What makes a fictional story/setting good fodder for weight gain content? Why are some shows, movies, comics, etc. really good settings for weight gain media while others are not?

One big theory I have is that the more interesting and compelling a franchise's characters are, the better it'll take to weight gain content. Because dull, boring characters are no fun to fatten up. You need characters with interesting psychologies, complex characters with a lot of facets, a lot of hopes and fears and personality traits, all of which can be twisted into vectors for fattening them up.

This would explain why the properties that tend to generate a lot of weight gain stories, comics, sequences, etc. tend to be properties whose characters are well-developed. Stuff like Amphibia, King Of The Hill, Avatar, Evangelion, and so on. Properties with characters you can sink your teeth into, where it's actively fun to speculate, "Okay, how would THEY get fat?".

Overfeed them, constantly deny that they’ve gained weight and tell them they’re fine(the longer it takes them t to realize the heavier they are and the more ingrained those bad habits get), once they figure it out work to sabotage their diet and get them to think they're working harder and eating less than they actually are, so they keep gaining despite their efforts. Pamper and praise how you still love them and think they look cute which combined with the failing weight loss eventually gets them to give up and embrace being a fatty. Now you can aggressively and openly overfeed again

Suddenly, Penny's life is a lot more safe and mundane, and she has a lot more time to focus on her computers and robotics, which it turns out enables a lot more snacking and a lot less calorie-burning than globetrotting adventures. Hackin' & snackin', gamin' and gainin', robuts & donuts. By the time she grows up she'll definitely be a major fatass, but also a well-paid engineer who's never once been kidnapped & tied up.

This makes me think that you could write a kind of "Fat Neighborhood" story set in such a universe. Something taking place in the aftermath of 10 or 20 years of such programming. I think a lot of "Mass obesity" stories kind of ruin themselves by making literally everyone obese and proud, it kind of throws off the bell curve.

It's way more interesting to me if, yes, the supermajority of the population is obese(like Tonga on steroids), but you still have 10-15% of the population who's thin and active and another 10-15% in the chubby-kinda fat range. BUT. and this is crucial, don't make them like doomers or rebels or something aware of how off this is.

I think the normalization is sold even better if there IS still a skinny/fit/only a lil chubby contingent in this society and they aren't oppressed or anything, but they view most people being whales as perfectly normal and don't really have a strong reaction to it.. That one mousey scrawny girl at the office and the one fit tall girl who does lifting don't see anything weird about most people being at least double their weight or finding co-workers passed out in food comas or rubbing bloated bellies after gorging themselves letting out gas. That's pretty normal to them(maybe fit girl even has an immobile blob of a mom back home who she doesn't view as disabled or off or anything, just 'retired and on the heavy side').

If EVERYONE is obese it feels more like mass brainwashing and kind of kills the fun, if you've still got some skinny girls who see nothing wrong with the world being like this it's way hotter.

I especially like this idea with the apocalypse survivor mind waking up in the obese body of their non-apocalypse self and how they perceive and process getting accustomed to their new body and reality. Some characters are disgusted by their new bodies, ashamed or even just feel pity for being such a soft useless tub of lard.

For the first couple of days she's just thinking about how impractical her body is for survival, contemplating her corpulent girth and how she can't climb a fence or outrun(outwaddle) a zombie to save her life.
She feels a creeping fear as she realizes she has zero chance of squeezing into or out of a shallow cellar window, an act she remembers doing routinely what felt like yesterday and had saved her bacon on dozens of occasions from both zombies and raiders.
And speaking of bacon good lord her belly is huge! The idea of a girl or any human having so much gut almost feels incomprehensible to her, how anyone could have enough food and safety to accumulate such mass is an alien concept to her she can barely believe it's real even as she hefts her own massive belly.
She remembers her first waking moments in this new reality and body, she awoke with a start feeling so warm and comfortable in a plush bed felt immediately wrong and foreign.
In her dazed surprise she immediately tried to sit up in bed to get on her feet as per her survival instincts. But she suddenly feels a sharp pain of strain running from her solar plexus to her groin as her brain issues commands to muscles unused and ill adept to perform such an action. So atrophied from a lifetime of disuse and distended by abdominal fat her muscles have no strength or leverage to even remotely hoist herself, only reporting back spasms of confused pain from deep within the mountain of fat that is her belly.
She immediately felt immobile and helpless and that terrified her to her core.

Oh absolutely, in the long term they would definitely love if not whole heartedly embrace their fat pampered easy new timeline.
I was more specifically focusing in on the initial reaction of them comparing and contrasting their old body and how their old lifestyle and instincts would crash into a blubbery wall with their life circumstances.
None of their old survival instincts and behaviors have any purpose nor would how they fundamentally assess their bodies.
The clash of their old perspective and adapting to their new easier reality while simultaneously already being spoiled obese and less mobile is an interesting character exploration to me in addition to being hot.

For as long as there has been porn there has been fetish variations. As soon as magazines like hustler and playboy got a foothold BBW versions also took root. He's one of the Oldest notable literary fatfags I know of and one of the only ones who actually preserved most of his old Weight Room era works. Shit's pretty tame by today's standards but if you weren't around for the 80s or most of the 90s his stories, especially the Weight Loss Camp series is a charming of the era grounded fiction about a self discovering fatfag that gets a job as a councilor at an expense fat camp for adults.
It's a slow burn by today's standards but you really get a feel for the time period. No cellphones or internet hookups, motherfuckers just casually smoking ect, just early architects pursuing random fatties in the wild. And you get the sense that back in the day fat women especially in their 20s and 30s were white whales back then.

I think the reason for this is that in fat fetishism there are sort of 2 main camps for fat girl personalities.
The nervous shy meek girl who's insecure about her fat and the Loud and Proud bombshell who's completely confident about her body.
D.VA's existing character already kinda fits into the confident self assured side of the spectrum and most fat artists and fatfags commissioning fat artists I think liked D.VA for her personality falling on the confidence/arrogant side of the spectrum so that's what the majority of art made of her leans into.

No, There is just a lot of overlap between nerds and very smart girls since they share some of the same traits, and the social issues that plague nerd girls also make it easier for them to focus on studies if they so choose. But nothing in nerd is directly a bone to IQ.
The bare minimum you could hope for is a girl who has some qualities that make her predisposed to other priorities like looks or popularity and upon being nerdified she starts using latent knowledge she's always had but suppressed due to her focus elsewhere. I disagree with this idea that NEETs can't be smart when Neetness has from my perspective always been more about a lack of drive, desire, focus or direction in life rather than a lack of intelligence.

Alternatively the Neetness can stem from a Diogenical world view of being content with a simple lifestyle or not seeing a point in 'participating in the rat race'.

Yeah, I qualified NEET as not be genius level because I didn't want to imply they couldn't have natural talent they choose to squander. But I also feel that the act of embracing NEETdom they are allowing any gifts of intellect to spoil. That by becoming a NEET their intelectual capacity will dull and fade overtime from being untouched. This is doubly true in NEET TF where stripping away such drive and affluence will have a direct impact to their IQ.
A genius can become a NEET through lifestyle choice and slowly waste that brilliance, but if a genius becomes a NEET through direct TF it would be almost weird if the TF didn't bring her IQ down rapidly to a more average level because it's enforcing all aspects of being a NEET, nit just setting her on a path to it.

I'd also like to bring up the Japanese take on NEET since part of the concept is from there. I looked for the right tags to explore it more on pixiv for a while and finally found they normally call these girls either "Unwanted Virgin" "Eternal Virgin Girl" or "Unpopular Girl" with some variation on those themes. But those terms do a lot to explain their take on it. Girls who have given up on society's purpose for them and embrace solitude. Like western versions they are usually shown being hedonists and just dumb perverts. Their NEET seem far more shameless in expression though, grinning and reveling in their awful lifestyle. Either to imply they feel liberated from the shackles of social norms to behave this way or artist's preference that they love being such deviants. Other traits they seem to view as essential to the concept is being very unwashed and nearly paralyzed by certain social interactions.

She also has some weird beliefs about pleasure and indulgence when it comes to organic life and will sometimes tell others they should indulge and not turn down pleasures at odd moments. She’s not full Cheesecake or anything, but I could see Jenny become a bit of a bad influence occasionally encouraging humans to engage in bad habits (namely eating) she knows being pleasure

You know it's funny with how Chapter 5 Weird route went because we had that discussion a while back with an idea where Kris and Susie turn into the absolute biggest enablers for each other and foster some monstrously powerful slob and gluttony in one another. Noelle watching it unfold can see how the fatter and more slovenly they get the more they just split from the others in class into their own world. She makes a choice to walk away from their peers and join them in their decent because she'd rather be with them in this isolated social clique than lose them just to stay part of the normal peer group. And there she is having a moment of reflection as she realizes how different she has become from their influence to the point she can't even see herself and her former peers as being remotely alike.
