The letter chapters are non canon holiday specials which are mostly unrelated to the main story. That being said, I would suggest avoiding them while you're still on the early chapters, as they won't make complete sense without some later context
They were released between Eclipse chapters during the actual holiday they reference, and I'd recommend either reading them between those chapters (there are author's notes at the beginning of those chapters which mention them) or waiting till after you read the full story.
The letter chapters all take place after the events of Eclipse (ch. 1 is on Dec 30th, 2025, and ch. X is Oct 31st, 2026) so they don't affect the story much except for a small detail in chapter z, so if you're concerned about spoilers, I'd wait to read chapter z until the story is finished :)

The Lunarians are heavily influenced by the anthros in pic related.
When I first started writing Eclipse, I asked the anons here what they wanted to see in the story, and one anon requested slug ladies while posting some very convincing material.
I imagine the Lunarians as being more pudgy and less muscly than the ones in this image, but the heads are mostly accurate.
Another main difference is the antennae on the head. I think of them as being thinner, shorter, and straight, while pointing back rather than being floppy and coming forward.
I imagine that they have a bit of flesh hanging around the mouth like the jowls of a doberman.
The rest of the body is bipedal with a torso, two arms and two legs.
They are also generally quite stacked in terms of boobs, butts and thighs B^3

But to be perfectly honest with you I'm not great at consistently imagining alien physique.
I'm not sure if the descriptions I've given would be totally consistent and appealing if drawn out the way my hazy imagination shows them to me.
If someone came along and drew an appealing version of the Lunarians, or any of the aliens in my story for that matter which differed greatly from my descriptions, I'd probably end up deferring to them and use that as a reference moving forward.
