Messing with mattels core figures and I’m pro single elbows now. If these just had a couple more point like biceps, ankles and a diaphragm ball instead of a waist swivel I’d be set. Obviously capes would need to be wired tho.

No idea why paint on plastic has become some desired grail type objective
Personally, if - for example - Bateman's emblem was slightly raised and was it's own piece, similarly to Superman's shield being it's own piece, and not say a stupid sticker or painted plastic, I would pick that over extra paint on something.
I'm also in favor of accessories and I don't mean the accessories Mattel is providing in their Origins/Core kids line equivalents, but stuff like weapons, unmasked or extra heads, extra hands, etc.
>>
>>11905096
This is the best Hush Batman I have ever seen.
Heck, the best batman figure in general.

>>
>>11905127
They're more like model kits that move than standard toys. It's fun.
>>
>>11905141
I agree. For me, 90% of the fun of blokees is sitting down and putting it together. The completed figures aren't anything special.
>>
Mattel is having a 20% sale - almost ordered the John Stewart and wave 2 Superman from there since they have a King Hiss and a few other things I want, and the shipping is reasonable.
But Target offered a $5 promo and have other (household cleaning) shit I need scoreing free shipping.
Would rather pick out Mattel DC toys in person to check out the paint but am getting tired of not actually finding anything on pegs.
>>
Scale?
>>
>>11905141
Ok, I've never seen such a mediocre model kit brand get shilled so heavily on this board before. Regardless of the specificity, you guys shill this brand for like no good reason, it's not even comparatively cheap anymore.

>>
>>11905127
I mean to me for what they offer the price is great for some collectors. If I didn't have the CT Batman as an option I'd go with the blokees. Not to say I don't spend a lot on figures, there are some I'll shell out a hundred+ easily for because I love the characters. Like if a Metroid suit Samus gets made by Figma I am grabbing that shit asap. My main gripe with Blokees is that the joints don't fit in as tightly as I'd like. My Rivals Venom's one arm pops out easy and while it's not a huge deal it does bug me.
>>
>>11905094
>>11905096
They look great for $20 figs
Is it true we're getting a comic Superman from this line?
Mafex just dropped preorders for their new Batman fig and I was thinking about finally getting into the line with it but is there even a reason to when Blokees is coming out with these figs for 1/5 the price?
>>
>>11905160
Why does the Bruce Wayne head look better here than the final product?
They're both unpainted so I'm confused
>>
>>11905160
Hey man, you do you. If you like em, good for you. I'm just pointing out the fact that this line is shilled super hard for really no reason.

>>
>>11905219
Except McFarlanes you don't have to build yourself.
>>
>>11905185
You are really fixated on comparing the equivalent of a McFarlane megafig to the equivalent of a McFarlane DCMV - even without taking into account Todd's CE or Page Puncher or other FOMO nonsense.
And particularly doing so for something that importers and eBay scalpers were upcharging the same way they did for the DC Blokees kits before WB Consumer Products okayed them for legal sale in NA.
And now even the idiot scalpers on eBay and Amazon are no longer trying to collect more than BBTS or EE are asking for the Nightwing, Batman Beyond or movie Superman

>>11905164

Hell, I'm in Korea right now and the Champion class is like 15-16 bucks here. You being unable to understand only shows how out of touch you are

>>11905163
The joint fit due to how you build the figures is one if the few cons I can think of when it comes to Blokees. That and them being on the light side but I feel like some people prefer that
>>
>>11905185
Wasn't Ultron a Deluxe or something? Saw him in a mall in Seoul and the package was fucking huge

>>11905227
I can only speak from the experience I've gathered in SK cause I've been seeing tons of Gunpla and Blokees but HGs are definitely more expensive than Champion class Blokees. If you're comparing bigger figures such as Ultron and Evangelion, sure, those are more expensive but I don't see that as a fair comparison

>>11905253
Storm Arena SF figures are >40 bucks on Ali when they should be 30, what exactly is your point here?

Why is Batman more expensive? To exploit the fact that they know people will pay any price for the Big Bam Ham?
>>
>>11905298
Really bad headsculpt. I don't know how Mafex is surviving now that their quality has either stayed static or declined while their prices keep going up
>>
>>11905351
is that really enough for the company to subsist on? The Spawn figures don't sell out. Then again I guess the obscenely overpriced Elite editions do and that is probably how they plan to stay afloat, by making stuff like the image founders line that people will pay any price for.

The Batman had the most interesting art style for a Batman Cartoon since BTAS. It was basically BTAS' mentality of doing neo-art deco, but applying that to the early 00s IN the early 00s. It felt like Gotham was this ultra-futuristic city, but at some point the entire place had been heritage listed so they could change any of the buildings, so you have all this future tech crammed into this twisted nightmare of gothic architecture.

It's a great figure, only complaint I have is that the plastic for the knees feels rely soft and thin. I don't get why Mattel decided to add double knees for the DC figures when the MOTU core figures had single knees and they feel way more solid. I've been wanting DC kits since Bandai started with the Figure-Rise Standard line for Dragon Ball. I bought my friend the 2025 Superman kit for his birthday, and that feels pretty solid, so it's a fun kit like the Figure-Rise stuff, but without the hollow feeling.

>how they're "unironically better than Mafex" you can't help but feel like they're either being factious or trying to shill
They're probably just doing it because it gets a reaction. The only Mafex I have it the Terminator (the Arnie version not the the skeleman), and that does kinda have the same hollow feeling as a model kit, so while I wouldn't go as far as to say the Blokees Hush Batman definitively looks better, it definitely looks almost as good based on the promo photos and if it costs a third the price, that's definitely a big point in Blokees favour.
>>
>>11905761
Lol your Mafex feels hollow like a model kit? Did you get a bootleg maybe? I have over a dozen Mafex's and none of them feel as hollow or brittle as a model kit.
>>
>>11905763
Nta but I got a nightwing when he came out and immediately returned him after feeling how hollow it was
>>
>>11905777
That's because he has a swappable back plate you doofus. No other Mafex feels like that because they don't have a swappable back. Grayson does feel a bit more flimsy than the rest because of this, but still nowhere near model kit levels of fragile.
>>
>>11905763
I said "kinda" I've noticed it with a lot of Japanese figures (SHF, Figma), they use relatively thin and hard plastic, so it has kind of a model kit feel. It's not ubiquitous, but it is common.

They moved the Star Wars stuff the back of the aisle by the bikes and pogo sticks, Star Wars must be selling like dogshit.
The blokees they have are $16 a pop, and I was tempted to get an Iron Man but I think I'll just wait until Catwoman is in stores and she can be my first.

They also were in the middle of setting up the new registers so there were only two open lanes for the entire store. It took half an hour just to get out of the store.

I was thinking about getting rid of the gold whip belt on the McFarlane Hush Catwoman, but the blokees version comes with both options so I think I'll leave the McFarlane Selina as she is.

This Selina is sold as the Hush Catwoman but the options like the alt waist and unmasked head make it so this is also a Darwyn Cooke version, too.

Isn't she a compatible scale with the new Mattel figures? Between the two lines, blokees seems like the obvious ones to be hyped for unless something crazy happens at the NYCC reveal. There's no way Mattel can beat the number of options and accessories for this price point.

I like how there's no Jokerized alt head.

As someone with lots of imports, Mafex really is about the lowest rung of the big ~6'' scale lines, always just feels like the bare minimum. There's shoddier stuff out there like HAF which are even more archaic in terms of articulation but Mafex never really got much better than 2015 era figuarts.

How far /toy/ has fallen. When did this board get so poor? If you're not shilling literal bootlegs, you're shilling mediocre models. It's just because they're cheap isn't it?

But you guys do you and get all butt mad that some stranger on the internet isn't pissing and shitting himself in glee over a model kit because it's $20.
>>
>>11906509
>When did this board get so poor?
Anon, it's current year, we're ALL poor, and not just that, but everything is over-priced shit. There's no reason for Mafex to cost over a hundred bucks, there's no reason for McFarlanes to cost as much as they do, especially given that the amount of re-use has increased significantly as the line has gone on. I know it's not DC, but both Marvel Legends and Black Series are stupidly over-priced.

>>11906511
What I think is weird is how insanely pissed off you are about people getting excited about something. If the anons that are looking forward to getting the Blokees are excited, then let them be excited. I'll take anons going on about how much they're looking forward to something than people complaining.
>>
>>11906509
Maybe people simply prefer a line that gives you tons of accessories and decent articulation? You realise not every line needs to be perfect for people to enjoy them, don't you? Stop being so miserable and let people enjoy things. Otherwise, you can go visit Gunpla threads and tell them about how model kits are shit all day long

>>11906511
There's a difference between offended and annoyed. You think people are hurt, meanwhile they just think you're retarded for caring about a line you don't even like. I don't give a shit about the smaller Blokees and think they're stupid but I'm not complaining about them all day long. Bought one because it was like 28€. Bought two of the mini Beast Wars as well and I must admit it was fun building them, even if it took like two minutes. Now the Evangelion will be the deciding factor for my going deeper into the line or not

I too think that the price point and decent quality (not astoundingly great) are the single biggest factors for why people are interested

Yeah, they basically have no competition at this price point for a lot of their IPs. Only Marvel and Star Wars really. In DC's case, we'll see next year how Mattel's collector line stacks up.

>>11906549
>Never had a modern figure break on me before, just old 90s stuff.
Then you've been exceedingly lucky. I'm extremely careful and have still had the occasional break from various lines import and domestic over hundreds of figures. Having the very first of a line I bought break would put a bad taste in my mouth, though.

There are multiple people who don't think Blokees is as great as this place makes it out to be. I haven't even posted since yesterday morning. I'm not your boogerman.
>>
>>11906532
They don't come with more accessories than their Mafex counterparts. In fact, they come with the same ones, except instead of a grimacing head, Blokees Selina gets an unmasked head instead. She even has the swappable torso gimmick that Mafex did years ago. As I've said previously, they're fine for what they are, but the level of hype they get is way overblown. That Batman looks like a Marvel Legends and costs as much as one does too so I just really don't see what the huplah is about. I have a couple of Blokees kits too. Eva 01 and a couple of the TF kits. They're fine, but they're not exactly Bandai quality that I'm used to. Why are Blokees so afraid of undergating?

Also, the Selina just looks off to me with the voluptuous proportions. They don't look bad, just off since I'm so used to her being depicted with a more slender gymnast body in that costume. It's not like how Jim Balaent drew her in the 90s with the huge balloon tits. For the record, i like both looks. But the Blokees just doesn't look right to me. Too stylized.
>>
You ever notice how Mafex just obliterates Blokees, McFarlane, and Mattel when it comes to DC Comics action figures? Seriously, the detail on those fuckers is insane! The articulation is next-level, letting you pose your favorite heroes in badass ways. Blokees are a joke in comparison, with stiff joints that’ll leave you cursing like a bloody sailor.

McFarlane tries to flex with their oversized designs, but they often lack the finesse Mafex brings. I mean, who cares about a hulking figure if it can’t even hold a pose without toppling over? And don’t get me started on Mattel; their figures look like they were slapped together in a factory by someone who just discovered glue. Talk about a disgrace!

As someone with European roots, I appreciate craftsmanship. Mafex embodies that with their quality and attention to detail. It’s not just about collecting; it’s about owning a piece of art. So if you’re still stuck on those other brands, wake the hell up and treat yourself to the best!
>>
>>11906559
Can you define the difference? I will say, if Blokees gets people into real model kits, then I can't hate them all that much. Everyone needs to start somewhere and if this opens the gates for more people to get into model building than I guess I shouldn't complain.

Again, I don't think they're bad by any means. I just think the conjejcture around statements like "they're better than Mafex" is a bit fucking over stated.
>>
>>11906582
Go away chatgpt.
>>
>>11906578
NTA but if we were talking in a complete vacuum, then yes, the Mafex definitely looks better in terms of shading and the size of the head, and all things being equal then sure, get the Mafex, but as it is, the Blokees looks almost as good, and you can add the shading in yourself if you're a halfway decent painter and have an airbrush (which the people who are most excited for models probably do), but more importantly, you could grab three or four of the Blokees for the price of one Mafex, so for anons that would love to get crazy with customising variants, there's a lot of potential there.

The most important part about all of this though is, there is no reason for people to be spazzing out over anons getting excited for the model kits. Like I said earlier anons are just posting about them a lot because they're a new thing from a relatively new company that is moving from strength to strength. Give it a couple weeks (like almost exactly two weeks at this point) and all the discussion will be about the new Mattel reveal.
>>
>>11906584
Mafex wipes the floor with Blokees, McFarlane, and Mattel. The detail, articulation, and sheer quality are head and shoulders above the rest. Blokees? They’re just cheap knockoffs trying to cash in on nostalgia while their figures fall apart in your hands. Pathetic!

As someone with European heritage, I take pride in craftsmanship, and let me tell you, Mafex figures feel like works of art. They don’t skimp on materials or design. Blokees can’t even compete; it’s like comparing a fine wine to watered-down piss. If you want your figures to stand out, Mafex is the only choice.

I’m not some AI parrot; anyone claiming that is just a Blokees simp trying to defend their trash. Get a grip, people! If you want quality DC action figures, ditch the wannabes and go for Mafex. Don’t waste your cash on the junk that Blokees pushes—it's an insult to collectors everywhere!
>>
>>11906587
Blokees has been around a while. And as I said, the conjejcture surrrounding statements like "Blokees look better than Mafex" comes off as shilling. I'm sorry. But it does. And then you have posts like >>11906582 CLEARLY being faciticous because they're butt mad or something that someone isn't creaming their pants over what is essentially a middle of the road model kit. Anyone who actually regularly builds kits can see that Blokees is a bit behind other companies like Bandai. And that's fine. If this line does get more people into actually building models than awesome. I love that. But, it just doesn't come off that way with a lot of the discussion around here. I'm sorry, but you can insist people are just excited for model kits, despite that not ever being the case ever in the past, but when you have spazzoids posting chatgpt posts like >>11906582 it just comes off as inorganic shilling. Sorry if that bugs you or makes you mad, but how I feel and nothing you can do will change my mind.

What's funny is these get shilled just as hard in the Marvel threads and I've NEVER once seen anyone actually post a Blokees kit they bought and assembled themselves. If they're so great, how come I only see a handful of actual in hand pics even in the dedicated Blokees general?

I mean, look how hard he's trying right now.

The Blokees has more sculpted detail by putting texture on the figure as opposed to the smooth plastic of the Mafex.

Last few I've had shipped over were under $100 and they were by themselves. But yeah, looking at Batgirl's price, it'll be about $105 with shipping, depending on the exchange rate at the time of shipping.
>>
>>11906592
>I mean, look how hard he's trying right now.
I'm not trying to shill for Blokees, I'm trying to post direct, objective comparison for the sake of having an honest discussion. My points are and always have been that people are just excited for the new thing, and that will pass, so getting annoyed about it, just turns the discussion from "the new Blokees look cool"
"They do, I'll probably grab one when it comes out" end.
To relentless back and forth shit-flinging.
And that even if the Blokees don't look quite as nice as the Mafex, they're pretty damn close and for the price it makes it a really solid substitute for people on a tighter budget, or would like to customise the figure without risking a 100 dollar figure.
>>
>>11906578
>They don't come with more accessories than their Mafex counterparts. In fact, they come with the same ones
Didn't say they did. I said more than most import lines for domestic prices. That they're doing the same amount of accessories as Mafex for a fraction of the price is impressive in itself.
>That Batman looks like a Marvel Legends and costs as much as one does too so I just really don't see what the huplah is about.
And people have wanted DC's answer to Legends for years now with the only choices being 1/10 McFarlanes and imports that are 3-4 times as much. People here were even hyped over Mattel's kids line because of that. Like the other anon mentioned, once we see Mattel's collector line that'll be the real test.

Not really sure what you're talking about as far as Selina. It's not like her body's particularly exaggerated like the revoltech, and if anything I think the Mafex may be slightly bustier. But finding it too stylized is fair. A lot of their previous kits fall into that range for me.
>>
>>11906596
>How can you guys not tell?
I can tell, I just wanted to talk about the texture. Because while it is objectively more detailed, I'm actually worried about handling it now. I can't stand how certain textures feel (like the plastic over lenticular pictures), so I'm concerned that playing with the completed kit will kinda suck.
Also I wish the Bat emblem was a separate piece that you plugged in, not just painted on so you don't get that outline. I actually wish all Batman figures (Superman too for that matter) used a separate coloured plastic piece for the chest emblem rather than just tampoes. I hate finding an older figure that I've been hunting only to find that the logo has been scratched off.

Yes blokees is inferior, mafex is still the much better figure but for the price it's a damn good fig. Anybody seething over a $20-30 figure not being better than the $100 import are absolute fucking morons.
People are excited for these because Mattel hasn't put out a new wave and we wont have news until October 8th, Mcfarlane is dead, we just got news that half their planned figs were cancelled so of fucking course the company actually releasing and announcing shit is getting the spotlight why is that such a fucking hard concept to grasp for autists here? >and have an airbrush (which the people who are most excited for models probably do)
most builders, even hardcore JP gunpla builders, don't have an airbrush. It's not really convenient to most people's available space(especially in Japan). There's a lot of options for markers and paint to give shading though, and easy tutorials for people to attempt so it's less daunting to get into.
I do get how having to do some work can be intimidating and some people prefer to have something remain stock.
>>
>>11906954
Some painters think airbrushes are for cheaters and cowards.
>>
>>11906587
Personally, I don't like painted on shading either on figures or movie costumes. It just looks like dirt to me(literally, not figuratively). The Mafex has more esthetically pleasing articulation cuts. I think the head/eyes look too far apart on the Mafex but the neck is too skinny on the Blokees. That said, I don't like Hush enough to buy either but I'll definitely get Catwoman at $20.

>>11907003
Given that there's a texture on the whole figure as shown >>11906593 I think a wash or some drybrushing would look better than airbrushed shading anyway. That said, the raw plastic does a great job of showing the details of the musculature anyway, I wonder how it'd look with just a simple matte coat on it.
I'd probably leave the blues alone though because they look kinda like leather, but a matte coat might make the cowl blend with the cloth cape better.

Hardcore JP builders have dedicated portable spray booths lol. Their problem is more about compressors being noisy than space. No one calls themselves a hardcore builder and uses markers lol. They're just snapshitters who don't realise how easy it is to get into spraying paint. Hell, even I got started just because I saw an anon in the gunpla thread using a wash-free airbrush and a handheld compressor. That setup costs less than MG kits
>>
>>11907146
oh i dont disagree with the statement, mafex is going the way of the doo doo with LPZZ EXISTENCE AT THE SAME PRICE, but here we are talking about blookee hush batman and blooke still got those awful proportions
>>
>>11907324
As someone who is deep in the Mafex Hush line, the main reason I've gone with them is because until some newer companies like LPZZ, and eventually Mattel, there wasn't really a decent 6in scale DC option other than Mafex. I've already committed to the line and I'm very happy with how they've all come out so I'll stick with the line for Bat family stuff and just supplement it with Mattel stuff to fill in the gaps. Like I for sure thought I'd be getting a Mattel Cassandra Cain to fill her spot on my shelf but then Mafex goes off and shows off a prototype for theirs. It'll take a while but I'll get the Mafex and know I'll be happy. That being said, stuff from LPZZ looks really good, not sure if I need another Hush Batman, but if they were to make a dog of say his current costume from the Matt Fraction run which is just different enough from Hush, that I'd get it. I dig the lighter blues artists are using with it.

You guys think Mattel will go back and do new Brave and the Bold figures, or just older iterations of the characters in general? That was the one thing I really did enjoy about McFarlane was doing the various version of all the characters from movies and shows and comics.
The original BATB line was really screwed up by that plug-in accessory gimmick. I'd just like to see specific versions of the characters, and not exclusively just paint variants like they're currently doing with the kids line.
>>
>>11907445

I mean, the Mafex is dead-on to Jim Lee's art of Hush Joker warts and all, which is exactly why I skipped it. If anything the Blokees headsculpt looks good because it looks like a generic Joker.
>>
>>11907337
The Mafex DC lineup is great overall, but I'm happy that I just cherry-picked releases of my personal faves like black Hush Batman or Knightfall Bane. Yeah, Mafex has really done pretty well in terms of DC characters, and are only continuing to grow their lineup. I can't wait for WW, Doomsday, and Barbara. It's nice that we're at least getting so many figs from those stories, and seemingly more. Can't wait to get Cassie Cain in two or three years. The wait sucks, but has always been worth it imo. They need to do a good Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Croc, and Clayface now. Croc and Clayface were in Hush so it's only a matter of time we get them considering they've done Bane and Doomsday now.
>>
>>11907520
Thanks for reminding me that I still want their Cassandra. I honestly never expected the line to go as far as her so it's cool to see them keep going. Personally I'd love to see a Long Halloween Two-Face.

>>
>>11907763
I wonder why Mafex doesn't make a huge volume of Batman figures though then, they know it will sell.
>>
>>11907767
They're probably not interested. They could easily talk these retailers into ordering a huge amount of their Hush Batmen/Supermen figures (I'm sure Warner would be thrilled) but they haven't. It could just be some legal reason.
>>
>>11907636
>they’re totally average Japanese action figures
Well to be fair in Japan they're like the equivalent of a Maximum Marvel Legends fig.
They just seem more premium because of the ridiculous mark up for non Japanese customers due to added tarrifs and import costs.
>>
>>11907767
Mafex/Medicom are a medium sized toy company, I don't think they can afford to manufacture a ton of figures
SH Figuarts is basically Hasbro/Mattel while Mafex is Mcfarlane, obviously those are massive oversimplifications but basically

>im not sure its old enough collectors will want it

This was when they were still attempting to be artistically faithful to exact images I the few DC trade collections they get translated which generally have a single artist. Superman doesn’t smile in Hush so there’s no smiling Superman panels in that to reference.
They’ve gotten more lax over that since the NML Batgirl isn’t an exact style match to any one artist on that book.
>>
>>11907821
Yeah and the peak of collectors spending are interested in 80s stuff for nostalgia. NECA’s attempted 90s nostalgia with Gargoyles and Mattel with street sharks and both bombed. The only 90s nostalgia toys that seem to sell are Power Rangers and Beast Wars, and even then earlier attempts at nostalgic revivals for them didn’t do that well.
And BTAS nostalgia toys only took off like 6 years ago since the first DC Collectibles line sort of stalled. And that series is like 17 years older than BATB
>>
>>11907905
>NECA’s attempted 90s nostalgia with Gargoyles and Mattel with street sharks and both bombed.
Well that's because the NECA figures were expensive, fragile, and they did that stupid fucking thing where they put the folded wings in with other characters as way of trying to force people to buy the whole line.
Street Sharks was never really that popular, and it didn't help that the newer figures were unpleasant to pose. The chomping gimmick worked great still, but the plastic they used for the pegs on the limbs was really flexible, so trying to twist a joint just resulted in twisting the peg and felt awful. Which bummed me the fuck out because I was on a big Street Sharks kick when they were coming out (I'd just spent ages tracking down some original figures) and I was really excited for the new line.
>>
>>11905134
>until they break

>>
>>11907908
>expensive, fragile, and they did that stupid fucking thing where they put the folded wings in with other characters as way of trying to force people to buy the whole line.
They weren't expensive, they aren't fragile, and if you were buying the characters you got extra stuff. It wasn't stupid at all and helped ease the cost of the new tooling for every character. The line was a huge success anyway, you got the whole main clan and main villain and army builder bots and Elisa. It's a solid collection.
>>
>>11907927
It's NECA, so it's fragile. Plenty of people mentioned that the wing connections would break, and making it so you HAVE to buy another figure to have the closed wings fucking sucked, not everyone wants to buy the whole line, some people just wanted Goliath.
>>
>>11907935
>so it's fragile.
No it's not.

And if you just want the wings you can sell off the other figure. Not everyone is an autist like you.
>>
>>11907935
They really aren't. The Gargoyle figures are pretty fucking sturdy, and anyone breaking the wing connections tend to be fat handed retards. But having seen how people talk in this thread, it's no surprise to me that people simply don't know how to handle toys.
>>
>>11907920
Blokees are made of mostly ABS. ABS becomes brittle over time, it's a ticking time bomb for breakage. Not to even include QC issues leading to imperfections.
>>
>>11907974
Crybaby
>>
>>11907971
>They really aren't. The Gargoyle figures are pretty fucking sturdy,
I will concede that Goliath did feel sturdier than most NECA, but I assembled him, I posed him and then I put him in the cabinet and never touched him again. I've been burned by NECA too many damn times and I'm not risking it with a figure from a franchise that gets fuck all in the way of figures.
That said, not including the alternate wings with him is a dick move.

First of all, not everything needs to be on display at once, have you never heard of storing things? Second, why would McFarlane of all things be the be all end all of DC toys? They aren't even that good, or readily available. Imports are unironically easier to get. And Thirdly, not everyone was buying into Toddslop. I, for one, only bought a handful of his figures and was disappointed in some way every fucking time. I'm looking forward to complimenting my Mafex collection with Mattel figures, as long as they're good enough. If not, then I'm sticking to Mafex and other imports.
>>
>>11908014
You can't store toys easily, they will become sticky from plasticizer not being allowed to off-gas normally. They pretty much should always be in open air to assure proper off-gassing.
>>
>>11907976
don't put your model kits outside
>>
>>11908025
I've had toys stored in totes since my literal childhood thirty years ago and they're fine. Some stuff did end up getting sticky but that was over the course of thirty years and it really depended on the plastic, like none of my Power of the Force II figures got sticky. And nothing I've purchased as an adult, outside of widespread QC issues, has gotten sticky, even the stuff I have stored in totes for close to a decade. To be fair though I do open and go through said totes pretty regularly when I want to pull out a figure, so that could help, but the only modern figure that I have that got sticky was Amazing Yamaguchi Iron Man and that was something that happened to literally every single one of the first release figures because of something with the metallic red paint they used, and that figure has literally never been stored in a tote, I've had that on a shelf in open air for the entire time I've had it.

Point is you can store your toys fine and that McFarlane's DC line isn't the be all end all toy line you are trying to claim they are.

I don't think McFarlane's DC line is be all and end all, but for someone who has little space left, it is the end. Because there is no room for another line.

Anecdotal experience of totes working out OK is not really enough to stake my collection on and throw them in totes. I have a tote from the 90s that caused stickiness needless to say.

Also another issue with tote storage is that paints can rub off on each other or lead to figures laying oddly in ways that cause softer plastic to warp over time. If you break out the totes and move figures around every 6 months or so sure these might be mitigated, though, but not all of us are going to do that and we'd rather keep the figures out and not have to worry about what is happening to stored figures.

And yes I know about the QC on metallic AY figures that can lead to stickiness. That is as you said something that will happen no matter how they are stored, but it's a different case with a different cause.

I think toy collecting in general is winding down, but it's got nothing to do with McFarlane and more to do with rising prices, artificial scarcity, QC issues, and just plain burnout. They could sell the stuff they no longer like, or again, just pack it up and put it in storage. Please tell me you guys at least are in a living situation where you can store your shit.

>Anecdotal experience of totes working out OK is not really enough to stake my collection on and throw them in totes. I have a tote from the 90s that caused stickiness needless to say.
I mean, you have hundreds of people who do this. Just air out the figures a few times a year and you should be fine. Like I said earlier, I venture into my totes pretty regularly to pull out or put back figures so maybe that's why it hasn't been a real issue for me.

>Also another issue with tote storage is that paints can rub off on each other or lead to figures laying oddly in ways that cause softer plastic to warp over time
I've had minimal paint rub but you can avoid this by wrapping your figures in something. i like tissue paper the most if I'm doing that. And in terms of plastic warpage, just be sure to stack the big guys on bottom and anyone with small lanky parts on top. That's what I do and I've had minimal issues.

>If you break out the totes and move figures around every 6 months or so sure these might be mitigated, though, but not all of us are going to do that and we'd rather keep the figures out and not have to worry about what is happening to stored figures.
Yeah I'm pulling out my totes and searching for figures every couple of weeks. Not necessarily to change up displays but I do photography and will grab various figures for that. You're making it out to be a WAY bigger deal than it is lmao. Glad I'm not this autistic.
>>
>>11908106
>Black plexiglass container with small breathing holes.
Take away the context and this is an extremely ominous sentence.
>>
>>11908107
I've all but bailed on Hasbro. I'm grabbing the new Raimi Goblin, and Proferssor Hulk and then I think I'm calling it quits on Marvel Legends, and there are currently no Star Wars characters on the horizon that tempt me.
>>
>>11908107
>>11908121
It's interesting, I sat down and really thought about the franchises I collect and I too seem to be slowing down in all but a few IPs. Like you, I have no SW characters on the horizon that I care about, my SW collection feels pretty complete to me. TMNT and Power Rangers, I haven't gotten stuff for in years, I still get GI Joe stuff but it's pretty sparse, and the only reason I've been getting new DBZ figures lately is because the Goku and Vegeta figures have been cheaper than the usual offerings, but once that's done I dunno if I'll be paying full import prices for SHF upgrades. I'm still pretty deep into Marvel Legends, I love Marvel comics stuff so they'll pretty much always get me, especially with stuff like recently releasing the Future Foundation and the upcoming David Aja styled Hawkguy. But I haven't bought a whole wave in years, it's always just two or three figs per wave, if that, like I'm skipping the Doomsday stuff. So I am slowing down a bit on Legends. TFs I have bouts where I don't get anything for years but then I'll get like half a dozen figures over the course of two months. It's weird.

DC is probably going to be my main focus if Mattel turns out to be something I like. I would love to have an extensive sized DCU collection comparative to my ML collection, but it's Mattel so I'm not holding my breath. We'll see in a couple of weeks.
>>
>>11908107
If I was going to sell I'd just slap them in a tote and let nature take them since it largely isn't worth the time it takes to sell the figures unless they're rarer imports.

>>11908107
I've severely cut back on McFarlane due to the fact they just aren't worth $35. They kept $20-$23 quality figures and now want to charge $35 for some and even $50-$60 for others without changing their engineering. If they started doing better quality engineering and fully painting the Elite Editions for $50-$60 then maybe they'd be justified. Something like Xesray is approaching being worth $50 for example. But a bog standard McFarlane that isn't even fully painted? They are going nuts over there. And they are selling in a way that McFarlane is either producing such limited quantities of the Elite Editions or people are falling for it.

>>11908115
>They could sell the stuff they no longer like, or again, just pack it up and put it in storage.
I already told you why storing stuff is viewed as a risk to me. I know I won't go back every 6 months and check everything so I'd basically just be abandoning those figures to plasticizing, warping, or other possible issues. A lot of the mcfarlane accessories warp even from gravity due to how soft them make them, let alone what would happen to them in storage. For you it works storing figures in totes since you open the totes frequently.
>>
>>11908126

This gives me hope we're still getting a decent Green Arrow fig before the line dies

Also I think there's one more vault wave so maybe it's a rerelease of black lantern superman?
>>
>>11908169
Didn't some leaker post an image and say that everything not on the image is canceled? I am doubting another Vault line is coming, especially since the Vault line that was supposed to ship in September still is unfulfilled at BBTS
>>

*Vault wave, that is

it died in the clearance aisle and canceled with multiple figures revealed never released

No it didn't. It ran its course, but having extra figures that didn't get released means jack shit. A twenty figure line for something like Gargoyles is excellent.

>>
>>11908178
to be fair BBTS is dogshit with releasing figs on time and figures don't have actual "release dates" like video games it's all estimates

But yes, I'm still hoping it's fake because there's only 2 figures from the surviving cull that I remotely care about and I just want once decent Green Arrow fig.
>>
>>11908250
I was hoping the kid's line would dish out lots of sprue-licious gadgeteer characters like Green Arrow, Hawkman, and Blue Beetle(Ted) but it looks like it is going to be a Batman and friends affair. Crazy how Todd never gave us normal versions of GA or Hawkman but 2 different Red Tornados.
>>
>>11908272
You haven't stated any facts, only your personal bias. You're unhinged.
>>
>>11908250
I dunno, in the past sure but BBTS has been pretty spot on this year at estimating the mcfarlanes I got. This Vault wave will be the first they are off on.

Pretty much the same. Waiting on a few more X-men 97 redos/restocks and will grudgingly pick up the Lara Croft, but that's about it from Hasbro. Star Wars, I've always kept a fairly small collection of a few characters from each era minus the sequels.

>>11908123
Yeah, I'm pretty burnt out on buying slight improvements of the same characters again and again. For DC, I held onto a lot of my DCD/DCC figures and just fudged in the slightly taller McFarlanes, so I don't see myself starting from scratch with Mattel's smaller scale unless they really blow me away.
>>
>>11908477
>will grudgingly pick up the Lara Croft
I'm grabbing Lara as well. I'm pissed that I probably won't be able to grab Action Man though.

This is a stupid meme with no basis in reality like disc rot. Either it was manufactured incorrectly in the first place or you're storing stuff in an oven.

>>11908587
Yeah, literally the only figures I've ever had the plasticizer issue with had been either sealed on cardbacks for 30+ years or those old Revoltech Evas that developed the problem anyway despite being out on the shelf.

In the case of the former I've simply washed it off with warm soapy water without it coming back.

so much of collecting these days just feels like upgrading what I thought was the definitive figure of a character I got like 10 years ago.
And often it just feels like a lateral upgrade where the older one did some things better or there's a ton of options with no single best one

The Mattel stuff is already looking a little too big to really scale. The DCUC era definitely couldn't. Bigger characters like Darkseid should be fine.

>Icons figs
I'd always heard the Icons figures were really fragile. I only ever bought Batman because the sculpt really is gorgeous (as are the figures from most of the line), and he is incredibly stiff. The plastic has this weird, dense spongy feel to it, and I feel like I'm gonna tear it every time I move a joint.
>>
>>11908700
>>11908709
>They told me I could no longer fly planes so I became a plane
Now that's just PLANE silly!
>>
>>11908749
Is it fully painted? That may be a result of the paint layer on top of the plastic.
>>
>>11908760
It is, but it feels deeper than that. Like it feels like the plastic itself is flexing, like how a dense rubber feels when you bend it.

Actually do anons ever consider the health ramifications of having plastic constantly off-gassing in their house? Though I suppose with how many things are made with synthetic fibres (carpets, furniture) maybe it's a moot point.
>>
>>11908798
We are all made of microplastics now. I am starting to become an action figure.
>>
>>11908798
Are you actually being serious right now anon? Your whole house is filled with plastic other than your little superheroes. You're leeching more plastic off of the food you keep in tupperware than you are from your toys. I personally have switched to glass tupper because of this.

I own 3 or 4. I own other DC Directs and they are all fine. One pin had to be replaced on a 20+ year old DCD and they are often stiff when I take them out for pictures or to dust but that's what the thrift store hair dryer is for.

I do and I have, in fact outside of VF's spamming, and like one or two other anons, I'm the only one in this thread (and probably the last three) that has actually posted toys and one of the few in general that has posted something that isn't Mafex, McFarlane, or Blokees.

Went ahead and put in some pre orders for the Blokees champion class Hush kits and for some reason I don't understand I added the Harley Quinn as well. If I don't cancel Harley then I'll likely add her to the random shelf, I just don't like lolrandumb version of her.

NT(other)A but yeah, totally feel this.
When that Page Puncher or Justice League Flash were released, plus one other had been teased, all in the space of say 6-10 months, I realized that I could do what that other anon did and just clean up the Titano 2PK.
Even tho Titano was a ZERO POA piece of plastic junk, I still wanted it. I did pick up the JL Flash, because it was MSRP and free shipped via Wally's
And that the last fucking mcfart I've been happy to buy.

>That's DC Essentials you have in your pic.
You're right, my mistake. I remember when Essentials came out, when did Icons release?
>>
>>11909348
Icons was the line that came out before Essentials. When they folded Icons they launched Essentials and everyone was mad because they switched to a 7in scale. People were initially complaining about Icons being too small to scale with stuff like Marvel Legends, since Icons were true 1/12 scale. DCC did listen to everyone's complaints and later releases were slightly larger. Then they just folded the line. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'll never not be salty they cancelled that last wave with the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold 2 and Jim Balent Catwoman.
>>
>>11909354
>Jim Balent Catwoman.
I feel like DC are kind of ashamed of Balent Catwoman, which is fucking stupid because yes, it's overtly sexy, but it also captures the feline femme fatale look so much better than anything that has come since. Throw a little green on there and it would be the perfect fusion of her first appearance outfit and the Newmar/Pfeiffer/BTAS design that made the character popular.

As you have been repeatedly told, DC Gen has not typically hit 100 images in a few years, even with Valley Forge spamming his fucking phantom lady or power girl stolen AI images or spamming stupid non-related (typically Star Trek or similar) DC toys, or the other garbage he often does to prop up his fucking threads.
Nothing DC toy related has hit 150 images, even right after a SDCC or similar reveal.
Jesus Fucking Christ, learn a new song.
>>
>>11910362
>As you have been repeatedly told, DC Gen has not typically hit 100 images in a few years,
So fucking what? As I have said repeatedly, even if the thread hits the bump limit, it'll be on the catalogue for a week at least, just suddenly abandoning the thread is fucking retarded, and it's double retarded when everyone abandons a perfectly viable thread to jump onto VF's spam threads. There are five DC generals on the catalogue right now for no fucking reason.
>>
>>11910367
>five DC generals on the catalogue

>>11910415
He's the guy who brought Mattel more into entertainment. Ellison wants to be in charge but has little actual experience and dad probably pushed on him a bit. Oracle has been well run and profitable for a long time and Larry has been the face of that even if he's not necessarily the actual architect.
But s lot of those suits have enough narcissism that, no matter shot like salary, they still want titles and credit.
You are reading way too much to think he will pay a lot of attention to the DC line. At most, it will mean that the consumer products VP will probably need to be more competent. They got rid of and lost some people a few years back and largely replaced them with idiots experienced with cookbooks, lifestyle brands, and the cable network DISCO shit. All those will be shitcanned.
I expect the new guy will care more about installing some people he's familiar with and David Ellison won't particularly care.
No idea why this would hurt or help DC. Definitely don't expect anyone who will want to do anything with mcfart.
>>
>>11910367
>even if the thread hits the bump limit, it'll be on the catalogue for a week at least
Look dude, I'm not actually disagreeing with you. MOTU just hit the IMAGE limit this week (and bump at least two weeks ago) and only has ONE other thread on the board.
But some autistic MOTU attention whore hasn't started on a new MOTU thread so that's part of the issue here. And will continue to be part of the problem until (a) he leaves/is banned, or (b) people ignore his shit
But you keep fixating on IMAGE limit.
That same MOTU thread is at somewhere like 450+ replies.
You are not wrong, just not focusing your comment as you just literally wrote on the mere hitting of the bump limit - which is clearly the attention whore's fixation.
>>

>Definitely don't expect anyone who will want to do anything with mcfart
This. I fully expect Todd to lose all his WB licenses
>>

I do like the '66 stuff.
It was part of my /toy/ secret santa haul last year. But only to pay $9-$12.99 for it - or what it's barely worth for its limits - not $29.99.
>>
>>11911177
I got confused because I thought you were talking about the show itself being bad. That said the figure in question is bigger and more articulated than the figures in the specific '66 line, so while I won't say that the price is "justified" it does make more sense.
