I am going to be so irritated if the last wave wastes a spot on Joker. I own a Super Powers Joker I want new characters before the line dies out. Really need them to either give us Black Canary, Fire, and Ice to round out the JLI or Black Canary, Hawgirl, Zatanna, and Elongated Man to complete the Satellite-era team.

>>11877033
>also unless you really liked the cyborg superman with the claw, wouldn't except much from those metallo arms
I admit that it's a concern, but given that all the other figures in that image are holding accessories I think it's more likely that they're just weapons and not actually integrated into the arms.

>>
>>11877344
Would require new molding so Mattel is your only hope, and we're not sure of their designers' character selection preferences yet. Really, back when Todd was doing new figures but was starting to do classic looks that would've been a no brainer for a look that would sell. They dropped the ball there.
>>
>>11877344
mafex has a weird fetish for knightfall so I'd say it's not impossible they'd do a "regular" azrael
>>
>>11877421
I think when DC licenses merchandise rights to Japanese companies they license specific storylines. So they aren't licensing Batman, they're licensing the Hush or Knightfall Storylines. I don't have any proof of this but it lines up with how most of these companies handle producing figures. They tend to stick to one story and pull from it.
>>
>>11877447
>I think
You're fucking wrong, retard. What a stupid goddamn post.
>>
>>11877447
Wrong. The DC license is completely open, toy companies just drill into the same Jim Lee stories over and over again because those have the highest sales and are the most entry level basic bitch designs of the characters everyone recognizes because DC has just been an art gallery for Jim Lee, the amazing Jim Lee, the guy who sold a million copies of X-Men 40 years ago Jim Lee, the amazing boring ass stiff poses and chicken scratches of Jim Lee. He's also pretty much running the company and when they ask for art samples for reference, they always get sent Jim Lee's shit.

I am so fucking bored with Jim Lee and Hush it's unreal but that's what the normies like so I guess we get Hush shit until Jim Lee dies and someone finally asks what else DC does besides Hush.

>>
>>11877421
People don't seem to understand the licensor has all power when it comes to what they let an outside company do.
>>
>>11877474
When most people think of comic book art as a style, if they're based they think of Kirby, but Jim Lee is probably going to come to mind even if they don't know who Jim Lee is. The generic poses, the bland uninspired covers, everything about his work is safe, can be put on shirts and lunchboxes. Like Jim doesn't have a style exactly, it's more like he's an early AI just kind of condensing things down into a generic presentation a board room full of suits would think is acceptable enough for the properties they've been told are worth money but for some reason continually underperform in monthly sales.
Everything about Jim feels like the lights in office buildings. It's fine and nothing about it is inherently bad, but after a while you start to really fucking hate how sterile and soulless it is.
>>
>>11877447
>>11877449
Wrong. Mafex made a Flash prototype but Warner didn't approve it.
>>
>this general is so contrarian they're calling Jim Lee art "early AI art".
Y'all are an embarrassment, don't read comics, don't care about the source material, and see only here to each Todd McShitbag's shaft. You can't even make a good OP. The Marvel guys are laughing at you while they recreate comic panels. Best DC has is Jared and his same shitty poses.
>>
>>11877483
Now this is irony at its finest, while I agree Jim Lee's work can be a bit souless, but so are your toy setups with the generic poses that you criticize Jim for.

>>11877484

That's not inaccurate but only applies to licensed product. Even this moment, people on Walmart, Etsy and Amazon are selling allegedly "Warner Consumer Products" licensed goods, that even has the TM language, but it's not. I know this for a fact because a friend of mine emailed them to complain about how they were letting this midwest company be the only one making a specific Superman 2025 movie coffee cup (and letting them do a shitty job at that) - and the coffee mug turned out to be, essentially, knock-off goods.
Only made in the Good Old USA, not China.

>>11877456
NTA you replied to but you do read what you write? Even after your hit send?
Do you understand what a license is? It's like driving. You don't have a RIGHT to it, you are breaking the law if you do it without said license, no matter how careful or 'good' you are at driving.
So no, manufacturers of whatever - toys, underoos, t-shirts, coffee mugs, posters, etc., they all have to license that crap. This is true for Marvel or Star Wars or any other IP.
Sure people can produce KO but they aren't licensed.

>>11877447
>they license specific storylines.
They are definitely licensing specific story-lines, it's specifically why it's called HUSH Batman.
Whether they are limited to that, who knows without seeing the contract.
But it's very CLEAR that none of the import companies has a non-restrictive, open invitation to exploit any aspect of the DC IP that they want to, absent Warner Consumer Products say so. So why all these assholes are calling your post stupid is just them being imbeciles - at worse, you are imprecise about known unknowns.

>if they're based they think of Kirby
I don't like Kirby because to me all his faces look like the MCP from Tron. That being said at least his art was consistent, I think Jim Lee's art has suffered from two main factors, firstly with Image comics I think Lee took too much inspiration from Marc Silverstri, Todd McFarlane, and Rob Liefield in terms of adopting the scratchy flourishes on his work, they were always there, but post-Image that definitely increased, and second is with the advent of digital inking and colouring, even though Lee still draws on paper, the finer details are easier to preserve when finalising the work, it can also be done a lot faster, so his line work can be more detailed, rather than making sure his art is "cleaner" and more economical to make sure that details translate through to the final print and to make sure his pages are done in time to make deadlines.
Jim Lee of the 80s and 90s is one of the greatest artists of all time, and he deserves that title, but that is not the Lee we have now. After a while all great artists get too set in their own still and their work suffers, just look at Frank Miller.
>>
>>11877494
Yeah, now. Remember Warner is the same company that wouldn't let Black Manta be in Justice League Unlimited because they were think of making an Aquaman cw show like Smallville. They also killed the Arrowverse Suicide Squad because they were getting a movie. Now they need money and can't afford to be weird pussys about their ips.

that still hasn't really ever applied to toys

>>11878224
Doesn't McFarlane commission different sculptors? The guy who sculpted the Speeding Bullets figure has a lot of interesting DC stuff in his shop on cults3d.
1950's Superman and Lois, 1930's Superman and Clark, might have been possible two-packs.
1940's Batplane, 1950's Batmobile, GCPD diorama, Kenner Batcopter, a couple gargoyle rooftop corners for displays.
The Justice Guild of America, Bob Kane's red Batman... and this is just the guy who's got his commissioned work listed for public sale.
I suspect the number of Batmans Todd's released isn't even a fraction of the sculpts of Batman and Batstuff they're sitting on that they'll never be able to produce.
>>
What is Superman Kingdom? This is listed as Eradicator - Superman Kingdom.
Kingdom Come?
Or is there a storyline where Eradicator decides the time has come to establish a Superman Kingdom around the Fortress of Solitude?
>>
>>11878235
Well each company tends to have a group of sculptors they commission from frequently. It just happened that one of the best McFarlane has commissioned from is the Returns Catwoman guy

Yeah they did a really good job with her. Even the eyes have reflections in them.
I wonder why they commission artists to make something entirely new instead of approaching sculptors who already have finished figures listed for sale, then adapting those. Like, so much of production and design is spent wondering if the customers will like something, when they could just sort all results by downloads and look at what's most popular.

lol thats what voxel remeshing does, it makes it all into one solid piece while using voxels to bring down the file size, the problem is that i just shittidly slapped on a ton of stacks of money together and its still 400mb. Yeah it sucks but the license expires in three months so there isn't time to produce a massive wave, stores might not be able to sell them, and Todd can't devote whole warehouses to products he can only legally get rid of through shell accounts on ebay.
I really like the new Big Bad Launch Pad idea with crowdfunding lines. It's slower and has its own problems but nobody gets their orders cancelled or misses the three minute preorder window.
They made a Tick for their Longbox Heroes line. Good shot at them doing public domain superheroes like Phantom Lady, too.

I thought it was funny cause the writers are so far into the subversive playback that they've looped to John being a loser and Hal being the only character who matters. Even dead in the future Hal has like 4 ways to come back. The most impressive thing about John is his credit score and fucking the elderly wife of the CEO of Ram Ranch. Which I'm sure he's real broken up about it, probably crying on the inside...of some ornery ranch hand in dire need of the boss's "frontier justice".

>curious, what head are you swapping it for?
I'd like to use the wave 1 head (though I'd probably track down the NU52 variant because I don't care about the body). I think the likeness on the Wave 9 classic version is better, but I hate that he's smiling, I don't like my figures to have any overt expression (with some exceptions) because it limits the scenarios you can put them in, it makes no sense for Superman to be smiling in the middle of a fight with Darkseid. So I prefer the more neutral expression of the wave 1 release.

Glad to finally see something like this but Mafex runs too small for the average 1/12 scale. I have my Hush Supes displayed but he's getting replaced as my main Superman if the LPZZ comes out good. I'm going to consider it my Golden Age, pre-Crisis Superman at that point to still give him space on the shelf since in a vacuum he's still great.

Batman Beyond didn't interest me because it's just more batwank - and even worse, it's non-canonical batwank. I don't need more of Timm's wet fever dream fap fics in my life - seven or so season of DCAU was more than sufficient. If you haven't seen it and want something well done, even if it also wanks the bat hard enough to get him to cum enough to bring back Alfred instead of knockoff Pennyworth, find yourself some good pirate streams of The Brave and the Bold.
The GL-TAS would have worked better if they trusted themselves to create their own art style instead of simply aping Timms. If you're any kind of comic GL fan, it likely will annoy you, which more than anything else, likely had as much to do with the failure of the show than anything else ascribed as the reason for the failure, such as Ryan Reynolds.

DC probably represents the great bulk of his EBIT for about the past 5 years, since McFarlane Toys has very little to amortize besides it's captive IP (McFarlane's own shitty trapped in the 70's/80's art, a lot of which he cannot even exploit without say Marvel's permission, outside Spawn) and a warehouse space, that even if he owns it, is by their own admission, run-down.

>>
>>11881709
It depends on the store. Walmart is painless and they will let you ship the extra - especially if it wasn't "Catwoman XXX x 2" on your invoice. Amazon should be the same. I would photograph everything, and drop it off at Whole Foods or whereever you use for Bezoslandia crap, and FedEx Office is usually the Walmart go to, unless you are otherwise going to the store.
If it's Target, same thing except they might or might not make you take it to a store for the return.
All of them should agree to a reship of what you are expecting when it's available.
If you used GameStop, you are possibly fucked.

>>
>>11881757

>>
>>11881709
Depends on the store. Target once accidentally shipped me two of the same Marvel Legends fig. Got my order in one day and then two days later a second that I never ordered or paid for just showed up on my door addressed to me. Called Target and they just told me to keep the extra fig. They didn't want to pay to ship it back.

Another time I got a SHF from GameStop, the fig was missing an accessory completely sealed, you could see it missing from the window before opening it and it wasn't in the box. GameStop replaced it but let me keep the first fig for the same reasons as target.

Yep, Target did that to me. It depends on the line, however. I doubt todd slop is ever free. I only have ever got free Hasbro from Target this way. hilarious that nobody knows how these are being released
>>
>>11882913
I guess they must be single boxed since mcfarlane at least in the past always says if something is a double or triple pack.

How they have enough tools to do 3 releases of the same thing doesn't make a huge amount of sense unless these are all produced at 1/3rd the usual rate and they're a running change at the factory.
>>
>>11882915
It would be even funnier if they do one lantern army builder in the Atrocitus 2 pack with swappable heads, then do a full wave of figures with the same buck and different heads

If the toy line isn't a collector line, they don't sell. For collector lines they definitely do.

Malice sold out at bbts and amazon. Meanwhile Doom 2099, Black Panther, and Cap from the same wave are still available. Coomers are the majority or near-majority of collectors and don't let people gaslight you into thinking otherwise. That's why Todd had huge nerd rage directed at him for speaking negatively on female figures.

It's time to start rotating themed displays. From now on there will only be allowed maximum of three characters per shelf, or it becomes too crowded.
Really I just cleared things out so I can think about the next row of dioramas without too much noise in the way.

coomer marvel legends always do well
emma frost was the first to sell out of x-men 97 wave she was in
x-23 was the first to sell out of the second deadpool & wolverine wave
gamerverse psylocke was scalper bait for a full year until a massive restock, and even then hasbro is confident enough to release a recolor of that figure
the line about female characters not selling well is bullshit, they sell amazingly well when they're hot and in 1/12 scale
plenty of the gi joe classified girls also sell very well when look pretty

If (and I doubt this since Mattel released Super Friends figures, the DC Animated figures, and even some retro Bat shit the last time they had the license and does fucking cartoon versions of He-Man.
On the very off chance that Mattel did not want to make Super Powers (which I would like to continue buying myself >>11881570 even though my knees are fine - apply fucking heat, dude), I would prefer Spin Master make a spin, their 5POA stuff was perfectly nice.
And if not Spin Master, then Jakks Pacific, their DC x Sonic shit was great.
But fucking Todd would just be a continuing nightmare of FOMO, availability/false scarcity and all the other fucking problems of the past five years.
Todd can go cry in his mascara for all I care.

How’s that aquaman look between core Superman and Batman
>>
>>11883359
Starfire is Tamaranian. Yor Forger is Asian. Aquaman-Mamoa is Polynesian/Hawaiian as well as German, Irish, and Pawnee out of universe and in universe he's Atlantian+human. Martian Manhunter is Martian. Superman is Kryptonian.

Only three months left until the only DC toys out there are $10 happy meal toys or $100 imports. Mattel has shown me nothing in the year they've had to hype their line that I care about. This is the only DC line I'll ever collect, plus the preorder shortage bullshit has stopped and that was always my main problem. He stopped fucking around with vampire and joker variants and got back to releasing cool shit.
Cool toys for reasonable prices that are easy to find, it's always been that simple.

>even though my knees are fine - apply fucking heat, dude
It was a joke, the other option I thought of was "those of us with hair growing out of our ears."
Honestly I don't really care who care who has the license so long as they keep producing 5/7POA figures with solid joints, good plastic and minimal paint.
>>
>>11883946
Mattel is likely being prohibited from showing off the collector line yet by Todd's -Power of License-. Or they really didn't have it ready yet and that is why DC let Todd have that license continuing until January since he did have product lined up.

Nah, I hate every choice Mattel is making. Decal symbols, glossy slightly translucent unpainted plastic, wrestling and Legends style pelvis and leg joins, it's the cheap lazy shit that makes me hate most toys. McFarlane stuff has its own problems but at least it doesn't feel like something that was made for ten year olds.

Spin Master did a decent job on the 5POA Superman '78 figures, which were not hard to find. The 6" Superman figures were also very decent, so they can definitely do a good job and already have a relationship with Warner Brother's Consumer Products outside DC.

Although I agree with you - I do want the lines to continue - just would prefer anyone other than McFarlane.
>>
>>11884007
>but at least it doesn't feel like something that was made for ten year olds.
The Mattel toys are literally made for ten year olds, younger even. They also kick ass.
Chances are whatever equivalent to Chronicles Mattel does with DC will resolve the issues you have. That said I own both the Core and Chronicles He-Man (not my pic, I can't be bothered taking a picture just for this post), and I think the Core figure is nicer, the sculpting is great on both and while there is more articulation on the Chronicles version, it's not that much more range of motion, and the reduced articulation makes the Core figure feel more solid.
>>
>>11884186
>Spin Master did a decent job on the 5POA Superman '78 figures, which were not hard to find.
I would definitely have picked these up had I seen them, unfortunately I'm in Australia and didn't even know they existed until about a month ago. Most retailers here stopped carrying basically any of the Spin Masters stuff ages ago, they just have whatever stock has been left on shelves (mainly that gold Joker) and the 12 inch figures.
There are so many things I love about Australia, but our toy retail eco-system is not fucking one of them. I've been dying to get my hands on the new Mattel Superman and nobody is stocking it, one local toy store started getting the line in, and I was really excited to see they restocked a couple weeks back only for it to be just Joker and Robin again. Not even The Flash. Otherwise I have to bite the pillow and pay for international shipping on everything.

Well that's one way to pose these greasy pieces of shit so it MOSTLY hides all the ugly, deep articulation cuts they were too lazy to design around or improve.
It even mostly hides the even uglier diaper.

The Mattel Superman (the one with the trunks at least) isn't in stores yet. The only one I saw on shelves is that laser eyes effect one, which I decided to pass on. If I see it on deep clearance or at a Ross (clearance store here in the States) or other similar spot, I might grab it. Mattel finally recently sent out the announcements that the premier Superman was coming on shelves in their wave 2, so you might get it sooner rather than later in Australia?

>>11884230
Agreed. I bought both of the Chronicle and the Core of these out of curiosity. I do miss the ankle peg but I guess He-Man doesn't get put into many running poses?
>>
>>11884516
There's a level of irony posting that with a picture of Conan figure that uses the old He-Man Classics body.
