For anybody who had any interest in proof.py (automated proofreading tool) from an earlier thread, Gemma 4 MTP support is in llama.cpp now. Substantial performance boost for 31B, nothing much for the 26B MoE (testing on pure CPU only). Also 4bit QAT (quantization aware training) models are out. Benchmarks look disappointing but could be worth checking out if you're memory constrained.

So back when Digimon Story Time Stranger was out, one of the most reoccurring pictures made was of boys and men bonding with DemiDevimon as their partner, and it jumps to them evolving into a very sexy, evil female digimon, but retaining most of their initial personality, most basically unaware of how their new form affects their friend.I'd like to request a writing that explores that sensation a bit. I'm thinking of a man (or boy) who takes a DemiDevimon under his wing after DemiDevimon's 'friends' basically beat it up and left it for dead. Maybe a time skip happens to show that a now-healthy DemiDevimon sees the man (or boy, now teen/adult) as boss and some of those cute friend interactions? At most they get in trouble together, eat together, play together. Best friends. They get ambushed by DemiDevimon's 'friends' one day, but actually hold them off well enough. But when they do something that would cause great harm to the man, DemiDevimon warp digivolves into Beelstarmon to fend them off. But now she doesn't know how to change back, if she can even do it at all. This makes the man feel things as the same mannerisms, different body from his partner make him ask many questions about his tastes. Can be clean, erotica or smut, up to author, but I do think confronting the feelings should happen.>Suggested tags if lewd: vanilla, groping, fingering, friend to lover, creampie, belly play/kissing, licking, cunninglingusBeelstarmon/DemiDevimon personality isn't fixed, so they can act any wayyou want. there's a gnat in my room and it keeps flying by my face
how soon is too early to release a story i plan to update somewhat regularly. i keep telling myself i need to finish the next chapter or no one will read it because it gets better in this next one, but i might end up with the whole thing written before sending it out.
bump. will post something within a few hours i believe. hope you like these guys, wfg.
>>83369372It's fully acceptable to release chapter by chapter from the very beginning. If you're worried that it's not good enough, maybe you need a stronger hook.
>>83369372It depends on your goal. If you are fooling around and having fun, do whatever. If you are trying to maximize readership and what rewards are attendent to such, there are some general rules of thumb. Build up a lead of at least 5 chapters before you first post. Then you pick and stick to a posting schdule. Weekly, twice weekly, or daily are suggested. Posting more often means better numbers, but not if you become cavalier with your schedule.
What tips would you give to a brand new writer? After writing the first chapters of several different stories, I feel that pacing is my biggest problem. I spend too much time setting up the background and all of the character details in the beginning, when I should be getting to the "meat" of the story faster. This seems extremely important in order to not immediately lose a reader's interest, especially since I'm attempting to write erotic stories. People usually seek those out with a certain purpose in mind.Maybe this isn't something I should be thinking about as a complete newbie, but what is the best way to make sure your stories reach potentially interested readers?AO3's tags feel like a nightmare to dig through most of the time, and doesn't seem to have much of an audience for the anime-esque stories I aspire to write.
>>83374660As a beginner, I recommend writing short stories rather than chaptered projects. Focus on actually finishing your stories. Not only is it good practice for tackling longer narratives, but that feeling of successfully finishing a project is one of the best motivators to keep working on other stuff.Learn to edit. Pacing is one of those things that can be easily tweaked later. Finish a draft first, then pinpoint the areas that feel off and figure out what to change about them. Learn to pick out details that seem unnecessary and can be cut out if needed. As far as finding an audience, I find it works best to have a community that you're writing for. On 4chan, that usually means having a target general where you drop a link to your work. My usual stomping ground is /scaly/, so I write stories about lizards and share them there.
As promised here is the thing.https://archiveofourown.org/works/86523421Upward TrendA milky destined to die finds his own personal escape from the gray planet, but a small wrench is thrown into his plans when a clumsy experiment crashes through his window. If you like it or hate it, please let me know. And, because this is wfg, if I've majorly fucked something up, please let me know. Either in writing, prose, plot, whatever. Or if I fucked up my posting to ao3, it's my first time uploading there. It's unfinished, and I have at least 4 more chapters planned. Worldbuilding, crime and punishment in fishron society. Their societies are basically just big polycule-communes where they mostly mess around and fuck all day so it's not like crimes happen very often, but they don't have hands to build jails when they do. Currently thinking that petty criminals will be marked for a few weeks with some kind of shame-token like a big bulky chunk of driftwood on a rope or something like a broken ships' wheel around the neck. Something uncomfortable that makes it difficult to get around and acts as a constant reminder of the crime. Then more serious or repeat offenses would involve physical disfigurement like the docking of one ear in an obviously intentional way in order to permanently mark the offender as a problem individual.I think it's kind of funny to have the goofy dolphinsealiondragons to be like fuck it bite their ear off as soon as crimes happen tbdesu. For the other stuff I kinda hope that it's not too cliche for the ocean guys to go straight to boat-themed punishments, but the imagery looks kinda cool in my head and shipwreck salvage seems like the easiest way for them to access something durable and really wearable considering they can't do any real crafting on their own.And then for really serious stuff like murder they literally just beat the perpetrator unconscious, disfigure them, drag them off shore, and cast them into the sea into permanent exile. And that's kinda like the death penalty in its own way since they're all too interdependent and individually vulnerable to survive on their own for super long
>>83356825I'm not giving up on you. You can do requests.

>>83375713Thanks for posting in the /v/ thread, I loved your story! Shame the thread got deleted so I wanted to repost my reaction to your first 4 chapters because I liked them so much and just in case you missed it. https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/740842174/#740878604That was sooo cuuutee!! I really enjoyed it, Anon. I had a smile on my face most of the time reading it and can't wait for you to write more. Emergency milky saves the day! Sawian's impressive healing abilities really come in handy here don't they? Sam will be good as new in no time. I really enjoy all the comfort and petting and cuddling and good happy warm mushy positive feelings, especially after how negative other fics can be. My poor pained heart needed the warming up.How you wrote how Oat and Sam got their names was really cute and funny. Imagine a Milky post-shower fluffed up like a big poofy cloud with sharp blue eyes, very cute. When Sam was crawling over to Oat for pets and patting the bed for Oat to sleep together this pic kept popping up in my head. https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/740842174/#740860947 Too cute.Still, I'm wondering where Oat plans to go with the rocket? It's natural to want to leave the Grey Planet, but I have no idea where they could go. Still, I wish them the best.
>>83415156hey, thanks for reading and the kind words. more petting and dumb loving (like kissing!!!) is on its way, dont worry. i was really shocked how there was so little of mostly uplifting stuff like this, hopefully i can keep filling the void. i saw your post and the other way too kind posts in that thread but didn't want to reply and thank you and take up more of the thread and such, but it ended up getting deleted anyway so.>that picabsolutely one of my favorites, like he's asking what you're waiting for>puffed up milkywould be even cuter with how much they seem to care about their appearance, not many get to see them looking that vulnerable.>rocketwell, of course it can't get very far with how small it is and the reliance on old fashioned rocket tech rather than any fancy ftl stuff, they'd be lucky to have enough fuel to slowly drift towards something in the same solar system. i'm not certain i can both do where they're going and what they'll do justice, and make it fit into this story, but we'll see. what happens in that cramped space though is what's really important, right?i've got the next chapter almost ready, and didn't want to make this post till i had it uploaded lol, but it'll be out sometime later today almost certainly. i'll throw a post in the v thread when it's up, if there's one by that point. really hope they can keep skirting by, hopefully it takes some time off this time.

>>83375713Two new chapters posted for Upward Trend here.>>83415156I'm a day late, but I hope an extra chapter makes up for it.>>83422831>please stop randomly mixing present tenses in the middle of your story. That's probably my biggest enemy, tied with my overuse of commas. I do try and avoid it as best I can but it's annoying to find in proofing and despite myself I keep switching to present tense. I double and triple checked the last two chapters for this problem specifically, if there's any present tense feel free to mail a complaint to me directly. And to make even more use of this post, what's the etiquette like for replying to comments left on your work on ao3? I'm torn between replying to none and feeling bad about it and replying to all of them with thanks and a nudge that I posted new chapters, and feeling like I'm annoying or bloating the comments somehow.
>>83439088NTA but I wouldn't reply too much to comments. The only times I reply to comments are if they ask a question about something or if it's like a really long review, since those take a bit more time and effort than "good chapter bery nice." or "shit chapter bery bad." Ultimately it's up to you whether or not you want to respond but saying thank you to every comment gets redundant. Trust that your readers know you appreciate it.
>>83439088>what's the etiquette like for replying to comments left on your work on ao3?If I feel like I have something to say for a reply then I doAs the stories get older I usually don't reply to stuff like simple praise, but that's often because I see it a couple days later (weeks, even) and feel weird replying so late
>>83356825His collection needs dickbutts...
Im currently writing my first draft when i realized it would make more sense to change something earlier in the story. But there are a few scenes later on that would require me to do that exact thing i wanted earlier. Basically a seed for something like half way through the story but really it would make more sense to plant it earlier. >if i made a mistake in a first draft should i pretend i fixed it and carry on like so, or keep the mistake as is and fix it in the second draft? >Even if it makes way more work later on and the fix is only swapping one scene out?
>>83444400If you can already tell that not fixing it now will cause more trouble later on, then just fixing it is the right move. Can you think of any rational reason why not changing it might be beneficial in the long run?
>>83444498Tbh I'm not certain it would fix a whole lot, but planting a seed like that takes time to bear fruit. It doesn't make sense that someone you call from out of state would get to you by the next day. Like it's possible but unlikely they could get to you too soon. Plus the scene i planned on putting it in doesn't feel very substantial and think it would help more there. Basically I want some guy to mail a letter earlier in the story so later it can have them be mailed back something in a time that makes sense. And took out the scene of him getting donuts on the way because the donuts shop he went to could really just explained in a passing sentence. I plan on having him keep checking for a response throughout the story but it would make more sense to add it as early as possible.
>>83445929You can view the change as fixing a chronology issue. The timespan for this postal round trip was too short, so you're moving the start point backwards. Adjusting the timeline like that is a major change to the story's structure, so it makes sense to do it as early as possible to avoid excessive rewrites. Plus, it sounds like you've already made a solid argument for the change. It really makes no sense to wait until the second draft to do something about it.
