Modding the shit out of my N1.
It always irked me how none of them got the front truly right. There's either not enough yellow between the cockpit and nose of the ship, or they try to fix the issue with abhorrent stickers.
If only those big gray 10x3 wedges existed in a 8x3 format, could have brick-built the colors and shaping how I wanted it, but here I am committing cardinal sins instead.

After hours trying to figure something out I genuinely understand the struggles some of these designers had.

If the latter, hey, mission accomplished, and if the former, well of course Lego will make things worse for them out of spite. So really it's an entirely rational move on their part.

Unlike my other Adventurers MOCs, I guess this one is closer to a remake than the others - specifically of the Dino Explorer. A couple of the Dino Island vehicles strayed a little more into sci-fi than historical, with really exaggerated tank-cars and amphicars, and I thought those were pretty cool.

That middle sticker is salvageable if you place it on a 3x2 yellow tile + 2x1 gray tile, need to change those clips holding the glass from gray to yellow too.

All of them basically have good and bad things about them, so the "perfect" N1 would be to combine all of their good aspects into one.
For example the newest one is probably the worst one, but it's the only one that has the cool trans blue booster parts on its engines.

Maybe you're right, or at least not with those big wedge pieces.
I ordered some extra plates and tiles but I just cannot seem to get it to work, the top part right before the glass just ends up looking too flat with just tiles, and studding it up at some places also hasn't bore any fruit.
Maybe that shitty top sticker from the N1 that I don't own will make it work, but if that fails I'm going back to the drawing board.

Almost all bricks have an injection mold mark somewhere, and their place can also vary depending on what year the brick was made.
In any case, you can almost always place bricks in a way that those marks are covered up by placing them into the direction of another touching brick, or even just in a way that is the least visible.

In that image particular, he could have flipped those tiles 180° and those mold marks would be against other tiles aka invisible making for a much cleaner look.

You'd think displayfaggots like solid brix and mandr, or even fucking jang that acts like an expert on geometrical science, would be aware of this, but they quite literally do not even seem to see it nor be bothered by it.

for a while they were doing hip-lines but no boob-lines. the idea was that you could use those torsos for "skinny dudes" (argh that's so ridiculous) so it's "better" for you! (for the record that's so much sarcasm, I personally found it very condescending and lame) and still kinda girl-ish without having the blatant BOOBS

that policy seems to be reversing somewhat (some recent sets are including boob lines/contour shadows) ironically likely due to test -kids- confusing the non-boob characters for actually dudes and not girls.

also it's the most frustrating when those non-boob characters are in $X00 ADULTS WELCOME 18+ sets. if you are going to make sets for adults, don't hide the boobs on the adult characters sheesh...

I passed on Zelda and Star Trek
two things I desperately love and would be crazy to even dream they would be official Lego sets of

even One Piece, sure it's new-er, but it was a great show. I passed on ALL the sets due to price and/or carefully-designed lacking of things (Luffy WEARING the hat!!!??? seriously?)

dammit Lego. damn you!
why you gotta make it so expensive!!!
(that's rhetorical, I know it's due to money greed)

I'm just so over expecting Lego to do anything. it doesn't even matter at this point. much like mansions and yachts, they are neat to see pictures of, but it's just not "for me". imagine that. a freaking toy. only for the mega-wealthy. "regular people" just can't afford sports cars.

Though I've mostly been collecting the "faction era" space stuff (from Futuron/Blacktron to Spyrius/Unitron) and the UFO sets don't really visually fit with the style. They're such a big departure from anything that came before, and I feel they kind of went overboard with the sheer amount of printed details.

Yeah the Interstellar Starfighter is a massive let down. I can see what they were going for, making something that looks like a Star Trek Sovereign class ship with a dockable saucer craft on the rear. Unfortunately I think they spent most of the set budget on the fiberoptics so the thing feels like a literal hollow shell. Even the rear ship has only half the saucer parts. Its also extremely awkward to display or even play with as a kid as it is so long. Get the Alien Avenger instead.

>"for the kids" in 600 dollar adult collector sets
I wonder if Lego has debates about this type of thing, in real meetings. boob lines? hips? you figure Lego HAS to have real conversations, right? or... does the designer just kind of "get the hint" and submit torso graphics, and those just get glared at... and approved... or is there a boss that literally says "is there some way we can make this Leia have less of a loin cloth, and more like shorts?" and then somebody should stand up and say the bit about it's stupid to censor these, obviously KIDS are not buying these sets, but nobody is man enough to step up to the boss with a sheepish question

>more ridiculous that people would call you a weirdo for complaining about this
to be fair, I do come here and complain... a lot... lol
but Lego deserves it, so I keep doing it.
(I simply don't have $510 (plus tax & tip!) to get the two characters I wanted from One Piece, or even the $100+ to get Luffy wearing his hat, keep in mind LUFFY is the main character, and wearing his hat is his most important thing. but again, I think that might literally be the 100th time I've complained about Luffy and his hat lol)

Like the moment you bring up the thing with female minifigures the average faggot outside here would say shit like "You goon to LEGO?" and other trite when you try to point out lego did not have an issue with this in the past, like even non license check out the shit they did with Lego Agents, Pirates and Castle. Or heck look at their video games or the first storm and wonder woman figs.

yeah that's the point. it's common sense (ridiculous) to think that Lego corporate board room meeting includes discussions of boob lines or Leia loin cloth. but... it probably does (??) and that's a funny thing to think about

which is why it probably does NOT happen, and we wind up with no standards, as torso graphics are just decided by the morals of the few specific artists given the assignment, submitted, and approved without anybody asking any questions at all
>>
>>11904154
Guaranteed there's a klocki equivalent of an intimacy coordinator whose job is to approve or deny torso curve printing based on her daily horoscope.

NTA, but I see which could be which, except for those cylinders. Also it seems likely the bricks between the round wedges by the engines are the classic 2xn slopes (since they follow the same geometry), but it's like this one says about the game shading.

Really depends on the color. If you want to make something like your pic, you could probably MOC most of a smaller castle tower just out of pic related, and then add some foliage and other details of your choosing.

If you have a Lego store near you, the PAB wall almost always has masonry bricks in it. Last time I went they only had nougat 1x4s, but I still picked up like, 60 of them. But a couple months ago, they had probably 8 different masonry bricks, all different colors, and a good variety of them in 1x2s and 1x4s.

I don’t really get masonry in general bricks piles, then again its not what I actively search for so I’m not the 100% best, also just wait for the frog to be eliminated for activity to pick up, it’s sleep time for Americans right now.

Dunno when those exactly good introduced, but fair point. Still, I'm not a fan of modern overly detailed prints particularly on feet, if DBZ got lego sets 10-20 years ago they'd be much simpler in their designs, but I get that what I'm saying is subjective.

I'm at the verge of creating a yt account just so I can point out all the building errors because apparently the uploaders and all of their millions of followers are completely blind.
It's especially infuriating when they yap about a set being "fragile" and one of their examples is literally a brick that they themselves place wrong lmao.

Yo what head piece is that lady using? The one using the Lego movie barbarian lady torso. I've been wanting a hair with a headpiece like that to use for a custom figure from the Conan mythos. Abd whats the belt/crotch piece? I dont recognize it either.

Pic unrelated from my MOC shelf

Congrats on the D&D set. I always wanted it, but couldn't justify the price. Its a real cool set, I'd just personally tweak it to ve yellows/fut ib with class7c Cadtke, as you already have.

I'm quite jealous, in a happy for you kind of way.

Also, I love your Islander druid lady. She is amazing cool.

It's from the viking ship and sea serpent 3 in 1 set i had laying around and apparently never released in another set? I had no idea it was rare.
The crotch piece is literally from the that same lego movie cmf except i just gave her bare legs instead of her printed skirt to be sexy and more barbarian like.
>>
I'm actually tempted to go on a shopping spree now and buy a bunch of demon dudes and dudetes minifigs for my dnd set.

>>
>>11901810
Duuuuude. I just want ONE of those old yellow Leia. I cant find a single one without major cracks or paint damage.

My goal is to use that torso and legs to make a Belit the Pirate Queen from Conan the Barbarian. With some arm swaps and new head+hair and some accessories. I am currently slowly acquiring pieces for both minifigures and actual builds to do several MOCs based off Conan stories.

How did you manage to get so many? I saw one complete at a local collectable store, but they wanted $80 for it and there's no way I have that kind of money for a single figure. He'll, ive gad a pick a brick cart for a western MOX put together for months, but I haven't ordered because I haven't had a spare $110 to spend.
>>
>>11904941
>How did you manage to get so many?
When Disney first announced they were phasing out the Slave Leia imagery in favor of (what would eventually be called) "Huttslayer Leia," I grabbed six of the torsos and six of the legs for a dollar per piece. Shortly after that, everyone else started hoarding them and the price jumped.

Funny. I found that Lego movie lady at collectable shop for $3 but she had generic brown legs.

I used her arms for some Conan custom and turned the character into a Monster Wrangler for a Dragon Quest 3 MOC I am working towards.

Dang about Viking Lady. I missed out on that creator set, but wanted it. Saw it for sale used built at collectable shop for $160 without the minifigures and just laughed and walked away.

>>11904937
Cool. Must be where my demon guy came from too. I'll keep an eye out for Nexo now. Appreciate the heads up.

Pic unrelated. But my Forbidden Volcano Island MoC is getting nearer to completion. Only missing a few elements like proper bones in hair and zebra print for my drums.
