There was another Regina done in recent months that was really well done, but for the life of me I cannot find her. I blame/thank Jawmuncher for their obsession with Dino Crisis, may their dedication pay off one day.

But back to your pic, even for such a simple sketch she looks real good here. I need to learn to capture this energy in my art

>the new FE game
I've never played a Fire Emblem game, what's to recommend about it and what's going on with the new one?
>>
>>84698886
Any FE isn't a bad place to start with the exception of Engage, not because it's bad, but because it relies so much on the franchise's history to be friendly to newcomers.
If you like TRPGs you'll be right at home, the older games are tougher by and large though, so be aware

As for this new one, it's pomising to be the largest and most packed (heh) game in the franchise in terms of sheer content.
>>
>>84698886
I agree with >>84699039, as someone who's first FE game was Engage (Not counting my stint with Heroes beforehand), yeah, pretty much any other one is good to start with. Engage is just in a weird place, even though I still enjoyed it as my first real FE experience.
I played Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones after Engage, and yeah either of those two would be great first time experiences, even without the rewinding and casual mode stuff from the recent games.

>>84698886
Another thing to add to>>84699039 is that the world in the new one is the same as 3 houses, another beloved game, so having some ties to it and building upon that world is something people are excited about.

To be honest, almost everything new I learn about that game just makes me want to play it less, ha.
Many will enjoy it but it's most definitely not looking like it's for me.
>>84698886
>what's to recommend about it
Turn-based grid tactics medieval fantasy RPG. Its main gimmick is permadeath; the units you lose in a battle are (usually) unavailable for the rest of the game. If that sounds something you'd be into, start by FE8 (Sacred Stones). It's the best entry point to the franchise, bar none. It's on Switch Online if you have that, and if not it's piss easy to emulate.
>what's going on with the new one
New game in the setting of another relatively recent one, Three Houses. It's a controversial entry because of how different it was from the rest of the series but it's also the most generally popular by a landslide as well if I'm not mistaken. The new game seems to be doubling down on many of the aspects that separated its predecessor from the rest of the franchise, like a very heavy emphasis on social sim gameplay, branching objectives, and simpler maps, alongside some additional weird stuff like an open world/hub and something like dungeon maps.
People who enjoyed Three Houses are naturally very excited about it, and apparently reviewers like it.

>>84699039
>Any FE isn't a bad place to start with the exception of Engage
>pretty much any other one is good to start with
I disagree. I would never recommend games like Fates or Genealogy to a newcomer, for instance. It's better to start by a game that encompasses more broadly and cleanly what the series is about. In other words, one that's more generally Fire Emblem. If you start by one of the weird entries, you'll then get whiplash no matter with which game you follow it up with.
>>
>>84698886
I'll be honest, I started with 3 Houses and I've been a fan of the series ever since.

So yeah, you could start out with that one and then try some of the older ones like Awakening.

>To be honest, almost everything new I learn about that game just makes me want to play it less, ha.

That's fair. I know I don't jive with some designs of characters, and something like the sudden rpg like battling in the dungeon paths is... Choices that are interesting at least... It's experimenting, and I can commend it for that. It is doubling down in some ways to be similar to 3 houses like with what you said, but it is trying diverge itself enough from it to stand on its own, or that will make it be remembered for, I hope at least.

>I disagree. I would never recommend games like Fates or Genealogy to a newcomer, for instance. It's better to start by a game that encompasses more broadly and cleanly what the series is about. In other words, one that's more generally Fire Emblem.
Yeah, I guess we should have worded it better. I did mention Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones at least. And there's realistically only a handful of games that are so experimental from a general FE experience. But hey, a lot of people did start out with fates, and it could have stuck with many. It just depends. Either way, if one seems to interest you from giving a quick skim on it, then maybe try it out. Never hurts to try.

Maybe I'm just jaded and bitter, but to me it all comes off as IS learning nothing from what worked and what didn't work from the 3H and Engage cycles.
My guns in FE wish got monkey paw'd, haha.
>Either way, if one seems to interest you from giving a quick skim on it, then maybe try it out. Never hurts to try.
That might be the best advice yet.
I do stand by not recommending the weird emblems to newcomers because I wouldn't want them to think that's what the whole franchise is like, but I suppose that if you do know a bit of what you're getting into and temper your expectations accordingly, it's no problem. I'm sure every game in the franchise has been someone's first Fire Emblem, including stuff like Warriors and Heroes.

Yeah, Heroes was my first exposure all the way back in the launch of that game. Man... Where has the time gone...

Side note, wew, Tethys... She's so right, and yet she needs that belly to be bigger... Gotta appreciate girls who don't get a lot of art in general...

I think that was their way of speeding up the dungeon battles that they did in Echoes. Not that they were that slow but maybe the devs thought a more normal turn based style would be a better fit for them.

Speak your truths. It's always a pleasure to see what FE people got into the series with, even if it isn't always wise that the oddball sidegames are that starter (I need to know who got in through #FE, madmen they may be)
And yeah, even more a pleasure when it's girls who rarely get art at all...

I took the Inti-creates sale from last week to buy the love live Metroidvania game.
I wouldn't recommend that game at full price, but for the $10 I bought it for it was worth a few nights of simple Metroidvania fun and the 6-7 hours it was to 100%, pretty challenging bossfights too if you don't want to facetank them by grinding healing items.
I did a handful of sketches for vore day for a few friends too, this whole art thing is starting to feel like it's clicking... but I gotta figure out efficiency because spending all day on one or 2 sketches is painful.

That's honestly fair, I didn't know what dungeon battles were like in Echoes since I haven't played it yet, but that could be it. I just hope that the gameplay isn't too simple and mindless. Though even if it is, then I probably won't mind it too much.
>>84713570
Indeed! And such a gateway to the series eventually made me into loving it very much. So I can't hate Heroes too much, despite the many woes and troubles it has back then, and now. I could go on about it but I don't want to clog and bore the thread, haha... I digress. And mmhm... Treasuring the art of underrated girls. That Julia is lovely.

Glad I stay out of those thread then. Also hell yeah, I just saw that drawing earlier. Group pics are always fun.

There's something deeply amusing about this image, Lucoa holding up an old top that she might be able to theoretically squeeze into if she were only 200 pounds instead of 700 with an expression on her face that acknowledges that it's far too small for how fat she has gotten, yet understates the sheer magnitude by how much she's outgrown it, is borderline comical. She knows it won't fit, but part of her mind is thinking that such a fact is only marginal and not that top will struggle to cover just one of her flabby tits, being far too incapable of containing her enormous girth as her pot belly extends down to her knees.
