/sus/ is kinda going through it rn so I decided to come here to ask everyone what they think of DR's moment-to-moment gameplay rn (not just of chapter 5's), because while just about everyone will agree that Toby's writing and Music are top-notch, I also think many can agree that raw gameplay, while certainly not bad or terrible, definitely isn't his strong-suit either.Personally I think it was quite a smart move to introduce a new gameplay gimmick each chapter because if DR was nothing but raw turn-based JRPG the whole time it would start to feel tiring and monotonous a lot sooner.

I don't think I opened the menu in Chapter 5 a single time outside of combat. Old stuff is recontextualized and hits so hard. Gameplay wise, I think I hate two things in particular, the climbing sections, I suck at them a lot, and the dreaded tea cup. I’m here for the story, the atmosphere, the characters. If I could pick an ideal gameplay style with Deltarune characters, I’d play the hell out for Deltarune styled like Fire Emblem Three Houses.is that heresy? I feel like it’s heresy.
