what an awful display from mattel
>>
>>11918217
He looks very bored, staring awkwardly at the camera. But at least he has a wired cape and no pins.
>>
The Mattel Hal Figure is pure sex and I will be buying him day one
>>
Hasbro is more destroyed by this than McFarlane due to all the wired capes. How will Hasbro compete with this? They can't offer wired capes at $28
>>
>>11918238
is over, sell the marvel master license to todd while they still can
>>
>>11918232
Still better that what McFarlane Toys what out.
>>
>black suit
>earth 2
we just can't have a superman
>>
>>11918238
>They can't offer wired capes at $28
>He thinks Mattel legacy figs will be $28
Oh honey it's fucking over, the era of $20-$29 figs is over. everything is getting more expensive and by the time this line releases they'll need to be at least $30. I hope you have enough to afford them with the impending $10 gas
>>
>>11918245
This is what moldbrain posters say.
>>
>>11918238
Hasbro has the marvel community by the balls
Mattel actually has to try since DCfags have options with all the high quality figures we got coming now
>>
I read that UPF Absolute Batman got delayed, is that true?
>>
>no classic flash
>no martian man hunter
>no Aquaman
>no phantom lady
This line is DoA, Mattel might as well start selling off the DC license while they can.
>>
>>11918217
Well I'm sold on Absolute Wave but it's probably one kind of deal. There just not enough prominent characters to fill second. Green Arrow? Zatanna? Some Batman enemies? Another Batman?
>>
stop talking to yourself
>>
>>11918256
They just need to stop making toys for a while. People have too many already and it'd be good for us to have a break.
>>
Are there any pictures of All in Flash or Absolute Flash's face? Some of the face sculpts are decent but some like Superman are ugly.
>>
How come The Mighty Endowed STILL hasn’t been made into a toy yet? I think /ctg/ will rejoice when she gets made into an action figure.
>>
>>11918249
Legacy isn't Ultimate, right? Legacy is just the midline, so it should be 25-28 as they said it would be comparable to other Mattel stuff out now. Chronicles is 27 and WWE midline is 25
>>

Damn he looks good
>>
>>11918275
Nobody here buys wwe figs so nobody here knows the prices despite it being out there but yes legacy is the mid level line
>>
>>11918277
the bright colors are weird.
>>
>>11918280
I went to Mattel Creations and WWE Elite (midline) is 25. WWE Ultimate is 36.
>>
>>11918284
Good.
>>
Their character choices are pretty boring and standard. One normal Iconic Look wing since it's evergreen and then one edgy Absolute wing since it's selling well now.
>>
>>11918257
Doesn't need to be a full wave, can be sprinkled around like any other non Prime Earth variant. Batman will likely have an ultimate version with a bunch of accessories. There are lots of green lanterns (and other colors), Martian Manhunter, the ones you mentioned. Joker could make for a BAF.
>>
I’m so happy. Yall niggers gay.
>>
>>11918293
So those are probably the prices then
>$13 for premier
>$25 for Legacy
>$35 for ultimate
Not bad I guess, basically Mcfarlane prices
>>
>>11918315
Me too
All the doomers don’t buy toys anyway

>>
>>11918357
That flare out is part of the design. Look at Wonder Woman and all the other figures faggot
>>
>>11918357
is vac-metal paint back on the menu?
>>
>>11918385
wait nope just realized you can see through the visor
>>
So apparently there are 5 figures per wave.

Wave 1:
Absolute Batman
Absolute Catwoman (with boobs)
Absolute Catwoman (army builder) (no boobs but has gun) (no BaF piece)
Absolute Flash
Absolute Hawkman
BaF: Absolute Bane

Wave 2:
Superman (Black Suit)
Superman (Earth 2) (no BaF piece)
Green Lanthern
Wonder Woman
Black Lighning
BaF: Mongul
>>
absolute series feels like a industry plant. can we please just get normal figs
>>
>>11918400
Wave 3 so far
>all in flash
>fraction Batman
>fraction Robin
>john Stewart
>>
>>11918400
You're telling me 4 figures for a whole BAF? That certainly changes my enthusiasm to a lot higher. If it was 6+ waves I'd feel less of a need to get characters i might be interested in, but at only 4 I can see myself grabbing most.

And that means anon in the last thread about Absolute Supes and WW was lying and we'll more than likely get another Absolute wave with them in it.
>>
>>11918404
>absolute series feels like a industry plant.
I mean it's Scott Snyder, the same guy who created Batman Who Laughs and Dark Knight Metal. Ever since New 52, DC's been milking his stuff as far back as Court of Owls.
>>
>>11918406
>You're telling me 4 figures for a whole BAF?
That would actually make sense when compared to the Mongul wave but damn, I would've much preferred Absolute WW and Supes over Flash and Hawkman but I guess they had to space out the heavy-hitters across different waves.
>>
Rippin and roarin but I don't need it
>>
>>11918411
I wasn’t lying I was going off of what I was seeing and later concluded all the baf pieces were on display
>>
>>11918363
I think its a bit too small even for regular Bane. His head is not small in comic book, its regular sized in a huge ass body
>>
>>11918419
This head is regular sized (maybe a bit bigger), see Bane's next to Batman. >>11918072
>>
>>11918416
Not the anon who said you were lying >>11918406. I actually figured you were just doing your best to guess the figures for the Bane BAF wave when I asked last thread, so no harm done.

He's always been Latino, unless it's Tom Hardy who mistook Bane's origins in the Carribean as being Romani/Gypsy.
>>
>>11918432
4 figure BaFs make these worth it to me. I was ready to skip wave 2 but it's a strong wave on its own and get a big Mongul. These aren't as nice as they could be, but if these are actually 25 they're honestly a steal compared to the competition.
>>
>>11918442
I recall some of Mattel's last couple of DC Multiverse waves only had 4 figure BAF waves, so them keeping that is pretty nice and it's definitely incentivizing me to get a full wave.
>>
>>11918432
Well now I have some hope for TMNT license with this guys.
>>
>>11918445
That plus the wired capes is really making this feel like a line with bang for your buck.

Also I was expecting name leaks, but I'm surprised images leaked so quickly/soon after. Based on last thread and a now deleted post, sounds like it was just someone that wasnt paying attention to what they were allowed to post. Would be nice if we had a few other close ups though.
>>
>>11918450

>>

>>
>>11918455
>really making this feel like a line with bang for your buck

>>
>>11918404
Absolute is selling well. That is why all figure companies are anxious to make it. You just are out of touch with what people view as good comics now. They want a world that reflects the one they see daily, a corrupt horrific world they must constantly resist.
>>
>>11918482
Make them feel worth it? Is that better? They don't mean the same thing but maybe that's simpler for you.
>>
>>11918478
UPF/Inart is cool and all but they are probably don't go deep into absolute universe. You will get your obligatory Batman, Superman and WW of course. They also will make Bane, Crock and Catwoman. But Flash? Hawkman? Don't think so.
Price is also critical point there. I'll definitly get their high-end overdesigned Batman. And probably Wonder Woman because she's clearly will be sexier than any western company can do her. Maybe Sups because clear arms and legs looks fucking cool. But with big and background characters I will stick with cheap Mattel.

It's interesting how inart's stuff is all just redesigned arbitrarily, but some of it definitely looks good. Upf is going fully accurate, so if one wants a high end version of these looks thats probably the play. For me who likes the look but not enough to spend hundred plus, Mattel's offerings look great.

False, the ultimates had the same premise and failed. Same with the new Midnight marvel. They are all tranifa stuff like you describe.

Wave 1 is such hogshit. Honestly worse than Dark Knights Metal. And I don’t even like Hush Batman, he’s one of the gayest versions.
>>
>>11918400
Better than that dogshit Dark Metal
>>
huh?That's it?

Literally looks like the kiddy line but with more articulation. Cheapo as fuck looking. Everything is so smooth looking and we all know it's because they're going to re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reuse these bodies for the next 5 years.

Also, Hush Batman looks like it's an Andy Kubert Batman, Not Jim Lee. Even Mafex did a better job and they 're pretty mediocre.
>>
>>11918400
Meh. While I'm glad they ended up showing more than Batman and the roof, I'm not seeing anything that makes me feel the need to go from DCC/DCMV's 1/10 to Mattel's 1/12 so far. The BAFs look good though and only making you buy 4 figures is smart.

On another note, are the Absolute comics worth reading or is it just style over substance?
>>
I won't be getting any of these figures, but I think they look okay, so I'm happy for anons that like them. My thing I just can't understand is how, in general, America is just so archaic when it comes to articulation design. It's like they just don't progress, they don't know how to learn from Chinese figures. Look at what Storm Arena, 52Toys, LaDo Toys etc. can do in a similar price range, why is Mattel starting a brand new line, with bucks they will reuse over and over again, that have barely any ab crunch, no wrist balls, limited head movement and no fucking butterfly joints? I just can't comprehend it, spend the expense on R&D now for the base body and you reap the rewards for your entire line.

It's the same with Hasbro, McFarlane, Neca, they all just completely stagnate with utterly outdated articulation, yet spend money on completely new moulds, the perfect time to actually innovate. I just don't understand. They can't even properly engineer the joints they do use, to the point people have normalised shaving excess plastic away, it's insane.
>>
>>11918630
I tried the Wonder Woman one and it was beyond abysmal, unreadable shit, I don't know if the others are better.

What about that bothers you? If you mean because they are more expensive, it's only by a small amount and they are basically the equivalent in China. They also all have vastly more paint, use higher quality materials and come with more accessories, so I'm not expecting Mattel in their price range to match them on those fronts, I unserstand Mattel is going for a lower tier market, it's specifically the articulation I'm talking about. I mean Jada are a decent example of being closer to the minimum I'd expect, priced about the same as a Hasbro or a Mattel, but are much better articulated, have more paint (albeit not the sharpest), yet are still a lower quality compared to their Chinese equivalents, but at least they try.

>>

tastes change and evolve, people saw imports not having pins and started wanting pinless figures for a smoother look and some western brands started doing that and now it's basically a sight of a cheaper figure and really outdated, much like Todd himself

I swear the Absolute series is a psyop, some social experiment, there is no way people like these designs, I refuse to believe it. It's got to be one of the most aesthetically dogshit things I've ever seen, it's like Battleborn or something.

I will buy ww and supes. You are overlooking that Mattel has been making brighter colored figures and not necessarily fully painted ones. Mattel's Abs Superman may not look as well painted given the stuff they have shown so far are bright solid colors besides the $100 Hush BM. Same for Abs Wonder Woman. If Mattel had shown those 2 off they could've grabbed some Todd sales by showing they would look right.

So is Elite WItchblade. Did she always have a gold bodysuit? I remember her being mostly naked.
Brandon Routh Supes is back in stock on Amazon right now.
I'm holding for Absolute Supes and Star Sapphire plus anything else that comes up. Is McFarlane running a panel this weekend?
>>
>>11919392
Elite Witchblade is the tame new look. Not really a fan of it. For a good version of the original design I might've bit, but they lost me with this prudish new look.

McFarlane had a short panel today on their youtube channel but didn't show much of anything that I could tell beyond what we already know of. Hopefully they will just spill the beans shortly on what else is getting released so we know what is coming and what got canceled.
>>
>>11919396
Yeah same. I never read any Witchblade but the art was always cool. I thought it was a Bernstein Bears moment and the early digital coloring that looked like skin was actually gold the whole time.
I'd buy an Aphrodite IX figure if Todd keeps going. I never read any of these comics either but this ad was in like every comic back in the day and she'd be a cool toy.

I have the Inart Arkham Origins Batman and the LPZZ Arkham Knight Batman and I will say that Inart has better, more realistic and seemingly more consistent face paint, though. Like I haven't seen too many posts about Inart figures looking like they went through a chimney. If only they scaled better.
>>
>>11919406
There was a livestream today and the guy that works at inart said that origins batman and deathstroke were a mistake and that all figures moving forward will have a consistent scale.
>>
>>11919429
The decision was a mistake? Or a mistake was made somewhere in the manufacturing process? That's a hell of a mistake.
>>
>>11919401
Nobody cares
>>
>>11919434
I think it was after the feedback they received, a lot of people complained that origins was too big so he said they do not want to repeat that mistake. It's sad because they said they are done with origins (for now) but on the bright side they said they are not done with arkham in general. It would have been cool to see origins firefly but maybe lpzz will it.

Ok but most of us have been buying imports of years, the only people I ever see complain about pins are marvel legends collectors having to cope with paying 30$ for the same spiderman figure for the 100th time.
The first figure I ever bought was an shf gohan but not once have I looked at a marvel legends and thought they were in the same bracket.
The sign of a cheap outdated figure is gummy legs, hand hinges, and the entire figure being more glossy than my oily forehead 15 years ago. but you won't see those cum dumps talk about that because it isn't something hasbro is selling you.
Don't get me wrong fuck todd and his stupid fucking knee sculpts but it's sculpting and scale that should be criticized not fucking pins.

That was my mindset with the entirety of McFarlane. I just didn't buy it. But at the same time, just because you and I don't like something, doesn't mean that someone else shouldn't either. Some people liked their McFarts. That's fine. I'm not autistic enough to let it bother me.

This is another reason why I didn't buy into McFarlane. I have plenty of toys from toylines that have long ended, still on display in my collection. Even with older figures, like Icons, I can still mix them in with my collection, although with these new Mattel figs, It might be time to replace a few of them. You idiots are looking at this entirely wrong. This means you have more options to spend LESS money. For example you want to put together Justice League for your shelf, you love Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, but you don't really care about Flash, Martian Manhunter, or Wonder Woman. You can get the Ultimate Batman with all the accessories because you love that character, you can get the Legacy Superman because you like the character but don't need the extras, and you can get the rest from the Premier line because they just need to fill out the team so you pay less for the character you need but aren't as invested in.
Or if you don't like it, then just don't fucking buying. Why do you people always act like someone is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to empty your wallet? and then sit their complaining? There are always gonna be toys based on DC Comics, you can just skip this and either wait for something in future or buy old stuff that's going for cheap.
>>
>>11920087
The character was created during NU52 and is supposed to be an alternate dimension version of Superman who is the heroic son of Zod that came to Earth instead of Kal-El.
It was around the same time when there were a lot of articles trying to push the "is it time for a black Superman?" the whole thing was a painfully obvious marketing scheme where they could try and make a black-led Superman and try to undercut people complaining about race-swapping the character by just saying "well ackshually it's not Kal-El but a totally new character, so we didn't ackshually race-swap Superman."

they're definitely going to sell you the same figure in two lines with accessories spread out between 3 releases. just like when Jada released a recolored Ken with an extra effect piece, effectively railroading you to buy three figures just so both Kens can have a shoryuken. why should the Premier line exist when there's a Legacy and Ultimate series. Imagine if some characters are exclusive to one line. half of the league would have butterflies and toe joints and the rest don't because they expect you to mix and match the mid tier with the kids line.

>Or if you don't like it, then just don't fucking buying
just because people can see the bigger picture doesn't mean you have to normalize apathy.

He isn't. He's going to take infinity preorders up until 11:59 on December 31st and then get stuff made and delivered through the next 6 months.

DC Direct's Icons line were nearly perfect, without even trying to look like they came out of the comic.
McFarlane should have dusted off the prototypes and put them into production just because

I wouldn't be surprised if people do sell off their shit, given how retarded of consumers collectors are. You see it all the time on /toy/, where if a line dies, they immediately start selling off their shit.
They only care about buying NEW shit. They don't actually care about the characters or toys themselves, so they don't want to keep them around to display or play with them.
You also see it all the time with anime figures, because once a tv series ends or enough time has passed, flavor of the month owners start selling off their Figuarts/Figma/Revoltech.

And I'm happy they're such consumer whores, because i've been able to buy lines/figures that used to be expensive on ebay for nearly half the price they used to go for when the line was new/active

There's no guarantee they still had the tools. The tooling might've gone to Hong Kong bay.

Were tools even made though? It might have been canceled before they got to that stage.

And i doubt any tools were stolen, given how McFarlane still had access to stuff that was even older. DC Direct wasn't canned long enough for their storage to have gotten raided or dumped. McFarlane picked them up almost immediately, before they stopped production.

... and now i wonder where all of DC Direct's stuff will go now that Mattel is supposedly in charge of collector lines.
Fuck Mattel, because now comic perfect stuff won't be made anymore. They can't even do Jim LEe right, instead sculpting Andy Kubert Batman by mistake

>why should the Premier line exist when there's a Legacy and Ultimate series.
Because the Premier line is a cheap line for kids. Having the option to use the cheaper figures to fill out team rosters of the characters you aren't as invested in is a good option.

Took this picture today, it seems target is already starting to clearance and phase out there mcfarlane DC figures. Ive already noticed walmarts around me not replenishing their DC multiverse stock either. Seems like its the beginning of the end.
