If 7B is a roundabout way of ending up there, thus closing the loop between the Normal and Weird Routes, wouldn't that mean his death only comes at the end? The only case I can make for the Vessel moving forward is that it assumes a similar role to HERO_SWORD in that the SOUL gave the impression of entering it, escaped out of the screen and did... something. Somewhere. Going through all of that effort to retrieve our Vessel from the depths of the code only for it, and we, to achieve or freedom would be a pretty compelling end goal for us as a villain. We're exploiting two characters, using them for our purposes and then getting the hell out of dodge, now unencumbered by Kris' resistance.

Toby wrote that Chapter 6 gap knowing it wouldn't be exposited on for at least a year and a half, bare minimum, and that fans would have extreme whiplash jumping into something like that after such an insane yet short Chapter 5 sequence. Noelle's death requires something that is tangential to her situation, not just an off-screen mercing from SOUL radiation exposure or not benefiting from having superior human determination. Part of the Proceed sequence is actually a glitch reference as well; specifically for the idea of exploiting cutscenes and dialogue interactions as a form of evading damage (which we know they were taking based on audio cues).The best reverse example of what is going on after they submerge is probably the classic glitch where, in Mario Sunshine, if you get your hat stolen on Pinna Park's beach section at the beginning and then engage in dialogue with anyone nearby, if you wait long enough Mario will die mid-convo with no change to gameplay until the NPC finishes what they're saying. Then you're treated to the standard Game Over screen.Huge tangent aside, the "best" case scenario for Noelle, depending on where Toby decides to go with this, is a very touching, tragic send-off between she and Kris where the overreliance on her power has left her body and inferior Monster soul too taxed to continue, and she dies. Worst case would come at the end of a terrifying breakdown as she realizes everything in her life is a production, a farce orchestrated by some curious, divinely detached overseer and she whites out. It's going to awful either way, but it's how you frame it.

She was doomed from the beginning; moral quandaries over how "mature" Kris can be simply don't factor in when his presence provides a very different kind of atmosphere compared to Asriel. Sure, he's her peer, probably her boyfriend in the moment and they've tried their own things together, but Dess is a bit stuck in the past and still sees herself as more of a rambunctious kid than a teenager coming of age. Kris is that youthful anchor she needs to be weighed down by.
