I believe Adventures 1 & 2 having not only 6 different characters, but 6 different games in one+plus the Chao Garden and for both games no less, is really commendable. The only problem just like Game Freak is that SonicTeam are incompetent and SEGA unlike Nintendo stopped having a strong marketing team like Pokemon did. Plus Pokemon was strong in every department, not just the games. Say what you will about the quality of the Pokemon anime, but holy shit it went on for 25 years without skipping a year.

JJR also had a cancelled 3D game.For games less related to Sonic but which provide a survival platforming racing experience you have Nitronic Rush and its sequel Distance.And Warframe is pretty much Megaman X + Sonic. Speedrunning it has become the intended way of playing it even if you can just stop using your sword, use your gun instead and take it nice, slow and steady instead of zipping on your sweet ass and flipping across half the hallway but why would you ever not speedrun a grindy sci-fi MMORPG?Anyway I ironically enjoyed the Knuckles stages where it lets you explore at your own pace and you can almost fly, more like glide.I think Spark and Sonic could really use a rewind mechanic and a bunch of teleport mechanics to make exploration more feasible instead of "oops you already went through the loop de loop, there's no coming back, better die and restart the entire level cause you zipped past everything."Frontiers was also funny how it enabled debug mode to set your own control speed and cheats. Sonic indeed has piss poor reaction/acceleration time compared to his top speed, Sonic has no real sprint button like most conventional platforming characters like Mario does.Imagine beating SMB without using the run option.
