I'm so tired of DC toys being based on Jim Lee's art, the house style and main art on promo material being Jim Lee's, DC Online being designed by Jim Lee, the entire company being run by Jim Lee and spamming nothing but Jim Lee.

An updated Super Lois figure or All Star Superman set with Luthor would be cool, but DC is run by someone who has giant posters of his art all over the office headquarters and wants everything they do to somehow pay homage to his work.

But then, it's been the Jim Lee Show for so long that DC doesn't really have anything iconic or different besides the Absolute stuff. I have a feeling that's part of why those books are so popular, because they have absolutely nothing to do with Jim Lee's vision and it's pretty clear is way more successful than they expected. I don't even like Absolute but I like that it isn't Jim Lee.
>>
>>11915110
The number of dollar signs imply if it's a pricey item. Seems like it will be. Pretty sure a Chronicles figure is $$, so this is probably a deluxe Absolute Batman if that other tease that was sent to youtubers is to be believed (there was a picture of Absolute Bats). The amount of Absolute Batmen has been unreal.
>>
>>11915120
Oh god it is gonna be fucking Absolute Batman isn't it? Why do people even like that design and book? Holy fuck. You guys complain about Hugh all you want, but at least it can be used as basic, evergreen Batman characters. I don't need more Bat wank though. I watched the first episodes of Lanterns, and while I have my problems with it, it did put me in the mood to re-read some Geoff Johns GL. Hadn't read that shit in over a decade. Just finished up with Secret Origin and forgot just how much it foretold would happen during the urn. Hopefully Mattel won't wait too long to give us a good Hal. I have the Icons and the Mezco and they're both kinda crappy now for various reasons.

Don't waste your time with Lanterns. John doesn't put on the ring and fly until the last scene of the last episode. Just watch the Guy scenes on youtube, he's the only one who wears a ring and a costume and does Lantern stuff. You never see the Guardians or any of the aliens, you never see Oa, Hal is relentlessly shit on, John is delusional and thinks birds are watching him. It's bad. It's so bad.

John Stewart will forever be saddled with this show among the larger normalfag public just like Hal is saddled with the Reynolds movie. There is no hope for these characters going forward. For those that didn't watch the cartoons or read the comics, this is their horrifying introduction to a character that otherwise should be respectable. How sad.

Nah John will always be the JLU version with a deep confident voice. Most people don't remember there's a Steel movie with Shaq, or any of those old Marvel movies. The good stuff sticks around, the forgettable garbage like the Watchmen show just disappears.

I fucking love the Steel movie with Shaq by the way.

I like the Superman movie because it's different from the Snyder stuff, but this guy is starting to piss me off in new ways. He wasted eight hours of my life with the Lanterns show, like straight up, "maybe next week someone will put on a ring and do something." Stop fucking around on twitter and get back to work on Superman 2.

I'm assuming they'll be Elite Editions, so he'll stagger them either monthly or biweekly. The $70 Darkseid pack and $60 Bane haven't sold out yet, so there's a limit on the bigger ticket items people are willing to go for. Especially since they're paying shipping and tax on top of the $50 price tag.
Elite Tomb Raider was last week, and NYCC is this weekend so Absolute Bats will go up this week, then next week will probably be Elite Witchblade or something, then some more Elite Helldivers, then Elite Absolute Supes or Wondy. That seems like the most logical rotation and would time the last release to go up in December.
I'm just speculating and all three could go up as Gamestop exclusives tomorrow at 7:34am.
>>
VF really likes talking to himself.
>>
>>11915209
Originally in the leaks there were supposed to be normal versions of all 3 and only Batman was supposed to have an elite version, but given how McFarlane Toys has decided to skyrocket prices I wouldn't be surprised if they try this.

I don't have a Cavill Superman and this is kind of like a dark edgy Superman that's doing all the same things the Snyder suit wanted to do, but better. If it's a $25 figure I'll go for it just because it's a neat design, but if it's an Elite then I won't bother. I'm a sucker for metallic Supermen figures and am kinda bummed we never got a shiny McFarlane classic Supes.

The boots and gloves look like shit on Todds, but whoever's doing this figure with the clear bits looks siiiiiiiick as hell.

I don't care about the story. Metallic suit with a weird Spawn cape and glowing Eradicator gloves is a yes yes yes.
>>
>>11915116
The only thing I take issue with Hush is that we can't get a traditional smiling Superman because of it, but that's the maker's choice, really, it's one more faceplate and they always skimp on it.
I might still pick it up to custom it into a Mighty Bomb Jack, though.

>>
>>11916196
Unironically this is all I want. I could hit every pose I need to with this. The only characters I’d need with butterflies would be flash and nightwing
>>
>>11916223
I hope not. Even with all the articulation it had, Icons still felt limited in its posing because of the way they engineered some of those joints. I had issues with my classic Aquaman's torso cracking open from the pressure of moving that torso crunch and ended up having to glue it back together. Mattel's recent output for He-Man feel far more sturdy by comparison, so I would hope that's essentially what we'll be getting for DC.
>>
>>11916231
Different era of plastic and once again I’m talking about the mid tier line. Hopefully the ultimate line is like Motu chronicles
>>
>>11916239
MOTU Chronicles is $27. Make the DC line the same at $27 bucks. Or I don't buy either DC or Marvel figures going forward.

>>
>>11916347
because you are getting more ripped off on “collector” figures than you want to admit

My Batman and Cat Woman blokees finally came in and I spent like 3 hours putting them together. Batman wasn't too bad, getting the cape on was the worst part but putting together Catwoman was excruciating. Some parts are fucking microscopic and snapping some of her smallest parts together was so annoying.
But overall now that they're complete they do look quite nice. I can't wait for Superman and Joker now.
>>
>>11916381
>>
Less than 24hrs

See you on the other side brothers
>>
>>11916347
Part of it is part count. Figures with more points of articulation have more individual parts per figure. It costs money to produce the tooling and the molds for those parts. That's where the majority of the cost comes from, creating the tooling and molds. More parts, equals more molds. More molds equal higher prices. It's not rocket science. Does that account for the entirety of the discrepancy? No, the rest comes from the fact that companies know that retarded faggots like you and I will always pay them for another Batman or Superman action figure.
>>
>>11916435
Oops, I think you forgot to include a reaction pic.
>>
>>11916445
Not him but here's the thing: there isn't THAT big a difference in piece count from those vs MLs to justify a jump from 13 to 27. Especially since some MLs skimp on articulation still, like some female figures missing waist cuts or that Elsa Bloodstone with single jointed elbows.

I do think some of what they are doing with the low price is trying to draw buyers into the line to hook them and then they will tank the paint and quality later. Most lines seem to do this. They start off looking like a bigger value, then they cheap out. MOTU Masterverse originally had double jointed elbows on female figures and then moved to single jointed later as a small example.
>>
>>11916473
>Not him but here's the thing: there isn't THAT big a difference in piece count from those vs MLs to justify a jump from 13 to 27.
I'm aware, that's why I only said it was part of it. The other part being corps know they can charge just about whatever they want and retards will still pay them, me included.

>>11916473
>I do think some of what they are doing with the low price is trying to draw buyers into the line to hook them and then they will tank the paint and quality later
That certainly could be something they're doing with the Core line. Make it an easy entry point for people with it's low price, but then entice people who want more with higher priced, more robust offerings. Bandai does it with Dragon Ball SHF figures pretty regularly now. They'll release a fairly basic Goku or Vegeta or something for like $35, make it available at Target and Walmart to get people to impulse buy them, then, after they get a couple of different Goku and Vegeta forms they then want a Frieza or a Cell or a Beerus for them to fight, and then they'll need Gohan and Piccolo to go help them out, but then they're making the Ginyu Force and holy shit I 'member those guys they were great! And all of a sudden you're 10 pre-orders deep at $80 a pop. It's a smart business model and I wouldn't be shocked if Mattel wasn't doing something similar by releasing the Core class stuff first, enticing people and getting them hyped up for the collector stuff. I for one, would've had far less confidence in what they were doing for the collector line if I didn't have the chance to grab one of the Core figures and see that for $13, it's a pretty good toy.

Yeah GameStop gets their stuff personally delivered by Todd or something. When the shipment of Killing Joke Jokers and Page Punchers Supergirls was allegedly stolen by Somalian pirates, only GameStop got their shipment, and it was coincidentally right after the co-founder of McFarlane Toys bought GameStop.
GameStop and BBTS are probably the safest places to order from, plus BBTS sorts out the regular and the chase variants. They probably got pissed at all the returned variants they were getting back with no regulars to ship out, so they were losing money on shipping and burning customers so I think they had a big bad talk with Todd about fucking people around and that shit stopped immediately. BBTS has been fulfilling all my McFarlane orders lately.

IGN just revealed the first premium figure. Batman Hush Diorama. $100.

>It's hardly surprising that Mattel would choose Batman of all characters to kick off the DC Premium line. This particular figure is based on the 2002-03 storyline Batman: Hush and the artwork of Jim Lee. It features no fewer than 34 points of articulation, so you should be able to get some very dynamic superhero poses out of it.

>This isn't a standard action figure release, however. It's a larger bundle that includes a rooftop diorama base and a light-up Bat-Signal accessory. The figure also includes a posable, wired fabric cape and interchangeable hands.

So this particular set is just a hard sell for me personally, but holy shit it looks great, and $100 for all that isn't terrible imo. Can't wait to see what the regular releases look like, give me Lanterns, some Flashes and I'll be a happy boy.

I think Batman looks solid, better than the average ML, but it's also pretty cookie cutter, especially after Chronicles features import style joints and the elbows and knees, lower neck articulation, ball joint wrists, etc.

Mystery prices aside my issue is distribution
Are we forced to used their shitty mattel creations site with absurdly high shipping that even puts MTS to shame to secure a figure or will they be at all the usual places day 1? We bitched about MTS but honestly with their constant $10/$20 off and MTS10 coupons it honestly wasn't as bad as people say it was.

As of now their distribution is fucking dogshit, their premier figs are technically sold online but they're either all out of stock or their prices are marked up to as high as $20.

I'm already dreading seeing a character I like locked behind a $100 fisherprice playset, exclusive to mattels site and sold out because of scalpers.

>What makes mattel think that anyone would buy their legend-tier hush batman when this one is coming out?
if it's priced around 25-30 then many will happily get it because it will in their local stores and not have to import or deal with BBTS
>>
>>11917633
Imports also often do pseudobutterflies like Todd's
>>
>>11917410
>especially after Chronicles features import style joints and the elbows and knees, lower neck articulation, ball joint wrists
They aren't all that great, though. Mattel is still gonna Mattel.

>limited range due to all the bad joint designs
Same with their Chronicles line. Pay nearly 3 times the price of Core for ankle articulation.

We got dc legends with wired capes and balls at the waist and they’ll be priced like wwe elites. Complain all you want I won.

>DC Premier $12.99
>DC Legacy $24.99
>DC Ultimate $35.99

>$30 for a blokees kit if you don't already have a Batman
>$18 for a bat signal toy
>$5 for enough foam to make little rooftops until the end of time

There is no sane reason to spend $100 on that set. The backdrop is just cardboard. Just make your own and it'll actually have room for more than one figure.
As expected, Mattel's opening move is lame and for braindead hoarders with more money than sense.

I don't do toy photography so I don't care for getting charged more for wired capes or toe joints, toss that shit to the bin. let clout chasers pay more for gimmicks and leave the collectors alone.
>>
blokees are not action figures
>>

a fact collectors choose to forget when talking about action figures

what the hell is the point of making AI images that don't even look like what Mattel will put out? Joints and sculpt are different. Stop.
>>
>>11917685
>butterfly shoulders that won't work due to no range
>legs struggle to get into any pose. The thigh is already stretching the waist part
>rubbery waists are back, just like Todd's figs
>Ugly torso joint
Is that a win? Literally almost anything is better than McFarlane but these don't look any better than the crap Hasbo is shitting out.

That's Mattel for you. I think it looks okay other than the sculpt being off but I'm not sure what you guys were expecting.

They could have improved on Hasbro's ML at least a little. The elbow and knee joints like Chronicles, better sculpting. These look exactly like ML. This sculpt even looks more simplified and smoother. No wrinkles or much detail at all. Chronicles has almost all unique sculpts, much more detail, improved joints.

Have they announced a price? These will prob be $27 which is where the standard Hasbro fig is now too. They didn't raise the price of Marvel yet. SW just went up to $30 tho.
