus, which would leave you a hundred bucks poorer and with an extra Silverbolt lying around with no frame to combine with. And on top of that, the Superion frame doesn't even match Nexus Prime's color scheme, so if they eventually release a G2 Aerialbots set which would match Nexus's colors, then the problem repeats itself with a second version of Silverbolt, except this time you'll end up with an entire extra team who can't combine just so you can give the frame to Nexus.
>>11859948I think the best solution is to do some kind of weaponizer Heatwave and release it alongside a modified Superion frame that better fits with Nexus. The fact that they didn't just make him Combiner Wars-styled tells me they really did have a frame planned that got nixed due to budget allocation.
>2030: Nexus Prime consists of 2 commanders, 8 limbs, a "weaponizer" leader that is made entirely out of connection ports, and a voyager. There is a slightly different colors version of the voyager out as well.
>>11859948>>11859970Upgrades will be neccessary
>>11859922Strong Arm is probably the only fembot I could see them doing justice
>>11860013I think that Elita mold made for a pretty good fembot. I really liked the Minerva and the variable shoulder kibble was a really good idea because it means you have three versions of the same mold that you can display in three unique ways. Its just not good for Strong Arm and the head is way too big.
>fembots don't sellMeanwhile in reality Tachy singlehandedly introduced metal cardbot to a worldwide audience and is still selling for way too much on ebay. You just need to make them appealing, not a brick afraid of showing feminine curves.
>>11860093I need to get this
>>11860093Fuck off freak, no one gives a shit about your korean robots.
>>11860122I do.
>>11860093my issue with fembots is that for a good while there all of them were redecos of a pretty mediocre moldkingdom airazor and black arachnia were pretty decent though, yeah?
>>11860122I've no idea why some anons in here react so negatively to the idea of other robot brands
>>11860155Kingdom Black Arachnia is a fucking marvel of engineering. Show accurate robot that fits into the world's tiniest backpack. Its a bit fiddly but they really did a great job overall. I think fembots in general have gotten better though. They stopped doing as many of those Titans Returns-era bricks.
>>11860181From what I've seen, some people really only care about the Transformers BRAND and don't actually like transforming robot toys in a broader sense. Kind of like that anon a while back who threw a shit-fit over "power rangers style robots" when someone brought up some new Brave toys.
>>11860181Brand loyalty, maybe? Either that or they just don’t like the thread getting too off topic. It’d be weird to bring up TF in a Gundam thread, for example. >>11860183I’m glad they’re finally experimenting with making more original fembot molds in size classes other than deluxe. Here’s hoping we get a Voyager Elita soon
>>11860183Like most things, they are a crapshoot because future reuse plans or weird design choices or QC issues can appear. Transformers is pretty interesting because as a toy they all do the same thing, but the forms and way to get there are unique.
>>11860181Some people can be autisticly loyal but I also think some people just get pissy when people come into threads and wave Cardbots or third parties in their face as if they're all absolutely perfect 10/10 figures with no flaws because that's just not the case. Tachy for example has some really wonky proportions, a massive backpack, and when you add armor to her she loses quite a bit of articulation. And she's a good figure but all those things make people meltdown over Transformers figures. Its very hypocritical and that can get annoying. >>11860223We'll probably see Elita Prime in the new Pulse Energon Universe capsule.
Hey guys I haven't read anything in this thrrad but cardbots and 3P are absolutely perfect and hope you're mad.
>>11860239>We'll probably see Elita Prime in the new Pulse Energon Universe capsule. It'd be funny to see Arcee Magnus' alt mode in a toy announcement before it shows up in the comic
Neat looking.
>>11860255So who do you think we're getting first, Blue Big Convoy, Ultra Mammoth, or Nemesis Prime?
>>11860255I find it amusing that Optimus is typically a static red and blue but the Japanese just go fuck it and make color schemes like this
>>11860268Some series like RiD15 did Optimus Prime in same-character redecos.
>>11860268It reminds of Aaron Archer complaining about the Universe Optimus deco because to him it was important that Optimus was kept as a red truck
>>11860255Hoping to see this RGB team up in New Legends manga.
>>11860255This looks like it would be the plot of a Legends comic.
>>11860286The obvious answer is to just make it a new guy.
>>11860286The red chrome when everything else is yellow is just so ugly.
>>11860286I wish toys werent so expensive now. I really want to do this repaint in real life. I love giving trucks optimus colors. (And unrelated but gundams rx78 colors)
>>11860304>unrelated but gundams rx78 colorsI mean they're basically the same colors but redistributed aside from the yellow
Colour proto
>>11860325Is this nigga haslab?
>>11860330No, he’s New Legends, but he also cost $130, so he’d might as well be one
>>11860309Yeah I guess? There's a lot that aren't though. And I like changing minute details . I dont usually post these though
>>11860239It's fun watching people pretend Tachy's fuckhuge backpack doesn't exist just because she has thunder thighs in the cartoon.
>>11860093I read the US and UK got an official release a few months ago. How popular are they?
>>11860333Haslabs are way more than 130. This is more like a made to order. >>11860367They're exclusive to online storefronts and I don't think they're doing large production runs. The thought the intent was to get it into big box stores when they announced it but I guess they didn't buy into the franchise.
>>11860367Don't know about the UK releases but the US releases so far were just the first half of season 1s toys. It must've done well enough since they are dubbing season 2 with professionals instead of whatever happened to season 1 and accelerating bringing season 2 and 3s toys over.
>>11859970Really he should have been a 5 pack of Combiner Wars retools.
>>11860338I like big backpack and I cannot lie
>>11860374Wave 2 for the US comes out soon. I'm kind of tempted to start collecting because the US releases are cheap and I think the robot modes look neat but I really hate the robot mode eyes.
he got fat
>>11860093I hate that cardbots have eyes in their alt mode like Pixar Cars. Also the name is dumb.
>>11860542More like he's not malnourished anymore.
This toy is 18 years old and it's gold plastic is holding up. I don't really care to own him anymore and the tail is too flimsy for me to gift him to a child to play with. Is he worth anything to adult collectors?
>that paintjob
>>11860588Ugh... is this consistent? I was thinking of grabbing this.
>>11860595No
>>11860299I always liked that about it. It's probably only like that due to budget constraints but it creates a unique color scheme and retains a bit of Optimus identity.
>>11859274Oh OP is well aware. But he would rather just try and force a meme and/or have something to complain about instead.
>>11859240You know, I don't mind another G1 Red Alert, but it really feels like we're circling the drain. Am I asking to much that they at least add characters that are still missing toys before they go and redo the entire g1 cast?
>>11860723no. you'll get incrementally more accurate iterations of the same g1 characters forever and you'll LIKE IT
>>11860723I skipped out on pretty much most of siege so seeing the same faces again only better works fine for me. I haven't gotten a new Red Alert since Classics.
>>11860542>The old AB used for reference has additional stickers applied instead oof being stock That can't be good for promoting your new toy. Makes the new one look plain.
>>11860723>Am I asking to much that they at least add characters that are still missing toys before they go and redo the entire g1 cast?Like Nautica?
Interview with Nate and Evanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLlXUAoLKIMSounds like Armada Demolishor is getting released in Studio Series next year.Evan also says there's a combiner for 2027, which is odd because there was nothing in the leaked listings.
>>11860854>a combiner for 2027super secret Grand Convoy and Wing Saber...
>>11860854Cmon abominus, save me from aftermarket prices
Are there any decent 86 optimus KOs in yellow? Sort of like ML sentinel prime, I really liked the deco on him but couldnt justify the price at the time
>>11860854Wouldn’t it be Nexus Prime with his limbs?
>>11860899potp abominus is kinda dodgy anyways along with being a bitch to get even when it was new t. have it a new one with better individual terrorcons would be pretty rad
>>11860822not that anon, but...
We need a new Banzai-Tron
>>11860605Even this looks horrible
New Protectobots, just because I really like First Aid.
>>11860854>combiner for 2027Hope it's Ruination, but it'll probably be >>11861015
>>11861024My guess is that Ruination is either going to be Gen Selects or New Legends. I am curious if Takara is considering Battle Gaia for New Legends
>>11860723There's a good chunk of stuff either still missing, like most lf the Throttle bots, or being either bad repaints or I'll fitting retools.Like, yeah, do more G1, but try to finish things up before doing it all over.
>>11859295the airbrushed van altmode is so damn cool but i really hate his head design, it's like something straight out of a "how to draw transformers" book.
I like how we've yet to even acknowledge the Monster Jam stuff.
I REALLy want a new Sixshot (the Titan returns. One was a little bit smaller and also very hollow and rickety.) the thing is given the way budgets are I don’t even think regular commander class would do it. It would have to be in the same size and price point as that. BWII Galvatron.
>>11859491>the designers miss it too because of all the gift sets they’ve made full of potential Core Class toys,More likely they were designs they had sitting around since before the executive call was made to discontinue core class, so they're just trickling them out in other ways now.Smaller price points always have the slimmest profit margin, so it's not surprising Hasbro axed them. I'd wager that was always the motive behind untethering size from MSRP, like they first tried with ER Cliffjumper. They convinced people it was okay to buy a smaller figure at a deluxe price point because it came with some extra accessories. But now we don't even get the exta accessories, and deluxes are even more expensive.
I got the Nemesis in! She's a big bitch! Very tall, very wide. Cool toy.
>>11861255Anything else?
>>11861266Some Monsterarts and MotU figures, nothing else in the way of Transformers.
>>11861269I meant in terms of your assessment of Nemesis, but that works as well.
>>11860239>and wave Cardbots or third parties in their face as if they're all absolutely perfect 10/10 figures with no flaws because that's just not the case.Yes, this. I like Metal Cardbots and have bought a few. But it annoys me how there are fans who hold them up as being so superior to anything put out by Hasbro when they have their own share of flaws and QC issues.
>>11859765The way they're doing Nexus is like how they did a majority of the Primes aside from The Fallen, and to a lesser extend Liege, Alpha and Vector. A lot of creative freedoms. None of the original actual limb characters or very different designs for them. There's no way we don't get a frame but this isn't going to be Funpub Nexus.>>11859948With that thought process, two Onslaights too assuming they made the leg bots one of the Combaticons. This why why I don't think they seriously expect us to buy another Silverbolt or Onslaught to display Nexus. By the time all four limbs are out, Silverbolt and Onslaught will have been off the shelves for a year or more. Using those frames is only a temporary solution.
>>11861255Does anyone have experience with flight stands for her? seen a few around and curious, but they're often silly prices and no idea about sturdiness.
>>11860950Blokees could make one.
Talk about police brutalityPredapigPredacabPredonut
>>11861447>Police animal team has no pigMissed potential
>>11861386Not a bad idea, they are already kinda sorta making action masters.
>>11861454They could've easily retooled the bull into a warthog.
>>11861447Yeah yeah you have the right to remain silent, please exercise it
>>11861447This is insane. Where'd this repaint come from? I want to buy this because it reminds me of that Mcdonalds toy Panther. Which was actually supposed to be Prowl in concept art. (You can tell by the head and its probably why he has cop car and siren colors besides being a panther.) Ill just pretend its his upgrade.... if I could addord it lol
>>11861464
I wish Hasbro took a page out of Mattel and do a line if unproduced toys based in concept art (not just repaints.)
>>11860854>Sounds like Armada DemolishorHell yeah I was saying how much I wanted this recently. I hope he turns out good.
>>11861459Worthless deadbeat!
>>11861467What a shit idea, yeah have the evil robot dictator turn into a harmless endangered sea turtle. I'd rather him be a crocodile than that, at least those are scary.
>>11861478You just don't get it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RvL3TTqQjQ
>>11861479You're right, I don't>Megatron lays a clutch of eggs, only a small portion of the offspring survive nature's cruel game of chance
Will they ever do modern releases of Croco Megs and Optimus Bat?
>>11861485Didn't they do that a few years ago? Or was that just Optimus? Or am I remembering another timeline, I can never tell anymore.

I was genuinely shocked to see this is real.I know sensibilities are different in Japan, but it is so funny to me that they gave the police treatment to perhaps the most brutal and warlike design within Transformers lol. Most police bots in the franchise have some plausible deniability with their craziness...so many are super cars. Hey, maybe they just need to get to an emergency that much quicker. This guy though? Just think of all the hapless geewunn fans who bought the Siege "cybertronian" lambo mold, then went back and double-dipped on all the Earthrise retools, and now are going to open their wallets again for another lap. If we didn't have these gullible schlubs subsudizing Hasbro's existence through their commitment to repeatedly buying marginal improvements of the same character, we probably wouldn't be getting anything else.If Hasbro only made toys to appeal to real toy enthusaists, and not just childless, nostalgia-thirsty consoomers, they'd probably be out of business by now.

Hey /tfg/ I need your expertise for a second.I got a $5 Metalhawk missing a head a couple years ago. >>11862691>it's the same fucking Bumblebee head againI know Transformers One flopped but the issue wasn't Bee actually talking. It was casting Key as his voice.
>>11862691I’m surprised they made Magnus shorter than Prime. >>11862700It’s the design the general audience knows Bumblebee for, they’re going to keep using it until the end of time
>>11862715And that's only going to confuse normies on whether these movies are connected or not at a glance.
>>11862717I think your overestimating how much the general audience cares about continuity in movies, especially in Transformers movies
>>11862725Anon that's what I'm saying. Casual audiences will just glance & think they're all connected. Then they won't see it because they already got sick of Bayformers. Granted, RotB was horrible so it deserved to fail, but it failed because no one wants to see more Bayformers. They needed to be more streamlined like Transformers One tried but without the horrible marketing making it look like an Illumination movie.
>>11862691Why is Prime Knockout with the Autobots?
>>11862726I don't see what about Transformers ONE that is actually good besides its backdrops and occasional cinematograaphy. Everything about the movie screams generic, from the plot, general aesthetic, dialogue, the characters. The only thing I ever see when people talk about how seemingly good it is is when they talk about how the marketing was bad.NEWSFLASH. No amount of marketing could have made this mediocre movie cool for any 12 year old. Kids of today don't go to the theaters as much as the kids of 20 years ago and I don't think this would have convinced them either
>>11862727Because he's gay and that means he's not allowed to be a villain.
An entire movie that's animated like the opening of Bumblebee would be amazing. Also they need to tap into Japenese G1 but tone down the Gundamness a bit and pillage ideas like the Cybertronian Empire and the Star Raiders also transforming ships like Tidal Wave. Not everything has to be about Earth and Decepticons can also be anti-heroes instead of just the villains.
>>11862766I'd like more combiners/gattai/super robot stuff. I liked the Jetfire/Optimus bit in ROTF a lot, it was cool/
>>11862691Until they completely get rid of the Bayformer aesthetic it'll never be a full reboot. That shit needs to be fully left behind, has to be a fully clean slate.
>>11862757I saw it in theatres and it was alright but then it did the LOOK WE DID THE THING of Optimus Prime's TF Movie jump and even slowed down the scene so you could clap at them being so proud of themselves, it's all I could remember after it was over.
>>11862757You may be right about no amount of marketing being able to make it appeal to kids, but the initial trailers they put out for it were still shit. They played up the humor and Bumblebee being an annoying retard because they thought that's what kids would want to see and it gave all the adults the impression that it was dumb baby shit for babies. The actual tone is much more mature. Sure, there are jokes and Bumblebee is still annoying, but they don't disrupt the flow of the movie and help add a little levity to all the surprisingly dark shit that happens as the plot progresses. Great voice acting across the board too, especially considering they got Chris fucking Hemsworth to play Optimus.
Starscream pushed back again to August 11th.

>>11861981>>11862626there's no concept art of ROTB Scourge turning into a pirate ship, i've seen concept art where they were considering a cement mixing truck of all things. I think Cyberworld Scourge being a pirate ship is a direct response to Metal Cardbot's Black Hook character.

>>11862757>No amount of marketing could have made this mediocre movie cool for any 12 year old. What even IS cool to a 12 year old anymore? Everyone is desensitized to spectacle, and caring about plots/characters is "cringe". We've created a media landscape where nobody understands how to engage with media anymore, because it's all about the optics as opposed to enjoying something and/or having an actual opinion.>>11862815>The actual tone is much more mature.Eh. Apart from the scene where Megatron snaps and admits he wants to kill Sentinel Prime, it's pretty light.>Great voice acting across the board tooLMAO, fuck no, are you deaf? Every performance in that movie was rubbish apart from Steve Buscemi as Starscream. Modern voice acting is trash, all around, because they spend too much time hiring celebrities instead of people who actually know how to voice act. The bar has just been progressively lowered over the past 30 years.
>>11862934>BUT-BUT-Captain AMERICA was OPTIMUS UNGGGGGHHHH
>>11862934>Steve Buscemi as StarscreamHe was the only one in the cast that came close to being a "character actor", which is really the only kind of celebrity that can reliably voice act. Everyone else was just some marketable face that can read a line without sounding cringe. The problem is that voice acting is SUPPOSED to be cringe. You have to overact. You have to embrace melodrama. That's what makes so many of the lines from the 1986 Transformers movie iconic; it's not just the words, but how they're delivered. Some motherfucker really stood in that recording booth and bit off "Spare me this mockery of justice!" with his entire mouth, and it wasn't intended to be a joke.I remember when I was playing Transformers Devastation, it felt like almost everyone was phoning it in apart from Michael Bell; all of his lines were great, even down to his grunts and shouts. It's not surprising, either, as Michael Bell is probably the most "professional" VA out of that game's cast. Gregg Berger used to be a real pro , but I feel like he lost his ability to do Grimlock. Heck, even a lot of the Beast Wars cast has lost their spark, but these guys are all grandpas now, so I can't really blame them. I bet if you warmed them up and put them in a booth with a proper director, they'd still act circles around the likes of Chris fucking Hemsworth, though.
>>11862727He'll betray them to the Decepticons, of course.
>>11862940>Some motherfucker really stood in that recording booth and bit off "Spare me this mockery of justice!" with his entire mouth, and it wasn't intended to be a joke. And considering it was Wally Burr as voice director, you know he was saying that line over and over. Wally Burr's perfectionist attitude was INFAMOUS.
>>11862940>I remember when I was playing Transformers Devastation, it felt like almost everyone was phoning it in apart from Michael Bell; all of his lines were great, even down to his grunts and shouts.I think Frank Welker delivers some all timer Megatron lines during the final boss fight.

>>11863023Man, who signed off on the face of the Kingdom one.
>>11862940I loved all those weird assed Canadian Beast Wars voice actors and wish they all got in the movie. Or the movie was actually about BW.
>>11862995>Wally Burr as voice directorHaving a good director is an EXTREMELY important element of good voice acting. Even the best actors will get lazy if they're allowed to, which is probably what happened to most of the guys in Devastation. People love to admonish a perfectionist, but the proof is in the pudding, as they say. I can criticize the 1986 Transformers movie for a number of things, but the voice acting is not one of them. It is, quite effectively, perfect. And it's definitely Cullen's best performance as Prime, by a wide margin.>>11863028I recently re-watched Beast Wars with some friends, and one thing that has aged like a fine wine about that show is the voice acting. Everyone is chewing the scenery, and it's fantastic. A bunch of the best performances are just Scott McNeil talking to himself, but the rest of the cast are still pulling their weight.Like, there's a bit in season 2 where Primal is giving Silverbolt a lecture in his ready room, and both of them are completely locked in. They're selling this romantic fling between a robot bird-dog and a robot black widow without a hint of tongue in cheek. Primal ends the discussion by delivering the line "I'll send Cheetor to bring in the spider-woman" with a completely straight face. If it had been a modern show or movie, there would have been an awkward pause while Primal looked directly at the camera and says, "Wow, i can't believe I just said that!?? LOL SO RANDOM!" Beast Wars' writing wasn't ashamed of itself in the least, but what really helped sell that were the performances, for sure.
>>11863034>Primal ends the discussion by delivering the line "I'll send Cheetor to bring in the spider-woman" with a completely straight face. If it had been a modern show or movie, there would have been an awkward pause while Primal looked directly at the camera and says, "Wow, i can't believe I just said that!?? LOL SO RANDOM!"Irony is dead and sincerity is cringe. Nobody wants to commit the cardinal sin of trying too hard, so everything feels soulless and performative. Sadly, the impact of this goes beyond just acting.
>>11863034The voice acting and the actual character animation(as in, how the 3D models move, not necessarily the quality of the models themselves) is so great, hand in hand it goes a long way to making them feel like living characters. Like when a character gets frustrated, elated, or confused it’s so pleasing to watch because the body language is so good, and the robotic movements are emphasized. Like I love when a Character drops their head in frustration and their head sort of bounces a little, or when their shoulders slack it’s like the mechanics in their shoulders entirely give. I wish the later CGI series could pull off subtle things like that.
>>11863043>Irony is dead and sincerity is cringe. Nobody wants to commit the cardinal sin of trying too hard, so everything feels soulless and performative. Sadly, the impact of this goes beyond just acting.I think this has plagued Millennials mpre than anybody.
>>11863044Yeah, totally. You can definitely tell they were having a lot of fun with animating as they got more used to it. There was a delicate balance of which robot parts stayed solid and which were allowed to become rubbery. Along with all the sound effects, they really maintained the illusion that these were alien machines, while also maintaining the flexibility and expressiveness of a cartoon character.
>>11862691>ultra magletbooooooo
>>11863047Fuck off with this generational bullshit, if you really must there’s a whole demographic of “Millenial” men who are gatekept from any entertainment industry as is. Your average “Millenial” transformer fan isn’t the kind of person who’s given a head position on shows or movies.
>>11863047Quirk Chungus quipping was created by people like Josh Wheadon who are too old to even be considered Gen X. Millenials are only obsessed with it because they're overly nostalgic.
>>11862727I assume it’s a cross continuity reference to him switching sides at the end of Prime>>11862995My favorite Wally Burr anecdote is the fact that he (and a couple other voice directors) were one of the main reasons for the Voice Actor Strike of 1987, because at the time, the max session length was 8 hours, and Wally was infamous for using all of it for every session, so the strike resulted in the current 4 hour limit instead
>>11863059My favorite Wally Burr story is when Scatman Crothers, who apparently he was friendly with, called him when he had a flight back to town to tell him that he’s “back”, which Burr misheard as him saying “I’m black”>yes I know you’re black you crazy motherfucker, everyone knows that!”
Handling my crippled aotp Bruticus, I really feel that lack of butterfly joint. I normally don't care, but he really needs it to get a more natural pose for his helicopter blade attack. I also would have liked if the Bruticus head could tilt backward for a Guncannon esque firing pose.

This version can also technically do the four guns on the mane configuration using the mane gauntlets. This makes it even stranger this release only included 2.
>>11863558They basically confirmed it in an interview.
So who fucked up, Hasbro, Target, both?
>>11863306>>11863330>>11863334>This isn't a pulse exclusive and it will be on store shelves.According to Hasbro's official recap video of their SDCC reveal, this is an Amazon exclusive which means that no, it most likely won't be on standard retail store shelves. Hasbro probably had a limited number to put up on Pulse, but Amazon will be your best bet otherwise (or websites that will resell from Amazon). See this video for reference at around the 5:09 mark: https://youtu.be/7wWjAg-xjGE?si=WDbAjQefuNGWZZis&t=309
>>11863578Both. Hasbro's mistake was agreeing to have a highly anticipated mold of one of their top biggest characters be a Target exclusive, and Target's mistake was being so clueless about which exclusives will be appealing to fans that they didn't have nearly enough stock ready to go out on release day of Starscream (and this was after they absolutely flooded the shelves of their stores with Gamerverse Optimus Prime and Megatron repaints which were never going to sell big numbers for their previous MTMTE collection rollout).
>>11863306wait, he's a fucking leader?
>>11863585Hasbro agreed becausw they're going to double dip and sell him again with Coronation gear. They'll do it as another exclusive to fuck us over, but this release is just Hasbro getting their money's worth.
>titan class is now just a bigger figures with no base mode or possiblefan modesHow disappointing
>>11863573Just saw it, they did bring up a partial, so at least we'll have accurate toys for both. It's going to be hard not getting these.
>>11863502>glazing an actual dragon dildoI thought Nexus was the dildo?
>>11863588Why the fuck are we still buying these toysmaybe I have enough Starscreams for one lifetime
>>11863591Just wait it out, from what I remember, the last Dinobots are smaller, so they might go back to normal titans after 3 years of movie dinos. I do wish the next Titan was Overlord, him getting a release like Star Optimus would be ideal. Also, when the hell are we getting proper releases for a modern generations Godbomber and Ginrai/PM Prime?
>>11863588How does this benefit Hasbro? Instead of selling tons of SS86 Starscream figures across all retail stores before announcing a coronation DLC set to get fans to double dip, they'll only sell a few thousand at Target first by making it an exclusive. Plus, the SS Coronation set from the Earthrise mold shelfwarmed so hard that I was still seeing piles of them at Walmart almost two years later, so I'm not sure how smart it is to copy that plan. The only logic I could see here would be if maybe Hasbro thinks the coronation set's failure was due to too many people already having easy access to ER Starscream, instead of its failure being due to there only being relatively few fans willing to buy an entire duplicate of a voyager at leader scale prices just to get a few accessories and a purple chair. If they want a coronation set to work, they should have that be the first version of Starscream they sell. After all, there are plenty of other random seekers they can use as exclusives to milk that mold for years that'll sell better than a double dip, and the only cost to Hasbro would be picking out colors for a new deco.
Does anyone here have actual marketing experience and can explain what the fuck Hasbro is doing?
>>11863602What do you mean by what Hasbro is doing?
I just remembered that I still don't have my Liokaiser, when the hell is he turning up in the UK/Europe? Feels like ages since he appeared in the US.
>>11863599Because the exclusivity only applies in the United States and Hasbro let's Target get an exclusive without having to waste time and money making some repaint no one wants. And people will buy it, and they'll do it again once the next version comes out.>previous Coronation version shelfwarmedBecause the mold sucked? ER Starscream shelfwarmed as well, and I saw the seeker teo pack at target shelfwarm just as hard.
>>11862934>What even IS cool to a 12 year old anymore? Everyone is desensitized to spectacleThis is just cope boomerbabble repeated by people who are too arrogant and stupid to see anything beyond themselves and refuse to admit that they might be the problem. Anime is incredibly popular with that exact same generation you're complaining about being "desensitized to spectacle" so I have no idea where your bullshit is coming from. You know why bayformers was so popular? Because it had everything that young preteen boys were into. Hot women, crazy fights, giant robots, cool cars, military hardware etc. When you break it down into the fundamentals kids are usually always into the same stuff you just have to repackage it so it feels fresh and not tired out but Hasbro would rather churn out slop made to meet quotas than something with even a remotely distinct styleTransformers ONE's problem isn't even that it's "cringe" or whatever it's just painfully boring. and generic There's nothing in that movie that is even slightly memorable. People saying the movie is "surprisingly dark" come across as people who haven't watched more than like 5 movies.

Not surprising bayfag formers are so awful even their dinosaurs can't open/close jaws.
>>11863645They unironically fucked themselves over by trying to do the double head gimmick at the expense of everything else. At least the tail had an excuse, but they absolutely could have engineered the lower jaw to "shrink" more and connect naturally to the upper jaw to get some articulation. You can still cheat it, but it looks pretty awkward.

>>11863059>>11863074its also really funny when you realize the casting sheet for Jazz literally in Wally's writing, don't audition anyone else call Scatman for him. Fun Fact: both Scatman and Frank Welker as Megatron were the 2 casting choices considered on the casting sheets that actually ended up happening.
>>11863620>Anime is incredibly popular with that exact same generationAnime isn't popular for the spectacle. Anime is popular because its story and character concepts are unique, and most shows are loaded with fanservice. The animation in all of those shows could be fuckawful (and sometimes is) and people would still love them.Your average anime is full of attractive 2-D characters for boys and girls to crush on, character dynamics that are fresh appealing to a tween who is outgrowing Spongebob, and typically no shortage of skin on display. Transformers could have all the spectacle in the world and nobody would care because no 12-year-old is as interested in Optimus Prime or Bumblebee as they are a sexy tsundere schoolgirl with jiggly titties.
>>11863737This is how we can justify Mega Empress and the gang coming back.
>>11863737>Anime isn't popular for the spectacle. Anime is popular because its story and character concepts are uniqueTwo things can be true at once. Why do you think shonenshit has been so popular for the last 40 years?> attractive characters for boys and girls to crush on, character dynamics that are fresh appealing to a tween who is outgrowing Spongebob, and typically no shortage of skin on display.Literally bayformers (which is a good thing)
>>11863747>Why do you think shonenshit has been so popular for the last 40 years?Sequential storytelling, and tangible character growth. It was appealing to western kids to read a story where it felt like things actually changed and escalated, instead of resetting to a status quo after every episode. This is not only true for anime vs cartoons, but also in manga vs comics, where spectacle isn't even a factor. And, again: boobies.>Literally bayformersIf anything, Bayformers is exactly the reason we have a whole generation who thinks flashy CGI action sequences are cringe, or slop, or "key-jingling". The movies were so dumb and shallow, they sullied the concept of the artistic spectacle. It also doesn't really help that CGI was unironically better 20 years ago.
>>11863737>no 12-year-old is as interested in Optimus Prime or Bumblebee as they are a sexy tsundere schoolgirl with jiggly titties.Effectively this. Tweens like anime because it's not prudish like western shit has been forced to become. Simple as.

Here’s my “I’m not even collecting TFs right now” haul. All figures purchased on clearance bc no way in hell am I ever leaving a clearance priced Transformer behind
I was not expecting to enjoy Prima as much as I do. I’m slightly obsessed actually. His overall aesthetic is very strong and powerful. Even better after I modded him to be able to look down. My only gripe is the fact he has a motherfucking backward ab crunch. With not on but two swivels underneath it? Totally inexcusable that he dosent have a functional ab crunch.
Honestly, I think the reason Transformers is in a sort of lull right now is because it’s not really a priority series for either Hasbro or Takara at the moment. Hasbro is more focused on 6” lines like GI Joe Classifed or Marvel Legends while Takara is currently focusing on their model lines Tomica and Plarail
3 years ago when I found out I’m having a son I started buying up every Rescue Bot I found while thrifting. At this point I (we) have almost every single one but a handful of the most elusive ones. Well the other day I finally struck gold and found the holy grail of all Rescue Bots, transforming High Tide
>>11863813I unironically really want a Titan class update for High Tide, especially since he’s never really had a toy with his combining gimmick before
>>11863815He is cool as fuck and most definitely deserves a big boy figure.
Forgot about these guys. Looks like I lost a Geocron because I have 4. Hm. Does anyone like this Thundertron set? Not sure about keeping it. Seems kinda pointless in my collection, not sure. More than anything else it makes me feel like I am going to feel obligated to track down the rest of the rock lords
>>11863760Name one popular shonen anime that doesn't have a significant factor in spectacle.
>>11863773>If anything, Bayformers is exactly the reason we have a whole generation who thinks flashy CGI action sequences are cringe, or slop, or "key-jingling". The movies were so dumb and shallow, they sullied the conceptYou mean early millennials? because they're the only ones who actually think this. Most normal people do not care because they see bayformers for what it is and just have fun with it. If anyone sullied the reputation of CGI it was Disney with their low brow MCU/Star Wars slop. You can have whatever opinion you want on Michael Bay's Transformers but to say they sullied the reputation of CGI action sequences to anyone but fat whiny nerds is actually retarded
>>11863807I also liked Prima more than I expected to but it was only after getting an upgrade kit for him that I became obsessed.
>>11863602No but I asked my local Decepticon and they told me this
>>11863825>Does anyone like this Thundertron set?I had it but gave away Thundertron himself. I didn't like that figure much, the plastic felt kind of cheap in hand and the aesthetic didn't work for me.Still have the rock guy and the tape though, they're cool.

Apologies for the 3P spam but like I said, I'm a little obsessed with this toy.

It's sad when you can tell someone poured their heart and soul into a figure of a design made with express contempt for the toy designers only for it to get completely destroyed by a budget of some pocket lint and a paperclip
>>11864273Bayformers have more than just contempt for the toy dsigners.
>>11864229>The gap fillers have to be removed for transformation. It's crap.I just watched the transformation video. I didn't see any fillers get removsd.

Do I jump on G1 deluxe Prime? He's a bit more expensive than MSRP but I've rarely seen him in stock to begin with. My only decent Optimus is Siege, and I would have really wanted one with a trailer, is this one just somehow insanely fun? I can neither find Earthrise/Kingdom nor SS86 Prime here, let alone for sane prices
Babby Sixshot has enough pieces for there to be *three* baggies in his box
>>11864229>The gap fillers have to be removed for transformationThe big block that you can attach the null rays too does but the side pieces that fill in the abdomen can stay attached.
>>11859240Why cant hasbro find a way to compress the chest a bit, or at least make the limbs longer.. it looks silly to me
>>11864293I'm just going to say it. Most of the Bumblebee designs suck and aren't inspired at all. They're just greebled G1 designs but dumpier looking. Bumblebee himself ironically is the only good design and he doesn't fit the rest of them at allI vastly preferred the old bayformers aesthetic (specifically the first) because while they are ridiculously overdesigned, they all had distinct unique silhouettes so you could tell who was who and doing what. The "too much shit on the screen" thing wasn't an issue until the 2nd movie where they started reusing models
Anons who in the process of building Bruticus - how are you struggle with those prices?Especially eu-anons.I got Vortex last year for around 26EUR.I have no idea what is happening but>Brawl will cost you 60+ eur (ebay shipping-you cant find him in the open or in amazon)>Onslaugh is almost 200 eur (because of ebay shipping)There is a chance to get Blastoff for a "normal" price of around 30eur and Swindle is upcoming for 40 eur.But damn...this is one expensive transformer.PS:The weird part is - you can STILL buy Devastator limbs off amazon for the same prices...Why? there is still Mixmaster and other guys... but Bruticus parts became super expensive and hard to get
>>11864453The first three Bayverse movies all have generally pretty good designs imo, they all have distinct silhouettes, clear visual distinction between Autobots and Decepticons and most importantly VEHICLE KIBBLE. VEHICLE KIBBLE THAT MAKES SENSE! Like, despite how complicated they look at a glance they actually look like they could feasibly transform(with some exceptions). Second movie in particular has some of the most unique robot designs in the whole series. Around AOE and TLK is where they just genuinely gave up on making them look like transforming robots, but I still find myself appreciating the attempts to make them in toy form(Since they have to actually contend with the physical limitations of reality). BB movie designs are more of the same in terms of not really giving a shit about the transforming aspect of the characters, but they're at least attempt to look like they transform(even if theres no way the triple changers would have worked as retail toys)
If they ever release newly updated Fuzors, should they retool/redeco them into "Cyberverse Universe" counterparts?
Only now do I realize this is just two guys, I swear there were a bunch more used for wildlife
>>11864472I've just been preordering them from various places as they become available. No matter how many people complain about frameslop, combiners are never going to shelfwarm. You're better off just biting the bullet and getting them as soon as you can to avoid aftermarket prices.

Maybe it failed as a kids movie but I think adult fans are too cynical. You guys would hate Beast Wars and Armada if they came out today.
>>11864832I think the film could be improved with different voice actors and a simply cut to a couple Bumblebee scenes. Hiring regular actors to do voice acting is stupid and none of those voices fit. Powerglide is cool. Far from perfect, but quite serviceable, as per usual these days. I could nitpick his engineering to death but at least I have no QC issues. My only major complaint is how damn small he is. What an absolute manlet. Hes supposed to be the tallest Minibot but this figure might be the smallest one of them all. Dude who never had unicron trilogy toys here. I just got this bug in a lot and he's really cool. I like that they still gave him minicon ports and he's all tiny. I never liked the horizontal gattai gimmick of Energon I had no idea there was cool stuff like this hidden in there.

All week I was convinced. Not a doubt.I was planning on putting BW Megatron up too but not a chance of thatI think what'll have to happen is I wait for MP Blaster and hope somewhere along the way I can find a G1 Wheeljack and Ratchet and Red AlertThat should give me enough guys for another (comfortably) full shelf and move Beast Wars to their own space

When you factor in the strength of USD adjusted for inflation, a transformers deluxe action figure is over FIVE times more expensive than it was in 2011. This is more inflation than our grandparents experienced over the course of their entire lives
>>11866396I've stopped buying transformers almost entirely, I think I've gotten two this year. In 2011 I was picking up random movie figures once a week because they were only $12 and I could justify a small purchase like that. >>11865676>I never liked the horizontal gattai gimmick of Energon I had no idea there was cool stuff like this hidden in there. The horizontal gattai gimmick never was the primary gimmick of Energon, it was the Energon weapons that the Omnicons and Terrorcons came with (Your Insecticon is a part of the Terrorcons). Energon Weapons were made and littered with 5mm pegs and ports so that it can be combined and mixed and matched with other Energon Weapons as well as weapons that came with the normal bots that also conveniently are translucent just like the Energon Weapons for even more custom loadouts. They also had either Mini-Con pegs and ports so a Mini-Con can be slapped onto them or the Energon Weapons can be used as substitute for Mini-Cons instead. I'm afraid the internet misremembering and gaslighting themselves with the horizontal gattai gimmick made you miss out on a great toyline.
>>11866853Energon was kinda just loaded with gimmicksEveryone gets energon weaponsAutobots get PowerlinxDecepticons get Hyper Mode
>>11866822100%, yes. Those doors are planks hanging off the arm. They’re not going to have any independent movement. They’re part of the shoulder.
>>11866855It was celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary at the time so I'm not surprised they went all big. I do like that at the very least it is only 3 gimmicks and it's done in such a way that the toyline made its own story through those gimmicks if you wish to disassociate it from the anime. The Energon Weapons is a neutral gimmick and has since become Evergreen as a gimmick itself for Hasbro like with Cyberworld for example. Autobots get Powerlinx because of their belief's in working in unity and teamwork and the 'Til All Are One' motto. And the Decepticons have Hyper Modes because naturally they're power hungry and the type to keep that power to themselves so instead of combining and working together they get a neutered version of Mini-Cons flip out gimmick but without the Mini-Cons now that they have Energon Stars to fulfil that role instead.
>>11866855You also had Brute Mode for Landmine and Bulkhead, and Scramble City style combiners, and a Headmaster, which was also a Duocon and a combiner, and every toy still had Mini-Con ports.Energon is one of the most eclectic toylines Hasbro have ever done, second only to G1.

I don't really like how they achieved it by just stretching Kingdom Cyclonus' legs, or sacrificing the back of the vehicle mode though, it looks like he's got one of those slightly wonky-looking third party upgrade kit or something going on. I dunno, maybe if I didn't have the existing context of Kingdom Cyclonus' proportions he'd look less weird to me, I could still see myself warming up to him though.>>11866877He mistook Cyclonus for another bunny-eared lavender robot fellow
>>11866971>I don't really like how they achieved it by just stretching Kingdom Cyclonus' legs, or sacrificing the back of the vehicle mode though, it looks like he's got one of those slightly wonky-looking third party upgrade kit or something going onKek it looks like he got one of those incel leg-lengthening surgeries. His proportions look slightly off because his upper body didn't scale up with his legs so he has an uncanny look to him.His bluer shade of purple does look better than Kingdom's, closer to how he looked in the movie. Both face scupts are off in their own ways. Overall he looks pretty good and if I didn't have a Kingdom Cyc in good condition (no yellowing, somehow!) I would get him but he's not better *enough* to spend the money and "upgrade". Same with Red Alert in the OP pic actually, I actually think he looks better but again not better ENOUGH to justify getting and selling off my old one.The fact I only picked up the Kingdom versions of both Cyc and Red Alert just last year doesn't help.
