And in TB's case, it's really just coasting off the fact it's DnD. There's also Aftersoul which does give SOME detail on how Ether works but not enough that I'd necessarily call it super fleshed out.

It has been consistent with the character "Power levels" though, so it is easy to see why Res loses the 3-vs-1 but can win a 1-vs-1. I think it finally stopped updated only a couple of years back. So Bane was trucking along even with the reputation in shambles.That's just a rough outline from my memory though. But Blackgate kinda remains as a warning of "How to not do your FVN Project" to this day.

As I creep closer to the infamous scene, I am still pretty checked out. Instead, it too feels like a waste of time instead of being an interesting hint of why he has memories of the current day. If he really is dead and got warped here, that is just a boring answer. It is pretty bad when I would have liked it to be all a dream over what it was so far. Nothing has really changed my feelings about that on this return to it either.

Caelan is so entitled, he should be thankful that he was made a slave with his life in danger. Who still wants to use him for his own personal gain no matter how nice he is. He asked you for nothing outside of making Caelan his slave for potentially the rest of his life if he wasn't being pushed out of the place. This scene is pretty bad, mostly because it feels like it is trying to refocus the reader about caring for Ranok. I'm not really sure what people were feeling at the time, but I can't really view it as something other than trying to put his finger on the scale. It feels like admitting defeat. It made me drop it the first time because I was pretty bored up to this point and this whole thing just felt like an insulting cherry on top. I don't feel like diving too deep into retreading that ground. So now I enter the part I left at, time to see if the nearly thirteen chapters of FBTW were all just a warm-up for the real content.
