Hello again, /fvn/ Had a busy day, but got some writing done and now time to start on the May Wolf VNs. These are the top ones in the story department outside the first one, since I already did that. I’m back! This route is rough, I think it’s one of the earlier written ones and it shows. The pacing and writing are really jumbled and I’m having a hard time understanding what’s going on at certain parts, mostly around day 3.On night 2 Patrice and Joel find a church outside of the castle and have a talk about religion. Patrice tips his fedora as a proud atheist because if god does exist his unwillingness to act means he’s a shitty guy, also because his family tried to force it on him and religion hates the gays. Really weird for him to say that because on day 3 Patrice says his family were very accepting and supportive of him coming out after finding vaginas yucky. This confuses me

Went with Pyrena for the next May Wolf game I'm doing. The style of the game is nice with a lot of animation. I think the story is good with some sour spots. Like it tries to just kind of insert things like the villain is a cop or the best friend is a they that wants to cut her breasts off. Guess the only character you get to see without a shirt? It does have good horror moments and the best parts are largely when those get to be shown off instead of the dialogue itself a lot of the time. But when it is at its best, it makes the sour taste in my mouth in some scenes not matter as much and even if I would just kind of cut them, it didn't end up ruining it for me. While the monster also feels like a metaphor for his regrets and guilt. It just kind of attacks him and fucks off after he lets go anyway. Other VNs had a really flowing pace to it that made me lose track of time, while with VM you *feel* every minute. I take issue with every inconsequential little detail being painstakingly described, so when I say it could be edited I mean that by removing those VM would, I believe, be much more fluid and enjoyable to read. To a wider audience anyway, those who are sticking with this VN the way it is are built differently let me tell you that

Just trying to read Oscar's route had me wondering how many times are we going to reaffirm that yes he's a flirt, yes he'd love to crack Wallace until the bed broke, and yes we understand he's super careful about boundaries.There's also that constant commentary from Wallace about boundaries in a way, and I've seen it in other works. The whole "the LI looks troubled, but I know he won't tell me if I pry so I won't" kind of narration that leaves me scratching my head. Like we as the reader need reassurance that the characters are doing their best to be as polite and non-confrontational as possible.

With his archetype, it's very easy to have his boisterous personality be a mask for some trauma or shortcoming but no that's just how Edwin is. We're not really given any reason to think he's not just trying to enjoy his life as best he can, however he wants.He has his troubles and worries as much as anyone, but nothing that I'd consider detrimental to his usual vibe. As I mentioned, he's introspective enough to support his more frivolous exploits and understand not go completely overboard (so far).
