Sanriobros... we won!
>>11874291another original theme down the drain
spongebob set has a disgusting amount of stickers
>I want a Jp3 set with Spino and characters from the movie! What a monkeys paw. I am genuinely disappointed. How can Lego put something out this shit?
>>11874339what's so wrong with it? just the fact that the spino aint molded?
>>11874342Mixing brick build dinos in with molded dinos is a genuinely terrible idea. They don't go together. At minimum they need molded heads, but it just looks terrible and doesn't go with the rest of the line. On top of that it's an awful build, probably the single worst looking brickbuilt dinosaur they've released. The rest of the set, such as it is, is also garbage. Speaking of garbage jp3 is a terrible movie, but it least has a few locations that would make for very compelling sets. The overgrown hatchery lab with all the cloning equipment tanks and egg incubators with raptors would look awesome, as would an aviary set with some tall rock structure builds and a couple catwalks bridges and cages connecting them with a couple baby pteranodons and a big one with walkable jointed wings and billy with a glider would be absolutely kino. But instead we got this.
>>11874339I'm out of touch didn't even know those vegetation pieces were a thing
>>11874296The amount of idiotic cat-themed molds this theme created is rage inducing considering how mold stingy Lego usually is

You know what? The Pokemon polybags aren't half bad. I can see the bottom half of the smaller balls being used for a missile pod, or searchlight, he middle piece I can't see being much besides a robot's cycloptic head (see zaku), and I am enjoying all the new curved parts. As far as the new grass tufts go they don't feel like lego, but I can see a lot of uses for hair.

>Lego has their own futuristic version of JTTW>They cancel it for Dragon Ball ZHmm...>>11874506 #I'm not. I like Sonic and I'm upset we never get more minifigures. Lego are ditching the furries for the weebs.
Here are your toys and franchises for kids, lil bro.
>>11874560>we will never get another Crossworlds set with Blaze and Rouge minifigsFeels pretty bad, man.
>>11874573It bothers me they never made an official Omega build (there's a dozen fanmade ones but I can't be bothered to bricklink the parts) to complete Team Dark and Blaze to go with Silver.>RougeIt's strange that Rouge was the only minifigure to never get a rerelease. I'm not saying it's because of the porn, but it's because of the porn. Same reason why Lego never made an Ankha figure despite how popular she is online.

I have a dilemma. Bought some big Lego sets like 10 years ago to resell em, but never got around to it. I realized shipping big sets is kind a pain in the ass so now I'm wondering if I should just open them up. The chima mammoth and some city arctic research base.
>>11874684all things have valuesell thing, get money.will the new thing you get, with that money, be more valuable than the thing you sold?if you want the Lego set back at some point, how much of a hassle would it be? could you even do that? (probably?)
>>11874731I dunno, just thinking how the Chima mammoth is probably all brittle brown puts me off. The Arctic base mite b cool to build.

>>11874788Just like be rich
>>11874788>instantly uninterested, because they'll make everyone, but make it bitch to get it allthey did that exact thing to One Piece:Luffy WEARING the hat, locked into $140+ set. they finally make a set with Luffy hat/hair in a $60 set (the lowest entry point for hat/hair) but in that set Luffy has situational facial expressions. you still need to get ANOTHER Luffy set to get a kinda-neutral Luffy minifig.they did the same thing with Chopper. sure he's in a $30 set, but his expressions are not neutral, forcing you to get the $100 set to get the better Chopper.it's almost unbelievable how insanely frustrating Lego's choices are with the One Piece sets. I want to Chopper-cry.>>11874799>Just like be richyep. I wish there was some kind of metric I could supply to Lego about WHY I'm NOT spending my money on their sets.

>>11875190Unfortunately, yes.
>>11875190It's really hard for me to imagine there's much overlap between people who love sneaker/basketball culture and people who would buy expensive lego sets. But they keep making these so maybe I'm wrong.

>>11875270>KeepleyI'm not familiar with this piece of Lego lore.
>>11874291animal crossing died for this
Tell me about a set or figure you paid extra to get? For me it's the Wizard of Oz characters. Had the Wicked Witch but didn't even realize they made Dorothy, Lion, Tinman, and Scarecrow. Its just bizarre that they were part of the Lego Movie CMF 2. Like the only licensed figures in that series. Also there's no fucking way I can justify a classic set. Was looking at the tone Johnny Thunder Aztec/Jungle set thet I had as a kid. Its going for $400. Pass.
>>11874281What if the remake of this set were just rumours or a troll post and then LEGO noticed the traction and anticipation it got and decided to actually start producing the set out of schedule, resulting the release date being pushed back every time?
>>11875254Not really. If you look at other brands that use prints, it's obvious that LEGO is just scamming us. Lumibricks has a modular building set that cost less than a lego modular, is the same size and has 30+ prints. I give lego a pass on using stickers in playsets, but display slop collector sets that are usually $100+ should only include prints.
I lose my part really often these days. But I get this message when I request a part. is maximum order quantity a monthly limit or life time limit?
>>11875361
>>11875292>animal crossing died for thiswhy do people think this?"no Castle because muh Harry Potter instead""no Space Police 4 due to Star Wars having space ships"etc...it's the type of logic that sounds reasonable, but Lego has the capability to do more than a few sets, at this point.if Lego wanted to do more Animal Crossing, they would (that one designer guy who pushed for it already covered their personal favorite characters, so that's all. they even did the Unicorn Gut twice.)
>>11875344I'm convinced they would use stickers for minifigs if prints hadn't been the standard since 1979.
Nigga Heil Hitler
>>11875333Happens a lot because a lot of cool figure pieces are from CMFs from years ago. So dropping $50 for one single Roman legionnaire is common.
>>11875190I'm thinking of shoplifting it
>>11874822>Luffy WEARING the hat, locked into $140+ setIs it really that much of a problem in this case? The Going Merry was fantastic, easily the best of the line, and included all the crewmates from East Blue. If someone is fan of One Piece and Lego that's the set they should buy first and foremost anyways. After all this is not a case of the main build being some place that only appears in a couple of episodes, it can't get any more emblematic than the Strawhats ship. Better save and get that one instead of a shitty small set just for the minifigure, the money is better spent that way.

>>11875361Are you that fag constantly abusing the system to get free minifig parts? If so, LOL and get fucked.

My Sonic ideas set had like half of it's chaos emeralds (gem pieces) be red and blue and i wasn't able to finish the set without reaching into my stash. Was i supposed to contact Lego and ask for replacements?I never had anything like this happen so i have no idea how this works.
>>11875391damn dat golden hair pieceis it really worth $500 tho?good job, Lego. make one exclusive color part in a gazillion-dollar set limited-time-offer. if you ever see a MOC with that hair piece, you know they EARNED it

>>11875550>no trainer minifigs or minifig-scale molded Pokemon. easy pass?
>>11875554oh yeah, sorry.I meant "like, affordable."obviously if you have a million dollars, everything is available to you. and that's all Lego cares about. you can't blame them, I'd rather settle one $1000 Star Wars set than have to try and sell a hundred $10 sets. doing that once seems possible, but how about ten of those $1000 sets vs a thousand $10 sets? if they sell 5000 of the $1000 sets, they have to sell half a million $10 sets to compete with that. now it seems ridiculous to even think about selling $10 Pokemon trainer sets. we should be lucky it's --only-- $300(meanwhile Dreamzzzzz does it casually)
>>11875439what's wrong with the Black Pearl name that Lego had to censor it?
>>11875550>not for childrenyou aren't a child

>>11875609>The Going Merry set was pretty damn good and $140exactly. the entry point is $140. you say that as if $140 is not that much. good for you.but... that's the minimum Lego expects you to spend.sorry that still seems a little too high of a price for me. and probably a few other people. I already know I don't matter to Lego. I've come to peace with it. Lego expects ME to chase THEM. Lego has enough dollars. they don't need my dollars. that's a -good problem- for Lego. they are no longer interested in gaining customers, they are now interested in maximizing the cash from the customers willing to throw cash at them. if I want it, I need to step up and afford it. that's MY problem, not Lego's problem.YOU spent $140 on the ship. if it was only $90 for the ship, you would have still bought it, and saved $50. as would everyone else. Lego wants those $50. and... they got it.

I've been comparing the smart play sets to the Mario sets and watching my kids play with both, and it's kind of crazy how many obvious shortcomings there with smart play at least in respect to how my kids play>Mario figures are more responsive and fun to play around with, react pretty accurately to being tapped around to make their walking and jumping noises, react to different colors etc, and the LED eyes are pretty charming. Smart play stuff is oversensitive and doesn't give the impression it is reacting to your play much. >Lego Mario is loaded with a bunch of iconic sounds and music vs. the nasty synthesized sounds >The play features that are supposed to set smart play apart are way underutilized. The little "find Pikachu" game is the only circumstance I was kind of impressed by the design and it wasn't just "touch the brick to a tag" which is essentially the same shit as Mario.>The flying and driving noises that are supposed to react to speed have been really inconsistent >I thought a unique draw would be that smart play Pokemon would interact with each other, but it doesn't really seem like they do unless you get them to battle. My kids don't give a shit about the battle feature, it's too abstract in implementation and they don't get it>I haven't had to replace any Mario figure batteries yet with hours and hours of play, smart brick drains crazy fast. Like losing juice in 20 minutes fast>Pricing of Lego Mario stuff is definitely a little betterHas anyone else picked these up for their kids? The builds are actually really cute, but so much of the smart brick stuff just seems so questionable in implementation. I love the concept but I really hope they go back to the drawing board and refine it instead of doubling down on this.

>>11875344The annoying thing is that lego can totally do print only playsets, just look at the old Mario and Animal Crossing sets as none of them have any stickers.>>11875389Honestly I have no idea what that other anons problem is. The Going Merry is a perfect set for fans and is pretty well priced for the 5 main characters and a decent re-creation of an iconic vessel. As a big One Piece fan it's still the only set I've bothered to get, though I'll probably grab the Marine ship and a cheap set with Chopper once the discounts hit.
>>11875708Best cmf fig we had in a very long while

>>11875514I regret that my dark age was during this time. Alien Conquest goes hard
Counting down the days until Brickwarriors releases their Mark V armor
>>11876015>Honestly I have no idea what that other anons problem is.it's basically that high (for me only, I guess) price, and the fact that Lego manipulates you into having no other options for a lower price, not even for the main character of the show.for example, did you notice Chopper's head expression in the $30 set is not as neutral as the $110 castle? sure you can kinda get a Chopper, but you really need to spend that $110 to get the better one. that's serious cruel tactics by Lego. yeah there's a hundred reasons to buy the hundred dollar+ set. it's got other stuff. muh bricks, muh "value". but all you wanted, now, was a Chopper for your Going Merry. and that's $110. no other option.it's cool if you think $250 is "not terrible" I can't blame Lego for doing it. I mean, YOU didn't think there was anything wrong, and happily spent dat money.
>>11876128There are plenty of shit things that Lego does that are worth complaining about, but hilariously, this is one of the few that isn't. If you absolutely, positively HAD to get one OP set, you'd probably want to get the ship, and it just so happens to come with just about everyone you'd want it to, at least in terms of what they did with the first OP wave. They could have done something shitty like make the Going Merry a $350 blackbox displayslop set with like two more minifigures, or they could have taken those five and broken them up and spread them across four or five $20, $30, $40 smaller sets so that in the end you'd probably be paying what you're already paying for the Going Merry right now. And you wouldn't even have the ship, you'd just have handfuls of random parts you'd dump in a bin.Lego isn't going to put the entire cast of a franchise in a $10 battle pack. I don't think it is fair to give people grief over being a poorfag, but your constant whining is pretty pitiful and cringy. The fucking ship is even like 30% off everywhere right now. This is the wrong fucking hobby to be in if $100 is some kind of price that may as well be in the stratosphere for you.

>>11876143>they could have taken those five and broken them up and spread them across four or five $20, $30, $40 smaller setsLego first released the classic Batmobile in a set that was obviously many sets bought at once. they later gave an option for just the car like people wanted in the first place>>11876143>This is the wrong fucking hobby to be in if $100 is some kind of price that may as well be in the stratosphere for you.I'm just tired, so tired, of EVERY thing Lego does is $X00. you KNOW Lego could have designed the Going Merry to be a little smaller, it would have looked almost the same, and it could have been like... $90. the fact that Lego does a basketball-sized Pokeball just to include trainer Minifigs and molded Pikachu at $300 is like a slap in the face (or... wallet) to fansthere is literally no reason Lego cannot do Link and Zelda in a $5 polybag. with a tiny landscape build with the Master Sword stuck in the ground. Lego does $5 polybags all the time, with two minifgs and a tiny build. Why not Link & Zelda? the answer is an obvious "DUH! who would buy a $300 tree if the figures are only $5?!!!" nobody would enjoy muh-tree build, and option for the tree instead of the simple polybag. How has Lego not even done a polybag with a Star Trek "Red Shirt Guy" yet? because they want to sell $400 ships, gosh!>>11876143>but your constant whining is pretty pitiful and cringy.yes, I'll agree with you there. it's humiliating for me to cry about it. please Lego, please be nice to me. I'm so poor. please. just one Trek figure. [falls into a heap on the floor in tears]my option to not buy sets is invisible to Lego. my only other option is to cry and hope that the conspiracy theory is correct, this board is being monitored and manipulated by Lego Employees, and one of those will take pity on me. and I'm aware that constant crying can start working against you at some point. so....anyway hope you enjoy'd the blog post and thanks for letting me vent
>>11875944These sets were a mistake
>>11876177They were definitely ugly but eh
>>11876179They were extremely low effort and made almost entirely of specialized, unreusable pieces in ugly colors
>>11874610isnt there more porn of amy? I am pretty sure its due to cleavage being a prominent part of her design which lego seems to be scared of doing cleavage for some reason, it's been removed from every character that had it before like leia and aayla from lsw (also looks really weird since they still put the area the cleavage should be but get rid of the detail so it looks like they got their tits sanded off)
>>11876183Get help
its mainly the licenses that are bumping the price up heck theres probably also rules that pieces made for that license cant be used on other sets so that will bump the price up too
>>11876168100% agree. Was just talking about this with my friend. Back in the day if you wanted a dragon, you could just buy the $10 dragon set that came with a badass minfig or if you wanted the wizard you buy the little set with the wizard and a little cart. It was easy to convince your parents to buy it since they were usually < $10. They even had a boxes with minifig themes, if you wanted some castle dudes you just buy a set that was just 4-5 minifigs, same with pirates.
>>11876181which was in style at the time of the early 2000's it really puts into perspective how much money lego was burning when they nearly went bankrupt in the same era where star wars, harry potter, and bionicle were firing in all cylinders
>>11876212Did you have a point?
>>11876196Lego hasn't regularly done stuff like this in almost 30 years, but it was way different back then when there were no licenses, and it was a pack of generic guys that were meant to populate your castle/pirate ship/space base. At this point in time, Lego sees a single minifigure as being "worth" what one of these entire figure packs used to go for.
>>11876220explain polybags though?
>>11876246polybags are, for Lego, a type of loss-leader. like when a dealer gives you a hit for free, in order to addict you.it's very rare for Lego to "give up the goods" in an amazingly sweet sweet polybag. it's usually something Lego doesn't really care much about. but I can't say never. they've done a few amazing ones.I truly wonder if Lego did a polybag with 1 Rebel Trooper and 1 Stormtrooper... with a few grey bricks for something-something... how crazy that would sell out and become a legend among the whole Lego community. it would be one guy per store with a full shopping cart of 'em. everywhere. it would be so hilariously epic
>>11876100>compatible with galidor for some reasonBecause it's a system!
>>11876177>>11876181They are the best sauropods that Lego has ever released.
So I was thinking of selling this lot as is, but after finding these Imma try find all the parts for the set. Never had any life on mars sets as a kid and I wanna try out the tube transportation gimmick.
>>11876330>I wanna try out the tube transportation gimmick. It's more fun than I expected desu, the pump and tube pieces are surprisingly cheap so I want to add a few more to make a Mars subway station at some point.
>>11876168>Lego could have designed the Going Merry to be a little smaller, it would have looked almost the same, and it could have been like... $90They already had to sacrifice the upper room to make the set smaller, make it even smaller and the kitchen and cabin would be too small to even be usable. So no, it can't be smaller if you actually care about having some interior rooms in the ship, and plenty of people totally do. Lego prices are insane but if you start compromising everything to save 50 bucks what you end up with is something that doesn't deserve a single cent out of my pocket.

>>11876932oh no!anyway
AHHHHHHHH WHERE ARE THE NEW CASTLE SETS LEGO???
>>11876950potter
>>11876950Lego doesn't give a shit about castle, sadly. It has unironically been confirmed that the Sea Serpent GWP is the only castle set for 2026. And so far, it sounds like the only "castle" set for next year is a dumb crane-claw arcade game that uses the vintage yellow castle as a base.
>>11876950I'm a little surprised we don't have licensed song of ice and fire sets yet, seems like some logical crossover in interest there
>>11876980Your reddit pop-culture tumour has enjoyed its fifteen minutes of fame, I suggest you resign yourself to its ongoing, if initially long-overdue, irrelevance.
>>11877010A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was massively popular and critically acclaimed and will get a season a year for the foreseeable future, better find a way to cope with it
>>11876791
>>11876980I'd be very surprised if they did it. GoT is full of nudity, sex, rape, extreme violence, extreme gore, torture, mutilation, etc. It's not at all appropriate for children. I know Lego isn't for children anymore but they still have to maintain their standards. Stuff like Star Wars is violent but still okay because the violence is very sanitised. You don't see closeups of randos on Alderaan having their flesh vaporised.
>>11876837https://youtu.be/A0suQH_ZoVA?is=OEzTMw_Nh_Y5HUHCThis set always makes me think of this.

>>11877092>>the only way you can actually get a Punisher minifig is if you buy the giant ass daily bugle setthat Punisher is in a set based on comic books, not MCU, so it's not even the real (heh) Punisher from the movie. if you use that Punisher it's basically a MOC using very close pieces that match.did they consider Punisher to be a spoiler? Lego didn't put the other character (which is kinda a spoiler, or... it would have been) in any sets either... but...they kinda DID put [spoiler character] in a set! Lego even figured out how to do that thing, where they replace the red-haired character in a franchise with diversity-casting. Lego stepped right over the movie, and did it themselves in the set. hilariously brilliant, honestly. because it works in the context of the movie itself.

Tried my hand at an updated Sam Sinister to go with JT. It was tricky because unlike Johnny there are no direct analogues of his torso prints, so instead I decided to try evoke the general feel of his later Orient Expedition appearance
>>11877955>>Rogue locked away to one shit setRoooozh the Bat is such a mess.- name is Rouge, yet she's the "rogue" type of independent sneak. clearly her name was supposed to be Rogue but due to a typo they had to double-down and "nuh-uh, that's what we meant to say" ever since. everyone else has simple, trait-specific names. Knuckles, Tails, Sonic. ROGUE. "Rouge" is completely off-brand- she's a bat, but has like um... bat wings. along with arms. shouldn't the arms be wings?- comedy bits have three things. I don't know if I have a third thing for her. but those first two are lame enough, right?>>11877955>It didn't have to end like this.I agree about the lame-ness of having her in only one set. I thought for sure they'd do some kind of $120 set and make me super-regret passing on her in a much lower-priced set. they already have the mold made, why not just make some more and toss her in another set? most of the work is already done.
>>11877965dats coolnot sure if you need that shoulder bag. looks like it bumps on the coat tails. I don't think you need the coat tails, either, so you could maybe keep the bag and lose the skirt. Jean Grey's participation was known even before filming began, but sony tried so hard to pretend it was a spoiler. Do you guys think the sheer accumulated amount of Lego on the aftermarket is affecting Lego's business strategy? Besides buying Bricklink, I mean. For example, if I want just some plain basic bricks like they had in the old days, I can buy some second hand for pretty cheap, and the 90s bricks would be higher quality than new ones too. So they sell other new things or try to sell to other customers who aren't autistic manchildren who will snipe boxes of old Lego as soon as they pop up on Facebook Marketplace. Their classic brick boxes now must have a whole bunch of new colours and new specific parts that there aren't a gorillion of floating around already. They will sell City sets still because they appeal to kids, who don't know they could buy a whole bunch of old Cityslop for better value or won't have enough saved up to buy bulk. They sell Object From The Latest Popular Normie IP But Lego because normies may be vaguely aware that there is a Lego aftermarket but they don't want to buy the OLD DIRTY thing, they have to buy the NEW thing with the SHINY LOGO. They throw a bone to us occasionally too, one or two CMFs per series will be sought by classicfags and there are nostalgiabait sets.TL;DR they branch out into a broader market and constantly shift into new kinds of products partly because if they don't then they're competing against their own already sold products.
>>11878317Same here. Still have all the pieces of the original but they're used in other things I built when I was a kid, so being able to get a new version for display was great.
>>11878512Let me guess, you like Castlevania.

I'm going to buy arctic base, arctic science truck and arctic ice breaker sets today. What am i in for?
>>11878512>Do you guys think the sheer accumulated amount of Lego on the aftermarket is affecting Lego's business strategy?meh, there probably is some kind of loss there, but it can't be as much as rip-off "compatible with leading brands" brick companies do to them, either.there's probably some kind of similar natural revulsion to OLD DIRTY bricks the same as NOT GENUINE LEGO, but some people are fine with old brick and off-brands. not enough for Lego to care about 'em.it used to be you'd collect a ton of bricks over the years, and eventually you can build yourself a massive Eiffel Tower. now Lego skips all that mess and just sells you the huge thing in one go. the problem is people don't ever think to build huge things by themselves anymore...
>>11878512Not really. This would be like saying that car manufacturers are competing with their old stock at used car lots. The thing is yeah you can buy second hand lego but its usually a hassel, can have a bunch of stuff mixed in, what you see is what you get, and have to come up with a build yourself. Lego can still put out new sets with no worry because eventually even the sturdiest block will break or get lost and need replacement.
>>11878530>people don't ever think to build huge things by themselves anymore...That's the result of technology overstimulation. Your average Joe is too overstimulated by social media to come up with their own ideas and who needs to think of new ideas for MOC when you have Chatgpt to come with ideas instead of you and Lego literally sell you MOCs ?Lego original purpose was selling buildable bricks to be played with, now it's all about FOMO. Normies would spent 300 bucks on some huge ass black box with brand name just so they can show they're affiliated with X brand.I really think people who actually build with Legos and make MOCs has become minority of Lego community. That's why your average Lego influencers loves barging about how much money they spent on their collection
>>11878549Lego isn't about being creative anymore, it has become another "buy this huge chunk of plastic because it has your favorite name brand on it"Same crap with funkos

Took me going to like 6 different stores but I finally snagged the Mighty Machines sets. They weren't out on the shelves yet so the dude came out with a box of them and I just decided to grab them and scan them later rather than make him stand there awkwardly. It worked out though because there's exactly 2 of each in the box, so I'll probably just keep them all. Talked to another dude at the local Lego Store and he said when they first got them in they were gone by 10 AM. Given how hard it has been to find them either scalpers are going insane or they are very popular. I hope this means there will be a Series 2.

Yes, boionicle brought in a lot of revenue and profit because it wasn't licensed, and the profit from Star Wars sets wasn't as big, but they sold the shit out of Lego Star Wars, probably 10x as much. >Source: I saw it in a dream
>>11883270A very brave opinion to venture on a dead thread, I'm sure.Anyway, they're still effectively the same bloodline. Just as there'd be no Bionicle without Slizers, without Bionicle Slizers would have had the same significance as Znap or Galidor.
>>11883279They're basically just nostalgia relics are this point. Like the coolest thing is "buildable figure" but they're part of what I hate about modern Lego that you need this big epic cartoon or media tie in to understand why Bionicle are the way they are. Its why I hate ninjago, besides it killing classic Japanese Castle from ever coming back.
>>11883361Well I personally think the worst part about nigfago is the disgusting goldblarf and the general power rangers kitchen sink horseshit, but that is also true. Take, for example, something like Exo-Force: I only ever had the barest minimum idea of what it was fucking about, but the sets were still cool. Bionicle in its early (and I do mean early) years had the same thing going where you could just be wowed by it in the catalogue without needing the supplemental material to care, but it went up its own arse hard, and naturally the modern "fanbase" and/or cargo cult of troons is much more interested in that latter part.

>>11881631Crunch could get a bigfig, A Dr Cortex minifig would be GOAT
>>11883490Shut the fuck up, faggot.
>>11883446They have so many alternatives and they still choose the absolute worst option. Pray this color dies the death it deserves eventually.
>>11883270But… I saw a YouTube video that said Lego would have suicided if Bonkle didn’t sell billions…
bros....the other lego thread is mogging us both in post speed and image bump....
