CYOA Refugee Thread - A thread for posting any and all CYOAs unpostable in /tg/'s /cyoag/ (and occasionally ones that aren't).

Includes - but is not limited to - a F.A.Q. section and the personal archives of a number of authors.
An extensive Allsync archive that has both SFW and NSFW CYOAs.
Interactives list.
If you're looking for a specific CYOA, it's suggested that you check those first.

And remember: Postnumbers aren't for rolling. If the CYOA calls for rolling of any sort (or you just feel like leaving something up to fate), use random.org (or https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm, or physical dice, or something else that isn't your postnumber) to generate the number, and write it in the post with the rest of your build.
In short: Do the rolling before you post, instead of observing the postnumber you get.

>>
>>85115889
This cyoa is just slightly too constraining. I've played it a couple times, and I wasn't able to completely do what I wanted to. All these "x% of your kobolds get this" options are dumb. No cyoa should do that, put the player in control of what %, let me pay for 100% on everything that I think is important. Without that option, all builds are rooted to the boring base kobold with no mutations as the basic unit.
>>
>>85117522
>all builds are rooted to the boring base kobold with no mutations as the basic unit.
I mean, that's the point, isn't it? Otherwise you could turn all your kobolds into something else that isn't a kobold. I think the 6 kobold archetypes and the freedom you get for minor details are enough variance.
>>
>>85117912
None of the options let you turn your kobold into something that isn't a kobold. Why shouldn't be able to make 100% of my kobolds aquatic and set up in a swamp, or make 100% of my kobolds slimy? If those options go against the kobold spirit, they shouldn't have been added at all, rather than being added with a restriction that makes it impossible to faction build with them. It's just not fun. At least if you're going to force me to keep a lot of base kobolds, at least let be combine the perks into a single bloodline so I can combine perks with synergies.

And the cyoa isn't really married to kobolds staying kobolds when it includes perks like hybridize.
>>
>>85118041
I see what you're saying. Yeah, you should be able to make many traits 100% by just paying an extra ember or something.
>>
>>85115889

>>85119638
Seconded.
Are there any cyoas where you're trying to take over the world with zombies? Seems like a premise that would have been done before.
Lots of fetishes could work. It's already got a mind control angle; you could have harems of undead wives; the virus could have body modification effects; plus there could be weird stuff like detachable body parts, unusual penetration, and vore.

>>
>>85120225
No, if anything, the germs make it hotter. The idea that just being near a zombie can get you infected would be hot if I could.

No, it's the exposed muscle or bone, the stitches in skin, the stiffness and inability to recover. That's why I like vampires better. Dullahan are also good.

What about less gruesome zombies, that simply look like a person with a lot of stitches who can pass as human?
Maybe your virus strategy isn't to turn everyone into bloody man-eating monsters, but to maintain intelligence while inducing a realignment of morals towards zombiekind, causing the victim to intelligently hide their infection, insidiously spreading it under cover of night, until when authorities finally notice it's too late because half the population is already infected...

>>
>>85120423
Well, if you choose to make it, your cyoa does not need to be made for everyone. You shouldn't shy away from things because a few anons don't like them.

But if I can convince you, harpies are really nice. They can make for adorable bird brains, or beautiful seductresses that can carry men away. I'd really like to encourage you to think in that direction.

I have come to associate kobolds with the kinds of people who play as kobolds in DnD, and I find those people deeply unpleasant to be around. And so, the DnD brand of kobolds as shitty wannabe dragons upsets me. Like, how I'd imagine diaper fetishists to be IRL is how I've found kobold fetishists IRL to be, and so now I look at kobolds the same way.

That, and they're always played for goof which again puts me in mind of all the toon fetishes that flood out from DA and ruin my other interests. And they leak out just the same, for example in my game Siralim ultimate - someone forked over the money to get their monster in, and of course it's the most DnD fanbold to ever exist, complete with 'didn't do nothing' lore about how they're actually funny goofy little guys that hang out in cities with humans, and it's like fuck off from my game I don't want your DnDfanlorebolds in the lore of this universe I like.

Other forms of kobolds are ok, I guess. Like palladium style goblinbolds or the japanese bastardised furbolds or galganmanleinn plantbolds are all reasonably ok, it's just the scaly bait DnD ones that really bug me. DnDrones themselves being all kinds of cringe also feeds into it, and of course it's that version that floods out and infects every depiction. Atleast they could be the classic dnd communist kobolds with the napoleon complex towards other races, but no, it's so often the 'dindu nothing funny little guys' revisionism that also pisses me off.

You don't have to go with modern virus that animates the dead resulting in the zombie apocalypse style. Necromancy is an option, as is a more Frankenstein build a body style. NTA, this one was fun, you really do get a lot of options for different kinds of builds. If we are talking about harpy, or generally bird people cyoas I prefer Wings of Sothym. It's less condescending? In Soft Wings you can technically be a guy, but the whole cyoa keeps treating you like a girl and assumes you want to be one, while Wings of Sothym doesn't do that. It's also part of a trilogy, with the other 2 cyoas being about snake people/lamias and undeads. The balance of the undead one is a bit different because it's at a point when the author was trying new things, and there was supposed to be more cyoas in the same setting as well as updates, but the author disappeared. The undead one allows you to access the other 2 cyoas as well, since you can be an undead version of those. I wonder if the author got hit scope creep when he realized that he was going to need to update the undead one with every new race added to the world?

Who knows. We have so many versions of them from folklore that any of them could be considered "real". But I'm going to assume he meant the lizard version, and he considers the dog version as "dog furries based off ugly ass mutant breeds".

To be fair 90% of CYOAs here are about becoming a girl. The funniest thing is that it makes you explicitly select breasts/no breasts, and then later makes you choose a breast size without restrictions. Yes I'll take no breasts, mega-milkers sized, please.
You can be featureless and horny though which is fun.

Anyway I'm in a bird mood now, link to Sothym?

I know. I also know I'm in the minority who hates all of those and wishes things were different. And of those I'm in the further minority who doesn't start shitstorms about it. I would be the change I want to see, but I can't make horny cyoas so whatever. I'm happy to just play what isn't about being a girl when it appears, like the isekai one that got an update lately.

I wouldn't call those zombies. If you're still alive, you just have a disease that mind controls you, you aren't a zombie. We already have a few corruption plague cyoas, though I don't think any are especially good, they all just kind of handwave that your plague will be super succesful, and don't explore the process of infecting everyone.
>>
>>85124678
I guess that's kind of like selecting your genes for if you find a girl to have your eggs with. Take no breasts and mega milkers, then you can pass on those mega milkers.

I'm sorry, but that's a bit like describing a cube that is both blue all over and red all over at the same time. If you heal seamlessly and don't have rot or stiffness, then you're by all measures alive. You can make a good cyoa where a strange parasite is able to resurrect the dead, but those wouldn't be zombies.
>>
>>85120750
Well I have a full build, but it's the kind of thing that doesn't feel worth posting. The cyoa throws so many powers at you, but has few benchmarks for what's normal in it's setting, so I can't know if I've made an ordinary harpy or someone super talented. It's also the kind of fantasy world that has guns, communication towers, gps, mandatory government id, and all kinds of modern anachronisms.
>>
>>85108191
Well, I didn't put 16,000 characters into it (nice build by the way, >>85116899), but I did make a fresh build since we started talking about it.

>Space
Palatial
If I'm going to be here forever, then I need some space to keep from getting cabin fever.

>Time
-Parity
Tough choice between this or Static, but I lose the option of extra guests dropping in through Gaps while in my realm if I choose static, and as an immortal I'll cherish surprises as much as the hunt.

>Gladespells (18)
-Oathfruit, Youth, Gender, Maidlust
The Oathfruits require a year of service in any capacity I desire within the central dome, with a traditional forfeit of ones first-born child (or soul, at my discretion). Youth allows trophies to age naturally up to 19 (sorry Crux), but locks the age there and reduces age to that value for anyone older who wanders in. Gender is just to flip boys to girls if they eat an Oathfruit and choose to stay the year (or more, if they get greedy). Maids will mostly clean the castle and patrol the edge of the grounds to alert me of any disturbances in the Hedge. But some of them will, indeed, suffer.

>Enclosures (7)
-Free-Roam, Vivarium, Valhalla, Cold Storage
Trophies have 'small' Vivariums suitable to house up to 20 placed around the grounds, with a massive central vivarium encasing my palace to serve as a grand arena for Valhalla challenges. These range from fun sports events to exotic dance recitals to savage battle royales. Between larger events, girls are free to roam the central dome or the outer grounds, but only assigned residents and I are allowed in the vivariums used to house prizes. Violence is only acceptable in the central dome around the palace, and rulebreakers get to decorate the palace terraces in a Cold Storage time-out. Maids will shoo girls who roam too close to the Hedge back to relative safety.

1/3?
>>
>>85126152
The inside of the palace is a soft, hedonistic den. Entry for a few days is gained through my favor, either by winning on event days or by impressing me with displays of seduction, skill, or savagery otherwise.

>Targets (1)
Beauty
What? I like pretty things.

>Methods (19)
-Candy, Conquest, Abduction, Promised, Offense, Sacrifice, Cultivation, Narrative
More specifically, I like taking pretty things. Through guile or force, I'll claim my trophies and bring them back to the vivariums to grow and fight and learn to please.

>Workshop (20)
-Bodyshop, Mindshop
This choice is tough because of the learning curve, but I do have experimental subjects in the form of Maids to make sure my early attempts don't ruin my prizes. And once I have the process down, this is by far the most economical way to modify the members of my household. Anything that nature neglected, I can provide.

>Gaps (8)
-Mirror , Key
>Hazards (2)
-Lifegate
>Neighbors (10)
Dungeon
A way for people to stumble into the edges of the garden, stripped of protections but able to be ushered inwards by the Maids. A dungeon to explore for new materials and reagents to use in the Body/Mind shops, and I can use strangers who have eaten the oathfruit as dungeon companions without endangering any of my trophies.

>Changelings
-Control: None.
-Abilities: Motivation.
-Flaws: Death.
My changelings will give the former caretakers of my prizes the brightest of candles. A pity that they must burn out so quickly, but I have little attention to spare for those too foolish to hold onto their treasures.

(2/3)
>>
>>85126171
Glamour (15)
-Invisbility, Normalcy, Memory, Suggestion, Hounds, Time, Candy
Weaknesses: Threshold, Tales (+10)
Moving through the boring realm is trivial when the minds of those around me are so very maleable, so let's make it more interesting. They say life is just drama with the dull bits cut out - but life can be a story, and when it is we should all be prepared to play our parts to the satisfaction of the narrative. What's even the point of a play with no buildup, or a hunt with no safe retreat?

That gives me all of the titles except for Grand Artificer, but I'm sure over a long enough time scale I can work my way towards that and more. My long-term goal is Soulsmithing, so I can perfect my trophies at every level, inside and out.
>>
>>85126409
Divinity is a really clever mechanic. Giving you a resource you can earn but not spend yet makes it easier to think about your garden as something that will continue to grow rather than something set in stone as soon as you finish your build. I can't think of many cyoas that do that well, and none that do it so concisely.
>>
>>85125954
I think most of the descriptions are relatively clear in the talent level you get - above-average, superhuman, once-in-a-generation, etc.
Harpies get +40 points if you do them properly so you can be pretty powerful, and in my build I went all-in on superhuman endurance, healing, speed, strength etc. The thing is I still ran out of points by the time of choosing magical talent or professional skills, so I didn't just make a superpowered god character, instead I ended up having to specialise in just being durable and strong but non-magical and not particularly skilled or educated. Without the harpy bonuses you'd be forced to choose even more carefully, or take a lot more maluses.
So the CYOA gives you a lot of options for powers but I feel like it's balanced enough to where you can make a powerful character but you do have to choose a build to specialise into. Or you can be a jack of all trades but not take too many points in any given direction. So from that perspective, I didn't feel like the CYOA was too broad.

But it does drop the ball on consistency.
>the kind of fantasy world that has guns, communication towers, gps, mandatory government id, and all kinds of modern anachronisms
Some of these feel optional, for example you can literally avoid selecting having magitech cities when choosing the world type, but then the CYOA seems to forget that and just assume there's magitech everywhere. Some parts (like the fatness choice) reference rural vs. urban areas having totally different beauty standards, as if they were still very separate societies with their own preferences, resource abundance etc., but then IDs are never specified as being urban-only. Same shit as the breast slider for breastless characters.
The "mentalism exists" option would've been a nice model if it was extended to some other choices (like "magic/magitech exists") and also didn't alone gate like 80% of the lewd downsides. Like just make it ungated at that point bro.
>>

Yeah, I think Crux caught a little flak at first for including an option that couldn't be chosen (or maybe it was when he pitched the idea before posting), but I think it does a lot to extend the scope of a build into the future. If nothing else, it's a concrete long-term goal.

I can also see it as an easy thing to muck up, though. Especially if it wasn't as clearly signposted that you can't select the option, or if the values were only off by one or something.

The Noelle doll would be a lot more fun with her most up to date characterization.

I've got some. They may have been posted here before but they're from artists' twitters and saucenao says they're not on gelbooru.

I think his onmodel (as in, the design shown in Undertale) look is cute. Not a fan of the source design it's based on, but the pear-shaped look is sweet, especially if you get the Jester Hat on it.

Every 100 years, dozens of girls that qualify with cultivation are taken to a section of my garden at the same time and made the center of a game. In a randomly selected order, other collectible, all of which have been turned into boys with big cocks, are let into the game area, and scored based on how much cum they’re able to get into the girls. Rape disqualifies them and activates a denial curse though.

As they have sex and interact with various objects in the game area, the girls are slowly transformed into boys. They’re also given fetishes for the transformation and shota on shota action. Once the last girl has transformed completely and given in to her new desires and body, all the boys are allowed to freely roam the rest of the garden until the next game, and the winners of the game are allowed to make requests on how to edit their new friend’s minds. I have many different game areas set up, each of them pulling girls from a different parallel world on a different schedule, so there’s almost always at least a couple games going. Squatters are also exempt from the rules unless they ask to join a game, and can stay girls as long as they like.

My changelings are commanded to have children no matter what it takes, once they do have kids, their luck will be siphoned into them ensuring that they grow up to be successful and have lots more kids that qualify cultivation. I’ll also use my own abilities to expand my cultivation base, helping unrequited love come true with memory alterations and suggestion.

i suppose when the game opens all the boys that are already there will already have fetishes for shota on shota action... which means that some boys won't be interested in the girls that have just appeared... i wonder if the girls will see shotas fucking each other and then get jealous, and once they learn that there are transformative effects scattered about they'll desperately search for them to be able to get some action...
on the other hand, some boys might take more to the transformation fetish and actively seek out girls to transform...
very fun setup you've created

That's what the prize is for. Compared to how much time a shota spends in the wider garden the games are very short, so a competing boy's mind will be on winning, trying out any seduction trick they can think of to get the chance to turn one of the girls into his own custom boyfriend, or maybe just to protect her from the other boys competing.

Rather than only the first place spot getting to win, anyone who passes a goal does and gets to pick one of the girls, but the competition is set up so not all the girls will get their mind altered. If a girl trusts a boy, she can also choose him to alter her mind before any of the winner pick, but he can accept even if he isn't a winner so there's risk to it.

And since I'm the one interpreting all their brainwashing requests, I'll be able to moneky's paw things in the directions I want.

hmm i see, i was imagining something a little more freeform or like a scavenger hunt where they wander about and might not even know there's a competition going on unless they find some secret information hidden somewhere.
what about you? are you walking around with them in an active role, or are you an audience that they know is observing them, or are you hiding and watching secretly?
also, what's the dragon for?

Maids again, daring aren't we? Maybe alittle BTG action next? This place is so fucking boring. Complete one trick pony CYOAs. Losing tok was unironically the worst thing to happen to lewd CYOAs

>hmm i see, i was imagining something a little more freeform or like a scavenger hunt where they wander about and might not even know there's a competition going on unless they find some secret information hidden somewhere.
Nope! All the boys know the rules and only get in because they want to participate, the squatters who get into the area but aren't participating also usually know some of the rules. The girls themselves are completely in the dark until someone tells them. They don't know why or how they got to the garden or anything about what's happening to them. The transformations beginning is supposed to be a surprise around the time some of them are still trying to find a way out and some of them are trying to make themselves comfortable since they've been there for a few days.
I'll be observing secretly. Despite the free roam, I don't think I'll spend much time with anyone other than granting wishes. Maybe most the boys will think I'm just something powerful that lives in the garden, not it's creator and owner. Maybe I'll play into it and create or invite some other powerful things to live inside.
The dragon is purely for security. Completely sealing the hedge is impossible, and there are things out there even without taking other options in the section. I don't want any less honorable fairy sneaking in and stealing things. I also don't want collectibles sneaking out. So I bought the dragon home defense system.
