actual tranny here, first experience was meeting trans people at university, and all I wanted to do was ask them questions and privately admire them and wish I had their courage - whilst taking another like 6-7 years to come out myself.

Other than that I have a vivid memory of making my family watch some documentary about crossdressers when I was a young teen and the part about just living their lives dressed as women and not caring what people thought stuck with me. Unfortunately it was the mid 00's at the time and there was little to no coverage of trans people, so I took another decade plus to work it out.
