That whole thing is a myth, your brain never stops developing/changing. There's nothing actually different about 25, it was mischaracterizing a study that found that brain development was still occurring up to that age while ignoring the studies that show it's going after it too.

yeh I had mostly that idea on that range

Eh I made the chart based on the how well would an indie fare while having to avoid ending with a collar in an environment that's very much looking to integrate them into it
16-25 brain's still developing, prone to do stupid shit thus not as likely to be stamped as feral with exemptions on fervent rulebreakers
25-35 brain enters mature stages, still developing but in self discovery, has to start abiding by the rules in the compact but is still offered some amount of choice leniency
35+ is mostly considered mature and much less excusable if you break from independent traits (which at this point would be looking at an Affini slightly longer than usual)
Becoming a Floret or a Pinnate by choice is open on every part of these stages, but the probability of proactiveness from Affini slowly increases with age imo

you know i have odd feelings about opression settings.
On one hand, they awaken in me this rebelliousness thats somewhere between "playfully bratty" and "genuine autistic screeching at 'muh justice' "
But on the other, im clearly drawn to these settings. Even when they horrify me, make me angry, disgusted, whatever other adjectives, theres just this fascination with them despite it all. (Also its hot, duh)

And HDG is an odd one, cause yes lifes great, indie or floret, you're gonna have a blast. But it IS, for a human, still an opressive setting. No rights, autonomy or even saftey to be had. Yet it adds this *added* layer of confusion, cause life's genuinely good, and you can generally nod along with "yea they mean for the best"... yet then sometimes that *edge* shines through.

There's this developing hard sci-fi setting I've been getting into call 'Lost Suns' it far future and aliens and what not but its really scientifically grounded stuff, the ships are all brutalist and grounded in known information, the aliens are all REALLY alien, the works.
The situation is, there's this like coalition of nations, I forget the name of it, but its all the aliens coming together to fight a swarm of AI robots called Pointwatch. And the thing about Pointwatch is that it isn't sworn to destroy all life like so many other fictional AI. In its striving for achiving happines for the species that created it, it recognized Civilization as the limiting factor. Its goal, isn't to purge all life but to decimate all civilization, so natural life will continue in what it considers to be peace and happiness.
And literally every time it comes up on youtube, and I see the Pointwatch walkers the first thing that comes to mind is 'That is almost exactly what the Affini want' maybe not exactly how they'd handle things, but they could absolutly make Pointwatch an incredible asset to the Compact with some code correction.
It inspired my understanding of the Affini's evolution, it made me want to see large scale conflicts with an opposition that is as unstopable as you have misunderstood their genuine goals, it made me want to be pet by their squid robot things as reward for signaling them and causing the near complete leveling of an entire planet, all for their better systems to be installed instead.
It made me want to see higher civilizations fully realized as a non-combative threat because even their capacity for benevolence is to close to almighty to ever hope to contend.
It helped me to see both sides of the situation, and choose the one that was really right for me.
I can see all the very genuine appeal of wanting to fight back, of wanting to play the hero. I always, could, that comes free with like all of sci-fi.
But I losing can be very fun too.

I think its a pretty average experience dying miserably to a machine as far as the cannon is concerned, but I would really like it if they pet me.
This is a sketch of one with a large gun, so its pretty easy to get the gist of their operation.
When you watch the development videos you do definitely get the sense that the author isn't reaching to do something actually interesting with them, and really just wanted justification for his addmitedly very cool space aliens having lots and lots of guns but also all being friends.

I really doubt it, she's unfortunately not well fed, as you know the synthcubes aren't very nourishing or appetite provoking, so she's far less squishy than a terran should be. If I asked, I think she'd either get really upset or obstinately deny it. I don't think either helps.

Well a good place to start is probably with a metabolic adjustment, likely with some indirect nutrient delivery, allowing her to keep eating her cubes while slowly introducing other potential solid cubed food objects. Its probably a good idea to take her to a sniffles ward actually and see if we can't get some scans done on what all she's allergic to, and just how severe it all is. If nothing is really life threatening we can then get to work on nuetralizing a lot of those reactions and hopefully getting her living happier and healthier.

Imagine being taken to work by your affini (her work and you asked to go) and all the other plampts love you so much that within five minutes of her sitting down you’ve been shot up with so many different xenodrugs that her place of work might as well be a literal other dimension.

She has to keep reminding the hab AI that her floret’s actual body is safely crammed into a tube behind a bunch of firebreaks for safety and the huge serval curled up under a chilly sky of faux stars is basically a robot. But the hab AI is such a worrier and sets the alarms off anyway. She gets there at maximum speed every single time just in case it’s a real emergency and has to calm herself down by waking up her floret up and petting him back to sleep a few times in a row. She knows when to stop when he starts making really loud sad pitiful meows that translate to “please stop waking me up mommy I’m sleepy!!!”

I would have a very very large outdoor-indoor hab connected to where my mommy lives because she wouldn’t want to domesticate me too thoroughly and so it’s for my protection and the protection of others you see. But also I would be a very good boy and able to get out really easily and literally everyone across the entire hab ring would know someone who knows someone who knows me and I’d be getting petted and seeing cool stuff all the time and she would lovingly pretend to never know because that’s good enrichment too letting me practice being really sneaky.
