>>84313364For all it's faults, I'll give credit to gen 6 for minimizing how often you have to deal with their time wasting cut scene battle gimmick.Obviously no one normal wants to waste time watching the same cut scene of making your pokemon ugly more than they have to. So you are forced to watch it a total of 4 times (Korina's Lucario, your Lucario, Lysander's Gyarados, and Diantha's Gardevoir). You can technically get away with 3, but beating the Lucario mirror without Mega is a bitch and a half.As opposed to all the games after which, while often having better gimmicks than megas, start to feel real draining after watching the same animations play out past the 6th time.

Sure, Gigantimax forms and Pokemon-specific Z moves exist but the other three gimmicks can be used on any Pokemon at any time whereas mega evolution can only be used on specific mons. If you see a Gyarados, and you know what mega Gyarados is, you can plan for that specific possibility and hedge accordingly. In other generations, ANY pokemon could have any Z move, any tera type, or a way to double HP and boost its stats and power with each ohko taken, each way more difficult to play around imo. Sure, some mega evolutions are broken too, but those due to design flaws with that specific mega, not with the gimmick as a whole.dynamax ladys r cute tho
