Salute to the madlad that posted this in the thread.
The leaks look OK, main duds are the Gobots and Machine Wars Megatron, they just look dull. I'd rather have had Windsheer or BWII Thrust as the first use of the MW Megs mould. Also they coloured him like Megaplex.
Constructicons look great though and hyped for Lugnut and Scorponok.

>Treating literal AI Slop made up shit as if it's remotely genuine "leaks"
Are we this desperate for hopium?
>>
>>11927231
Its just a shitty AI mock up for retailers. The actual figures probably won't look like this at all. This is a whole lot of nothing.
>>
Whole line looks like shit, just a bunch of trash from Mark's autistic """sandbox""".

Lugnut is the only one that looks even remotely good and that's cuz he's mostly accurate to the show and not Mark's shitty fanfiction.
>>
>>11927239
That's an AI Lugnut, anon. A facsimile of what it *might* look like
>>
>>11927214
what in the
is that a profoundly asymmetrical transformation, or does it have six wheels? the forearms don't look like they match.
>>
>>11927209
Looking at this Barricade I just realised the previous version reused the mould from Prowl and Bluestreak. I wonder if they will reuse this Barricade mould to make a new Prowl and Bluestreak?
>>
>>11927216
and the t-rex head isnt even close to consistent.
>>
>>11927239
What do you faggots even want? These are shitty AI mockups but the mainline is going to have a decent mix of G2, new characters, and basically no G1. Nightbird, Scorponok, and Mirage are the ONLY G1 character in the entire first wave. And Nightbird isn't a traditional G1 character. Scorponok is also the IDW version and a pre-tool for an Energon version of the character.
>>
>>11927246
I want more figures from the Unicron Trilogy. Cybertron mostly. Jetfire, Optimus and Landmine are my most wanted.
>>
>>11927248
But they're doing that too. They're finishing off the main Armada Decepticons next year.
>>
>>11927246

>>
>>11927246

>>

>>
>>11927262

>>
>>11927207
>>11927236
>>11927237
Well apparently the leaks are real, TFW had a shit storm around it, deleting any mentions to 'protect' the guy whose name is watermarked all over them and JTPrime the most credible leaker we have has all but confirmed these were the pics he had been reliant on for the past few months. It's just that Hasbro were willing to use AI just to make something presentable to stores and retailers.
That SG colored Reactivate Optimus is definitely a pic taken from the internet though.
>>
>>11927273
One thing I've wondered about for a while is BMII Megatron. How can it be a combiner and a Kingdom retool? The Kingdom Megatron most certainly can not transform into an arm for a combiner. If JTPrime has just been going off these TMII Megatron is probably just based on the Kingdom mold for the AI mockup. It just never made sense for TMII Megatron to be an arm and a reused mold.
>>
>>11927231
Where are you seeing higher res versions of these leaks? And are they genuinely these leaks at a higher res, or just pics where someone fed the blurry images into AI and asked for higher res
pics, meaning the AI just made up a bunch more details?

>>11927238
According to the leaker, three of the figures shown (Collapse, Machine Wars Megatron, and Gobots Megatron) are based on actual CADs for these figures. But yeah, the rest are mock ups and probably made with crappy AI.
>>
>>11927277
The new Transmetal 1 Megatron is supposedly remolded from the regular T-Rex Megatron from Kingdom, not the TM2 dragon. That said, you're right that it doesn't make sense for it to be a reuse of that mold AND be able to combine. Either it's gotta have some incredibly extensive new tooling, or Jtprime might have some of his info confused one way or the other.
>>
I just hope this kills the lil' gay leaker club. I'd rather see new toys when they reveal them.
>>
>>11927289
I meant to call it TM I Megatron I just had a brainfart and mixed the two up. But still it doesn't make sense for it to be a reused mold. It would be remolded to the point it has to be a new mold. It probably doesn't look like that at all.
>>
>>11927291
I just want to go back to the days leakers just posted toy catalogs and retail listings anonymously instead of attention whoring in gay little discord clubs.
>>
>>11927291
While I prefer hearing about the leaks (it makes it a lot easier to plan ahead and budget for purchases), the main problem is the people doing the leaking. On the one hand, you have Jtprime who has repeatedly made a big deal about "retiring" from leaking only to keep continuing anyway because apparently the attention from leaking alone isn't enough without frequent retrospective appreciation, and then you have Nune who is so insufferable that I'd rather stop getting leaks altogether if it means that little neo-pronoun weirdo doesn't get to go on any more little power trips. But apparently it's too much to ask that the leakers behave like normal, well-adjusted human beings.

>>
>>11927309
its an AI mockup and we've been told its a retool apparently based on this mockup but it doesn't make sense for it to be a retool of Kingdom Megatron and a combiner so the reality is who the fuck knows.

Technically TM Megatron is the right arm, torso and thighs of the combined mode. At least going off on that AI mock-up.

Hey, you wouldn't happen to be interested in a G1 Overlord, would you?

>Not the Superlink version
Man fuck this shit. Energon or Superlink Scorponok needed a new toy so badly, especially when the original had a design flaw on the shoulder hinges. Such a cool fucking design but all we're getting is a downsized G1 Scorponok but made more muscular that is bordering on 3rd party.

>>
>>11927325
Its way more likely JTPrime was just talking out his ass and made assumptions based on the AI mockup being similar and swapping the hand and head for combiner purposes. Though an Abarenoh-esque tail hand would have been way cooler.
>>
>>11927234
To be fair, TM1 Megatron is the forgotten middle child of the three versions of Megatron from the Beast Wars cartoon between TM2 and the original Barney the Dinosaur looking ass.
At least TM1 Megs is getting a new toy at all, unlike the original croc Megs from the initial wave of BW toys, that was strangely absent from the cartoon... for some reason.

He actually spends the majority of the cartoon as a TM1; the entirety of S2 and most of S3. I'd argue it's his most iconic look.
>>
>>11927337
I think its a Leader. I feel like it should be at least as bulky as the SS86 Dinobots. I love my RTS Lugnut but I have high hopes for this figure. Kind of hoping we get a Cyberverse Clobber to pair with him. I feel like they'd make a really good pair since she was supposed to be him initially.

Season 1 is as long as S2 and S3 put together, you're the only one who's going to argue that.

As a big Marvel G1 enjoyer I've been wanting a good Thunderwing for ages. So why the fuck is he mostly black when his legs and jet mode are white on the original? Hope this is just the result of Sloppa but the general design idea looks nice

>Nightbird
Feels like a redone version of Legacy Elita 1, strong pass for me
>Mirage
This shit kinda looks good. Floppy waist aside I've been using Classics Mirage for 20 years now, hopefully this is the one that actually hits the landing.
>MW Megatron
Megaplex is the obvious repaint, but give me a RID2001 Windsheer and a retool into MW Thunderacracker/Skywarp and their repaints. BW2 repaints never ever, Robot Masters repaints SUPER Never Ever
>Gobots Megatron
Yep, that certainly looks like a blocky car dude.
>Collapse/Hydraulic
I fuck with the idea of more Constructicons, If there is some sort of compatibility with SS86 Devastator that'd be cool, but if there their own combiner that'd be cool too.
>>11927212
Again, big Marvel G1 chud here so I'm all fr a Leader-scale G1 Scorponok. I get where the Energon-enjoyers are coming from, but this is what I've been wanting for ages.

>>11927218
Yawn.

I don't think the Voyagers have been teased yet, but the fact that there's only a single Autobot in the first wave of releases is kind of crazy to me. I'm looking forward to a good chunk of these (Thunderwing, Lugnut, Scorponok, Barricade, MW Megs, the Constructicons) but wish we got actual images.
>>
>>11927336
TM1 Megatron is the worst of the three when it comes to being a toy because it suffers from GPS. I honestly forgot he didn't have a T-Rex head arm because the other two designs have beast head arms. Also I grabbed my Kingdom Megatron off the shelf and based on the picture pretty much every part on that figure would be new. The legs are new, the head is new, the shell is new (and redone because Kingdom Megatron has an awful backpack of dinosaur skin TM1 Megatron would not have), the tail is new. There's basically nothing on that figure that wouldn't be new tooling. I think it might just share a similar silhouette instead of being a perfect recreation of the classic design. That's if the AI slop even looks like the final figure.
>>
>>11927358
actually the backpack is the one part of the transformation that would be the same. Not in the original toys, but Kingdom's torso and thigh parts rearrange basically identically to TM1's
>>
>>11927356
>I fuck with the idea of more Constructicons, If there is some sort of compatibility with SS86 Devastator that'd be cool, but if there their own combiner that'd be cool too.
One of them is allegedly supposed to be a weaponizer that forms a weapon for SS86 Devastator but I forget which one. I want Hydraulic to turn into a big ass hammer.
>>
>>11927365
how would the handle work
>>
Thundercracker (ko) arrived today, now I've got 2/3. I never had a classics Skywarp so if that one doesn't arrive next I'll be sad.
>>
>>11927366
Long flip out 5mm pegs would be fine. Though SS86 Devastator would really struggle to hold something like that.

>>
>>11927374

>>
>>11927370

>>
>>11927380
I feel like I talk to robots all day online now. I never know which if you faggots is real.
>>
>>11927349
Not that anon but TM Megatron is his most remembered look just by the fact that his best episodes are all in that form, something anyone who actually remembers the show will tell you. Not only that but it's also widely regarded as the best design of the three. So no, the transmetal looks aren't "the forgotten middle child" at all.
>>
>>11927370
Even a year or two ago I was seeing AI slop transformers. Not being used as fakes yet though. But yes, AI sloppers will crawl into every corner of the internet because they worship it and believe it will bring them fame and money.
>>
>>11927377
i hear you, matey. hammers are cool
transformers have always had a really complicated history with melee weapons for a bunch of reasons
>wrist joints are, at best, usually a swivel, so there's no great way to wield a sword
>weapons traditionally plug into hands and, ideally, don't pop out the bottom (often, they can't, due to kibble) so you're typically stuck holding the thing by the very end, like Luke in the original Star Wars awardly gripping his lightsaber like he was massaging its balls.
>even if the handle can go clean through, or piece together once in the hand, or whatever, you still have a limited number of gripping spots. you can't choke-up or whatever.
there's a reason Ops and Megs and the movieformers just turned their hands INTO weapons.

Hasbro: Let's finally do the 13 Primes and make them a hodge podge of their appearances from various media also some sort of incentive to collect them all.

Hasbro: Let's finally put Megatron in the spotlight and do a bunch of decepticons and have Megatron combining with himself instead of finishing teams or character groups we can delegate some of those to studio series or something. Oh yeah we gotta do something for the 20th anniversary of the 2007 movie.

Keep in mind that the AI mock-up of the combined mode for all the Megatrons was made by a fan (still using AI, of course) after the real leaks came out today. That said, it appears to be based on a description the TFW leakers gave of what the combined mode is supposed to look like, from the placement of all the components to the head having some sort of crown.

I see what you guys are cooking here, but I think it might be a little more difficult to pull off an interesting combiner of just Optimus Primes since so many of the big name versions of the character are very similar, just with different design aesthetics, whereas Megatron toys tend to be far more varied. For an Oops-All-Optimuses combiner, after the token G1 and beast era figures, you'd probably have to resort to deeper cuts like Machine Wars Optimus or G2's unreleased "General" Optimus. Otherwise, you're gonna end up with a combiner made up almost entirely of red trucks.

No, anons have a point. Megatron has been the one most varied in designs while Optimus is the most consistent. Making the Megatron combiner be filled with a dinosaur, a car, a jet and a tank while the Optimus combiner is mostly trucks is keeping it in theme with the two characters, One for All and All are One.

>>11927506
Nah, you're not thinking like Hasbro anon. Grand Convoy won't be gimped, they'll just release him in Commander Class with his trailer but without the drones so that he'll be in budget without 'compromise'. And then they'll make 3-4 additional Optimus Primes in the same toyline that can transform into limbs and combine with Grand Convoy to make a new Optimus Maximus to rival the Megatron combiner we're getting. AND THEN they'll make the drones separately, turning them into weaponizers that can combine with Grand Convoy just as usual or be taken apart and weaponize other bots.

I dunno man, an AI placeholder would have at least kept some part of the actual Energon design in it. But instead what we got is pure G1 Scorponok, either the AI model they use is really dumb and is unable to replicate even a fraction of Energon Scorponok or the AI placeholder is close enough to the actual design of the toy which as we can see is G1 Scorponok. And also listing names can change, lest we forget that there was going to be a 2nd reissue of Legacy Armada Megatron until it got changed into Megazarak

So, it looks like the mistake about it being energon-coded was because they made the leg flared out
which is likely because of anime styled figures, blokees, and third party figures being used in the AI generation, and interpreting the hip skirs as the gray thigh canons energon has.
However, There are a couple of things in this leak that are actual cad models, with AI spoofing the finished paint.
This might be the case for scorponok as he's unusually detailed and symettrical.

The "IDW" element he mentioned most likely comes from the upper claw region, which in G1 was not a separate section, but was in IDW.

This was a cool figure, but losing he big bomber arms always felt like a downgrade to me. It's also kinda weird they chose not to make him anywhere close to purple. I get they were trying to do movie "realism" but at least a grey-purple tone might've worked.
Still, I like it way more than Takara's which was just kinda gaudy looking. Rare case of Hasbro doing it better, especially since United was full of amazing decoes. More urple, sure, but the purple head is less Animated faithful, and the light gold/ beige color was ugly.

perhaps it's the difficulty in giving him decent wings when his bombs become arms, and perhaps it's because there's no logic to bombs being arms, since.. he'd have to be able to detach them and explode them, right?

It's more than just "a slight amount of detail." That Lugnut figure, as great as it was, is absolutely not in the traditional CHUG aesthetic. He came out during the Reveal the Shield line which was about half CHUG figures, and half Bayverse-style figures continuing on from where the Hunt for the Decepticons line left off. Some of the Bay-influenced toys from this included Mindset, Fallback, Deep Dive, Chopsaw, and Strafe. As for Lugnut himself, he always felt like an adaptation of an Animated design translated into a live action movie aesthetic. Like many of the toys of characters who didn't actually appear in the movies, he doesn't go super overboard into the Bayverse aesthetic, and actually maintains some resemblance to the character he's based on. Again, he's a great toy, so I don't mean this as any slight against him, but he definitely ain't in the CHUG aesthetic, and it's because of much more than just a little bit of detail.

Bayformers has a VERY distinct and particular aesthetic. Lugnut does not fit the mold of that particular aesthetic. The head is too clean, the sculpted details are even and symmetrical. I don't think you remember what the CHUG figures looked like which in actuality was just the aesthetic of contemporary mecha. Generations Perceptor has similar details as well.
Bayformers goes all in on making faces plated, hyper mechanical details like multiple pistons and divets and parts are typically made out of multiple pieces to emphasise the fact they're more alien. Lugnut leans far closer to contemporary mecha. I see what people mean when people say that transformers fans have a very pigeon holed understanding of their franchise and it's influences. People see a figure with more detail and yell "Bayformers" or see something flat and yell "G1" instead of actually understanding the intent.

>Mindset, Fallback, Deep Dive, Chopsaw, and Strafe.
This is like saying that figures like that Jazz that were released in the same toyline were "Bayformers" not to mention these are all repaints from the prior toyline (Note that Lugnut got a United release and the rest didn't)

Strong disagree. Always hated the washed-out colors of the Hasbro version. I love super robots and I agree with this but as an owner of the Liokaiser Haslab I still think the flying guys heads are still a tad too small. It's even more noticeable because you're going to see the full team together most of the time and the other three have bigger heads, specially Jallguar. The inconsistency makes it more jarring.

I mean compared to classics, which had a mix of realistic vehicles and vaguely Sci-fi/futuristic ones like Hot Rod(yes I know of the Dome Zero), Jetfire or Megatron. You know what? it doesn't matter, the reality Transmetal megatron is a beloved appearance for the character. Sure, he may not be as iconic as his season 1 appearance, but he's a DAMN SIGHT more iconic than the stupid Dragon Megatron , who got his own mold (and retarded hasbro didn't even have the half a brain cell to repaint it as Cryotek)

making TM Megatron out of the Kingdom mold just goes to show how cheap Hasbro has become. Because it just doesn't work. The T-Rex head is NOT part of his arms in the Transmetal mode. Like, the Tail, I can overlook, because he wields it as a lance/whip/blaster in the show. But that T-Rex head isn't even supposed to be VISIBLE in robot mode

I kinda suspect someone at HasTak really pushed for the dino head/tail look since the TM2 and Beast machines version both had it. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why this one has it too.
I hold out some hope that they'll eventually revisit the BW Transmetals in a Kingdom style line. Kingdom wasn't a BW anniversary so these decisions are random sometimes.

>I do not understand why so many beastformers have shrunken beast heads lately.
It's done so that they don't take up a massive amount of space in robot mode. Remember that the show cheated a lot by making parts change size as characters transformed; the original toys, on the other hand, tended to look a bit awkward in robot mode because of how big those heads were. Take Airazor's original toy here as an example - the bird head looks proportionate in Beast Mode, but it takes up her entire upper torso and juts WAY too far off of her body in robot mode; the show made the bird head flatten out and shrink a bit so that she actually had a visible upper torso. Modern Transformers toys tend to prioritize the robot mode over the alt mode, so the best way to make her robot mode look accurate to the show was to shrink the beast head. Primal, Megatron, Silverbolt, Tigatron, and even Magmatron and Filch all ended up in a similar situation for the same reason - the heads were too big in robot mode and either hindered articulation (Megatron's and Magmatron's dino heads) or would have interfered with the ability to completely hide away for the robot mode transformation (Primal and Silverbolt). The two Rathalos Primes also suffer from this - they wanted to prioritize the "Optimus Prime in Rathalos Armor" look more than the actual Rathalos form, so they got comically tiny heads (and stubby tails); it also doesn't help that the Kingdom Airazor mold was a poor choice for a Rathalos retool to begin with.

yes but, in each case, the head SHOULD take up more space in robot mode. So that makes no sense. Your argument's just wrong. airazor's original toy's chest looks perfect, and that's how it was in the show. the new one has to create little.. sides-of-a-torso for the head to snuggle in between.
in every single example you mentioned, bigger beast mode head would have looked better.. except the MH one, yeah, that was doomed from the start.

though I think Tigatron's head was fine. Silverbolt also.. well, he had a tiny head in the show and original toy anyway, so i'm okay with it, but it's pushing it.

It was flattened in robot mode so it didn't jut six feet in front of her like it did on the toy, and the shape actually changed to conform to her entire upper torso instead of having it cover the whole thing. The same thing happened with Cheetor and Tigatron - the toy heads stuck out so far the characters realistically wouldn't have been able to reach around them, so the show models shrank and flattened them; the modern toys can't pull that kind of voodoo, so they just settled for making the heads small overall so they'd be less obtrusive.
>>
>>11928544
the top of a falcon's head is flat, just like it was in the toy. At most, you could recess it into the body a little, which would simply require a better hinge or a deeper hole.
I'm okay with Kingdom's choice for the cat chests, though Cheetor could have used some fake torso expansion like Airazor got.

I feel I need to repeat this, they did not make cheetor or tigatron's beast heads unusually small. Those are the right sizes. Although some tigers get fluffier and thicker around the neck, for sure, and Tigatron IDEALLY is one of those.

i've seen this mold a million times, but I had no idea it was so comely.. literally only issues in robot mode are the tiny hands, popeye forearms, and the dragon claws just hanging off. Badass.

Just so long as they don't doom them to an eventual degradation into glitter by using vacmetal bits like the originals.

Iirc, the little tie-in comic that came with him had this be his original body back at the end of the Autobot/Decepticon war; his failed attempt to seize control in the power vacuum had him shipped off to a maximum security prison, where he was forcibly downgraded into the ICBM tank body he has when he gets released and starts working as a thug for Cryotek. So he goes from two-headed red dragon, to ICBM tank, to purple T-Rex, to metallic purple T-Rex, to one-headed red dragon, to completely organic wolf/lindwurm, to giant floating head, to disembodied spark, to a Diagnostic Drone, and finally to Optimal Optimus minus the ape mode. That's a total of 9 bodies excluding his stint as just a Spark; I think that's a record for most bodies used by a single incarnation of a given character.
>>11928568
I own the Devil Gigatron version of that mold - the robot hands aren't as small as they look here, it's just that his forearms are massive due to having to fit both a pair of dragon feet and a pair of functioning wheels on them.
>>

>>11928569
I doubt they'd have the budget for vacmetal anyway. Tigerhawk and TM2 Megatron clearly show they're not considering it for Transmetals.
>>11928573
Yeah the backstory is pretty convoluted, I guess you can see it as his TM2 power up sort of restoring aspects of his original body.
That said I got so used to thinking of it as TM3 Megatron it's hard to shake off. In my head he's a post-Beast Machines Megatron who got wrapped up in the Universe battles and stole a dead Gigatron's body and made it his own. Fights Universe Optimus Primal. I just like to think they're still out fighting somewhere.
>>
>>11928573
Beast Machines is a hell of a drug
>>
I really want an updated Crumplezone but I just don't think it'll ever happen. I guess a Ransack to go with him would be nice too but I just really love Crumplezone. I never owned the original toy is it worth it?
>>
>>11928585
>I guess you can see it as his TM2 power up sort of restoring aspects of his original body.
I mean, it kinda makes sense - everyone who became a TM2 (other than Cheetor) basically died and came back to life; in Megatron's case, Tarantulas killed him by punting him into the lava, and he was basically reborn as his old self (or something close to it - that Botcon body even has a one-headed dragon mode mixed in there).
>>
>>11928586
I think Beast Machines could have been okay if the writers had handled the concept better. Like Silverbolt being mentally broken from his time as Jetstorm is a fine concept but they don't execute it well. Same with Primal going a bit off rails. I think that's fine in theory, I do like how Cheetor challenges him and begins to step up and push back, but the show also kind of justifies Primal's viewpoint a bit too much. I think Rattrap feeling useless is a great idea too but the writers didn't know how to characterize him.

On the toy front the aesthetic was really fucking ugly and there was no salvaging any of it.
>>
>>11928592
>On the toy front the aesthetic was really fucking ugly and there was no salvaging any of it.
Correction: the Maximal toys were hideous. The Vehicons looked just fine, and were more or less a return to form from beasts to vehicles again.
>>
>>11928593
Yeah I gotta agree. My mind was on the Maximals and beast characters. The Vehicons were fine and they had some overall great designs.
>>
>>11928592
I have always held that Beast Machines deserves a complete teardown, redo, from scratch. using, at most, 20% of the same elements. I strongly urge them to forget 'technorganic' bullshit. at most, have them take organic beast forms but suggest they are now more integrated than before. can more efficiently utilize organic food, affects personality more without going nuts if you stay in beast mode too long, etc.
>>
>>11928594
the vehicons looked weird as fuck in the show, though. vehicles with weird, emotive heads, and then their robot modes were barely robots, and had even weirder heads.
>>
>>11928599
>and then their robot modes were barely robots
What are you talking about? They were easily the most robotic and alien a Transformer has ever looked - they just didn't look like the "metal humans" you're used to, and instead looked more industrial, like real-life robots you'd see at a factory or assembly line. I think it was a good look for 'em.
>>
>>11928600
sorry, i meant 'robot' in the sense of 'the thing a transformer becomes'
the inexplicably humanlike aliens that happen to be made of jointed metal. THAT kind of robot.

don't get me wrong, I love non-humanoid robot modes, but they should be more creative than 'the vehicle mode didn't change that much'
>>
>>11928600
I do too. Also I think the more emotive and animated heads made them uncanny, which is what the show was aiming for. It worked well.
>>
a weird, WEIRD jet with like, a 'neck 'on it, turning into a guy with ... like, jet engine air intakes for shoulders, a big jet engine for his entire lower body, and two big jet engine pylon things for his arms, with kinda thin flaps with hinged claws coming off of them, masquerading as hands... that's not very fun or interesting
now if a TANK turned into that, that's creative. and in turn, if the jet could manage to turn into a brutish chunk of a guy, that's cool too. but he shouldn't have weird stumpy kneeless legs and wristless claws poking out of stubby forearms, y'dig?
>>
>>11928602
I think that was the point though. The vehicons were sort of inversed-more anthropomorphic altmodes and more robotic robot modes. They don’t feel like traditional transformers and it works, they’re perversions of the form.
>>

I really think the whole beast machines name came from them wanting the machines to literally be beast like. Ironically the show emphasizes they were entirely nonorganic

Its kind of funny since TransTech would have been a complete hard reversal of the organic-elements of Beast Machines. A shame that toyline didn't happen. >>
>>11928626
indeed. I get the idea. Just did not love that execution, and it was a major letdown in a show like,
the transformations in Beast Wars were incredible. you could follow them with the eye, they felt a lot like the toys but with more details a toy could never pull off, parts springing into place, etc
then Machines gives us the goofy magic transformations that take all that work off of the animators, letting them simply shrink one model while growing the other... so you think, okay, at least the Vehicons will have a fun transformation, right?
naw, they basically do 'Attack Packs' and part of the vehicle stands up.

I honestly like a lot of the beast machines toys. Despite their show inaccuracy as toys there are a lot fewer true stinkers in the line than you'd expect from it's reputation. It's just a shame that nearly the entire line was made out of some of the most poorly aged materials possible.
>>
>>11928646
yeah, as long as the removable armor isn't just kibble to throw in a bag, it's a welcome, if unusual, addition to transformers.

I will say, I liked BM's clever use of clear plastic to make them look like a brand new thing, distinct from the previous lines, and 'newer'
>>11928650
wait really? was the clear plastic fragile? I thought that was a more recent issue. old BW clear plastic was fine, I know that.
>>
>>11928651
Clear plastic is always weaker than it's opaque counterpart no mater the era, it's just the degrees to which is a problem that's different. I've personally been through several hammerstrikes and deluxe primals. I don't think I've seen an intact nightscream in years, not that anyone would want that thing. Plus a lot of flaky chrome and some gps in the line too for good measure.

>>
>>11928652
hard, hard disagree. the clear plastic I grew up on was tougher than any non-clear plastic by a wide margin. hurt a lot worse if you hit somebody with it, too. it was almost ... amber-like.
If that happened in Beast Machines then it was a relatively new occurrence. All of my transparent Beast Wars guys are still fine, and they've been jumbled together in a box (all their chrome is too, but I have started moving the chrome guys to shelves just in case)
The only breakage I ever had was the typical break on Scorponok's claws, rendering the launching mechanism nonfunctional. Technically those are translucent I suppose, but also swirly shiny, so I think the combination of the two was a problem.
>>
>>11928651
>was the clear plastic fragile?
Dunno - I've had Battle Unicorn, Skydive, that first show-inaccurate blue Primal, Mirage, the first Tankor, and Crystal Widow (who actually came later but is still made of clear plastic and uses the BM Blackarachnia mold) for years now, and they're all in as good of condition as they were when I got them despite years of use. Night Viper, too, but he's one of the rare Maximals that has no clear plastic; likewise, Magna Stampede (the Universe repaint of Battle Unicorn) is still in great shape, too, though he also has no clear plastic. The only two characters that I had issues with are Scavenger and the first Thrust - neither of who use clear plastic - and even then, it's just that their arms have gotten a little floppy.
>>
>>11928655
oh yeah, floppiness was absolutely a problem back then. I don't think you can avoid that with ball joints.

Anon Cybertron is basically just one long toy advertisement. The original toys are almost 1 to 1 accurate to the show models.

The original Crumplezone toy is the best Crumplezone toy that will ever be made, ever.

I own it, it's one of my favourites from the line. Any new toy won't have the same gimmicks and the only improvement they could make is adding ankle tilts.

The Maximal toys get considerably better if you consider they're likely meant to feel sort of Evangelion-like, something the show just didn't really get. BM maximals as a whole I think are overly hated; but then most are looking at the show designs which I guess is fair. The toys however had some pretty good Maximals. The origonal balck and blue Optimus Primal is really cool, Buzzsaw and Skydive are awesome, Snarl is good (get the Universe variant though!) And so is the guy who turned into a wolf. Longhorn is ok but a little too simplistic for.my tastes, but his nose ring IS actually metal.

Or were at least. The American lead stuff since 2007 doesn't, and I'd say even the UT went more for nostalgia/throwback style after Car Robots was more in line with then-modern mecha.

UT is pretty much just a continuation of the Braves stuff they had been making in the 90s in both engineering and style. It becomes really noticeable in the transformations e.g. Cybertron Hot Shot/Galaxy force Exillion being an evolution of Volfogg's design scheme and Galaxy Convoy looking somewhat similar in design to J-Decker (and Fire J-Decker in super mode)
It really is a shame turbo nerds in the 2000s bashed those figures because "muh gimmicks" not realizing they're made to be fun kids toys.

I think someone needs to take a deep dive into Beast Wars's development because a lot of it paints an interesting picture. Remember that the original Bat Optimus mold and the Machine War Jets originally meant for G2 were under the same patent, the proposed deco for one of the Jets says “Predicon (sic) Bushwackers”, the amount of late G2 toys with animal themed decos, on top of one of the BW McDonalds pitches was vehicle auto rollers based directly on the G2 ones leads me to believe that the original intent was to slowly introduce Beast into the line over time, alongside the vehicles, which probably inspired the mix found in BWII, the TMs, BM, and CR
>>
>>11929003
Because the new fans Bayshit bring into the fandom do not like or appreciate Beastformers. Hasbro left the Beast Wars characters to rot during Archer's time in charge and buried them as they recentered on vehicle alt modes which means you have multiple generations of fans who feels nothing for those characters now. The people nostalgic for Beast Wars have mostly moved on from this brand because short of Animated using the two most popular characters they were practically ignored until Kingdom finally acknowledged the characters and gave them new toys. But by then you had a bunch of new fags crying about not liking Beastformers just like you did during G1.

Also every modern Beast Wars character shelfwarms. Tigertron shelfwarmed, Silverbolt shelfwarmed, the new Inferno shelfwarmed, TM2 Megatron shelfwarmed, various Kingdom versions of the characters wasted away on shelves. I love Beast Wars but Hasbro fucked it over by ignoring it for so long. Even with G1 at least they had Generations figures and the various name slaps and design homages. I love Beast Wars but its all fucked. Even the movie didn't get Bayfags to like the concept of Beastformers. We're lucky that we even get one new character a year.
>>
>>11929012
We do know beast Wars was going to be a G2 subline originally, the McDonald’s toys are marketed as such.
Anthony Gaud, who worked in the toyline and later the show, did a history of Beast Wars panel at NY Comic Con a few years ago, there’s some coverage of that but it could really use more in depth coverage.

>the new Inferno shelfwarmed,
Inferno was definitely not a shelfwarmer, he was only 1X per case.
>>
>>11929020
That honestly makes Machine Wars even funnier in hindsight. It’s basically a vehicle subline for a beast subline for a vehicle franchise
>>
>>11929019
>TM2 Megatron shelfwarmed
Half-true. TM2 Megatron was in a Cosmos situation where he sold out almost instantly upon first release and was impossible to find; then Hasbro did a package refresh almost immediately after, but overestimated how many were needed, resulting in the overstock cluttering shelves long after everyone who wanted him finally got him.
>>
Is that story about beast machines writers being told not to watch the first show true or are Skir and Isenberg trying to cover their asses?
>>
>>11929019
>the new fans Bayshit bring into the fandom do not like or appreciate Beastformers

>>
>>11929045
Yup. And aside from a couple episodes in the beginning, BM actually did a pretty good job at either being consistent with BW's characterizations, or justifying a change in them and giving them proper character arcs. Sometimes writing them better than BW, I'd argue.
I still maintain that Blackarachnia and Silverbolt are way more interesting in BM, than BW's unending recycling of

Why are [people under a certain age] always so astounded by the concept of the world existing before them? I see this comment in TF communities every now and then when I'll mention using the internet in the 2000's and I'll get someone who should be old enough not to be impressed by this concept by now being astounded to hear about how the internet was back then. It's not like I was an adult either, I was like 10/11 going on TF fan sites, the people who get amazed by this are in their 20's now. If someone mentioned Usenet or something back then I wasn't treating it like archaeology.
>>
>>11929330
Same reason why people are surprised when those younger than them aren't familiar with what they liked as a kid. What feels important really isn't.
>>
>>11929019
I keep saying this, because it's important for people to know, but Aaron archer mentioned on Toy Armada that circa 2010-2013 before he left he was pushing for another Beast series since he was worried they were over-saturating vehicles year after year. Hasbro wanted nothing to do with it, they didn't want to acknowledge Kenner era and they thought Beast Wars muddled the concept they wanted to keep streamlined since the movie basically solidified the popular image of Transformers. Even when John Warden took over Transformers in 2013 or it was mentioned that he saw BW as the dark age and basically had to be asked to start homaging it more as he went on since times changed and a lot of Hasbro higherups who imposed old rules either left or changed their minds.
>how the fuck would that work? Surely those have the most crossover of any two parts of the franch. Half the decepticons are basically beasts.
The Bayverse Decepticons being beastial isn't really the same as having organic beast modes, which remains one of the biggest outliers in the franchise. The movie ended up having the opposite effect where it made Hasbro want to emphasize the classic elements present in it(robots in disguise, contemporary Earth, no beasts except for some minions like Scorponok)
Basically after the movie Hasbro became really self-conscious about how the brand was recognized and was worried about people not recognizing the (this was actually a similar reason why they made G2; they did a focus group and found kids wouldn't recognize Optimus, the Autobot/Decepticon symbols, etc, so they made a new line to put something on shelves to keep the IP out there).
It's why TF Prime, initially at least, avoided doing beasts, and why they were only present for anniversary things for a while(25, 30). Organic or even cyborg beasts are something I don't see the franchise doing again for anything but homages, and even the robobeasts we get are closer to G1 style blocky beasts than BW Transmetals.
>>
>>11929343
They should do a focus group test on a cab over truck.
>>
>>11929337
As someone who teaches kids classes occasionally, it's the opposite for me. I'm a little surprised when kids ask to learn to draw things that are from way before their time and don't really get aired much or merchandised for what would've been their lifetime or more. I have kids asking me about Super Mario World(specifically world, not just Mario) enemies, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, old horrow slashers, and more. My 8 year old nephew once recognized Gumby in a dog toy aisle, I asked him how and he said one of his classmates bought a Gumby toy to school and they all just played with it. A lot of old pop culture ends up reaching kids in unexpected ways.

I loved it when all the fanboys pretended that he never said that or never actually looked down on BW but when it was confirmed they switched up and said "uh well you deserve it". >Machine Wars to try to capitalize on it's popularity by going back to vehicles but no one gave a shit about vehicles so the line died quickly
Its hard to say if Machine Wars was really a failure when it was a one-wave filler line for KB Toys and not a fleshed out part of the franchise. Its no different from a modern day capsule line. The figures were all unused molds or repaints too. It was a very low-cost line and they never planned for it to last. It didn't have any promotional media at the time and it was more or less not marketed. Expectations for it couldn't have been lower.

Machine Wars was likely attached to a failed media franchise centered around rebooting G1 that would have complemented Beast Wars. A Hasbro rep teased a big vehicle-centric revival during Botcon 96. Machine Wars was probably what he was referring to. There's never been any confirmation. Its also possible they wanted to do a low-cost wave of toys to test the market for a full on car revival series and Machine Wars didn't cut it.
>>
I wonder if transtech would have even been good. the aesthetics of the preliminary art really doesn't fill me with theoretical confidence, and the prototypes looked really awkward from some angles (though awesome from others)

>I hated that it never got serious about anything it had going on
I'd argue it was a much needed change of pace. It was refreshing to have a more character focused plot with lower stakes. It felt closer to a sentai show or classic 80s anime. I also don't mind the humans, they helped ground the setting to some degree although yeah, some of them did get annoying but then again so did some of the robot characters.
Also transformers when it tries too hard to be "serious" sucks balls. Prime is completely boring (Starscream and Knockout are the only likeable characters), IDW's writing sucked for the majority of it's run, the WFC shows speak for themselves and Skybound is overrated melodrama.
>>
>>11929553
no I mean, it's definitely called that now. EVERYTHING is called that now. especially among autistic babychilds. but if you were a 90s baby, then I feel like it was still 'the tank engine' at the time.
>>
>>11929562
I also like how the autobots started out completely outclassed, and had to do normal kinda city-level hero shit from time to time, right down to supervillains.
the city also felt properly BIG and futuristic, so the transformers weren't stupidly gigantic, blundering around buildings like humans trying to navigate a room full of boxes. I would love to see a new show that does a lot of what Animated did, but better.

The Botcon 96 panel specifically mentioned that there were two lines in the works, one a G2 continuation specifically and one a G1 character with BW level articulation line. I think MW was the former line since it was probably just getting the molds they had ready to go.
As for the second line, there a wild claim Protoman has mentioned about Classics Hot Rod and Starscream being based off 90s prototypes that never got off the ground. If so, that’s probably the line they came from.
>>
>>11929594
>If so, that’s probably the line they came from.
I don't know how you came to that conclusion instead of Car Robots. You do know a G1 Starscream had already been made before the Classics one right?
>>
>>11929599
I mean the engineering of them does seem pretty far from Car Robots, and Car Robots wasn’t doing such slavishly G1 characters. Plus Protoman’s claim is that the line they were for was unreleased.

Go watch Armada, Energon and Cybertron, the three shows that came out before Animated. Then you'll see why everyone loves it.
>>
>>11929468
>>11929470
Nah, it's a good show. Well-developed characters, cool artstyle and animation, great voice cast, only real problem is they clearly didn't get to do everything they wanted to do. But you don't have to like it.
>>
>>11929636
I mean, IDW Fort Max was never a citybot. He was a regular-sized bot (well, a large one but still), turned into a cybertronian tank; not really comparable at all.
I hope he's good, I like IDW Fort Max. He was interesting. Same goes for the leader-scaled Scorponok and whenever they do a leader G1 Fort Max, cuz I really like the Marvel comics too.
>>
>>11929747
>cool artstyle
I wouldn't even feed this bait to a Sharkticon
>>
>>11929753
I'm sorry but you're the minority, everyone loves D.J. Wyatt's artstyle. Not just for TFA but all his other stuff like Teen Titans and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.

>>
>>11929753
Listen, I get it. Change is scary. But open up your mind every once in a while and you'll find cool things.
Unless of course the style just gives you uncanny valley panic attacks when people post pages of it on your discord, in which case maybe keep your mind closed.
>>
>>11929723
Armada and Cybertron are fine kids shows. The japanese version of Armada is arguably way superior though. Animated also goes in a completely different direction to anything prior and works for completely different reasons
>>11929755
His artstyle is far better in motion people see the key art in the same stance and think they know shit
>>
>>11929758
Not even arguably, I'll outright say objectionally lol. Every TF show had awful dubs, ALL of them. But yes, Micron Legend (Armada)'s so much more engaging and maturely-written when it has an actually good vocal direction and translation, lol. Not enough people have seen it.
>>
(well, every TF anime to be more specific. The western shows had joke dubs in JP, which yeah are unfaithful, but I wouldn't label them outright bad. Just, yeah, gag dubs; you wouldn't take them seriously in the first place.)

Might as well bring up this fucker while we're at it! Lousy shoulder articulation and the rubber horns are always bent out of shape. Looking forward to my upgrade kit finally coming in.
>>
>>11929772
Eh, shoulders aside at least he has the good engineering there. He's a solid action figure. It sucks that I had to do some upgrades like unscrewing his turret and nipping a gate to allow it a full 360, but at least he's a solid action figure besides that, yknow? Got him at a good discount too :b
SS and Hot Shot meanwhile, there's no saving - they just need entire new molds from scratch, which sucks.
I don't get the horns bent though, what're you doing with them lol? Mine can pop out sometimes, but I'm debating whether or not to use some light glue to help them stay in. They glued them in on his repaint, anyways.
>>
>>11929758
His art style is ugly and instead of drawing robots he draws guys in spandex.
>>
>>11929781
>what're you doing with them lol
Why, I made the horrible mistake of opening the box the toy came in!
>>
>>11929706
I mean far removed in that it’s nothing like them, not more advanced, anon. In this theoretical scenario they’d be from before CR. Classics Hot Rod doesn’t feel anything like the car brothers and they specifically didn’t make any vehicles Destron molds for Car Robots( whoch is why they used G1 Briticus and Laser Ozp for the commandos) so I don’t know why you’d think it’d originate from there.
And it’s just specifically those two designs he says are older, and honestly they always did feel a little different from most of the other Classics to me. They’re more G1 faithful keeping basically the same altmodes while mostly everything else got updates, robot modes are closer too.
>>
>>11929781
It occurs to me I should be more specific:
The way the horns are bent for me is not like they sit weird on the pegs, I mean one of the horns is actually itself bent. It came like this out of the box. If I put both horns on his head, it's almost instantly noticeable that one of them is leaning forward or backward depending on the side it's on.
>>
>>11929529
The original colors being cooler to you doens't mean the MW colors aren't also cool though. You can have multiple nice looking decos on a mold.
>>
>>11929803
My Legacy Armada Megatron horns were perfectly fine out of the box, but you can just put it in almost boiling water for a minute and leave it under a couple of big books overnight. That's what I did to flatten my Titans Return Trypticon chest door so it can stay closed.
>>
>>11929798
>so I don’t know why you’d think it’d originate from there.
Because it's the only one that fits the criteria and they basically confirmed it later. It came out less than 4 years after,
>I mean far removed in that it’s nothing like them
I don't think you know what you're talking about. When they said a G1 with BW articulation they probably "they turn into vehicles instead of beasts" and with the characters they probably meant molds like Fire Convoy who would be localized as Optimus Prime.
> and honestly they always did feel a little different from most of the other Classics to me. They’re more G1 faithful keeping basically the same altmodes while mostly everything else got updates,
You're talking aesthetics, I'm talking engineering and the way both are engineered blatantly shows that they have the early 2000s design sensibilities instead of the 90s ones. Also if this claim were even remotely true, Robot Masters Starscream would not exist. Why would they make a different mold of a better version they already had on the cutting room floor?
>>
>>11929859
Where did they confirm it? And it doesn’t fit the criteria of Car Robots at all. The closest they seem like is maybe the train it’s, but they’re nothing like any other new Car Robots mold. I can see the engineering for those two being close to late G2 like Laser Optimus, the cyberjets, etc.
Robot Masters was a smaller scale line while Classics a deluxe. So just having that conceit around does t mean they’d use it first, for the same reason they make a bunch of different G1 Optimus molds to suit whatever line they need

Also this panel was in 96.. way before Car Robots was a thing.
>>
>>11929755
>everyone loves D.J. Wyatt's artstyle.
I have always hated it.
>Teen Titans and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.
Both of which I also hated, even before I knew he was the guy behind the designs.
>>
>>11929894
maybe you're just too old for it, anon
>>
>>11929894
You’re not the only one. The style got multiple derogatory nicknames such as Cal-Arts style, and bean mouth. >>11929934

>>
>>11929762
The same is true of Super Link but even less will ever give that a chance. Super Link is one of the more maturely written, or at least most morose, Transformers cartoons we’ve gotten. Comic relief characters aside, the show is kind of a downer throughout.
Super Links only real failing as far as writing goes is its inability to satisfyingly conclude a character arc.
>>
>>11929932
I'd only be upset if I couldn't buy him for $40 afterwards. What I mean is, if I wait for black Friday and he's cheaper but I miss out, I won't feel bad so long as I could still pick him up for 40, you know what I mean? If he goes back up to normal price after the holiday season Id be upset then, you know what I mean?
I do hear he has a lot of heft
>>
>>11929951
Super Link kinda feels like it ends halfway through and then the last quarter or so feels like it drags. The 2000's anime could really be paired down to 26 episodes easily.
>>
>>11929924
Don't forget that half the anons here are 55, out of touch, and incredibly autistic.
>>
>>11929762
Cartoon Network used to rush dub studios for their licensed anime and required a certain number of episodes be done before they ordered the show. Armada really suffered because of this because not only was the animation rushed but so was the dub script. It clearly never went through revisions and the voice actors were just drilled to read lines and move on. For Cybertron Scott McNeil had no idea Snarl was a major recurring character when he was told to voice him. He had no real information about the character at all because these guys were just running lines
>>
>>11929930

>>
>>11930233
Mine too. All my RiD toys are disintegrating. "New" X-Brawns and Team Bullet Train toys can be broken in package due to the decay. Its really hard to find a complete Beast Machines Nightscream that's not broken too because of the clear plastic. Clear plastic has never really been durable its just that for a time newer toys started to really go all in on using clear plastic for more complex hinges with lots of thin clear plastic pieces so it became a more noticeable issue for some people. Most older toys would use them for ball jointed shells so they lasted a bit longer. Or they'd be big solid hunks for the arms and legs. The big difference though is they can make parts much thinner now. Compare Universe Sunstreaker's chest piece to the WFC version and you can tell a big difference. Same if you compare BM Primal's knee joint to something like Earthrise Optimus. The clear plastic Earthrise Optimus is going to be a mess soon because those knee joints are thin and weak while BM Primal's are meaty and designed more around the limitations of the time.

nta why is Lego transparent plastic so durable but others arent? Like I dont think anything is ever going to happen to my transparent orange chainsaws but I've had micro men toys just break out of the package. actually I think they were broke in the package.

It kills me that we never got repaints of the Rise of the Beast guys. I loved all their designs but the desaturated colors made me not buy any of them and I was hoping they'd get some sort of repaint. At the time I saw so many custom repaints with them too. Beast Machines, Transmetal 1s and McDonald toys (but I missed this guy, I saw a Rhino.)

Legos are expensive because they use real high quality, extra-springy plastic. They do still eventually yellow and become brittle, but it takes forever.

those shits were clogging stores for like a decade. I'm like, guys, fuckin hell, i love robot animals, I would love to buy a giant robot cheetah, I even like the scimitar shoulder things, but this is a fucking stupid design. It doesn't transform, it just stands up. the feet have fucking calves, the cheetah head is tiny.. it just does nothing right.

I honestly could believe they were going to do something with it in the third show, Super Link kept laying hints like he's questioning who he truly is, and they rpobably wanted to conclude that self-exploration in the third show... Yknow, before Galaxy Force was handed off to another studio that inexplicably decided to make it a reboot instead. Still salty a bit..

Because the nature of the product means that for the most part there's a mostly static set of toolings they use for everything they make. So they can get really anal about keeping the tolerances precise for their parts, which they do mostly to keep the clutch power just right for their pieces but that also has the helps minimizing the stresses actually put on the clear plastic. Even then I've had an old transparent hinge or two develop micro fractures when popping them together, usually I just hit it with my heat pen pretend I didn't see it and never take the 2 pieces apart again.

That's only because it was retroactively repurposed into a Dinobot II prototype by the IDW sourcebook years later. At the time it never got assigned a faction but the little bit of merchandising there is for the promo does separate him a little from Scorponok and Blackarachnia. I want to say the store display did so as well but that's gonna be hard to tell since I'm just going off memory.
Also note how BW is advertised as a subline of Transformers here.
>>
>>11930238
I always suspected they planned to maybe make a Transmetal Tigatron out of Cheetor initially(like long before Botcon's Ravage remold) which is why he was left out. I'm guessing they never considered a Blackaracnia out of Transmetal Tarantulas as part of the transmetals angle was to do the show characters and BA was more visually distinct from Tarantulas(i.e. they wouldn't just use a male mold for her, and Airazor showed a willingness to do fembots). Since they already met their budget limits and couldn't finance more models, this never went through.
>>
>>11930284
i mean
they specifically did show characters as TM1s, and then ONLY did TM2 versions of show characters IF they were in the show, so it's clear that they kept changing their mind about how well they were going to mesh with the show... but at no point does palette-swap transmetal 1s really make sense, to me. The MO changes, but that never fits it.

Interesting thing about Snarl is that his GPS is situational. Apparently if you have one which has been out of the package since it was released (more or less pbviously) the gold plastic is fine. Or maybe just not as brittle as most GPS. I was able to transform him and open and close his spark housing a few times after I got him, but understandably I don't handle him much because I don't want to risk it. Shame too, he is actually a really cool mold. May get the Universe one. As for the transparent plastics on BM toys they are all great, its a very solid blend.

>they were never going to follow up on Starscream's face turn and going for sloppy mind wiping post resurrection to factory reset him back to being evil.
Firstly, Superlink implies that the Starscream seen in Superlink/Energon isn't the same Starscream as the one from Micron Legends/Armada as he is 'different' not to mention being called Nightscream instead. I do agree that they never followed up on him but for entirely different reasons. Superlink Starscream or rather Nightscream is essentially TM2 Dinobot, a newly created bot who shares the same visage as the most honorable and well liked character of the series but with none of the memories and is each respective Megatron's right hand man due to the latter missing their existence ever since they died.
It was a huge missed opportunity to not have Starscream/Nightscream essentially being hounded by Alexis or even Hot Shot perhaps with every attempt to make him remember who he was and even end it almost similarly with Starscream's spark posessing the body to make one more noble sacrifice to end the conflict.

The back of New Legends G2 Menasor box has a comic with the return of Grand Scourge with him trying to hijack Menasor's limbs but unable to due to the Stunticons adding safeguards in the frame to prevent what happened during CW/Legends from happening again.
Also they got Grand Scourge to reappear again, maybe this is a tease of a new form for Grand Scourge....

I own him, and as odd as he is, I love him. You don't see many Lindwurms in general, let alone one that's a Transformer, plus the wolf-man mode is pretty neat (even if the head is too small). Also, apparently the wolf head was supposed to have lightpiping eyes, but no toy ever actually got 'em - the head and eye sockets were left completely hollow. Also weird how his box bio makes him out to be a completely different character (and very loyal to the Maximal cause) than who he actually turned out to be - I wonder if that was an attempt to hide his identity for the plot twist in the show, or if he really was originally intended to be his own dude with a grudge against Megatron for being discarded.
>I'd love to see an honest attempt at a new one, without partsforming wings.
You can technically transform him without removing the wings, but yeah, if you wanted him to look like he did on the show, they'd need to figure out how to hide them in wolf mode. Would still be neat to see him modernized with a better tail and bigger head in lindwurm mode and bigger head and smaller arms in wolf-man mode, but we'll never see it - Hasbro doesn't want to acknowledge Beast Machines, and our one shot was that horrible Core-class Cheetor that no one wanted. We'll never get the designs people actually wanted, especially not at a standard size.
>>
>>11930539
Ahh man thats cool. I got this guy secondhand without the card, so I didn't know what his said. Yeah I got that Cheetor too, of course, right now hes my only BM Cheetor. I need to buy one soon. Keep some hope, the chances of us getting a (if probably not accurate) Botanica from Quintus Prime are higher than zero!

Really I wish some 3rd party would take a crack at Beast Machines (or at least Transtech) but I don't see it happening. I love Beast Machines but I can admit Beast Wars is better and way more popular.

Just some Wolfbros.

Quickstrike here is I think a very serviceable little Transformer. One of the better looking Maximals and he does one of my favorite things a quadruped alt mode can do: When he transforms he does more than stand up on his hind legs.
>>
>>11930428
>>
>>11930541
>I got this guy secondhand without the card, so I didn't know what his said.
Fortunately, I still have a bunch of my characters' boxes with their cards and instructions on 'em. Here's his - from the motto and the fact that they state his hatred for Megs is genuine, it seems like he was going to be his own character for a while (which he eventually was, once Megatron's Spark was removed from him, though he lost his intelligence at that point).
>>
I'd kill for a shrunken down Air Attack Primal with two fully articulated arms and a non-screaming face.
>>
>>11930317
>blame the idiotic company that didn't make enough of the highly desired thing.
The only reason people want shitty toys like that one is because they're rare.
>>
>>11930545
> When he transforms he does more than stand up on his hind legs.
As heavy this criticism is lobbied at beastformers, I do think the designers did notice and tried to avoid using the same beast limbs as the equivalent robot limbs by at least the second year. You start having things like Snarl using his beast jaw as feet or Spittor using his lower legs for arms, then the Fuzor line does more intricate things like Silverbolt basically transforming vertically with his legs being the front legs dropping down, to asymmetrical transformations like Bantor or Lio Convoy in Japan.
tigerhawk having his hind legs become his chest is probably the most clever. When we got new quadrupeds in Energon and Cybertron they were far more basic except Backstomp, probably due to needing to work in gimmicks we’ve just gotten far less beastformers and when we due so much are either G1 or early BW homages where the designs tend to be simpler. If we had more whole new Beast designs regularly I think they’d shake things up more but since we only get a few now and then they mainly stick to the usual transformation schemes
>>
>>11930396
For some reason, a bunch of the SS86 figures have that on the top of their boxes. Don't know why, but if you've collected others from SS86 and kept their boxes, go back and check 'em, 'cause you might be surprised how many say that.
>>
>>11930539
>I wonder if that was an attempt to hide his identity for the plot twist in the show
That'd be my guess, kinda like how back in '86, Galvatron's bio had him listed as a mere City Commander, and there were TV commercials in the UK specifically referring to Ultra Magnus as the new leader.
>>
>>11930568
Man thats neat. I miss Bios and stuff so much.

>>11930589
It may have been less that they saw it as a criticism and more that they were bored of doing it that way, but yeah I really love it when they can manage something more interesting. Beast Machines Deluxe Optimus Primal is another favorite example of mine, the way his gorilla arms become his robot legs. Its so cool. Fun play feature too that is more than just a spring loaded missile. His throwing shuriken actually works pretty well.
>>
>>11930534
>without partsforming wings.
Not sure how that's possible. Even in the show, he keeps the wings until he's pretty much done transforming before they retract. You get a second where he looks more lime the toy.
>>
>>11930597
It might look clunky but I bet you could have them fold up to form his back. He may come out looking a bit bulky but idk. I'd at least like the wings to do something other than occasionally fall off his back or have to just be out somewhere.
