Half the fun with robots (or at least, the ones that are visibly mechanical) is that you can kinda cheat a bit with stuff like joints and ect via giving them actual joints. That becomes even easier if you have an articulated figure (or just a really autistic knowledge of how toys are made) on hand as a point of reference.

I've always been of the mind that a person cannot really control how they feel, only how they react. Lao can acknowledge that, but even then outside forces can act outside of your control. A fight may go haywire because he was worried for a teammate, and while that isn't a bad thing it can limit his ability he's able to respond depending on the emotion's effects. That and his actual feats. He's got a few but only a few. A good portion of hype around Lao is only hype.
