I've done that with numerous toys where an accessory slightly stretched the hand.I'm not sure how the peg is designed, so I dunno which part you should heat up. Usually heating the socket up and inserting the peg works. Like, really jam it in there while she's warmed up and twist it a bit to see if the flange grips the inside of the socket.
