Whats the best way to contact mcfarlane toys for a replacement part? I got the ventriloquist from target and the scarface included wont have his arm stay in no matter how hard i try and push it in. This shit is so infuriating.
>>
>>11891923
Have you tried heating up the socket with a hair dryer? Just get it good and hot and it should pop in.
>>
>>11891925
Or wait, is it loose and won't stay in at all? Like the ball is too small?
>>
>>11891889
I really wish they stopped using those in unfortunate head sculpts that make Cavil's hairline have that severe receding look. It's a combination of slicking down his hair and whatever awful grease they used. I'm curious to see how this poses once someone buys it but I suppose I will have to wait for a line like LPZZ to make a comic accurate figure or something other live action that this suit or Gunn's equally unfortunate choice for Corenswet.
>>
>>11891923
Their customer service is especially shitty, IMO. I have returned similar problems to Target and they have either given me my money back or gotten me a replacement. It helped that I still had the packaging, even though the figure had been taken out?

Super powers is the perfect example of why Warner went with Mattel. Todd just isn’t financially capable enough to mass produce $10 toys that are all basically the same mold. Now we have $13 6 inch figures with better volume and distribution than he ever had.

>distribution
It is worse with smaller lines (one of the few NECA things I wanted over the past 3 years I ended up having to order online even though multiple physical Target locations are within walking-the-dog distance of my place. But to be fair to Mattel, some of that store distribution is the same shit even the Classified guys and Legends guys have bitched about with both Walmart and Target.
I had to wait till the movie hit Amazon, to find this camo MOTU kids line variant at a suburban Walmart two county lines away from me. My poor dog could walk it but it was still like 30 miles away.
>>
>>11891941
I mean he got to the point where he was selling the same mold for almost $30 in a larger scale.

Todd still tried the same FOMO, False Scarcity BS as far back as the Green Lantern Hal Jordan, which was peg warming in some places but idiots were forced to pay $60 or more to get from scalpers.

I didn't know Mattel had a toy store at their corporate headquarters and hit it today after my sports medicine clinic appointment. Sadly, I was looking for the wave 2 core figures but they barely had any of the wave 1. Loads of the Band 2PK.

I like McFarlane all well and good, but I do find it infuriating that he keeps releasing the same figures just with new heads. Like did the The Batman Catwomen really need three entire figures just for the different positions of her mask?
>>
>>11892149
Going to echo what I said last thread: Love the extra accessories like the gritting teeth and lit flare, but the texture on the Inart is just way too excessive with the pitted texture all over even on the smooth padded parts of the costume. I also think the Pattinson likeness looks better on LPZZ, whereas the Inart looks ever so slightly off/stylized. Also combing through the film, Inart opted for an unmasked headsculpt based on a general look that he rocks through most of the film, whereas LPZZ opted to sculpt his hairdo 1:1 to the only scene where he actually takes off the cowl while still wearing the suit and his hair was really unkempt. So in that regard, it's a choice between getting a generalized unmasked head vs a scene-specific one.
>>
>>11892126
I don't know about you but the Mattel DC figures are even at the one CVS in my area that has an entire aisle for toys. I picked up the Robin at a Walmart and the Batman and Flash were easy to find at Target. They are also even at Game Stop.

>>11892613
Yeah I saw those this morning, and they look good in hand. They actually would be helped a tiny bit by being a bit taller.
>>
>>11892666
The heat vision Superman stands about a head taller than the basic assortment Batman, I think to make room for the speaker and arm gimmick. Which is great that they didn't just do one thing and call it a day, I think kids will love it, but if I could have my way, I'd love to get a regular size Superman that just has the light-up eyes. Just press a button on the back and the eyes light up, real simple.
Light-up eyes are probably my favourite gimmick, along with glow-in-the-dark figures. Which I'm surprised they don't do for Green Lantern figures,
>>
>>11892693
These just look too shiny in hand, in a way this Flash and Robin do not
Some idiot was claiming that Mattel always made shiny figures but that's nonsense since I have been getting MOTU figures from 2020 onward, mostly on the secondary market, plus some of the new movie figures, and none of those are fucking shining up my room

Well, we already know that toy manufacturers do have to make things in advance of the release of the movie and stuff gets tinkered with.
The Yeti that SpinMaster made/released for Superman 2025 is a perfect example. There isn't even cutting room film of it, just pre-wiz and some stuff that just shows the dog (actor) and blood on the snow, because they never spent the money doing the yeti in CGI

I can understand McFarlane doing a re-release of Catwoman with the updated mask, but that doesn't excuse the initial release being two entirely separate figures for the masked and unmasked version, the same with the masked and unmasked Batman. They should have just been one figure with alternate heads.

>>
Just for the hell of it I put together a comparison between the Mattel Batman v Superman basic figure and the McFarlane BvS Superman (it's the heat vision version but I swapped the head with the Justice League black suit version).
I thought it was interesting that even though it's a basic figure Mattel actually included the proper chainmail print design from the suit in such accurate detail, whereas the McFarlane version just has a generic pattern. That said Mattel really fucked up Cavill's likeness, it looks more like Oleg "The Russian Bear" Taktarov
>>
>>11893121
Oleg for reference.
>>
>>11893121
Yeah, I did buy the Movie Masterpiece, the black suit version, that Mattel did - at that point, it was far less expensive than the first iteration that Todd did that was essentially scalper pricing when I went to look for it. But then I ended up with an auction lot win, and now with two more off the Ross Exclusives (literally just for the heads and fodder bodies for customs).
But the new generation of Mattel figures are so much better. I think Hasbro has the right way to go here, where they are face printing the live action figures, because you did see painting differences on the Core MOTU figures on the movie characters - not as noticeable with say Man At Arms, but on Teela's face and especially on He-Man's eyebrows.
No where as shitty a thing as Todd's side eye, or lipstick problems, however.

>>11893073
I mean, he did masked and unmasked Drifter heads for BatPatinson. Who does that? I've yet to see the movie, but the character couldn't have been that important that they couldn't have just done a soft goods or even soft rubber scarf and accomplish the same thing?
It's why those two damn things peg-warmed so badly that Target is still trying to sell them off at a discount.
>>
>>11893151
Forgot the picture? It might not be this 2013 version, because you're right >>11893122 -- it is a shitty face sculpt. Mine was boxed and I ended up turning around and listing it and then selling it, within a few weeks of getting the first McFarlane used.
>>
>>11893121
McFarlane tends to give the sculptors more leeway
>>
>>11893121
I think Mattel has better tech than Mcfarlane. They probably have their own in house design programs where they can pull up a figure (say He-man) and slap different textures on him like Chainmail, Scales, or even make him ribbed for your pleasure. Todd has freelancers who probably just use blender and then he puts the stl file through some articulation cutter someone made 10 years ago.
>>
>>11893179
I was under the impression all companies used freelance sculptors. And that even Todd got the CAD files from movie designs (which he has mentioned in interviews in the past)

Mattel might have gotten the actual print file for Warner Bros. to add to the figure and McFarlane either couldn't get it, or didn't bother to ask. The REALLY odd thing is the chest emblem has the correct chainlink design.
>>
>>11893177
McFarlane also seems to not QC sculpts at many points in the process, from paper to finished production

I’m only buying Mattels kids line unless the collector line is just an upgraded version of that. I do not want what they are doing with chronicles. Mattel has on figured out how to make the joints smooth. They are either tight or loose. I don’t want to deal with that. Despite the articulation handling the chronicles heman is not fun. Their core line and origins are better.
>>
>>11893833
The art of joint QC is lost on modern manufacturers; thats why the cheap domestics moved to ratchets. From what I hear Chronicles is trying to do smooth entirely friction joints the way it used to be done. Which is superior to ratchets when done well. But when done poorly......

I haven't had much problems with the joints on my Chronicles, but the one figure that did was Skeletor which had a really tight right shoulder. Had to pop it off and lightly sand it down until it felt smooth enough to move. While it was an easy fix, I can understand the worry given how it felt like it could have easily broke and not every collector has the experience in customizing to fix that.

As for the kid's line, I'm pleasantly surprised by them. I really wish Mattel keeps investing in the line to bring in more characters and occasional unique sculpts. I've actually found myself really enjoying them, and they feel like a perfect mix of a kid's toy while still being collector-friendly all at such an affordable price. The DC Premier line honestly feels like the kind of kid's line I would've wanted, and I hope they go far enough to do a Batcave and plenty other characters/playsets for them. The line isn't perfect, but they work really well in filling out a lineup/cast without feeling like I'm spending an arm or a leg for each character. They're also cheap enough that I don't worry about customizing them into a more desirable version of the character or just swap them out for a better figure from past lines.

Dude, that Deathstroke looks fucking rad.

It's a preview of the upcoming release. He looks pretty decent despite all the parts reuse. I'm thinking of either painting the chest/shoulders black or the abs/arms metallic blue to give it a more classic look.

Ah right, thanks for reminding me. I did pull off one of the Corensupes heads from the one stupid action pose Superman movie figure, the one that came with the Kaiju, since the entire package was like $7 at a Ross or TJ Maxx. I think I did have to crack the chest and the head remains on a rachet pole.

Except for the human flesh tone hands, these all look great. A Gundam type marker would come in handy or some black or other color gloved hands. I thought it was a pain to get the head off - that's the John Stewart? And how are you pegging the head on?
>>
>>11894000
Pegged right on. Mcfarlane heads fit these but most sit too low because of the peg length. Im sure someone has longer replacement pegs already.

I ended up with extra of the SpinMaster CorenSupes because I wanted multiples of the Lex Luthor combat suit, and I also made - I think three of the SpinMaster Gary Robot BAF's (all purchased on clearance).
I was going to stick one of the heads on a Justice Gang suit and also a small House of El decal on the jacket front, and a standard big one on the back.

If you want to talk about McFarlane, there's an entire containment subreddit open to you
If you want to shit on Todd, the entire internet is your playground, even this thread.
The very few /toy/ anons who have not been driven way try to talk about something: Mondo Ivy, Inart Arkham, Blokees, Beast Kingdom - even talking about reissues like Mafex Hush or NECA soft goods, and either it's ignored, they get abused, it devolves into the usual 'poor fag' shit.
SDCC reveals were probably the last time there was actually any decent reason to visit the thread, which likely means NYCC will be the next time it's worthwhile.

tl;dr this reflects a damaged /toy/ board culture, not a damaged IP or even damaged adult collectible character figure line

Besides the ones mentioned, Mattel previously made:
-Carrie Kelly Robin
-Wonder Girl
-Batwoman
-Vixen
-GL Jessica Cruz
-Spoiler

Plus live-action females from the DCEU and DCW
-DCEU/DCW females
-Mera
-Supergirl
-Dr. Psycho (BAF)
-Katana
-Gadot WW (various)
-Hippolyta
-Menalippe

So with the ones listed, that's almost 20, not counting repaints or dupes (especially for movie figures, given how many HQs Mattel released for essentially 3 movies - given they only did two Mera's for three movies).
I actually expect it will be better, because they should get to comic versions of characters like Zatanna and will likely be expected to do all the live action characters, even for people SpinMaster and McFarlane did for Superman 2025, like say Lex or Hawkgirl, although I doubt we get a 3 piece suit Lex.

That reminds me that the information I took that from (figure real and Wikipedia) must be wrong since they did that San Diego CC LoSH exclusive, which included Saturn Girl, which made me realized I forgot to look at the other line, so there are actually at least another six females, including Donna, Star Sapphire, and others, plus repaints, etc, etc.

Not that anon but spoilers:
I wasn't too keen on how they changed Bane's motivations to justify his vendetta against Batman in a more sympathetic light by having him idolize Thomas Wayne. I always enjoyed how his original motivation in the comics felt more abstract with him having a vision of his future self telling him to conquer his fears which is visualized by a nightmarish bat so he draws that connection Batman later on in his adulthood. Also tweaks like him killing a pedo in prison to make him seem more justified in his killing, while in the comic the guy was more accommodating by trying to recruit him as his lackey but Bane ends up killing him out of pride of becoming his own man led by no one. As if Bane being born in prison to serve his father's sentencing wasn't already enough, it's like modern writers can't write likable villains without giving them a sympathetic backstory.

However, the Kon-El Superboy is fun and I'll likely keep him, but have no interest or desire (or nostalgia goggles for these).

As for your question >>11896667, as a Supes fan, I prefer the short hair. The mullet in action figures or in comic art was also something I am not nostalgic for. I don't think anyone needs to have short hair, Dick is sometimes drawn with longer than his Robin length hair, likewise other characters - Garth is a perfect example, I think it depends on a lot of things.
I do also, for example, prefer shorter hair Arthur Curry.

They actually released the sonic characters as 5 inches as well, in the DC deco. They did vehicles as well - which I thought about when they were on clearance at Walmart but the paint just looked way too cartoon to work with actual action figures.
Maybe something like the Animated Series - but I don't collect those

I think Kenner were just enjoying being able to get really crazy with the sculpts because the general industry consensus was that sculpts needed to be simple so they wouldn't fail during the moulding process, but they ended up realising that you could go way further than originally thought.
Also it was the 90s where everything was EXTREME.

Really, there's no reason not to give us figures in multi-pack versions that can be civilian versions of themselves, especially when those civilian designations are sometimes crucial or significant, like Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent.
Do we need a civilian Damian Wayne? Nope. A civilian Barbara Gordon as Oracle, sure.
A civilian Selina, or Lois, why not?
Especially when some outfits, like Constantine, aren't 'uniforms.'

McFarlane's Blizzard line is in danger, they had to make all the drops today McFarlane Toy Store exclusive. They seem like they are going to lose a ton of revenue when they lose the DC license and these other IPs simply aren't big enough or successful enough to account for it.

haven't logged in in almost a month but just browsing from a web search and even their new sports action figures aren't being talked about and those don't look awful, in hand, on the pegs and are only $19 at Target so they should be selling.
Target did shove them next to the wrestling figures and maybe people can't find them?
>>
>>11897851
See this is why toys should be more aimed at kids with playtime in mind, you can do changeable costumes. Or alternatively you do a playset, you could do a Wayne Manor/Batcave with one of those things where you put Bruce Wayne inside a thing and turn it around and then pull out Batman. Then you could just package a Bruce Wayne in with that. Same thing with Clark Kent and a Daily Planet. You could make it a deluxe set that has a couple levels and include Clark Kent, Perry White, and Jimmy Olsen (you could do Lois on her own because people will buy just a Lois to pair with Superman).
>>
>>11898016
Problem with sports figures is something mcfarlane is well aware of - people are local with their player selections largely. So you can have some players pegwarm so hard you couldn't give them away in some cities. Why he wants to go back to that kind of dangerous business model when he wont even make enough DC figures to fulfill demand is rather bizarre.
>>
>>11898041
They are also 6 inch, and very basic.
At one store, I hit, one was already in the clearance section with a damaged card and a cracked/broken blister (someone has swiped the baseball bat off it), so it was half off.
Sadly, his helmet is stuck on, the head is not easy to swap out, and neither are the shoes.
It was pretty much a waste of money, because I was thinking it might work as the bottom part of some civilian NPC, once I swapped the shoes and touched up the belt with a Gundam marker or paint.

They really manage to make the worst looking 6in figures on the market. Really, I can see why McFarlane initially wanted to do characters that are high detail in their sculpt, because the detail hides how bad a basic body looks with their articulation/engineering scheme. And going 7in allows for greater visible detail, although I think it would've generally worked still in 6.
When you add a bunch of detail the problems don't show up as harshly.

>going 7in allows for greater visible detail
Yeah, even the Todd Cultists here and on his containment board have finally agreed on this point, versus the argument that it's the superior scale. It probably never helped that argument that even claiming they are all 7" was never true and that within McFarlane's own stuff, it's not compatible as far as scales go.
I bought a cheap lot of used, mostly McFarlane that included the Harry Potter they made, it was only $5 and missing the best part, the translucent stag/deer; The hands and arm pieces fall and the sculpture and detail look like shit, and jeez louise, if I was a representative for Radcliffe, I would sue over the face sculpt. The Ron new, with his translucent dog, is only $13 so I picked one up as another cheap 7" scale civilian but his face also looks like shit.
The employees at McFarlane can add all the details their hearts desire and the budget allows but it doesn't make up for all the bad choices and decisions they make, like the numerous released unfortunate head sculpts across ALL lines, not just DCMV.

"Adult" collectors do buy "playsets" - they just call them dioramas and pay even more for them.

>Lois
Except for the DC Direct silver age super powered version, and the All Star Superwoman, which is actually part of a wave, Lois has almost always been sold in a set, unless you want to pretend the Mego adjacent version counts. Jimmy and Perry probably were never popular enough except for hard core fans for people to be interested, but a Teri Hatcher figure would have sold then and will sell now. One of Erica Durrance, ditto. Sadly anything else from live action is easily mogged by animation or comic book versions.
A well sculpted Superwoman figure would sell well. A two pack with a civilian identity would just be the Mattel Creations or Signature Collection or whatever they are going to call their premium exclusives.
>>
>>11898389
>"Adult" collectors do buy "playsets" - they just call them dioramas and pay even more for them.
Well that's the point, I'm okay with toys being called toys, especially if that means that companies aren't using the "adult collectable" or "premium" labels to artificially bloat the price like "here's half a hallway and a door, that'll be 80 bucks!"
Mattel at least have been good with shit like Castle Grayskull (even if the last movie one was pretty weak).

As for Lois, I think she sits right on the cusp of being a popular/integral enough character that you could put her on her own card and people would buy her, but if you want to hedge your bet you could do a playset with a Lex Luthor or something where he has her hostage. You could even do both, Lois in a purple suit on the single card and a light blue suit for the playset and it's just the same figure in a different colour.

>a Teri Hatcher figure would have sold then and will sell now.
I'd be first in line, Teri Hatcher is the best live-action Lois, hands down.
>>
>Crimson Cockhead is using the fake thread

Birds of a feather...
>>
>>11898545
I probably wasn't clear enough. I think a Superwoman Lois Lane and a civilian reporter Lois Lane two pack would sell.
You are correct - Lois is strong enough to sell on her own, DC already knows that, they did one of those high end porcelain Bombshell's statues of her, and while it's 'sexy' - it's full clothed sexy, not at all as suggestive as even the Mera or others.

I also think two packs would be the way to release civilians, e.g. a Bruce Wayne/Batman, a Barry Allen/Flash. A Hal in jeans and a bomber jacker, with one in the domino masked Green Lantern uniform, etc.
Mattel did this, as someone pointed out a thread r two back, with that Alfred figure that came with extra heads. There's all sorts of way to do it, but a two-pack is one option.
>>
>>11898041
he’s been making sports figures nonstop for over 25 years. it’s not a losing venture for him at all. the real “problem” with the recent ones is that the articulation model sucks, and he started with guys most people hate, like Mutthomes.
>>
>>11898598
>There's all sorts of way to do it, but a two-pack is one option.
Two-packs are definitely an option, and for a lot of characters it does make sense, but personally I'm burnt out on multipacks because of Hasbro's bullshit where they keep putting characters I want in over-priced two packs with characters I don't want.

Some idiots are claiming that they are selling well and I agree that locally they are, like Curry in the Bay Area but unless you have someone with nationwide appeal, like say Babe Ruth probably had, it's not the money winner people think

>>11898667
I agree it's bullshit. I wanted the Bruce Banner body for a civilian lab cost scientist and a possible nerd peter parker head but you are stuck with a gray hulk. I'd like the future foundation spidey without necessarily getting reed but you're stuck or paying scalpers.
But todd pulled the same shit with his two packs except he stuffed in 22POA "ultra articulation" mega statues. I'm not exactly suggesting that (although the man bat boxed set suggests were getting that whether you and I like it or not).
