>>83812577Little known fact: the word "they" can also be used to refer to a group of people.
>>83812862It really can be. I would like to see more ideas thrown around like with last year's Krisappearance and Mental Hospital AUs; those netted some of the nicest OC. Further back still with the Swap AU and Momdyne too.

>Monsters are a varied people.>There are entire towns where no two families are quite the same, physically at least.>So many differences. So many little peculiarities about their bodies.>An example? Here's a fun one:>When winter begins to fade into spring, deer monsters shed their antlers.> . . .>Dess sat hunched over on the edge of her bed.>Her face was scrunched in discomfort. Eyes narrowed, brow knotted.>Her left hand was braced against the side of her head...>And rather forcefully shoved against her skull, shaking it.>Shake. Shake. Shake. A grunt.>"Come on, goddamnit," she grumbled.>Jerk, shake, jerk. >The motion wasn't all that dissimilar to one trying to force water out of their ear after a swim.>Her tongue peaked past the edge of her lips, head tilting to the side.>"Aaalmost..." She murmured, bracing herself-->"Dude," a disgusted voice called to her. "Seriously?">Dess blinked, looking up towards the head of the bedframe.>Asriel, lounging against her pillows, textbook balanced against his lap, peered at her with distaste.>She had been so focused on relieving herself of her cranial baggage that she had forgotten her boyfriend had come over to study with her.>Study? Well, hang out. And not even the -fun- kind of hangout, considering his sibling had come along to play with Noelle.>"Do you really gotta do that here?" Asriel asked.>Dess scowled. "They're just about to drop, man. Here's as good a place as any.">"You're gonna get blood everywhere!">"It's like, a little splurt at best. What, ya queasy?" She snorted. "Besides, it's -my- bedroom.">"Yeah, and you're gonna get blood all over -your- carpet!" He motioned towards the doorway, one mandated to be kept open after Carol walked in on a rather vigorous "practice" session a couple months back. "Just go to the bathroom!"Cont
>>83813057>Dess groaned, shaking her head. "You just don't get it, Azzy.">"Hell yeah, I don't. It's gross and freaky.">"'It'S GroSs anD FreeeakkYYY,'" Dess whined back mockingly at him.>"You're so mature," Asriel rolled his eyes.>"Says you!" Dess snickered. "You're being such a wuss right now! I can't believe you're this freaked out over a little blood.">Something mischievous flashed within her gaze then, eyes widening a touch at a realization born of her own words.>She turned her head towards the doorway, the dim of her bedroom giving way to the bright lights of the rest of the Holiday household.>She raised a hand to her muzzle...>"Ooooooh, Krismas~" She called out playfully.>No response. >"Kris!" She shouted then, louder than her prior crooning. "C'mon, get up here!">A soft voice called from downstairs. She couldn't quite make out what was said, or by who; didn't matter.>"Don't care!" She insisted. "Come on up, seriously! Got something for ya!">In the periphery of her vision, Dess could see Asriel looking between her and the doorway. Confusion was writ across his snowy features.>"Wh--Dess, what're you doing?">She could barely suppress the chuckle in her throat.>"Shh-shh," she hushed him, shaking her head. "Shut up, this is gonna rule.">"Dess," he insisted upon the question. They could both here footsteps growing closer. She ignored him.>Into the light of the doorway came a small, small silhouette of a human child in loose clothing.>"What is it?" Kris asked from across the way, their voice quiet. "Elly 'n' I were--">"Yeah, yeah sure, you can go back to it in a sec," Dess interrupted him. "Wanna see something cool?">Kris blinked at that. They gave a nod. Dess waved them closer.>It was enough for Asriel to put it together. >"Dess, -don't-," he warned, doing his best to sound stern. Once more, she ignored him, coaxing the human to approach. Cont
>>83813077>"...Why?" Kris mumbled.>"You'll see. Ready?">"No, they won't," Asriel interrupted, swinging his feet off the bed and sitting upright. He pointed to the door. "Kris, go back downstairs. Hang out with Noelle.">"Don't listen to crybaby over there," Dess said. "C'mon, Krismas. Just snag and pull.">Kris glanced between their brother and their idol.>"I-I don't...">"You wanna be cool, don't'cha?" Dess said, grinning.>Of course they did. Who was cooler than Dess?>They could trust her with anything.>So they reached those furless, human hands of theirs up, grabbed hold of her blue antler, and leaned back to pull with all their diminutive strength.>Pop.>Kris fell flat on their ass on the carpet, clutching a now-detached length of azure ivory close to their chest.>The former owner of which was screaming her lungs out.>Dess flopped back against the mattress and rolled about fiercely, hollering her lungs out as though she were in agonizing pain. She clutched at her skull, at the sight of the break. Both to sell the illusion, and to stem what quickly-coagulating bloodflow had begun to reflexively well up.>"Aaah, Angel! AAAH-Aaah--Fahah--Aaaah!" >She was already beginning to crack up. The facade was slipping faster and faster. Before long, she was full on cackling. Slightly-bloodied hands clutched about her stomach as the doe lost it to her own foul joke.>Finally, she flopped up into a siting position on the bed's edge once more, grinning as she did so.>"Hehe, got'cha!" She snickered. "Did I--...Did...">That shit-eating look on her face faded away with her voice as she saw what had become of the rest of her room, since her act had begun.>Asriel, having at some point risen from the bed, was now kneeling before and holding the shoulders of an absolutely pathetic looking Kris.Cont
>>83813091>A Kris who was hunkered against the far wall of her bedroom, their little frame haloed by the glow-in-the-dark stars littering her wallpaper. Their diminutive lights reflected across their trembling body, his hands clutching at his own sleeves as they hugged themself, shivering.>At some point, no doubt drawn of what sounded like her sister being murdered, Noelle had rushed upstairs. The littlest Holiday was leaning close to Asriel and Kris, anxiously trying to figure out what was going on, fear written across her face.>The antler had been dropped and rested on the threshold of the carpet between her and the others.>A tiny bloodstain had pooled where it had been dropped.>Seems Asriel was right.>Dess cleared her throat. The mirth was gone. Something heavy was pressing on her chest. She rubbed the back of her neck, clearing her throat.>"...H-Hey," she began. "Kris, buddy, it was--">Asriel jerked his head over his shoulder, glaring at her.>"I think you've done enough.">Dess seemed to flinch a tad at her partner's scolding. She knew well it was justified.>It made that weight upon her chest grow all the heavier.>Ears folding against her head, she looked away from them, uncertain of what to say or do.>It had all seemed so harmless.>Perhaps that's why the sound of Kris's whimpering breath tore at her so.> . . .>That day, Asriel had taken Kris home earlier than usual.>Kris was still upset by the time they made it back to the Dreemurr household.>Toriel was quick to dig into the matter. Soon enough, she was on the phone with Carol.>And soon after, Carol was in Dess's room.>It was far from the worst argument they had had in recent memory. But something about this one stung at her all-the-more.>Perhaps that was why she decided to hold onto that first antler that had been the root of the whole mess.>Perhaps that's why she decided to start yet another creative venture.Cont
>>83813103>Weeks passed.>Asriel eventually forgave his girlfriend, even if it took a heavy talk for them to reach that reconciliation.>But Kris had been reluctant to come over with him since then.>And that was making Noelle miserable.>Perhaps that was but more motivation for December to keep at her current project.>One day, as school let out and folk began to split off and go their separate ways, Dess found herself waiting for Asriel to emerge from the school.>Outside on the sidewalk, she spied Kris speaking to her sister.>Taking a deep breath, she forced a smile on her face and walked over.>"Hey there, Kris-cross," she greeted gently.>The human was already beginning to pull away from Noelle. They refused to make eye contact with Dess. They only mumbled something in response.>Dess breathed out a tiny sigh.>She crouched down, balancing herself on her hooves to bring herself to eye-level with them.>"Still mad at me, huh?">Kris hesitated.>They nodded.>Dess's smile dampened slightly, but it didn't fade.>"Yeah," she said. "I figured. I don't blame ya.">She shrugged her backpack off her shoulders, peaking the zipper open.>"...And, I wanna try and make it up to you. To show that I'm sorry.">She reached inside the bag.>"Antler's pretty tough, 'n' I know you always wanted to have horns like Azzy...">Her arm slipped free of the zippers. Out with it came a headband of shaven, carved ivory, finely whittled to possess a pair of points.>Like two tiny horns.>Painted a glossy blue. A mirror to the plastic one they wore so often.>"So, y'know. Until yours grow in, you can have some of mine, 'kay?"Cont, last one next.
>>83813115>She extended the headband to Kris.>They didn't know how deep this attempt at an apology went.>They didn't know that, of all the failed spurts of creativity December had gone through across the years, this was perhaps one a few to actually produce anything meaningful.>Anything she was proud of.>But perhaps they knew enough.>Or at the very least, it meant enough for them.>Because, after taking the band carefully into their hands, Kris stepped in and seized the doe about the middle, and attempted their best to hug her.>Dess was quick to return the embrace. She smothered the human in her arms as though they were no different than Noelle.>"Forgive me?" She asked then.>"Mmhm," Kris mumbled in reply against her.>She breathed out relief. "Good," she murmured. "Thanks, buddy.">She didn't know it in that moment, but Asriel was smiling at the both of them.>He didn't want to interrupt the little moment of healing they shared.EndeHope you enjoyed doebrosI go to pass tf out now
>>83813017I miss the mental hospital au and momdyne, they were fun fr. I’m really loving the psycho Dess Whump did a few threads ago tho>pic unrelated of substitute gym teacher Undyne
>>83813119This was really good. I really like it when Dess is portrayed as just a little bit of a shitheel and not someone overtly malicious. It makes the Laura Palmer connections all the sweeter.
i feel like you could easily make the mental hospital au work within regular deltarunethe weird route has shown us that noelle has a lot of issues she's bottled up and suppressed for yearskris is pretty obviously fucked up in the head too
>>83813119Honestly the best interpretation of Dess that I've ever read. A personal interpretation but it hits every note I envisioned of her. Excellent work and I very much hope to see more of you and this in the future.

>>83813833I think Susie would be better as Ross, since they’re both drummers.Kris as Zubin is good, but I think Joe would be a better match.Noelle shouldn’t be Rob. She should either be Zubin or Stephanie Koenig from Hawaii: Part IIBerdly would be a better match for Rob than Ross.Ralsei as Andrew is perfect.
>>83813119A wonderful depiction of what I consider to be the lowest point in the DANK squad's personal history. You've made a strongly compelling piece of characterization for all parties involved, you know. It makes me hopeful for a glimpse at happier days gone by in the game itself.

>>83814357I feel awful for all of these kids. Noelle feels trapped in the incessant routine of her life like a character with all the will to live but no say in the matter; uncannily like what Kris is more recently experiencing with his unwilling possession. I wonder if Kris ever had even an inkling of the condition of Noelle's psyche. But she suppresses it and finds value in chasing the past and living vicariously through others. Even when she's her happiest, Noelle is still very dependent.Even Susie with her wavering grasp of reality and more evident personal flaws has left me more appreciative of how she represents a teenager with nothing to lose now given friends and hope, then threatened by the portent that it may, or will soon come to an end because of means entirely out of her control. So she chooses a comfortable escape and is now risking the safety and concern of others to fit this. That's in part why I feel like her sudden extreme reciprocation of Noelle's feelings has a deeper selfish motivation to play into her fantasies, but she doesn't even realize that behavior is ostracizing the one that was there for her first. Can death really be the only solution for one of these characters? I hope not.
