Should I buy the 3 in 1 Haunted House or the Halloween Manor? I lowkey prefer the simplicity and figures of the 3 in 1(plus the fact that it closes) but it does feel really low value for the price. It's hard to justify $90 for something that barebones and the cheapest ive caught on sale was $80

Lego Goku looks alright. Wish the shoe was fully around the foot and the tails didnt cut through the belt. Feel like they should have used the smaller legs to make Goku shorter. The longer torso also makes his proportions look odd.

She is basically tsundere to Harry and wants to have sex with him

They're using the "midi" legs for him. Lego has three (well, technically 4 if you want to count the long-ass Avatar legs) but they have the regular ones, and the short, un-articulated ones, and then set in between that is still articulated but not as long as the regular ones.

Surprised they give you all the dragon balls in a single set, I figured they would use the opportunity to do some gotta catch em all marketing having a single ball on each set to incentivize people to buy the whole wave
>>
>>11909396
>>11909412
Contrarianism doesn’t make you clever.
This set is pretty fucking well designed, I’d argue a touch boring by MOC design standards, but the same faggots that complain about this will buy the 400th star destroyer because the glup shitto has a new arsehole print.
>>
>>11909999
It's not like most of the parts are expensive. They mostly use common generic pieces in colors that are either still in production or were for a long enough time that there's a shitton of them around. Even the theme-exlusive prints like the slope bricks with the faction logo are quite cheap on bricklink.
The main issue would be the transparent quarter-dome pieces from the Ice Planet Base and M:Tron Mega Core Magnetizer (only produced in the right colors for those specific sets), the raised baseplate for the base, and some random pieces that for some reason are extremely rare, like the radar dish with Ice Planet logo or the trans neon orange version of the corner piece for the outward-bulging wall pieces common in many space themes.

The Links house sidebuild for example would be a nice $20 set. $25 and pop Saria in there with cool green hair and headband.
Could do a whole OoT Kokiri village modular lineup.
Lon Lon ranch set with a half dozen horses.
Hyrule castle. Lost woods. Forest temple. Temple of time. Death mountain. Lake Hylia. Gerudu Hideout. Desert temple.
There’s dozens of wonderful locations and probably a hundred different NPCs they could do. And that’s just ocarina.

this happens with most IP partner ups they do, because lego likes money. why make boomer nostalgia baits as digestible play sets when they can be unwieldy overpriced flagship sets? you want the whole gang from your cherished memento, right? better shell out. that's why there is no mention of 'kids' on the SpongeBob set, this is a sophisticated building product now. of 3-4 things that could have been $30 play sets.

100% it's Lego's decision. at this point. it's gotta be. I seriously don't think Wicked had enough influence to demand 10 sets, or Olivia Rodrigo. somebody at Lego is a fan of those things and made it happen. over Zelda? D&D?

that Batcave was 2016, 5 years later in 2021 Lego finally did pity set with Just-The-Batmobile. I'm still waiting on the pity Classic TV Series Catwoman set

to be fair, One Piece is an example of a theme that WAS split up into several sets. but at the same time it's very frustrating-ly, carefully, manipulatively designed to require you buy all the sets to get everything you'd want. (and even then, it's still missing stuff to make it complete, so you'll need MORE in the future!?)
>>
>>11911058
>but at the same time it's very frustrating-ly, carefully, manipulatively designed to require you buy all the sets to get everything you'd want

Not really, they actually included all the crew from that point in time with the best set, the Going Merry. They could have separated them into several sets and screw everyone over but they didn't, so this theme is one of the few Lego actually did correctly.

>>
>>11911061
>they actually included all the crew from that point in time with the best set, the Going Merry. They could have separated them into several sets and screw everyone over
$140 is a lot of money. there is no other option for getting the main freaking character. Luffy NOT wearing his hat doesn't count, and they know it. everyone was still screwed over.

you think everyone would have wanted the Luffy's Straw Hat Crew Ship (? lol inconsistency!) set anyway, but I'm still not in the place where I can afford a $140 Lego set. it seems very reasonable that Lego could have split up the crew among smaller sets, that would have totaled less than $140 once all combined. maybe leaving a rare costume/outfit for the expensive sets. not the main guy of the whole show

take Chopper. in the $30 set, he has not-neutral facial expressions. you need to spend dat hundred buckaroos to get the "better" Chopper. Lego knows this, it's why they did it.
>>
>>11909595
Kek true.
The huge schizo reply you got from him confirms it.
>>
>>11911154
>you think everyone would have wanted the Luffy's Straw Hat Crew Ship (? lol inconsistency!) set anyway, but I'm still not in the place where I can afford a $140 Lego set. it seems very reasonable that Lego could have split up the crew among smaller sets, that would have totaled less than $140 once all combined. maybe leaving a rare costume/outfit for the expensive sets. not the main guy of the whole show

I disagree. Getting a bunch of random small sets I don't care about just to get all the characters is not ideal at all, even if the total is less than 140 you're still paying for subpar sets just to get some minifigures. It sucks but Lego has always been an expensive hobby, if you don't have enough money just wait, save little by little and treat yourself to a great set instead of spending it in a bunch of worse, cheaper sets. Most people into One Piece would want the iconic ship before anything else anyways.

And the Luffy hat thing is autism. It would have been ideal to include both options in any set including Luffy, but at the end of the day you either get him with his hat on his head or on his back, both of wich are iconic looks for him.

Playmobil "plays" a lot like display slop Lego. for example, you can take a cowboy and put it in a spaceship. simililar to how you can do that with Lego. just that with Playmobil you don't have to build the sets out of small blocks

Which of the BDP submissions for wave 1 - 2028 are your favorites? For me it's Secrets of Shangri-La. It imidiatly reminded me of that level in Uncharted 2. Plus Adventures has not been covered in any BDP set so far. I think it would be far more interesting than yet another light gray castle.

So far, the only ones that stand out to me are the Esperanza and the Japanese canal town.

Which is kind of funny, because the Esperanza is designed by the same guy who made the Frigate Fortuna, and the guy who designed the Japanese Canal Town is the same guy who made the Sushi Restaurant, both from series 7, and those are two of only four BDP sets I have ever bought.

I'd probably get both of these too.

wow. I come here and complain a lot, so it's only fair that I praise Lego for offering Pokemon Trainer guy keychains right off the bat. sure you gotta remove that metal bit and it's glued together, but you can kinda have the real minifigure without spending the $300!

also Laugh My Ash Off, dats the Emperor from the $1000 Death Star. right there on that keychain.

and Dragon guy from that D&D set people were hoarding

c'mon, Lego... where's my Picard keychain?! Make it so!

I was able to get two copies on sale at Target for $76. Here's my WIP for a Haunted Mansion that I hammered out last night. I'm combining 2x 40260, 2x 70420, 2x 31167, and 70425. Working on cemetery next.
>>
>>11912696
>so butthurt about one hat piece
it's not so much about me getting a hat piece, it's about calling out Lego's awful set design decisions. Luffy is the main character for crying out loud. would they sell Darth Vader but not have his lightsaber except in the $140 set? here's a set with Captain America but his shield he can hold is in the $140 boat but this shield fits on his back for $55. both are iconic looks for Captain America
>>

Nice. I plan on doing something similar. Hidden side was another line that had a dumb app gimmick, but I think the line had some really neat set designs and stuff. I wish we could get another proper spooky/monster theme.

Tonight's progress. The cemetery has reached a point of 'completion'. I wanted a larger footprint, but I'm concerned that I'm running out of dark tan plates for the mansion itself.

The vault is directly lifted from 70420, both because it looks good and I wanted to keep the play feature of finding the skeleton key.

hat-with-hair was a mistake
yes, it does look better
but now, all hats-without-hair (most of them) make the characters look bald, especially if they are included in sets with hat-hair

it's too late to go back. now Lego needs to re-do all hats to have hair under them (??!!) good luck getting the hairstyle you want, under the hat you want, with the right color hair and the right color hat. that's 3 things multiplied exponentially, what a nightmare.

There are seven new minifigures for October, pic related. They had all of them in the Build a minifigure station, along with the three Halloween figure parts (Zombie girl, Frankenstein monster, and the wolf costume girl) but they came out last month. However, they were selling them as pre-built last month, so I already got them, they just seemingly threw the parts in the BaM station this month too.

I just want to get a bunch of the pirate guys, since it seems so rare to get much official pirate stuff.

Why do these corpos never let their 'compromise' subsidize their original vision? Right now, there is a distinct customer base for Lego original IP's. They are likely smaller than the customer base that purchases licensed sets.

But we live in an era where Lego is no longer struggling. They reported recently their largest profit margin ever. So the licensed sets work. Now, use the money from those successes to subsidize limited wave releases for originals like Adventurers or whatever. They don't have to stock shelves or have mass appeal, just sell them online.

But every company does this. They enact a compromise, appeal to the lowest common denominator, and then nothing ever reciprocates, alienating the original customer base.

Aren't fans of licensed shit sick of getting the same concepts released over and over?

Shenron's head/face looks really off and Goku's eyes and lack of wristband are super weird. The DBs would probably be cooler if they were transparent too. Shenron's body looks amazing though. I love it. His face (and Goku's) are probably easy enough to fix so overall I'm happy with it. Pretty excited to see Freeza's ship, the Kame House and Porunga.

It think it looks great given the scale, and also see it as it being legofied, hence the dot eyes. Also he didn't even have angular eyes until what was called Z in the anime, too.

Go ahead, I never saw it but someone on a thread a year or so back suggested the idea and I just ran with it. I thought changing the arm color would be enough but trust me, the hips don't lie. It's just five pieces but it makes such a massive difference. I also made a small crew, every color space suit is individualized, not just departments. I have my own story idea I'm using it for. A small team of space explorers made it to Mars and found ruins there of an ancient alien empire. The empire collapsed a million years ago and since then every colony world was left to fend for itself. So all the various green alien minifigs from Alien Conquest and the CMFs are all branches of the same species on different worlds. Mars was the cute little guys that came with the City wave, but the next world had the Oreeons, and one of them joined the crew. She's really just my own version of Tendi from Lower Decks.

Anyone with half a brain figured this was inevitable after mario tested the waters with brick built critter blind bags. If they keep the scale with existing pokemon figures than I can't imagine any substantial pokemon with the part count the brickbuilt blind bags have

I def like the side intake of the old one more.
That lifeguard ring is not enough to imitate that huge hole that's suppose to be there

But otherwise damn good design. I would've loved this batmobile to come out alone because locking this car into a double car pack is annoying.

Whats the final consensus on how lego handled the pokemon license in 2026 and will 2027 be better? Keep in mind the only sets available worldwide were 18+ sets because all smart play shit was locked in only 6 regions (though that might change next year)

>Whats the final consensus on how lego handled the pokemon license in 2026
you could write a whole novel on how Lego (tried to? succeeded in?) milking MAX BUCKS out of Pokemon fans by only offering the most expensive sets, manipulated (dumb) Smart Brick desirability by including it for double-prices, made a ridiculous basketball-sized Pokeball only so they could include the minifigs at a $300 price point...

and you can't blame them, because Lego needs maximum dollar-dollar-bills-yo. on some level... good for them. I can't afford a $650 set, but...

also in that book would be chapters on how Mega Bloks already did Pokemon, but a lot better, and the only thing Mega Bloks DID NOT do was Minifigs, because that's the thing Lego has locked-down. and guess what Lego did not do??? Minifigs! (except, like I said, at the $300 price point ugh)

it took Lego like 7 years to make Mario Minifigs like everybody wanted, so eventually Pokemon might get there, too. Lego's already blown the "not-possiblitiy" of CMF-style trainers with tiny minifig-scaled molds, they do it all the time with the CMF figures including unique pets. they could EASILY do that type of thing.

thanks for listening to my podcast

Pretty much. But like I said, I also included some minifigs from Alien Conquest and even Galaxy Patrol. I even included that 3-in-1 space mining mech. I like to think that was a peice of tech left when the empire colapsed and just left behind on Mars. Using it the explorers make quantum leaps in their understanding of space travel though the tech it has. Also I worked out a story element where there are two crystals they are searching for. The purple crystals are proccessed into batteries, the green crystals are used for computer chips essentially. They allow for much more advanced AI, which is needed to navigate the greater cosmos. I liked the idea from Final Space where an AI is needed to run a ship, making the ship a character all it's own.

They could get away charging $15.99 for a Pokemon Trainer CMF line. The selling point would be that each comes with a pokeball and a unique pokemon sculpt piece, like the Pikachu and Evee in the $300 set. Then just make the trainers from recycled parts and call it a day. The minifigs are just there so it isn't 100% obvious they are charging $15.99 for a tiny piece of plastic. If they really wanted to push it, they would put different pokeballs with each trainer. Hyberball, superball, masterball, and whatever else they came up with. I'm an oldfag so I gave up after Red and Blue.

anything over say... $8... and I'd want some bricks with it, even if it's just a small scene to pose them in.

just a Minifig with muh-molded-pokemon in a ball seems like worth $8. (even though Lego does CMF figures with molded unique animals constantly, for only $5...)

that's me, personally. it's clear that Lego could probably charge $20 each, for only a figure and tiny plastic thing, and still sell gazillions... probably

dat epic Spidey scene

it's odd that the Fantastic 4 tower is there since it's from like, a different universe, or whatever

just such an odd mix of MCU with some non-MCU stuff? I think? it's confusing. I know they wanted to get Minifig Galactus but he'd still be bigger in this scene

the fact that we had 2 anakin podracers sold alone, but never a single sabulba one is criminal.

I already bought an anakin speeder, I don't need the double set with his and sabulba's. Release Sabulba's podracer alone goddang it.

I actually thought of designing a similar micro-scale diorama for Lego Ideas, but if this small thing is $100 dollar, and what I'm working on is like 10x bigger (not just a row of houses, but an actual diorama), I don't think lego would ever produce it.

Largest room in the front will be a dining room, which folds out so you can access the front hallway and foyer. The far room will be a kitchen. I hope to have a play feature where minifigs fall from the second floor into a prison cell where they're prepped for cooking

we've been over this before. all it takes is like 1 or 2 people per The Lego Store to perpetuate insane huge sets.

the margins are so vast between "actual cost to produce/ship/etc" and "price it sells for" especially if The Lego Store gets profits directly to Lego (as opposed to like, Walmart, which has to mark the sets up themselves, to make Walmart profits)

one or two rich cool people. thank them for this nonsense.

also, is that a scene from Spider Man Far From Home?

Lego Ideas announced a new challenge to make a Star Wars x Marvel crossover set, it's split in 3 parts with creating a crossover character, a vehicle or scene. Winner(s) will get the project(s) to be made into real set(s). There are also two rumoured lego star wars x marvel sets coming in late 2027, Iron Falcon is rumoured to be one of them so don't waste time to make that. The Ideas project(s) will most likely release around 2028 after they are approved. Also apparently you are allowed only A New Hope characters for this crossover from Star Wars side.

why do they do this? to create resentment among the customers when they "pick" ridiculous things?

Lego already knows what they want to do, why try and "blame" this on muh-contest-submissions? "hey, y'all wanted a $800 set, you voted for it!" (contest rigged all along to produce $800 set)
>>

>>
>>11920707
the D&D set was a disaster, to be blamed on muh-fans-vote

-way too big (Lego needs dat $360 price point!)
-just a couple of characters
-not a single dice included?
-no customizing concept, the core of D&D is making your own stuff up, not a single thing in that set gave that experience, despite being LEGO which should also encourage customizing. so it should have been exponential creations, but had none, instead. Lego JUST MADE table tennis and Women's Soccer Team sets with extra character heads/wigs and a whole Farrell Williams set with a million more heads. nah you get this guy in D&D why make your own?

b-but it's what the fans voted for!

>Dice
Impossible to make usable brick built ones, apart from a D6. It would have been cool to get a set of real LEGO themed ones though, and I don't think it's beyond the pale that if they were including a campaign book they could have thrown in this as well.
>no customizing concept
You know normally I would call you a fag and tell you just to swap some fucking parts (note that none of the bodies show skin for this exact reason), but yeah, this is D&D and there should be some variety. I actually WOULD expect some extra heads, bodies, hats and weapons to make all kinds of characters, but you should know by now that this is LEGO, and that they do not respect you and do not care about what 'You' want, they know they have to shovel out half baked garbage and that you will buy it like a good little consumer, and that if you don't enough other good whales WILL that whatever they make will be profitable.

Personally I said 'fuck this gay shit', grabbed a couple of each CFM from that wave and proceeded to make dozens of my own adventurers from their pieces and my own collection. There is actually no reason to get that set for the minis, and as a guy here conclusively proved the castle can easily be replicated far cheaper with pieces you already own.
