what layers? in the unity hierarchy? it was like 20+ separate objects for each body part with some variants like different ears or tail, I deleted what I didn't want and merged the remaining pieces into one in blender then replaced the fbx in unity, but there are still a different texture for each body part that are all different

assuming the 15 textures are just different base colors you probably just have to pick one, like how you combined the mesh details. but it's hard to say, I am not a unity efficianado, depending on the amount of details the substance project will surely be more than just 15 layers if there are that many textures

There are that many textures, some are really basic just a couple lines and some spots, I've gone through and deleted all the extra stuff that I'm not using and removed some normal maps that were just blank or pointless, I'll post some pics later, I've had a look at a few avatars and never seen something this bad before, like the upper and lower arm use a different texture, one for the upper chest, one for the lower chest, upper legs and lower legs are different textures, it's a mess. I'd like to try and combine them in blender as some of them are very similar but uv maps are a nightmare
