Citytron is taking a hiatus because frankly Castle eats up a lot more table space.
Anyway, this is all rather preliminary so far, need to dig up a few more baseplates and obviously actually blend the terrain between them better.

Posting here mainly to vent.
>inb4 lego star wars minifig fag
>inb4 aftermarket faggotry

Yesterday i was browsing facebook marketplace and I found the set 75211 for 35$ but it didnt have 3 minifigs.

For those who dont know, 75211 is a tie fighter set with 4 minifigs and is the only lego SW set to have featured the mimban stormtrooper see pic related. This Minifig alone costs 100$ minimum even if it has torso cracks or is yellowed. This lego set is infamously expensive. a complete set used usually goes for about 160$ USD. Its one of those sets that has a few exclusive minifigs that people go crazy for.

I message the guy and I ask him if he could find the other minifigs and he agrees to sell the complete set for 65$. He finds them all, he didnt include them all in the listing because "He couldn't be bothered to find them all". He obviously didnt know what he had on his hands. I made the mistake of asking to buy some more minifigs but not agreeing on a price before hand. I figured I could probably offer 10$ per fig and he'd be happy to sell.

When I got there I met him and his meatball wife. This woman looked like an inflated ball. imagine one of those big blow up see through hamster balls you can run around but its covered in lard and flesh. I smiled and said hello how are you to her, trying to be courteous but she just glared at me and walked away in silence.

Then the guy reneges on the deal. My last message to him was at 3:30pm and i got to his house at 4pm and he unfortunately searched it up before my arrival. It could have been my eagerness to buy it fast that gave it away but I'm convinced his pet meatball twisted his nutsack into breaking the deal and charging more. I should have just walked away then and there for breaking the deal (which he was MORE than happy to take before he searched everything up) but I figured he would just take down the listing and charge market value or slightly under and this was still my best chance at getting a decent price.
>>
>>11868839
Not to go on a tangent here, and this relates more to Bricklink, but those listings that are
>100% complete
>no minifigures
really fucking piss me off. Like, fuck you, nigger, we all know exactly what you did, you scalping fuck.
>>
>>11868371
>is it just a partnership with some chinese bootlego brand?
Presumably but I haven't seen anything else use the same molds, except the South African Woolworths funnily enough who did the same thing.
Turns out in current year making little plastic bricks is cheap as fuck and Lego is just scamming us. Also helps when they have a bazillion dollars in supermarket chain revenue and can eat the scaling costs because the bean counters figured it increases their sales by 3%.

anyways I ask him how much for the complete set and he goes into deep contemplation, squinting his eyes clenching his jaws and finally says 120$. I buy it cuz thats still a good price esp since its all in perfect condition. Its not a terrible deal considering the fact that its retail price was 72$usd in my area after tax but it was still more than I would have been willing to pay.

Anyways, now that I have the complete set in hand, I'm beginning to like the tie fighter a lot more than the stormtrooper. As much as I despise the lego aftermarket, I might have to become a shitty fucking reseller and sell the minifigs for more than I purchased the to recoup the loss. I might make a small mimban MOC to commemorate having the minifig.

Anyways feel free to laugh at me. I've been wanting to have the stupid mimban trooper since I saw him on screen in the solo movie (not a great movie but it had some good moments) and now that I got him Im disappointed lmao.
>>
>>11868845
Ik exactly what you mean, sometimes tho the scalpers fuck up and you can get a really cool "side build" for cheap. I saw some idiots selling the at-te by itself no figs for 50$ lmao

Well I would criticize your taste for pretending yidsney fanfiction exists in the first place, but I'm not entirely above paying out the ass for a specific fig. I bought a couple of sealed Revans for $20 apiece, which at the time seemed like a lot. Of course, they run around $400 now, so even if I keep the one that I opened for continued personal use I'm still coming out way ahead.
>>
>>11868865
Uuoooohhh ToT
>>
>>11868869
darth revan is a pretty cool fig. The most I can justify paying for a minifigure is around 35-40$USD which is how much a custom pad printed figure usually runs.

most of the stuff yidsney has put out is pure slop by and large. sequels are terrible, mandalorian has a few cool episodes but is mostly trash. Ahsoka, kenobi, bad batch, skeleton crew etc are terrible to mid. mando movie and solo are both pretty mid.

however rogue one and the andor tv show are peak. I rank them higher than the og trilogy desu.
>>
>>11868855
Sucks. I have had several negative fb marketplace experiences along the same lines. Bait and switch motherfuckers.
>don’t worry bro the box is complete
I don’t know what’s worse the seller or the buyer.
>>
>>11868874
>>11868855
>that’ll be $70 for a side build
>>
>>11868875
man that zelda set was really expensive. facebook marketplace can defn be fairly hit or miss lmao but I've found it to be far superior to eBay or bricklink. Ebay is filled with scammers and deluded scalpers. also shipping fees are regularly 20$+ usually 40$.

Some highlights for me:
1. Sealed 2x 327th battlepack for 20$cad each (retail value each is 56$ each after tax)
2. pre built tie bomber all pieces and minifigs for 25$ (retails for 100$cad after tax)
3. Sealed death/night trooper battle pack, capn rex microfighter and siege of mandalore for 20$ (retail value total about 80$ after tax)
4. sealed at-rt attack for 20$ (67$cad after tax)

I've purchased quite a few smaller lego sets for more than half off on marketplace. I've bought them from single moms/dads who Im convinced work retail and just steal some of the smaller stuff and pawn it off on marketplace. I've also got quite a few sets from arabic kids who defn work retail too. I try to avoid the people who put bricklink terminology in their description because they tend to know what they have. You unfortunately cant find bigger sets or anything valued over 80$cad cuz corporate has tighter control over it.
>>
>>11868885
I scored one of the 3-1 castles for $30 off marketplace so I can’t complain too much but I’m convince fb algorithm hides any decent deals from me now because all the listings I see are garbage and have been for a long time.

Ausbros where the hell do I get the Series 29 CMFs? Every Big W and Kmart I've checked doesn't have them, also colesworth. I found the animal costume series in one today, that's it. Are they locked up away from the rest of the Lego because of shoplifting or something?
Or do I just have to bite the bullet and pay scalper prices?

The last time I saw a cmf line in a walmart or other retail location was back in september when they released the dnd cmf. Check specialty hobby stores, the ones with lots of anime statues/comic book action figures and other toys of that nature. They might have a box of 20 at the cash registers. Thats where I found mine. You should be able to find them at the lego stores but if not you might be too late. which ones are you looking to buy? I managed to get an elf princess, 3 monster hunters and the bionicle cosplayer

A closer look at the castle figs. An odd bunch. One crusader and falcon are missing from the sets (or just their bodies) according to the boxes/instructions, but there are some more from other sets. There was at least one Dragon Masters set as evidenced by part of Majisto, the two capes, and the legs (did those capes come with spares in the sets?). Three forestmen hats and some extra quivers, but the wearers have vanished. Also a Wolfpack shield, but no other trace of them here. Also seems to be parts of an extra black knight or two based off the cuirass torsos, shield, and grey breastplates. A few more horses than the instructions would suggest as well.
The metallic torso prints are in fantastic condition considering they've been played with by two or three generations. 6062 has 4 stone wall panels, yet here there are 9. Not sure what the missing set could be, none of the forestmen ones seem to fit.

Closer view of Lagoon Lockup and other minifigs. The cannon, other weapons, and parrot are missing. Everything else accounted for. Captain Redbeard is hidden in the jail. Another pirate is here from somewhere else. Again the soldiers' torso prints are perfectly preserved. The big flag has both clips intact which is rather rare.
Also the Town river set is complete I think. I always liked that set but never thought I'd have it. The girl's hat has paint on it but I have a bunch of those spare because they're cheap and I wanted to make confederate troops.
An M-Tron and Space Police set here as well, nice to have since I don't have much of those in my collection. The Hospital set is cute too, I might sell it once put together though.

People always wank this one as "the golden standard of TIE fighters", but I always felt like the cockpit area didn't really capture the "sphere" look, if you can see what I mean. Although I feel like it has somewhat grown on me, because that newest TIE interceptor has the issue I just described but 2x worse, even the old blue interceptor looks more like a proper sphere even while being way more blocky lol.

I found and restored this humble set a while back without a manual, so it looks a little different.
I lost 3/4 rebels so I ordered 3 new ones, though unfortunately because I wanted to give the driver something to actually drive the damn thing with I had no more space to put the 3rd rebel in there (original build has the driver 1 stud forward with no driving controls), so I kinda "solved" it like this but idk, it looks kind of like a space garbage truck now...

LEGO accidentally left open access to a file they shouldn't have. They leaked a massive wave of upcoming sets planned for 2027 and 2028. The document includes early details and images for a huge portion of the lineup, complete with minifigure designs, covering releases all the way from early 2027 through late 2028. No guarantees they all come out.

I care about visual spoilers, but the "list of set names" does nobody any good except create false hope. as a matter of fact, it's worse than not doing it.

I've been trained at this point to expect disappointment. for example: Lego is doing POKEMON squeeeeeee!!!!!! here's a list of sets!!!!! (given a list of sets and names without pics) aaaaaand.... boom. it's a wreck once we actually SEE it. and we all cry over how it's not what we expected

Lego Propaganda-Team (Social Media Advertising?) needs to skip that step, and go right to the blurry pics

I remember as a kid I always wanted the hell out of some of those trans-pink Harry Potter roofs, but now I have no idea what the hell I was even planning to do with them. Just excited by big exotic pieces at that age I suppose.
Speaking of, got two of these recently, but with no canopy to match (think I posted the haul last thread). I'm thinking I'll either put them together with a reverse connection if I want to make a sphere (fuel tank, perhaps?) or just use diagonal plates to make them flat-topped (possibly watchtowers).

I think that living in a small city is the best for finding these. In big cities the good ones go instantly, too rural and they don't pop up often like you said. My area is in the goldilocks zone.
A good tip to keep in mind is that the best finds usually have bad photos. This is maybe not the most extreme example but here is the listing photo from this lot. A couple of the gems are plain to see but there's a lot more that is hidden. No lineups of minifigs and valuable parts, just a box of bricks. It shows that the person selling isn't someone who's into the adult side of the hobby, collecting, reselling, etc. Just a parent or grandparent selling old toys that the kids aren't interested in anymore for a price that seems reasonable. So there's no "THIS IS RARE VINTAGE 2016 LEGO CITY, NO TIMEWASTERS I KNOW WHAT I GOT".
Bad photos plus your autistic knowledge plus Bricklink research means you can sniff out great finds that others might miss. For example I saw what looked like a small box with 3kg of basic bricks for $100. I was going to ignore it but I noticed part of a hull piece of the Armada Flagship poking out from under the bricks. I messaged asking for more photos and there was a pile of good stuff, classic minifigs and sets, pirates/Western/Castle/Space. Instant buy.

I've pulled 3 holyshit lots from FB Marketplace.
1. A mom for $200 sold me 2 55 gallon totes filled with legos. While yes some were Friends sets most were nearly complete sets. About half I kept and the other half I flipped for $1k on ebay/bricklink.
2. A guy who obviously robbed someone sold me a trashbag that included a trove of 70s-80s legos including the Black Knight's castle with the white dragon plumes for $50
3. A guy sold me a set with a complete Black Seas Barracuda, with the sails never cut for $100 (I talked him down from like $150)
I had a mom recently selling a complete fantasy era collection with bardings and everything, but some douche bag got it first "Oh, I am sorry I sold it to someone who had messaged me a few minutes before you did".

The second one is a dark, metallic blue. None of the official Elves Dragons are that color at all - one is deep indigo, the other is teal.
As for the first one, while it's white like the Dragon Queen's head, the latter actually uses an entirely different mold - this one is using the standard head, which never came in white.

Do Lego stores generally all have the same pick-a-brick wall selection at any given time, or can the parts be totally different from one store to the next? I have two Lego stores in my area and was thinking about hitting them both up to see if the PAB wall had different parts, but I am not going to bother if they all just have the same selection at every store at any given time.

I’m not lucky enough to live near one at all so I scour fb pages and groups about PaB for anything interesting. There’s plenty of folks who will only charge you a small fee for going and picking you a box and sending it to you.
Anyway, from what I’ve seen PaB walls can vary significantly between stores even in a similar location like Chicago.
If it were me I would check out both if they’re close. Lego likes to control everything but depending on the store culture and management you might find you have a preference for one over the other or one has a better selection.

There are two Lego stores in my city and I visited both of them in the same day one time. One is significantly larger than the other and had a larger PaB wall so it had greater selection by default. >>
>>11871342
No, grip seems fine to me. Granted all of these are actual gunmetal instead of the original speckly paintjob ones, so that might be a factor. Also if you're having normal horn/spike pieces wobbling in there, it's more likely a problem on the horn side, as I do have several that have an unusually shitty hold (probably from being in too tight a slot at some point in their history, or maybe a bad batch/year).

The horn grip hasn't been an issue really, it's the grip for keeping the helm on a minifig's head. Have tried 3D printing helms and weapons with mixed results; didn't have much experience at the time so I'll probably give it another go sometime but I've been on extended break from the army-building. Can only speak for myself but it was released in the middle of my dark ages; would get into Mega's Halo line soon after and didn't really look at Lego for a good chunk of that run. It was pretty radical departure from the previous castle themes, having non-"human" factions for the first time with trolls, dwarves, the undead. The Crown Knights never had much appeal to me, just didn't seem as cool as just about every other Castle faction. The 2000s were tough years for TLG, Lego Star Wars was just starting to bail them out of their financial difficulties and they'd spread themselves too thin with a lot of specialty parts. Couldn't say without definitive info but the line may have been underproduced compared to the rest of the Castle waves.

>>

My own dark age began somewhere around 2009/2010, which is a bit unfortunate because I did miss out on the last two proper Castle themes (Kingdoms? Is that what they called them?) before we were doomed to an eternity of big gay black boxes, CMFs, and GWPs. Those, however, are at least still fairly reasonably priced on the secondhand market, taking into account of course the general rabidity of castleniggers. Er, no offense.

I don't think there's any significant threat to their bottom line. Piracy tends to impact smaller brands the most (see Nintendo thriving despite a high piracy rate, PSP/Vita visibly suffering from piracy due to lower market share). It will mostly be practiced by poor people that wouldn't be buying much product to begin with, while normal people will pay for the convenience and whales are more interested in the authentic "premium brand" experience than actual possession of the toy.

Not very. 3D printing looks like total shit and will for a very long time. UV printers as well. My closest B&M shelled out for an industrial, high end UV printer to custom print AI slop designs on Lego and that also looks extremely off when you have it in hand. The texture of the print is so different and it ends up getting too thick. It reminds me of back in the day 20ish years ago before the average joe could get custom UV prints and people would just create custom stickers to tack all over minifigs. It just immediately looks bad in hand.

I don’t know.
I don’t see how those brick heads and some of the recent decisions (shart brick) have made me question if Lego has more money than sense.
The bubble will burst eventually and I suspect it already has, hence the focus on 18+ displayslop.
They’re trying to milk as much as they can from the paypiggies while they still can.

the real question to ask is "how will Lego screw this up?"

every time:
step 1 - leeeeaaaak reveal Lego is doing [Thing]!!!
step 2 - community freaks out! OMG! finally! [Thing]!!!!!
step 3 - community dreams of how amazing sets for [Thing] will be. it will be so cool. Minifigs, locations, vehicles, creatures... all the great things about [Thing]!!!! excitement beyond excitement
step 4 - Lego reveals actual set(s) or theme design
step 5 - community cries that [Thing] is not what it could have been. many sad people

the problem is the leeeeaaaak of the [Thing] words only. Lego needs to go right to leeeaaakks of sets. there would be far less disappointment that way

I've been away and almost posted in the "real" thread. Glad I did not make that mistake. No soul or real brick love there, I swear they dont even play with their Lego or create worlds and stories.

Check out my newest build. I finally finished this MOC I saw on Bricklink designer program a year or two ago. It wasn't picked, but I loved the build abd tried to recreate it. I added a goat pen to it instead of the little shop the original designer had. And im sure I took liberties since its not an official release. I also made it for my Forestmen, even though the original was a Wolfpack build.

Ill probably make a short video showing off all in the set, but ive gotten lots of builds done lately and not filmed yet. Always seems to take up so much time to set up for a video.

Gee, almost like the "leaking" is done on purpose so that their loyal consoomers will have several weeks or months to get excited for new [PRODUCT] on a conceptual basis to the degree that they'll still grudgingly buy it after the disappointing actual reveal rather than taking one look at it and noping.

I have a question as I see there is no thread here on /toy/ about 3D Printing, but /tg/'s /3dpg/ probably cannot answer my question. Have you ever tried to 3d print lego bits, and if so how have you gone about this? Successfully, I might add.

in my experience 3D-Printed Lego is such obviously bad quality, it's virtually useless. at least with a Warhammer-type miniature, you paint over it, and it can look somewhat professional. Lego pieces are like beacons of light that scream "Faaaaake!"

one of the local brick-reseller stores (not the evil one, it's a different store) has such a display and I laugh when I see them, they are so bad

sorry that's not the type of answer you were looking for, but the edges are not the same sort of crispy-rounded that real Lego bricks have. maybe someone else has better luck with more-pro-looking results

I wonder how vampires and werewolves would work in space?
Would the lycanthropy be tied to the home lunar cycle or just anytime they buzzed a moon ensign ricky has to get locked down?
Would a vampire be able to even go to space or would it burst into flames the second they peaked over the atmosphere and saw the sun? I guess it’d have to be a night launch too.

Hard to tell if it's real though. None of the other old visors I possess have the usual branding/item number that Lego tends to mould onto most pieces either, so I have to assume that's normal. It does look like there's some warping in the middle, maybe just a good quality (colour-wise) recast job?

Or more likely it was originally from some obscure chink bootleg set, those can have some funky recolours that more or less match official colours.
I'm leaning towards not real either way because while it looks almost the same to the naked eye my shitty phone camera whose colour I can't be arsed to fix makes real trans-orange look pink, but this stays orange.
