But anyway:Got sucked into the old 50s/60s Gerry Anderson (Thunderbirds dude) stuff like Fireball XL5 and Space Patrol over the last few days in its schlocky unscientific B goodness: dudes surviving the vacuum of space on air and food pills, walking around in fishbowl helmets and loafers instead of proper suits when the aforementioned isn't available, so needless to say the old spaceflation itch is flaring up again and sometimes the show goes out of its way to incite it.One episode centers around a lake of "moving water" discovered on Saturn (whose surface is described verbatim as being like the Florida everglades with extra fog) that's inert in its home body but which gains both energy and volume the further a sample gets from the lake to the point where a pail of it taken to a planetside research lab expands to saturate an area the size of a McMansion and the yard area you'd expect one of them to have and cause localized earthquakes, and needless to say we've all already zipped to "what would happen if some space chick drank from it without testing it first?"(Also, holy shit the casual and overt sexism and ethnic bigotry/caricaturization is unreal, I don't know what Anderson had against the Irish but the dude LOVED hitting that particular punching bag in Space Patrol)
