Ralsei was trying to prevent Susie from reading the wrong thing. The ending, being seen, isn't what set the prophecy in stone for Susie. It was the idea that love would find its way to her. Then Noelle and her get closer, and like any teenager, she assumes this girl liking me means I'm in love. Susie expresses this when they try to win the battle in the manner befitting of a flower. Especially if there was already some prior attraction. This event is framed to me in the same manner as the prior chapter ended. 'Awe isn't that funny/cute' when the author clearly wants you to feel something for Kris' situation. The entire walk home was just that. The story beat to a certain drum, and to think Kris is merely there for nothing or as a punching bag is foolish. Not because I believe Toby is a wizard of writing, but because in my eyes the story is still going in the same direction. A confrontation with Kris. Kris needs to express their feelings. To me it still seems Kris is on the path of self destruction for the sake of others, and they need to be pulled from that path.
