Since no other discussion currently going on I want to throw out a half baked concept that's been on my mind since yesterday:Alien race that is radically different from humans, either they are just fat cells or they're like a hive mind of fat cells that make up one body for each. They start to encounter humans and think there is something very wrong with us since we're more than just fat cells and the fat isn't the driving force. They observe and study us from afar and start to come up with hypothesis as to why humans are so weird. Some disease or terrible mutation being leading theory.Anyway they start trying to "save" humans abducting some from colony or raiding human ships to take their crew. Different experiments to correct what they think are anatomy flaws. Early tests just involve fattening them to extremes to see if extra fat resolves the issues but later try things to just make humans more fat centric and gaining weight more consistent. Trying to fix issues like this mass of grey matter that doesn't listen to the fat cells enough or the fact humans can only eat limited amounts and don't do it all the time.But that's all I got, no real direction for the idea or meaningful setting to explore it.
