Heck, I'd even take a generic furry if someone wanted to do that do.As for items, some basic gear on the head and feet, with other stuff being optional, if the artist likes to draw detailed equipment.Sometimes artists like my refs, some don't.Sometimes if you give an artist something too basic, they ask for more.So its always a toss up.
