They're essentially how the old altars used to work in the beta>Both altar types still carry over to the upper floors when lit. There are more altars on each floor now as well (3 star and 3 moon on 1f, 4 star and 4 moon on 2f)>Minions drop rewards when defeated>There are many more chests added per floor (8 on 1f and 8 on 2f)>Certain chests may need a key which you can find in the new Mysterious Bag tile>Chests may turn into a mimic enemy that needs to be defeated.
